This was my first time ordering from here and the last time..the food was expensive and totally sucked!

First time customer. Stopped in yesterday and ordered a chile verde wet burrito. Went with the green sauce. No beans. Sweet Jesus was it delicious. It's 1:48am right now and I'm still thinking about it. Met the owner / chef Juan Pablo. Fantastic host, fantastic cook. Was in the area and found this spot for a quick bite to eat. It's a cute restaurant on the inside with Mexican decor, music, and murals to add to the vibe. They had Mexican party jams playing so I was dancing in my seat. I had the chicken rolled tacos and my mom had the ceviche tostada. My rolled tacos were filled with chicken, served with cheese, sour cream and guacamole. Very tasty. My mom's ceviche tostada was packed high with fish and tasted good. She's a little picky and ate it all up. The portions were good sized and the prices were good too. I would recommend this spot. Our server was nice, welcoming and attentive. Pato helped us and he was so kind! He was attentive, gave my son a piece of candy while waiting and was just vibing with us as my son and I were kind of dancing to all the great music being played! The place is intimate and welcoming with tons to look at on the walls! Again, the music was great, while waiting for our food my son and I were having a blast dancing in the waiting seats. My review is more-so a 4.5, but only because the food was not quite to my tastes as far as Mexican food. I had super high hopes for this place because it looks EXACTLY like one of my all time favorite Mexican spots so I ordered my usual -- cheese enchiladas, a crispy taco and salsa. I also ordered a green veggie burrito and a soft carne asada taco for my son. The parts I enjoyed were the salsa and chips-- they paired very well together and I thought the salsa (and hot sauce) both had good flavor. The salsa isn't spicy, but the hot sauce had a good little kick. The crispy beef tacos were good, especially with the salsa . The enchiladas didn't do it for me... that's usually how I judge a place on if I like them, but I didn't really enjoy the sauce on them like I hoped. They weren't bad but just not what I wanted. The veggie burrito was a little odd... it had an interesting flavor and they chose veggies that I rarely have seen in Mexican food (squash, zucchini, etc). I'd definitely come back for certain things or if I want some decent chips and salsa... I'd come back for the atmosphere and try more tacos and some of their adult beverages! I don't live too far from this Latin restaurant, so I thought I would give it a try. The service was so wonderful, but a very friendly staff. Our waiter brought us chips and salsa right away. I had the Jamaica drink. That was absolutely delicious! I also had the wet burrito with chicken. And my dad had the wet burrito with Carnitas and they were both super delicious. The place was beautiful. Inside at a lot of beautiful paintings, and a lot of Mexican art. I highly recommend that you visit this place. My family will be going there again soon! read more

