I've been coming to this Old Spaghetti Factory for a long time, 10+ years. It's the first and only one I've been to. I appreciate its cleanliness inside (tables, furniture, bathrooms) and easy parking (more people need to use the public parking structure that's literally a 1-2 minute walk). It's Thursday, and I was looking for a last minute reservation for lunch time, on MOTHER'S DAY. After calling literally 15+ establishments, I was so happy to snag a reservation here! Sunday arrives, and we are already running late. I called and spoke to the hostess, and nervously told them we'd be 15 minutes late. I was terrified the reservation would be forfeited. The hostess was very empathetic, told us to drive safe, and that our table will be ready when we arrive. This definitely helped with my stress. We arrive and after checking in we are seated immediately. Our waitress, Olivia, was absolutely amazing! She greeted us with a big smile and was incredibly attentive to our party. She took our drink order, shared the specials, and gave us time to decide on what we wanted. It's common at other restaurants that when you tell the waiter you are not ready, they do not return for a L-O-N-G time. Olivia did not do this. She continued to check on us and did not come off impatient. My mom, who's never been before and English is not her primary language, had a lot of questions from describing all the salad dressings to different fettuccine. Olivia happily answered everything and got our order underway. Our drinks were always refilled and she never forgot a request, whether it was dressing on the side, straws, or extra napkins & utensils. I wanted to sneakily pay the bill while my family was still enjoying their food, so I went inside. Another girl, Penny, noticed I needed assistance and helped me with my request immediately. Lastly, I really wanted to express how amazing everything went so I asked to speak with a manager. As someone who works in the service industry too, I know all too well that most of the time happily satisfied customers/guests/patrons are more likely to move on with their day while disappointed people are the ones to complain. Within a few minutes I met Ashley, one of the managers, and was able to share that this was probably one of the best Mother's Day outings we have ever had, all thanks to Old Spaghetti Factory. I write very few, if any, negative food establishment reviews but I was compelled to rate my experience here.... I have been going to the Fullerton establishment for almost 40 years. My wife and I loved it so much while dating that we had our wedding rehearsal dinner here in 1991. We haven't been back for quite a while so we thought we'd eat there for the sake of of nostalgia. What a disappointment! We went early evening so it wasn't crowded. We were seated immediately but then had to wait so long for a server that we had to summons a hostess to get one. It took a long while to get everything. When we were finally served, he bread was good, the salad was not, and the spaghetti I had was below par at best-- not very hot and super low on meat sauce and mizithra cheese (shrinkflation?). The tiny chicken parmesan that my wife had, however, was the worst we've ever tasted anywhere by far. We wanted to get our bill, but again we had to wait forever for the server to give us our check so we can go back and relieve the caregiver for our disabled son. The price overall was basically in line with what you would pay everywhere else nowadays, but the quality and service was so poor we will not return... and that's a real shame. read more

I haven't been to the Old Spaghetti Factory in probably 30 years. We were taking my girlfriends daughter to another Italian restaurant in downtown Fullerton for her birthday, but the wait was over an hour. We looked for another option, and were surprised that reservations here were wide open on a Saturday night, so we gave it a shot. Parking is hit or miss. There are a few good sized parking lots very close to the restaurant, but they shared by all of the restaurants in the nearby area. We checked in at our 6:45pm reservation time and were seated immediately. The restaurant was moderately busy. The main entree menu is on the placemat, and there is a small book on the table with a multi-page menu for drinks and appetizers. Our server greeted us, and said he'd be back shortly to take our order. We started out with the garlic cheese bread ($9.50). The gals just ordered soft drinks, and I ordered a glass of the Chianti Classico DOCG, Antinori, Peppoli ($10.75). The garlic cheese bread was really good, and came with a small bowl of marinara sauce. About five minutes later, our server brought us a loaf of their sourdough bread. We didn't know they had complimentary bread, or we probably would have skipped the appetizer. I love sourdough bread, and it was very good. They got their soft drinks fast, but fifteen minutes went by and I still didn't have my glass of wine. I flagged down our server and told him that I was still waiting for my wine, and it finally came a few minutes later. I took a few sips, and it wasn't very good. It tasted like a house wine, and rather than send it back, I just drank it. When