Where do I begin? Food: I ordered the Penne Arrabbiata with meatballs. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauce was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of spice. The tomato sauce alone is a 10/10. But the real stars were the MEATBALLS! They must use a special blend of meats because they were incredibly well-seasoned and unbelievably tender. Small shout out to the breadsticks which looked like Olive Garden bread sticks but tasted waaaay better. Very buttery and garlicky (: Price: Very fair considering the quality of the food and the huge portions. Honestly, one bowl could easily feed 2-3 people. Customer Service: This is where they really won me over. Since Pastaphony is a growing Southern California restaurant brand, I honestly wasn't expecting such a personal experience. I believe this location is ran by a husband and wife duo. The husband, who was working the front counter when I visited, introduced himself as he took my order... who does that anymore? I'm disappointed because this is the second time my order has been made incorrectly. I ordered my pasta with red sauce, but instead of remaking it correctly, I was given a duplicate chicken Alfredo and a side of red sauce that I never requested. That isn't what I ordered, and it doesn't solve the problem. I get that mistakes happen, but what matters is how they're handled. I would have appreciated my order being remade correctly rather than receiving extra food I didn't ask for. I visited today for the first time and the cashier was an older gentleman and he was really kind. He shook my hand, asked for my name and was friendly. He personally thanked each customer for coming. The pasta itself was cooked well and the pink sauce I got as well was also delicious. I think a point of constructive criticism was the grilled chicken add-on. I wish it was freshly grilled and not pre-prepared or from a package because it took away from the deliciousness of the pasta. The texture was gummy and I could tell it was not fresh. I walked in and there was no wait to order but once I ordered the food took about 30 minutes to prepare which was a bit too long. The owner did say it shouldn't have taken that long after, the dish came out to $29 and the food was decent but I don't think its worth the price and definitely not the long wait. YES! LATE NIGHT PASTA! Just having a late night place open, that's not a bar or cuisine centered around drinking (think some Korean restaurants, skewers, etc.), is a rarity and greatly appreciated. Pastaphony is a new franchise where you can build your own pasta or order the presets combinations that they already have. This location is open until midnight/1 AM on most nights (aside from Sunday), which is a GOD SEND. There's outdoor seating and indoor seating. I believe they share a space with another restaurant, since the restroom is in between to the right side if need be. All of the drinks are canned/bottled in the small fridge that they have and you can see that they're trying to make it into a hang out spot as they have board games and such here too and it's quite close to Fullerton College. The owner, I believe, Aybek (sorry, if I spelled wrong!) was super friendly and welcoming, shook both of our hands and introduced us and welcomed us into the restaurant. Super courteous and friendly and explained the entire menu to us. Food came out decently quickly and was delicious as well, can't go wrong with some pasta, garlic bread, and carbs. He was nice enough to throw in some complimentary Nutella bomb desserts as well. He also mentioned that his wife made all of the sauces. It's neat that there's a mom and pop shop vibe even for a franchise. For our late night visit, we got the: 1) Build Your Own (BYO) Pasta: -For BYO, you get a pasta and sauce of your choice, unlimited toppings, and you just pay a small extra fee for any premium toppings (the proteins). -We got the penne pasta with pink sauce (mix of the red sauce and Alfredo sauce), garlic, parsley, and basil. For the premium toppings, we got grilled chicken. -Comes out piping hot, very creamy and a generous portion as well. We had to take it to go since it was more than enough for 2 hungry adults in the dead of the mornight. -Grilled chicken was interspersed throughout and the flavoring from our toppings choice tied everything deliciously together. There's also parmesan and crushed red pepper packets if you need to add in more seasoning, but it was perfect the way that we had it. 2) Garlic Breadsticks: -This comes with 4 pieces and served with marinara sauce. -Super garlicky and fragrant. Delicious and a staple you can't do without. Fine on it's own and with the marinara sauce, but super addicting and delicious dipped into our pasta sauce. 3) Nutella Bomb: -Super cute that the owner drew 2 Nutella chocolate hearts on the pastries. It's bomboloni (fried Italian donuts) filled with Nutella. Soft and completely filled to the brim with Nutella. Best eaten fresh as the warmth makes the filling more gooey. Definitely will visit again in the future. If you're hankering for some late night eats and to carb maxxx, this is the place to go! read more

