BJ's was an easy choice after an afternoon hanging out at the new Brea Mall outdoors playground. A friend and I shared the full rack of baby back ribs and I have to say, it was pretty good - wasn't dry or overly sauced. The included fries could've been a little crispier, but the garlic roasted veggies was good. We also ordered Jambalaya and it was delicious. The southern flavors are all there. Of course, we couldn't leave without getting a Pizookie. I can't believe the full size is only $5! It was enough to be shared among 4 people so that was nice. read more

If you want perfect service just go to Japan and you will see. The ambiance or atmosphere is ok. You may deal with screaming babies and football games on the TVs. Spur of the moment visit that turned into an enjoyable lunch. Tried the $13 lunch special and it was really satisfying. I opted for the unlimited soup and salad and was so glad I did! The mozzarella and tomato caprese comes with arugula and was fresh and delicious. Other options were Caesar, house, and wedge but I stuck with the mozzarella and tomato. Soup options were Green Chile Tortilla, clam chowder, and broccoli cheese. Didn't get to try the broccoli cheese (too full), but my fave was the tortilla soup. We started off with drinks, which were decent. As mentioned, he got a beer & I got some blood orange cocktail. Next came our Avocado Eggrolls & Calamari. They were both fresh, crispy, & flavorful, which took me by surprise. We also ordered individual pizzas (forgot to take photos ), & that was also surprisingly yum (BF said they're known for their pizzas which was why I ordered it). It was hot, crispy edges, a good side, & full of flavor... would definitely get again. Went in for a late night dessert. I wanted to use my free birthday pizookie reward before it expired! The place was filled with people & the sounds of sports looming through the air. It was a 20-min wait for a table, so we walked to the bar area & found an open table. We knew immediately what we wanted - pizookies & coffee, please! Our server was so nice... she even greeted me HB! The salted caramel pizookie w/ vanilla ice cream was sweet... I could hardly make out the 'salted' part. The toffee in the cookie made for an extra lil crunchy/ chewy bite, which I love. The triple chocolate Ghirardelli was divine - it was so rich, w/ a hint of that dark chocolate bitterness. We came here for dinner on a Monday night to use a gift card, and they had affordable deals for their food. For example, BJ's has half-off large (14-inch) pizzas on Mondays. When we ordered the great white pizza (has chicken and a creamy Alfredo sauce), the price went down from $34.99 to $17.50. The Alfredo sauce was a little too strong for my palate, but I did like the pizza texture. At the end of the day, this was a cost-worthy deal as we also got a lot of leftovers. We had also gotten the avocado egg rolls ($16.49) as an appetizer. We didn't care much for the sweet tamarind dipping sauce. It tasted vaguely like honey. Overall, these tasted adequate, but I don't think they're worth their price tag. They also came at the same time as our meals, so they became more of a side dish. I also gave the clam chowder a try but found the flavor and texture to be too rich. From the $13 pizookie meal deal, I got the enlightened Mediterranean chicken bowl. It came with grilled chicken, diced vegetables, vinaigrette, feta cheese, a little bit of Greek yogurt cream, and a mix of quinoa and brown rice. The chicken was soft and juicy; the seasoning was adequate. I wanted to give quinoa another try, but it didn't have much flavor. Even with the vinaigrette and diced vegetables, I didn't feel like the meal was very refreshing. However, it was still filling with just satisfactory flavors. The chocolate chunk pizookie was really good. It's basically a baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. It came in a small plate, so the serving size was perfect for our big meal. It's really sweet, so we drank water right after. Service was good, but I wish we got all our meals at the same time and the appetizer at first. One of us got the unlimited soup and salad combo. We had to be proactive with our server to request refills of soup and salad. Our server was busy, so refills weren't offered when we got plates and bowls picked up. This was built as Magnolia's Peach a high end restaurant and bar in the late 1970's early 80's BJs has retained much of the original design including brick work, tin ceilings etched glass, and a antique bar. Service was excellent , fresh coffee was brewed, menu items explained. And needs met. Impressive crew. I ordered the steakhouse salad and requested medium Rare Mom ordered the chicken parmigiana. . Server was understanding and made sure we had a good experience after the food came out. We had a great experience here. We came to try the holiday items. I ordered the Tipsy Snowman which had Bailey's withe a cute little Snowman Marshmallow. I ordered the Jambalaya with pasta noodles. It was pretty good but it tasted like the flavor had been toned down compared to the past. For dessert, we had the Dubai Chocolate Pizookie and the Monkey Bread Pizookie. Did not have a good experience today and I don't think we'd come back here anytime soon. It had been a long while since we'd had BJs, and today my husband was craving their jambalaya with the rainy day. I ordered on their app and noticed I forgot to add my apartment number, so I called the store immediately to let them know. The person on the phone tells me orders are delivered through DoorDash, and there wasn't much they could do, and suggested I cancel my order and do it again with the apartment number, but as he said "it'll cause a delay in your order ". So I asked why would I need to do that, when they can simply WRITE IT IN?? Isn't that the simplest solution?? Well he did do that, but apparently wouldn't have had I not brought it up. The delivery was late by almost 30 min, not because of the dasher, but because the dasher literally had to wait almost 25 min for the food that was supposed to be ready by 4. The food itself was not good. I had the tri-tip bowl which I've gotten in the past, and it was extremely salty, and at &24.95, very overpriced. All I ended up eating was the actual steak and guacamole. My husband stated his jambalaya was also salty and very greasy. I used to really like BJs, but I feel like this experience was the nail in the coffin for me. If you're in the area and hungry, do yourself a favor and skip this place, cross over the 57 and check out California Fish Grill instead, wide range of healthy options, much better quality and lower prices. read more