the bill finally came at the end of the meal, it was indeed the house Chianti, and not the wine I ordered. Our salads arrived next. I just had a house salad with blue cheese dressing. The salad was ok, but the dressing was very bland. My girlfriend got a Caesar salad ($2.99 upgrade), and the lettuce didn't look very fresh and was slightly brown. Her daughter just had a house salad too, and once she started eating it, she discovered that there was a potato chip in her salad. I ate my salad, but they sent theirs back and didn't want a replacement. The manager took the Caesar salad upgrade off of the bill. I had the jumbo lobster & crab ravioli ($24.50) which were just ok. They tasted like they were frozen, not fresh. I know we are not at a high end restaurant, but I expected better for the most expensive item on the menu with such an appealing name. My girlfriend had the spinach & cheese ravioli ($20.99). Hers was also just ok, with the same lack of freshness. Her daughter had the fettuccini Alfredo ($20.75) and enjoyed her entrée. These two dishes arrived from the kitchen with some Parmesan cheese on top. If you want more cheese, the only option is a cheese shaker on the table like at a pizza joint. All of our dinners came with a choice of ice cream, and we all chose Spumoni, which was good. Sadly, the bread and ice cream were the best parts of the meal. Service started out ok, but gradually got slower even though a large party in an adjacent dining area left half way through our meal. Our server was friendly though. There are many better places to go for a good Italian meal, and we likely won't be returning. read more

This review is really to shout out Lindsey. She is very professional, personable, attentive, and knows her job and she does it very well. This was not our first time being served by her, so for her to give the same type of service we've gotten from her in the past, says a lot about her work ethics. Came here as a chaperone with a bunch of kids during my kids field trip to the train station. The kids enjoyed their spaghetti and salad. They were organized with getting the kids seated and plated. The decor also went along perfectly with the trains transportation theme, it made the kids think they were really on the trains. This is the first time I've been here since my college days. I remember the waiters would come out and sing happy birthday to you. So nostalgic. The food for me was pretty basic but I also ordered a basic item. I used to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Duarte monthly. It was always a treat to get their delicious pasta and spumoni dinner each time. And even when I started traveling with Toby, we still occasionally hit the Spag Fac in places like St. Louis and Seattle, each with their own regional specialties. So it was nice seeing that there are plenty around in Southern California aside from Duarte. The Meat Lover's Treat still hit like a truck full of flavor. The bread was still as filling as ever. And the ice cream was still a good capper to the evening--even as they got rid of the coffee that used to come with the meal too. I think the quibble I have is the price. The service was still super and the ambiance of rail cars and nostalgic photos will never go out of style. But the price is way more than I would pay for a similar. I remember when the same meal would be in the $12 to $13 range and not the $22 to $23 range. I know all restaurants have gone up, but because I've been coming to this food joint in one location or another since childhood so this price jacking feels egregious. The food still kicks ass, like I said. But when a restaurant makes me question is the meal worth it, you know the quality isn't high enough to erase the sting in the wallet. I'm not sure if it was an off-night for the staff or that's the state of the service industry for chain restaurants. While our sever was friendly and checked with us as needed, there was a few mishaps with the delivery. We received an item we didn't order and one of the entrees was served much later than the rest. Also, I think they're suffering from shrinkflation - the appetizer portion sizes appeared smaller than before. We ordered appetizers: Calamari. Pretty good. We always get the calamari. Artichoke dip. It was ok but not how I remember it from the last time we visited. Garlic cheese bread. This was the item we didn't order. This was quite good and I think we'll order this instead of the artichoke dip the next time we visit. My true disappointment was the dish I ordered. I decided to try something new and ordered the Garlic Shrimp Fettuccini. This sounds like a dish that shouldn't disappoint but it did. The shrimp was overcooked and mushy. I couldn't eat it. The pasta was fine. We'll likely visit again in the future as it's a good place for group dinners with picky eaters. I'm not a picky eater but I'll not order the Garlic Shrimp Fettuccini again! The moment we walked in, I was struck by the smell of old furniture. However, that didn't deter me from ordering and eating SO MUCH FOOD. I especially loved the sourdough bread and butter! As for my entrée, I got the wild roasted mushroom ravioli and it was slightly too oily for