This California Pizza Kitchen restaurant is conveniently located right next to the south entrance of the Brea mall. They have a covered outside patio in addition to indoor seating. On a late Monday afternoon, we were seated immediately at a table against the back wall with comfortable padded bench seating. We were quickly greeted by our server who brought us complementary sourdough bread bites with olive oil flavored with herbs and spices. We came here since my girlfriend was craving their Tostada pizza (thin crust, black beans, queso and Monterey jack cheese, lettuce, tortilla strips, scallions, herb ranch, roasted tomato salsa, $20). I decided to stick with the Mexican theme and ordered the Carne Asada pizza (marinated steak, cilantro pesto, shaved poblano peppers, yellow onion, mozzarella and Monterey jack cheese, cilantro, served with roasted salsa verde, $21). About fifteen minutes later, our server arrived with my pizza. Unfortunately, he had some bad news that the kitchen had accidentally dropped her pizza and they were remaking it right away. We were offered a free dessert to make up for it. Her pizza finally arrived about ten minutes later. We have had these pizzas before and enjoyed them again. They are pretty filling and we both took home several slices for later. For our free dessert, we had the mini butter cake flight (dark chocolate & brownie crumble, fresh strawberries in puree, and smoked bacon & maple, all served on small butter cakes with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream). They were all good, and this plate is a perfect sweet finish for two that won't leave you in a sugar coma. Our server Daniel was very friendly, and very apologetic about the kitchen mishap. I appreciated the free dessert, but in hindsight her pizza should have probably been comped instead since I was almost done eating by the time her pizza finally arrived. We used to come here once a week for lunch. We came for dinner and I noticed 3 weeks later that my card was charged twice. The dollar amounts posted twice to my account and the money was taken out twice. Spoke to the manager and there is no resolve. I sent proof that CPK charged me twice and the dollar amounts posted and they won't refund me. He promised he would "do something" and it's radio silence. While at the Brea Mall I was hungry and wanted a pizza so I decided to drive this location. This location is very cool it's in the corner near the back near Macy's. It has a decent size amount of seating and the customer service is great. Came in for their happy hour specials which is Monday through Friday, 3-6pm. Big plus is that they serve the happy hour in the whole restaurant and not only in the bar area. It's CPK, so service is professional and friendly. The restaurant itself is clean and modern. For happy hour we got their pizza and beer for $9, white corn guac & chips for $6, and the dynamite shrimp for $8. All dishes were excellent and nicely sized for the price. Everything tasted great. They also give you fresh and warm complimentary bread and dip. You can easily get full in their tasty bread and dip alone. It's a solid happy hour and I would go back again. read more

Updated review from my last one where the salmon was super dry. They have new items in their menu, including a salmon with a nice lemon caper sauce. I just had to try it since I love salmon more than pizza. I was very happy with it but I did mention to the waitress if she can have the cook keep an eye on it because it's very easy to overcook. It arrived very well cooked over a linguini pasta. Hubby had a BBQ Chicken Pizza and he almost finished the whole thing. We started with their Street Corn appetizer with grilled bread and it was amazing as always. Their complimentary oil & bread was simply delicious too. Of course we had dessert after. The drinks were really good, and the Berry Sangria was definitely my favorite! My boyfriend and I stopped by during happy hour, and we had a great experience. Came for Happy Hour (3-6, M-F) and they have some pretty good deals. Plus, it applies to the whole restaurant, not just the bar. Pizza and a beer for $9 - choices are original bbq chicken, pizza, or cheese. Other drinks are $5 (draft and bottled beer), $6 (well), and $7 (wines). Different food choices for $7-$8. Tried the white corn salsa and it had a good, spicy kick from the thinly shaved jalapeño. The Firecracker shrimp was good and the slaw made it better in texture and taste. Other times we've had the pizza and it's been good. Lots of selections to suit any taste. There's also a bake and take pizza for $9. Not sure what the choices are. For a Friday night (5pm), we were seating quickly and the service was quick and friendly. It's a pretty spacious place and is at one end of the Brea Mall. I figured it'd be good to revisit a place I've grown up eating at, everyone knows it! The hosts were very polite and accommodating, I waited for the rest of my party and they already went ahead and set the table up while I continued to wait, definitely real go getters. It's been a long time since I've visited but their main thing I always looked forward too as I sat down was their soft and crispy bread and olive oil. It's by far one of my favorite plates i get compared to other restaurants that give out the same before ordering. Since I've been, they've done some menu refreshing, I had to give their braised short rib ragu a try and really see how it would taste. Avocado egg rolls to start but not pictured, those have always been a staple, comes with 6 and they're decently sized. I'd say