It's close to both colleges, the service is attentive, friendly in a casual setting, you can see their giant orange ball of a wood fire oven and the pizzas, calzones comes out respectably fast enough so if you're hungry, you won't be much longer. The menu offered quite a few vegetarian friendly options which left me with way too many choices, but the tricolore did not disappoint. I was hungry but even if I wasn't I know this would've still be excellent. The tricolore comes with smoked mozzarella and pesto, two things I always wanted on a pizza but never could get as well as additional pine nuts! It wasn't too much or too little. You get a nut every couple of bites to remind you they're still there. Fresh cherry tomatoes and delicious sauce. The crust is baked to a crispy perfection. The Napoli calzone was new to me with the cheesy topping, it was the sandwich pizza you'd always wanted, the size is big but very attainable. Don't come back Christine. I dont even like pizza and i brought my mom and aunt here bc a friend took me here once and i enjoyed it. But this time alot of the bottom of the pizza was burnt on the bottom and owner said it's normal. Burnt bread doesnt taste good imo. Good thing it was just half of both pizzas and good thing our initial 1st pcs were ok, except for my mom who i saw later was tearing the bottom off bc she can taste the bitter burnt part. Came in on a Tuesday evening around 7pm and was seated immediately! After our dining experience here, I'd be annoyed if I had to wait a long time to be seated because the pizza was just okay. We got the mozzarella bar to start off. It was refreshing and pleasant! A nice appetizer. Then the pizzas is where the disappointment came in. We got Rocco's pie and the Fuoco. Rocco's pie was pretty good, but the ricotta didn't go well with it in my opinion. The Fuoco was not good at all. It was so dry to eat. I see the idea they were tying to go for; however, the execution was poor. There was so much arugula on ours that I literally couldn't taste anything else. It was too overpowering and bitter. The shaved parmigiano was ok as well. This just tasted like something scrapped together lazily. When you can make the same thing with ingredients from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods... it's quite disappointing. Finally tried this place. Love wood fired pizzas. Service was very attentive. The restaurant is pretty large to accommodate. We only had to wait 20 min on a Friday evening at 8pm. The pizzas are very unique. There were too many options to choose from which made it hard! We opted for the Calzone and the Vespi. The calzone was the most unique version I've ever seen. Normally it's folded in half like a giant hand pie. This one was in the shape of a pizza and a light sauce on top. The toppings were in center. My vespi came with no sauce and I substituted goat cheese for ricotta. It was garlicky and delicious. I would say I couldn't taste the hot honey it said it had. But it was so different not having sauce as the base layer. It brought out all the flavors of the toppings more. Can we talk about the spumoni bomba!! MUST!!! It's so so good!! The truffle flavor also isn't very pronounced, which is a bit disappointing considering it's the main selling point. It's fine as a pizza, just not particularly memorable. The interior feels like a very typical pizzeria setup and the service is pretty average. They mostly left us alone throughout the meal, which isn't bad but also didn't feel especially attentive. The overall experience really leans into the "authentic Italian pizzeria" vibe, and the pricing definitely reflects that. The flavors, the texture, the dough--everything is exactly as it should be. They even use authentic mozzarella imported directly from Caserta, the city famous for producing the finest mozzarella, along with top-quality flour and outstanding tomatoes. Their salads feature unique and delicious combinations, and their antipasti are everything you would expect from authentic Italian cuisine. You can even find the famous Pizza di salsiccia e Friarielli, made with the traditional Neapolitan greens that are a true specialty of Naples and almost impossible to find elsewhere. The Vesuvio has a bold smoky flavor, while the Funghi e Salsiccia is nicely balanced and full of flavor. Their salads are also a hit and very generous--one salad easily fed five of us along with our pizzas. I also tried the bruschetta for the first time, but nothing to really rave about except the bread itself was pretty good. Service is always friendly and attentive, and even though food can take a little time, it's understandable since the pizzas are freshly made. There's a small parking lot in the back that fills up quickly, but there's usually street parking nearby.
