    Norwegian Benedict
    Victoria C.

PREMISE: I went here on a Sunday morning, an hour after opening. I also have gone for breakfast as well 2-3 hours after opening. WAIT TIME: Both times that I've visited this place, I got seated right away. There are plenty of seats available inside and outside; I've sat both inside and outside and the service/experience was the same for both. When you are ready, you go up to the counter to order + pay, take a number, and then they bring your food to you (whether you order in or take the food to go). The food does take a little bit to come out, but nothing that felt unreasonable; the food does come out piping hot and fresh so the wait time isn't a problem if anything (and still comes out decently fast too). FOOD: I tried two different items: the Norwegian benedict and the Kimchi Butter Fried Chicken benedict. Both items are quite similar, except the benedict itself is a little different. The smoked salmon on the Norwegian benedict was thick (in a good way!); they did not skimp out on the portion for it. The Kimchi Butter Fried Chicken benedict was my favorite of the two though. There is a lot of the kimchi butter sauce and it was so flavorful. It comes with a slice of kimchi as well and it wasn't too spicy or sour of a kimchi slice. I loved the flavor of the kimchi butter fried chicken and the chicken itself was hot and crispy. These dishes both came with home fries (which were hot and crispy, with a fluffy interior), and a light salad which help to cut everything down. I genuinely think this place does the benedicts very well. (The other dishes in this review are meals from others that went with me. I didn't eat their food so I can't speak on the quality of them myself). SERVICE: I'm not sure if this man was the owner/manager of the place but there's this older asian man who greeted EVERYONE with a smile and was constantly checking in on everyone who was there. He was so consistent with refilling drinks or checking on patrons, but not in a way that felt excessive or uncomfortable. He was there both times that I visited and he was always so helpful and kind whenever we had questions about the menu. The other workers who are there are so nice as well. They were always smiling and seemed more than happy to help us if we ever had a request. I would solely go back to support the staff. PARKING: I have never had issues with parking considering the lot has quite a bit of parking. However, the store is located right next to the in-n-out. I have never gone around the time when in-n-out is open, so I haven't ever had issues with parking or getting into the plaza. I still think you'd be able to find parking spots even with in-n-out open, though the plaza can get a little busier when the other businesses in the plaza open up. INTERIOR: It's a decently sized place. No issues with seating inside or outside, whether you have a small or big party eating there. TLDR: I would go back again for the benedicts and the service workers. I actually find the quality of the food SO MUCH BETTER than a lot of breakfast spots that we have in Northern OC. You get seated quickly, enjoy a fresh meal, and receive great service--without terrible wait times or the struggle to find parking. I will definitely have to try their other menu options and update my review in order to provide a more thorough insight on this place.

Came here for breakfast since i heard they have ube pancakes. My god it did not disappoint! It was really good and a lot. I couldn't finish it. Definitely give this place a go for breakfast

I love all things ube and when I saw that Popping Yolk Café had quite a few ube items I couldn't wait to go!! PYC is located in a newer shopping center right next to In & Out. That in mind, parking becomes challenging during the lunch rush. The restaurant has inside and outside dining areas that are both good-sized and comfortable. You place your order at the counter and your food is brought to your table when it's ready. All the employees we interacted with today were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Now for the food. Truly ube heaven, but I was also eyeing their great list of Benedicts. I was here for the ube today so I kept my focus on that :) My foodie friend and I decided to go the breakfast route. I ordered the ube French toast with sides of eggs and sausage to balance out the sweetness. My friend chose the berry and Nutella crepes. My order came out first. There was as an oversight on my friend's order. The kitchen just kinda "forgot" to make her crepes. When the worker realized this, he was super apologetic and didn't make excuses, so even tho there was quite a gap in our orders being served he earned points for how he handled the situation. My ube French toast was beautiful . Coated in something crunchy and topped with coconut syrup, shredded coconut, and served with whipped cream and fresh blueberries, it was a sight to behold. As I cut into the first piece I realized it was also stuffed with a delightful ube paste. SO decadent and delicious! (I ended up taking half of it home for later). I'm glad I also ordered eggs and sausage to balance out all that decadence! On a side note, I'm not sure what kind of sausage they serve here, but it was delicious. My friend let me try some of her crepes and they were also amazing! They add corn flakes in the filling, which adds a nice texture to every bite. Definitely a solid brunch spot. I'm looking forward to trying their Benedicts soon!