I have lived in Brea for four years and been in the surrounding area for 25, I have passed this little gem so many times, always saying I would go in while I finally did. I have been missing out! The service is excellent, the food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic, definitely not going through the fast food drive-in! I highly recommend trying this restaurant out. I guess just okay. I had a wet burrito half with green sauce and other half with red sauce. Red sauce was my favorite. My sister had a carne asada torta, which she complained it had very little meat. My husband and I came for lunch today and really enjoyed our meals. My husband had a hard shelled beef taco and a chili relleno with rice and beans. Everything was so tasty. I had some of his beans and boy, they are delicious!!! I had two small soft tacos which were not small! I had the pastor which was very flavorful and a chicken which was a little too salty for me but still good. My husband treated himself to the flan, amazing! This place deserves 5 Stars just for the friendly staff, 5 Stars for the awesome salsa and 5 Stars for the variety and flavor! I've been coming here for years... took a few years off, basically because I forgot about it.... but now I'm back full force. So yummy and I just completely love the looks of it in there, kinda festive yet really casual. It's not a fancy restaurant at all but you still get waited on and served with a smile. I have tried tacos, taquitos, burritos, enchiladas, beans and rice (not all at once) and never been disappointed. My favorite, I think, are the cheese enchiladas... or the crunchy tacos.... hmmm... or the seafood plates.... ok, not easy to decide. But the food is all very decent here! Hot. I'm not talking about the spice or temperature of the food, but the restaurant itself. A little AC would go a long way and improve the enjoyment of the meal. That said, the shrimp cocktail is really good. It's flavorful by itself or add some Tapatio for an extra kick. It's mild enough that my six year old can eat it. The chilaquilles with green salsa were good, but the tortilla chips were a bit soggy. I prefer a little crunch for a textural note. The small tacos for taco Tuesday were good. Not king taco good, but for Brea, they're good... better than taqueria de anda. The al pastor was flavorful and not overpowered with pineapple like Chronic tacos. It was moist and had just the right amount of spices. The carnitas were not dry, but there were some some fatty bits. No doubt, that's what gave the moisture and extra flavor to the meat. The asada wasn't dry, but I did get one gristly piece, but it wasn't all chewy. The chicken taco was spot on with fresh cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. The kids meal was okay. My son likes cheeseburgers and fries and this one did not disappoint. But with all of their reasonable prices, $4.95 for a burger and fries was a little steep. The star of the show was the $4.99 you call it michelada. I got a 12 oz bottle of Tecate and a large schooner 1/3 filled with an amazing michelada mix. It was really good and the price was excellent. They have the typical suspects for their other beers: Corona, Dos XX, Pacifico, etc. For a neighborhood Mexican restaurant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner and good michelada's, all that's missing is the air conditioning to keep it really hot and spicy... read more

The Wet Burrito is good and you definitely get what you pay for here. The staff is never anything less than friendly. They've never done me dirty, which I really appreciate. My family, I know for a fact, loves this place more than me because it's the closet Mexican food in comparison to where they live. They have a fairly large selection of foods ranging from wet burritos and tortas to seafood platters and soup. The menudo they have is really good and what I usually get. On occasion I do get albondigas. A medium cup (to-go) or bowl for each is about $4.25. Whenever I get burritos ($6.50) here *as I SHOULD because it's called Wet Burrito* I obviously get them wet because you can't have them any other way. The best one is either their chicken or al pastor. There's also chile verde, chile rojo, carnitas, lengua, cabeza, shredded beef and a few other options. Included on the inside is rice, beans, onions, cilantro and salsa. Usually they put an obnoxious amount of onions so I just have them omit that altogether. The burritos are huge, so I'll be surprised if you could actually finish an entire one. Good food, good service. Will add additional stars when I get wowed with something from their menu. read more

This restaurant has the ABSOLUTE WORST customer service. They made a major mistake on a takeout order and when I got home and realized it was too late to go back for the missing items because this Mexican restaurant was already closed at 8pm on Taco Tuesday. I tried again the next week and checked my order before I left and all looked to be in the bags, so I went home. My family started eating dinner, only to find that the pork tamales were corn. I called and the woman told me that she saw the order for 2 tamales and ASSUMED that they were for corn. I'm not sure why she didn't walk over to me while I waited in the restaurant to ask, or why she didn't ask as she rang me up, but she didn't. She told me over the phone to bring back the uneaten portion of the tamales (7 miles away from my house) and that she would replace them with the only kind that they had left, which was beef. I said ok, but felt very frustrated to have to drive back and forth again and also that I had to transport half-eaten food back to the place where the person that made the mistake was clearly aware it was her mistake. When I got there, she giggled as I walked in at almost 8:00 as my family waited for dinner at my house. I was upset by this and told her that I didn't understand why she needed her own mistake back and she claimed her manager needed to see that the food had been returned! I told her I felt like they should give me some kind of credit or at least apologize for this mistake (added to the omission from my order the week before) and she rolled her eyes and, in a very rude way, asked me if I wanted the beef tamales or not. I said yes and then a frustrated cook in the back said they only had 2 left and wanted to know if I wanted sauce on them or not. I said probably not and he then said that I might as well not get them then because by this time of the night they are very dry without it because all of their food comes frozen!!!! Needless to say I will never go back here and I would not recommend this restaurant! read more
