very happy this place opened. bcos it was still new, they didn't fully seat to full capacity. inside was fairly decent size. you had the option to sit outside as well. our server provided great service. it didn't hurt we sat next to the paying counter either. we wanted carbs so we all ordered pastas, and beef carpaccio. 1) we had squid ink tonnarelli. quite pricey but I couldn't hate it too much bcos it was yummy. the shrimp tasted great. good texture. 2) trottole chicken pesto. there were garlic and basil inside. what else did you need. 3) Bolognese. delish but this might be a bit overpriced since there's no true protein in it. 4) Strozzapreti. I ordered it mainly for the 'truffle' but I didn't taste that at all. however the dish was still flavorful. every pasta dish was delicious. we ordered couple desserts: tiramisu (very good but you could prob get that fm elsewhere for half the price). We ordered the Roasted Salmon with seasonal vegetables and the Chicken Parmesan, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. A brand-new place has opened at the Brea Mall, called North Italia. It is actually outside, and the best way to get there is to find the Lululemon store; it is right across from it. Plenty of people were dining here for lunch so we had to put our name down and wait about 15 minutes. The food came out fresh, our server was nice and we loved the pasta. The inside of this place feels open and large with so much seating all around. Our appetizer was the burrata with heirloom tomatoes, which tasted so delicious. Salad-wise we had the chicken and beet salad and the beets were fun and the salad overall was refreshing. Squid ink was shared between us as our main dish and it was good. North Italia has recently opened at Brea Mall. I've came to this place for a first time. It was pretty busy with a 25-30 wait, I opted for the bar seating. I'm always a bar kinda guy. For drink... I must have that limoncello. The best tasty drink you can get. Presentation is super stunning. Feeling real fancy. And tasty. The next item of choice....... Italian meatballs.... cuz it's a very tasty small plate item.... made fresh.... texture were spot on..... it's totally legit. Ok... time for the big one... I ended up doing 2 visits, cuz I wanted to try more items on menu, especially the lasanga which it's super popular at North Italia. Those things sell out very quick. During my visit, I opted for this one fresh pasta dish... bolognese. Presentation is nice... made fresh, like they said. Taste real good. Highly recommended. My second visit... I got very lucky that day... Was able to get the lasagna. Perfect!!!! Even the food runner told me I was very lucky to get this. It's made fresh... well duh!! Very stunning.... tasty... you named it.... everything about the lasagna is good... but since they sell real quick... alot of customers order this.... if you happen to get the lasagna, you're very lucky... if not, then better luck next time. Service was 10/10 Restaurant vibe 10/10 Food... not impressed. Very mediocre and overpriced. The chicken parm was dry with little flavor. I like North Italia. This location at the Brea mall opened a few weeks ago. It has a spacious interior and a large covered patio area. TVs over the indoor/outdoor bar to watch a game. It's a great place for groups. My fam loves their pastas but we tried out their brunch stuff on this visit. I got the chicken parm sandwich. I liked the chicken and prosciutto but the marinara sauce had a light sweetness to it that I didn't really care for. My fam liked the dishes though. And the grilled cheese was a hit with the kids. Service was good. Friendly staff. However they're still pretty new and have some kinks to work out. We tried to make a reservation ahead of time but they said we could only do that with a manager who never got back to us. We showed up early in person to try to get a table and they took a while to seat us even though we were one of the first groups. And it was not like they were at full capacity even when we left. We visited North Italia today with a large party, and if you're unable to get a reservation, be prepared for a very long wait. We waited a little over two hours, which we were okay with, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. They seemed pretty understaffed during our visit. It took quite a while for our server to reach our table with water, and at one point our table started coughing from some powder on one of the dishes. It was hard to get the waitress's attention, which made the moment a bit uncomfortable. The food itself was delicious, but they were out of a few items on the menu. Since they're newly opened, I understand they're still working through some operational challenges. Overall, despite the wait and the staffing issues, I would still recommend North Italia. The food is genuinely tasty, and once they smooth out the service side, it has the potential to be a great spot. read more

I ate a very late dinner here with a friend and it was packed! For good reason, though, since the food was delicious and the place itself was nice and chic. We got the Italian Meatballs, which was perfectly seasoned and flavorful! The Ricotta Cavatelli had a generous serving of both crab and shrimp, and the pasta was cooked to just the right firmness. However only take back is the shrimp scampi was either forgot about it or got sent to wrong table but it came out after we finished the main entrees. The pasta was well made and flavorful. 10/0 STROZZAPRETI . The chicken was tender but it was too soft for my taste. I can't believe it took me this long to go to a north Italia, not only is the service so friendly, the food is actually so so good. I tried the chefs board, the Funghi pizza bomba style, the Bolognese, and ended the meal with the salted caramel budino. My favorite bites were the funky pizza, it has so much flavor. The chefs board is the perfect concoction of salty and sweet flavors and crunchy and soft textures, and it's great to pair with the crust of your pizza. New North Italia is now open at the Brea Mall. I took my family here for Mother's Day, so the place was packed, but overall they handled the crowd really well. We made a reservation through OpenTable and got seated without much issue. Nick was our server and he was great the whole time. You could tell he was working hard and juggling a lot of tables, but he stayed attentive, checked in often, and kept things moving. Definitely earned his tip. We started with the shrimp scampi appetizer, which disappeared pretty quickly at the table. Ordered The Pig pizza, the bolognese, and another pasta dish I can't remember the name of, but honestly everything was delicious. The pizza had a really nice crust and good flavor from the meats, and the bolognese was rich and comforting. For being brand new and dealing with a busy holiday crowd, the experience was smooth and the food came out consistently good. My girlfriend's meetup group made reservations for the soft opening of North Italia's new location at the brea mall. We had 6:45 reservations for 6 and were seated promptly. Service was excellent, servers were generally available but not hovering or intrusive. For the soft opening the restaurant had set up something where diners were offered an appetizer to split, an individual entree, a dessert to split, and a drink of our choice including adult beverages like beer, wine, and cocktails. Everything was complimentary. We took full advantage and enjoyed/shared multiple different appetizers and desserts with the table. 2 ladies ordered wine, 2 tried the pomegranate mule, and 2 of us settled for non alcoholic coke. Everything was tasty and we all left stuffed and with leftovers. The food was presented well and looked as good as it tasted. At the end of the meal we were presented with a check that showed what we would have been expected to pay at regular price. This was fantastic because it allowed us to be able to figure the tip for the great staff who who definitely deserved to be tipped for their time and consideration. All in dinner for 6 with 3 full courses and 4 drinks came to a little over $400 so around $70 per person. A very reasonable price for high quality food. Parking is available in the structure in front of Nordstrom it's a little bit of a hike to North Italia but not terrible. We'll return. read more