Popping Yolk has so much trendy aesthetic SoCal brunch vibes!! this croissant avocado and ham sandwich gives you all the brunch feels And the asian fusion! Kimchi Spam Omelette! Parking here can be pretty difficult. They have plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating, and you order first before dining in. I ordered the Classic Benedict, and it was really good. It came with seasoned potatoes they were super flavorful and well seasoned. The small side salad was also fresh and came with plenty of dressing. Overall, everything was delicious! Recommendation(s): - Classic Benedict Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Parking is hard - Restroom available - Order first and then dine in

    Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict
    Danica

Popping Yolk is one of my favorite brunch spots - lots of variety of brunch items on their menu, cute and cozy decor, friendly service, and delicious food! Their eggs benedict menu is what they're known for, and it has so many unique options. The Nashville hot chicken benedict is a personal favorite. The chicken stays crunchy even after the yolk breaks, and the slaw tucked between the chicken and the english muffin ties it all together really well. The potatoes on the side are crispy and really fun to eat, and the salad is a nice touch too. Just a really solid breakfast spot with a lot of variety and consistently good food. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

The service here is great, the workers are all very attentive and nice. You can sit anywhere inside or outside after paying and there's lots of shade if you were to sit outside. You really get a bang for your buck with the potted plant latte in regard to the size of the actual container (super cute like a vase!). However, I thought the overall latte was a bit underwhelming. Not bad, but it's just an average caramel latte with half-and-half. I was not the biggest fan of the smoked salmon omelette. My friend really enjoyed hers with a side of the homestyle potatoes, however, mine was underdone. I'm not sure if that's intentional but I was under the impression that the salmon would be smoked as insinuated and more well-done. Besides that, I did not care for the overall composition of the omelette itself. Egg was not seasoned nor were the mushrooms and spinach. It's ok with hot sauce added, but without add ons, i would not order this again.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich Kimchi Butter Fried Chicken Benedict Toffee Banana French Toast
    Christina C.

kimchi fried butter chicken benedict was delicious. portions were hefty. nashville chicken sandwich was tasty with two pieces of chicken inside. the banana toffee french toast was crunchy and yummy but could've used more banana toffee flavor. i love the fresh squeezed orange juice and tried the potted coffee and would love to see them add syrup. the service was very attentive and have nice indoor and outdoor seating.

Popping Yolk Brea is Popping!! Great service, the place is clean and the food delish!!! Ordered ube pancake, popping yolk burger and cowboy burger. Their ube latte did not disappoint. Excellent customer service, we were greeted as soon as we came in and friendly servers keep coming back for drink refills. So kind. Lively music and vibin. Lots of parking space. They have outdoor seating as well. Come and dine at Popping Yolk Cafe in Brea!!

great service, easy seating, great food. Kimchi Butter Fried Chicken Benedict (NEW) & a MUST GET! not to intense of kimchi flavor but very umami and savory! and so filling. service: you order your food at the counter than find a seat yourself. servers were so nice and attentive. ambiance: Cute for casual brunch!

When I tell you, this is my new favorite brunch spot, I am not kidding!! First off, my mom is a picky eater, so when she says she loves the food - high praise! The food and drinks reminded me of brunch places in Europe - so high quality, lovely presentation, and a great quantity. We sat outside and it was just such a nice vibe. We got to chat with the owner, who was going around waiting on tables, which is such a nice sight! So sweet and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back and 10/10 recommend if you're looking for a nice, family-owned breakfast place

Pretty yums! We've been here twice now and I highly recommend coming here on the earlier side. We've been here both times around 9/9:30am and it's much less crowded! Our favorite item has been the kimchi butter chicken eggs Benedict - yummy! The sweet items are a little less delicious, and our toddler is a fan of the popcorn chicken and breakfast potatoes. Order at the counter and the bring your food and water out to you. We've sat outside both times (easier with two kiddos and a stroller) and it's been great! Parking in the lot can get kinda crazy but at 9am there's plenty of parking. Food can take a while to come out when it's busy but it was pretty quick when the place was mostly empty. Would come back!

    Ham and Cheese Omelette
    Erika L.

Quick service, lots of fun & UNIQUE food options, great amount of food for the price, and good food. You order with the cashier and then pick a table - it isn't a "sit down" spot. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Kind workers. Restrooms are available inside as well. I ordered their Ham & Cheese Omelette and it was HUGE and filling. I also ordered their EGG COFFEE (aka ICED SPANISH LATTE W/ EGG COLD FOAM) and it was delicious! I want to come back and try their Pancakes next!

I was told it would be taken care of, but after standing there for another five minutes, I eventually became frustrated and switched the chair out myself from another table. A few minutes later, I felt water splash onto me and realized the A/C was dripping water. I had to reposition myself to avoid getting wet. It then took about 30 minutes for our food to arrive, and unfortunately, there wasn't anything particularly special about the meal. When it was time to pay, the cashier again seemed to be in no rush to take our payment. The only time she appeared particularly attentive was when the tip screen came up on the credit card terminal and she asked how breakfast was. I still left an 18% tip, but based on this experience, I don't see myself returning. I used to dine at the Yorba Linda location often, so I know what this brand is capable of. The exterior of this complex has been beautifully revamped, but unfortunately, the interior and, more importantly, the service need to be held to a much higher standard. Breakfast isn't complicated, but hospitality is about the details. Right now, I feel like some of the magic is missing. They have the name and the reputation, but maintaining that reputation especially during challenging times requires consistently high standards and genuine hospitality.