We tried four different pasta dishes, and every single one was delicious! We ordered the Spaghetti Chicken Parmesan, Penne Arrabbiata with meatballs, Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo, and the Build Your Own Pasta. While everything was flavorful and made fresh, the Build Your Own Pasta completely stole the show. I chose penne with pink sauce, grilled chicken, spinach, garlic, basil, and chili flakes, and it was absolutely perfect. The pink sauce was rich and creamy with just the right balance of tomato and cream, and the fresh ingredients made every bite amazing. The Chicken Alfredo was creamy and comforting, the Chicken Parmesan was crispy and satisfying, and the Arrabbiata had a nice kick with flavorful meatballs. The portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and well-prepared. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend creating your own pasta--it's definitely the standout dish! We'll absolutely be back to try even more from the menu. But what made this place special was, I assume, the owner. I was looking through new restaurants in the area this past Monday and found Pastaphony. There's an Italian spot nearby named Mamma Mia that I love but had to try this place out because they offer a Build-Your-Own (BYO) model of ordering that's very affordable! Here's what we ordered: **Penne with Butter Sauce: For my free toppings, I added basil, black olives, cherry tomatoes, garlic, spinach, and roasted peppers. For my protein, I opted out for their shrimp which costed an extra $5. Amazing. No further words needed. (5/5) **Fettuccine with Alfredo Sauce: For my free toppings, I added basil, cherry tomatoes, garlic, onions, parsley, and roasted peppers. For my protein, I opted out for their grilled chicken which costed an extra $4. Amazing. No further words needed. (5/5) **Cheesy Garlic Bread Sticks: YUMMY! The main thing restaurant lack is good bread but this place nailed it. There was a generous portion of cheese and garlic for this delicious, gooey treat. We had some hot and fresh which was delicious. We also had a piece later that evening when it was colder but it was still moist and so delicious! (5/5) WOW! Amazing food across the board. It was the first time we had pasta this good in a very long time. Not too salty at all and every single ingredient was so fresh. The shrimp was great but the chicken was cooked to perfection - so tender and moist even when cold! For the base price of $15 for a BYO minus the protein, the portions were MASSIVE. I had ordered online through their website via Apple Pay for an estimated pick-up time of 11:55 AM. When I arrived, the man working the shop gave me an ETA of 5 more minutes because they were busy for the lunch rush which was a-okay. The man offered me coffee on the house but I declined only because I had coffee waiting for me in the car already. 5 minutes go by and an additional 5 extra minutes but I was in no rush. Everything was freshly made to order and it was nice seeing him prepare my food right in front of my eyes. There is nothing more to say other than that this is a flawless and spectacular new pasta spot that I'd feel guilty to gatekeep. There are tables in side and a few outside but I think this spot is more designed for takeout orders. I will be returning again in the near future to try out more of their menu. As much as I love parmesan, I believe the amount of parmesan they gave me was wayyy too much. The pasta was a huge portion that I could share with 2 people and have leftovers, but unfortunately there just wasn't a lot of flavor in the pasta itself. The mushrooms weren't a lot for the amount of pasta as well. $20 is pricey for pasta and I would understand if they made their pasta in house but I believe they don't. Welcomed the new addition to the fullerton downtown scene with an rainy thursday evening visit since it was their first day open! Heidi and crew were very welcoming and explained their store menu and concept, a fast paced pick and choose pasta made to order with some preset menu options if you're not sure which combos works. I would say the restaurant space isn't that large so it is made for the busy work environment that downtown workers who go out for lunch. Wife wanted fettuccini with pink sauce and spinach so that's what I ordered! Food was ready within 5-8 min and a big portion it was! Brought it home and we shared it together. Pasta was slightly pass al dente but that could be from just bringing it home but the sauce was nice and thick and all the pasta noodles were covered in sauce but not stuck together! I also got to try one of their desserts which was like mini donut with nutella which was sweet and great after the pasta!