me, but I still enjoyed it! Good mushroom flavor and yummy sauce! This remains one of my family's favorite restaurants. We dine here quite often, and spend many special occasions here. My husband and I enjoyed date nights at the bar top. All the staff is always friendly. The food is always amazing and I just love the interior of this place. Its elegant but afforable. I typically order the spinach ravioli, the half clam sauce half marinara spaghetti, or the chicken parmesan. My husband always gets the lasagna. My grandpa gets spaghetti and meatballs. You really cant go wrong here. Its also a great place for kids, as my 10 year old nephew really enjoys eating here. If you sign up for the app, there are many great perks including a birthday meal! The Old Spaghetti Factory is an old favorite from our days living in Southern California . I have nostalgic memories of visiting the location near Pasadena. This location in Fullerton is near Disneyland and is a sound choice if you're looking for a big dinner after a day in the park . It was nice to look this place up and see they are open late - until 11pm on a Wednesday. We arrived around 8. Parking was easy, the restaurant was not busy and we were seated immediately . Unfortunately they chose to put us six adults in a booth. Although their booths are a little bit bigger than normal, they certainly only can seat four adult people comfortably . It appears that they set a lot of those booths for six place seatings which seems ridiculous to me unless you mix a few little kids in there. It looked like there were other seating options, as the restaurant was pretty empty but I was too tired to complain. We were seated elbow to elbow, which made it very hard to enjoy a heavy three course meal. The ambience presents as a nice restaurant but from this experience, I found that the sardine seating and quality of the pasta dishes was mediocre. I like that they also offered soup or salad and a dessert with each meal. Once my spaghetti arrived, i asked for fresh parm and was told that there was none available. I thought this place was called the old spaghetti factory meaning they specialize in pasta. Fresh Parmesan is just a luxury that isn't offered here. They did have the dry stuff on the table, just like a pizza place would. I liked my dinner just fine. I ordered a spaghetti dinner with a meatball and sausage. It came out with a whole sausage not even cut up. It tasted fine. It was a lot of food for one person. My husband ordered the mushroom ravioli, and loved it . My teens seemed happy with their dinners but my 16-year-old son with a giant appetite couldn't finish half of his meal because he wasn't a fan of the fettuccine Alfredo. I have to say the highlight that I remembered from the entire meal was that the minestrone soup was exceptionally good . I realized after everything arrived that a lot of these pasta entrees are big enough to share. In the end we were so stuffed, not all of us could even have the ice cream that was included. I haven't been here in over 15 years. I couldn't remember why I stopped coming. We used to go to the Hollywood location that is now closed. Someone posted a limited time price rollback which was only good for the month of January. We went on the last day. The classic 3 course meals were only just under 16 bucks! That is a great deal. The decor is dark wood and old fashioned in a cool way. We made reservations online. We got seated immediately. The sourdough bread was hot and fresh! The salad was really good. It was sizable. The balsamic salad dressing was delicious. We also ordered the cheesy garlic bread. It was hot, soft and yummy. I would definitely order it again. The little spumoni was a perfect ending. It's not 5 stars for 2 reasons. The first is the service. It's a pet peeve of mine when they don't clear the salad plates before bringing the entree. I ended up having to ask someone to please take my used plate. The other issue was the spaghetti. It's kind of funny that the least memorable item was the pasta and namesake. It was just "meh". We had to ask other staff members for extra napkins, salad dressing, extra plate, etc. Posting this review now, I noticed that icecream was included with entrée. Our waiter never mentioned that. Not really claiming to be an authentic Italian place, OSF is the kind of place that families come for gatherings or people come for a moderately priced semi-nice experience. The restaurant is heavily train themed with train decorations, a red trolley you can request to eat inside of, and a view of the train tracks (this OSF is located at Fullerton train station). The food itself is plentiful for the price. Everything comes with soup or salad, bread, main, and an ice cream dessert. You'll be full. The pasta is a bit on the soft side but their white clam sauce and mizithra cheese is actually pretty good. It's also very kid friendly. read more