perfect size for a shareable. The short rib ragu itself had wonderful flavors. It wasn't too heavily drenched in sauce to where that's all I'd pick up, I'd say there was a little less short rib than I would have liked, I felt it was quickly done with it and still had a good amount of pasta to finish. Nonetheless the pasta tasted great; the short rib itself was tender... like very tender. I was pleased with it, it separated really easy, it wasn't dry, cooks did a great job with it! Definitely something I'd get again when I return. I wasnt feeling any room dessert but I was peer pressured into choosing something and I'm glad I did because it didn't make an impact, and everyone at my table was wowed with the upside down cheesecake. It was dense, but it wasn't too dense to where it felt heavy, the sauced fruits added a great refreshing spike with each bite, it's exactly how I like my cheesecakes to taste. I'm sure you have all been to a cpk at least once, it's one of those places that's been around the block for a while, I like how they aren't doing full crazy rebranding and changing their look, it's nice to visit and get a reminder of how the place was when I was younger, and the quality is still great which I'm always happy to see even as time goes on read more

Gift cards usually bring us here and we don't mind at all. I would not come here otherwise. Located on 2nd floor towards Macy's. This night was very busy, loud, and 3 kids crying at the same time. (Of course its parents issues)But there's alot happening. People seem to really like this place by the looks. Im not sure what I'm missing. The food and drinks are not that good and very expensive. Ill post a picture of the salad I was served with a spoon. I'm not sure if thats a joke but even my daughter's noodles pasta came with a spoon. We had to ask a waiter fixing another table for forks. When hostess seated us our table was uneven and kept rocking back and forth like alot. We asked to be moved and they did. The first thing you see when you enter this place is rows of uncleared tables. it's a very uninviting sight. The wait staff leads you to one of the few clean tables which is bare with no utensils. Seems you have to ask for these. The waiter took our order promptly enough and the food arrived in good time, but after we finished we actually had to get up and hunt the waiter down to ask for the bill. Amazing, our server Justin is the sweetest little fruitcake I've ever laid my eyes on, this saucy little firecracker has the personality of a tyrant mixed with the voice of an angel! Dined here with my husband on a Sunday morning around 11am. We were seated right away upon arrival. Our server Chris was friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. He consistently refilled our waters throughout our meal and checked up on us. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza. My husband was stuck between the garlic cream fettuccine or the Mac and cheese. Dinner after shopping with my family. The food is amazing. It's fresh and delicious. My son love the mushrooms pepperoni sausage pizza and my daughter love the garlic cream fettuccini with rotini. Rotini is better for toddler because it's tender. The service is quick but the server is not friendly at all. They look very overwhelmed and it's hard to ask for drink refills. They got my pizza wrong and told us that they make a new one and should come out around 15 minutes but after 30 minutes, the pizza didn't come out. The manager went to the kitchen and gets it for us right away. He apologized and gives us credit for the pizza. I really appreciate the manager's effort to solve this problem. California pizza kitchen has always been a tasty spot to eat. I had the Cedar plank salmon, Tostada pizza. Food came out fresh. Salmon was flavorful with a hint of smokiness from the cedar plank. The Tostada pizza was a Nice twist to a pizza. Staff were friendly. Although the host was on her phone when we walked up and did not look up to greet us for about 1 minute. I always say you can tell how clean a kitchen is by how well the bathrooms are maintained. The bathroom was a mess. Had a pretty solid meal at CPK. We ordered the Caesar salad, creamy garlic fettuccine with chicken, BBQ chicken pizza, and the margherita pizza, and everything came out quickly and well-prepared. The ingredients tasted fresh, especially the salad and pizzas, and nothing felt overly heavy or rushed. The creamy garlic fettuccine was comforting and flavorful, and both pizzas were consistent with what you expect from CPK -- dependable and satisfying. I ate here today, and honestly, it will be the last time I come to this location for a long time. The food was fine and our server was attentive, but most concerning was the fact that he brought us our food and when we flagged him down to say it was wrong and just ask for what was missing he said he had to take the whole thing back because that was likely someone else's order. The impression we received was that he would give them that food still, even though it had been given to us already and was sitting at our table for several minutes. I sincerely hope that wasn't the case, but he definitely made it seem like it was. On top of that, I had dined here a couple weeks ago with a different friend and found plastic tape in my soup. The manager never apologized, just made excuses, and didn't even offer to remove the meal from the bill. My review is strictly about the service at this location; the food was fine. On Saturday, my friend and I chose to dine at the Brea mall CPK and I'm sorry