She didn't have a good answer for me, just replied that there were a lot of nuts in the kitchen. I asked her to please let me know what specific nuts were present in the kitchen and if my daughter would be safe dining there. The server seemed dismissive and completely forgot to get back to me about it after she said she would go find out. Of course as a family with someone having a severe food allergy, we run into this all the time. It's not a new thing to feel like we are a burden or a bother. It IS disappointing when it seems the server has never been asked this question before and its even more disappointing when you're also met with a "well why are you asking me these bothersome questions" vibe. This is again, something we experience almost on the daily whenever we eat out. It's disappointing each time. It's a shame as I enjoyed my meal here. I wish more restaurants realized how much their response matters when it comes to customers coming in that live lives balancing danger in order to eat but also deserve to eat and enjoy their dining experience just like everyone else as much as possible. Someone with a life threatening food allergy SHOULD have access to at least some of the menu. Of course sometimes it cannot be helped but in general and as much as possible, if you are serving food, never mind people with preferences. Those who live with severe food allergies navigate a very difficult life and food establishments should know this comes down to inclusivity and safety and more awareness is needed (and at least the efforts to want to try) on how to serve the severely life threatened population. No one should be excluded or at the least it is what restaurants should aim for. Restaurants should be asking the severe food allergy community questions on how to keep them safe as they eat - clear allergen information on menus, trained staff on how to respond when informed that there is a food allergy present at the table, knowledgable on what is safe to eat on the menu and what are some protocols that the kitchen will follow in order to serve food safely and also offer some peace of mind - are all steps in the right direction. Everyone deserves to eat. Severe food allergy do not mean to be a bother. They want to eat and they want to stay safe. No one should ever be told, "you shouldnt eat here" because the food establishment cant be bothered to have some sort of plan on serving food safely to the severe food allergy population.

The owner went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the cafe. The menu is impressive too -- such a great variety of drinks and food. We tried the chicken florentine crepe, which was rich and flavorful, and the plain crepe, which was simple but perfectly executed. The chicken croissant and ham croissant were both flaky, fresh, and packed with flavor. To drink, the dirty chai latte was the perfect balance of spice and sweetness. If you're looking for a neighborhood cafe with great food, delicious drinks, and service, Fraise Cafe is the place.

The Short Rib chilaquiles are very tasty, and the flavors complemented each other so well. I would definitely get this again. It was a somewhat large plate so easily shareable between 2! I ordered the Mexican Mocha latte with oat milk, and it wasn't the most flavorful - it was a mild flavor. I liked it but wasn't my favorite. My mom ordered the steak & eggs, and she thought it was very filling and tasty. A little plain though but to be expected with a steak and eggs, she was expecting a thicker cut.

A couple other employees walked past us and didn't acknowledge us. We both work in a restaurant, she's a server and i'm a manager, you don't just leave a table sitting without saying something. I don't remember our servers name but he was nice. My friend ordered a vanilla latte and the crunch berry french toast. I order a watermelon margarita and the chilaquiles. She got her latte a few minutes after ordering, I didn't get my margarita for about 10-15 minutes. I got it the same time we got our food. When we were ordering the server asked if we wanted a couple of waters, we didn't get them until after we got our food. The chilaquiles were good. I love my food spicy and the flavor hit! The rice was pretty good. I wasn't a big fan of the beans, they weren't bad, but they weren't good. The watermelon margarita was okay, the flavor was nice but it didn't seem like there was much tequila. The french toast was good also. She really liked it, same with the potatoes! The latte she didn't really like, she said it just tasted plain.

It's kind of like a skillet, except you have full control of how much of each items goes into it. Normally I don't like a ton of gravy in this ritual, but something about the gravy and sausage at Paul's Country Kitchen made this Grand Finale especially delicious. I mean--the Char's Country Plate was good in itself. I've had something similar at the nearby Mr. D's with its two sausage patties on a biscuit covered in gravy along with eggs and hash browns. I think the version at Paul's was a bit better. Every bite was a delight. But I think the best bites were reserved when I got that bit a sausage and gravy into the mix with the hash browns and perfectly cooked eggs. Grand Finales are usually a joy, but this one was especially joyous. Also, noticeable was the great service here. I found the servers personable and discerning. They managed to give out good recommendations, answer any questions about the offerings, and still hold good conversation. That's rare at any food joint you go to. Not only that, they held down the fort when it came to refills, getting my order out quickly, and dropping the bill off when it came time. The personal touch here is impeccable. Lastly, the ambience is great here. The space is kind of limited, but they had plenty of booths and tables, 2-tops and 4-tops, and counter space. Everything was decorated brightly without seeming gaudy, and it gave off a welcoming feeling that is traditional with all local diners. I wouldn't mind eating in a place like this regularly. In conclusion, I think I found a new place to have breakfast. Not only that, I think I found a new place to recommend to others when I want to point out what makes a good diner/coffee shop.