I've been living around here for a long time and I even work close by but I finally got the chance to come try this spot. And im sad I haven't come sooner to try this restaurant! First the atmosphere is super cute ? I like the train design of the restaurant! We came here on Monday and tried their Monday special ! The price was great 25 dollars ? For meatball ( 4 ) spaghetti with salad, bread, and soda ! And the flavor and taste wasn't compromised! But the best thing of all was their service ! Alright, overall. I'll break down all the items. Minestrone soup 7/10 This was very salty. I couldn't even stomach the broth. The salt content ruined it for me. Sourdough bread 3/10 Way too hard! You couldn't even bite into the bread it was so hard. The outside and ends were not editable. I love sourdough bread, but I've never had to so hard you can't eat it. Mizithra cheese and browned butter 7/10 It had good flavor. But for me, I need sauce with my pasta. I'm glad I ordered a side of Alfredo to put on top. That made it a thousand times better! Mushroom sauce and meat sauce pasta combo 7/10 Not bad. These two sauces together were very acidic. Maybe an Alfredo sauce with one of the acidic Spinach and artichoke dip 2/10 Not my favorite. I've always loved the old spaghetti Factory growing up - in Newport and in Duarte. I loved the historical buildings and the interesting furniture and ambiance. It was not like the other restaurants. I also loved the good food and service so much that I asked my husband to take me there for Valentine's Day. He did a wonderful job of making a reservation a week ahead. :) When we walked in, the hostess walked us all the way back to an add- on patio and took us to this tiny little 'normal' table wedged in between multiple party's which had multiple people, kids, balloons and presents. Since it was special, and we didn't want to feel like we were sitting in just another fast food restaurant, we decided, to change our seats and asked the hostess. Since we made a reservation, we felt we deserved to be at least sat in an interesting comfortable place, maybe a booth or one of the tables with fun chairs? We were able to wait a moment till they found something else. I mean it's a giant restaurant and it has lots of fun tables! We watched People came in and out for about 10 minutes. Parties of 2,3,4 - all sizes. They still didn't seat us. In fact, we finally stood up in the waiting area, because the front desk girls all seemed to be forgetting about us.... No mention of 'we'll get you a table soon'. When I finally got up to the main hostess standing around, and I asked if they had anything available soon. (I mean, we had made a reservation) She gave a snarky smile and paused for a good 30 seconds (awkward) and stared at me like I had no business asking her such a question. lol Her still staring at me with the high school mean girl smile, I say, 'we can sit at a 4 person table.....' and she finally snaps with , 'there's nothing open for you right now. (They literally just sat 10 small groups - mostly walk ins) Finally something opened, still mediocre, but what can we do? They obviously didn't really care whether we had a reservation or not. The food was good, our server was sweet, but the experience was unfortunate and tainted my opinion of the place. Update: I appreciate the nice comment back from customer service. Unfortunately, this was my worst experiences at OSF. We were here celebrating an anniversary and Christmas. Service, Sam, was fine. The food - the chicken Parmesan, specifically, was probably the worst I have ever had. And then the pasta was even worse. The entire meal was not edible. It's so so disappointing to write this review, as my husband and I in laws love this chain. We always go to the one in Rancho Mirage, Newport, and San Diego... but I am sincerely hoping this was a one off on the food. read more

FYI if you are GF or have allergies they will not substitute. You have to pay for the 3 courses no matter what. I asked if instead of the bread and ice cream (which I have allergies to) if I could have an Italian cream soda and the manager said no, I would have to pay extra. So just an FYI, if you are thinking of coming here. Also we were told by our waiter before we ordered that we could use 2 coupons if they were on separate checks and at the end the manager told us we couldn't. I remember going to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Hollywood as a kid. This is a very charming and spacious location with adequate parking. The restroom was very clean. The restaurant has a train theme and you can see an actual train pass by in the parking lot. We had a large family get-together here for lunch. We had salad with balsamic dressing, fresh sourdough bread, choice of spaghetti with meat sauce, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, or alfredo with chicken and broccoli, and spumoni or vanilla ice cream for dessert. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and although it was tasty, it could have used more sauce because I was left with some dry/plain noodles at the end. The place was very welcoming. We revered for 14 people and they only started setting the tables together when we got there. I got the lobster raviolis which were delicious. But two people though there wasn't a lot of sauce that came with the pasta and requested extra. it's was an additional cost. They were skimping on the sauce though. It's so delicious wish they just provided more of it. read more