Was really excited to come here to try the food for their soft opening. I really enjoyed their truffle bread, mussels, and yellowtail cruido. I thought it was seasoned perfectly. Nero was an amazing server and attended to us with great detail and also paid attention to all our allergies at our table. He was great. The food quality and portion here is great! We got the cheese board, meatball and bucatini pasta, green goddess salad, and spicy meatball pizza. All were delicious especially the salad and pizza. So excited to see North Italia in North OC. I've been going to the one in Irvine for years and it's been a favorite of mine for awhile. The bolognese is my personal go to but I do miss the skinnier noodles they used to use, or that's what I recall at least. The seasonal vegetable salad was also surprisingly good. The Hugo spritz is also way tastier than an aperol spritz in my person opinion so give it a try. Service is consistent here, even with it being a new location so appreciated the attentiveness. The overall ambiance is the same at every North Italia which is modern Italian with an open concept-kitchen, a bar that leads also to garage doors to the outside patio seating area, and plenty of natural light. read more

Came here today for breakfast with my family. We started out with the Banana Coffee cake. The caramelized banana that they put on top was delicious. This item tasted very similar to bananas foster. Because I did not want eggs I order a Margherita pizza which our waiter said was his favorite pizza. I thought it was above average but nothing special. The parking in the structure is a nightmare on the weekend, so I park in the mall lot and walk through the mall to the restaurant. We were vsiting the area and needed to find somewhere for dinner around 9 that was open a bit later, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that there was a North Italia near by! We live in Arizona so they are all over the valley and so it's a tried and true for us. We were surprised to find out that the location had recently opened, and our waitress told us the trainers literally left the day before. The food tasted as great as usual, and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, that can't be said for the lady who was dining at the bar next to us, she was waiting an hour for her pasta to come out. I couldn't help but over hear her talk to the manager over the bar, to whom she reported that she was also there on sunday and had a similar experience. Valid to be frustrated waiting an hour for your food, but if you were literally just there less than a week ago and didn't have a pleasant experience why would you go back so soon? We really enjoyed our brunch yesterday. We walked in at 11 and the place was already filling up. It's recommended to book a reservation on Open Table if possible. Large, open concept inside which allows for lots of seating but it's very noisy for those with hearing challenges. There is a couple large covered patio seating areas with overhead heaters. We actually opted to sit outside and it was much easier to carry on a conversation. Our waitress was attentive, helped us with selecting vegetarian options. They opted for avocado toast, no salmon. Feedback was it was very tasty. We ordered an artichoke with Parmesan cheese and olive oil, served with an aioli. Also had the breakfast pizza, prepared with sausages, eggs over easy, the breakfast sandwich. All came out fresh and tasty. No complaints here! We were so excited to have a new restaurant to try in North OC. Definitely give this place a try. The lunch/dinner options look pretty inviting, and can't wait to try something new soon. read more

It's great to have a location so close to home in Brea! We are used to visiting the Irvine location. I'm really enjoying the setup here. The air was fresh and breezy, and the staff were all so friendly! Everyone I passed seemed like an old friend. The bathrooms were very clean, and I love the little private rooms for privacy. The wait staff greeted us right away and once seated at the bar, they immediately took our order. The bartenders recommended some great items and were very helpful. The food was delicious! The portions were perfect, and everything was fresh. When we asked for more, they were quick to get it. Sometimes though, you don't want to have to keep asking for things. One thing they could improve is "follow-up." We sat for a while with empty glasses waiting for water refills or drinks. There were five or six staff members hanging out near the service bar chatting, but they weren't really paying attention to the clientele. My first cocktail was too sweet, so I left it and ordered something else. No one asked about it, and I never touched it again. There was no follow-up. It just sat there the whole meal. These are small things that could be improved. We love dining at Hillstone restaurants, and maybe we're a bit spoiled because of that. Other chains could learn a lot from the Hillstone model of customer service. It would really make them stand out and become almost perfect if they focused on customer service and being tuned into their patrons. I would definitely return here because maybe it was just an off day and everyone is new. read more