My husband and I stopped in for the first time and had a very nice experience. Jessica, the host, was very welcoming when we arrived, they sat us in less than 20 minutes. Raymond was our server and he was very attentive and helpful with the menu, which we appreciated since it was our first visit. I had a few modifications to my order and he made sure everything was put in correctly without any issue. The food was delicious and came out quickly. I went on a Saturday evening, checking in online for the waitlist at 5:22pm. We arrived to the restaurant around 5:40pm and were told it would be another 15-20min. Ended up being seated at 6:05ish. It was nice they accommodated us having a dog, seating us at the patio. We were both going to order their weekend special combo - pork chop or prime rib. But our waiter said they were sold out of both, and we were told we could not swap another entree to get the special. Pretty unfortunate that they don't make enough for their weekend special that gets customers in the door just to disappoint and not offer it. Settled on a salad and pizza which we know are solid. My entree salad came out to the table 5-10 minutes before my Dad's pizza, which should be served at the same time. Had to ask our waiter for water refills, which took a while since he was assigned the entire patio area in addition to having to run food from the kitchen. With the specials issue, long waits to be seated and get our food, and no food runners, we could tell this location was poorly managed, and under staffed for the weekend crowd. This is our go-to BJs location as VIP rewards members, and they missed the mark on this visit. Being told they couldn't even give us a small pizookie to honor their special or to apologize for the poorer service is very cheap of them. read more

We decided to stop by BJ's for brunch while in the area picking something up, and honestly the best part about the entire experience would have been the great parking and three minute wait time to be seated. Once we got past that hump, almost every part of our experience took a downhill turn. I don't recall what our server told us exactly, but I recall that he said it was a new system on their tablets, I'm not sure if he said he was new or not. The entire time we were there, it felt like we were waiting....constantly waitiing, no matter what it was that we were asking for. The first was a very unwashed knife.....that we had to remind our server about....then had to flag another server down for.... For appetizers, we opted for the lemon pepper wings.....which came out burnt. We asked for a side of buffalo sauce....and waited.....until our entrees came out. Circling back to the new system on the tablets, I ordered the Hickory Brisket and Bacon burger, which was very good, but my wife ordered the Italian Parmigiana Chicken Pasta, and received the Parmesan crusted chicken. At this point, we didn't want to argue, and my wife was okay with what she received, so we decided to just let it be. We had wanted to order either a pizookie or the mini pizookies, but after waiting and waiting without so much as a refill on our drinks, we opted to just take our food to go. Therein, we asked our server for to-go containers.....then asked another server for to-go containers......then waited for the bill. Even that took a while to come back...along with to-go drinks.