to say that our designated server Christopher, was sullen, unsmiling, and not solicitous. He greeted us by saying "I'm supposed to be taking care of you today" as if we were thrust upon him, and his energy continued to be so taciturn and lackluster, we actually asked him if he was having a bad day. Instead of reading the room and adjusting his attitude accordingly, he merely said his "day was fine," and continued to provide what has been my most absent and unpleasant service in recent history. I never saw him smile once, he plunked items on the table and seemed wholly disinterested in our experience. After bringing our appetizer, we politely asked for forks and he grumbled, "they had one job," meaning, I assume, whoever was responsible for laying out setups. The irony is that Christopher himself had one job -- to smooth over any mistakes and provide friendly and welcoming customer service, a standard he utterly failed at. The manager stopped by briefly a few times, but it felt perfunctory and didn't leave much time for concerns. In fact, we had to flag the manager down after not receiving parmesan cheese from Christopher despite requesting it. We asked the manager for the cheese, and he held up a finger as he had a conversation in his earpiece. We had to wait while he concluded said conversation, then repeat our request. All in all, the service was severely lacking and really put a damper on what could have been a great catchup between friends. read more

**I already emailed corporate** I was recently in to order my typical chicken piccata pasta. My entree came out with very bland and sauceless noodles. I asked for extra sauce and was told it'll be $2 extra. I'm not sure how that makes sense when the dishes had no sauce and I'm fixing the taste is my dish due to that. The kicker is the lady next to me got the same fish and we ordered around the same time and her pasta definitely have more sauce to start. My son also got a kids cheese pizza and I'm not sure how it came out voted with flour on the bottom and basically all white in some area with no sauce. Came here for Dinner on a Thursday night. Arrived around 7:10 pm. Checked in with host and was told we will be seated in about 10 minutes. We weren't seated til 15 minutes after. Our sever was great. What we ordered ~ Garlic Fettuccine w Chicken was yummy and delicious but seems like a rad but on a smaller portion size. I'd think the pasta bowl center would be filled up at least but it want. He came in replacing the bathroom toilet paper cause his night shift was ending. Saw he threw the wrapper of the toilet paper inside the trash can. This is something unacceptable because imagine if there was other guest coming into the restroom and saw this. Luckily I'm not prone or wasn't too alarm since he left really quickly as we were exciting the stall and had a quick glance to see him. But my daughter saw enough to know his gender. Today my daughter and I received the worst service I have ever experienced. We arrived five minutes after the restaurant opened. Laura acted as if she was late for an important date and rushed through our order, never asked if we needed refills on our glasses of water, and brought my salad to the table without the grilled shrimp on it. I had to wait for it to be cooked while my daughter waited patiently with her food in front of her. I have no problem with mistakes, but common courtesy is a must. It's always a treat to come here and have my favorite meal! The cedar plank salmon is so delicious, especially paired with a glass of Moscato wine. Average food and mediocre service which was disappointing as I used to look forward going to CPK growing up. We came on a Friday evening and were able to be seated right away. By around 6:30pm, there was definitely a line so come early if you're looking to avoid a wait. I had my baby with me in our stroller, but the hostess told me I had to park the stroller outside and could not bring it in the restaurant. I had no problem doing that, but as soon as I was seated, I noticed the table diagonal from us also had a baby and were able to bring their stroller inside. Another group that arrived after us by about 10 minutes were also able to bring their stroller inside so I was very confused at the mixed messaging on their stroller policy. My little one was too small to sit in a high chair so I had to hold her since I had to leave the stroller outside so needless to say, I didn't have the most ideal dining experience trying to juggle holding a baby and eating at the same time. We decided to order "The Works" pizza ($19.99) and a full size "BBQ Chicken Salad" ($18.99). Complimentary bread and olive oil were brought out as we waited for our food which took a little under 20 minutes to arrive. When the salad arrived, I was definitely disappointed to see how little bbq chicken and toppings there were relative to it's $19 price tag. The bbq chicken is served chilled and most of the salad felt like it was primarily iceberg lettuce and chopped tomatoes. The Works pizza wasn't any better. The taste was fine, but definitely very ordinary and there was nothing special about the crust or the toppings. Service was also very lackluster with our server only coming by to take our order and provide us with the complimentary bread. Our food was brought out by another worker and no one bothered to check in on us throughout the duration of our time there. I really don't like giving negative reviews and would have given CPK 3 stars, but deducting one star as the stroller situation really left a sour taste in my mouth.
