We were feeling too lazy to cook on the 4th of July and, with so many places closed for the holiday, we decided to try Cafe Patio Korean Chinese Food after passing by it. The moment we looked at the menu, it instantly reminded us of Seoul--we had just been there a week ago! One of the dishes we ordered was the stir-fried chicken gizzard, which was something we absolutely loved while in Korea. I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. The flavor was very authentic and brought back memories of our recent trip. We ordered a few other dishes as well, but the chicken gizzard was definitely the highlight of the meal. To top it all off, we were seated on the patio and ended up having a great view of the 4th of July fireworks. One of the best spots to grab some black bean noodles (jjajangmyun) and spicy seafood soup (jjambbong). I love that they offer a half and half bowl too! They give a healthy amount of seafood in their soup, mussels, squid, and the broth is served hot and satisfying. Tangsuyook or fried pork in sweet and sour sauce is a must! We also added the popcorn chicken and something about how they fry their items leaves the food crispy for days. Hubs has recently been a Thai tea fiend and the definitely enjoys the option here. My husband and I had a wonderful early Valentine's dinner last night. The soju based seasonal Valentine martinis were phenomenal. We got another round because they were that good. The pork fried rice is buttery, fluffy, and full of pork. The pan fried dumplings are the best in town and made with love. The egg rolls are so light and crispy. Came in on Sunday for happy hour with a couple friends and got seated immediately in one of the booths. The interior is similar to any Korean Pocha, with multiple TVs streaming different channels. We got the Bulgogi Fries and Popcorn Chicken off the Happy Hour menu with a pint of Asahi. The bulgogi fries were good, but the popcorn chicken was sorely disappointing. I don't think it's unfair to speculate they're bought pre-made and frozen, as they were all practically crumbles you'd find at the bottom of the bag. They had a strange sweet flavor with an undercooked floury texture. The bill came out to over $50 after tax and tip. Cafe Patio is a beautiful hidden gem. Honestly, it doesn't even look like it belongs in the area. It's like a spaceship ripped this restaurant off of some beachfront and relocated it next to downtown Fullerton. The food is delicious. My friends and I are crazy about the jjajangmyeon. It's the best jjajangmyeon I've ever had. Most other things are good too. The chewiness of the noodles are perfect and addicting. Tangsuyuk is good too. I also liked the honey walnut shrimp and the omurice. The drinks are pretty good and very affordable considering prices for alcohol nowadays. You can get an individual soju cocktail for less than $10. I do have one thing to complain about. I came here once close to midnight on a Saturday on a bar crawl to enjoy some soju cocktails. When we tried to order soju cocktails, the staff told us that "we can't make them because the lady who makes the soju cocktail went home." ...Isn't that insane? You're telling me in your entire restaurant only 1 lady knows how to make soju cocktails? Not "sorry, the kitchen is closed." Not "sorry, we're out of ingredients." It was "sorry, the only person who knows how to make them went home." That's ludicrous! It's not like I asked for a Beef Wellington. Even drunk college students can throw together a soju cocktail. But that was a one time thing. Just really stuck with me because it was so ridiculous that I couldn't forget and I needed to get it off my chest. We tried this place for the first time to eat Korean Chinese cuisine. Firstly, we shared egg rolls as an appetizer. The egg rolls tasted good because the vegetables seemed to have been seasoned with sesame oil. I had the jjajangmyeon, which was a tasty big bowl of long noodles with diced pieces of meat and onions. We also had chicken chow mein, which was part of their happy hour menu. While the restaurant was clean, we did notice some gnats flying around. The portion sizes are great, and the happy hour prices are competitive. Service was good, and they gave us a water pitcher. The restaurant was relatively empty at the time, and it was easy to find parking. I find that Downtown Fullerton already has a good amount of free public parking as well. read more

As someone who used to be a server it was always an honor drinking with customers and it also builds connections with the crew. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday night around 8pm. Everyone was really nice and attentive. One Hispanic lady took our order but forgot to put it in but Kelvin came to save the day after. I'm sure she was busy and we were talking to her too so she got distracted haha. Food came out really fast though. - 1/2 and 1/2 noodles were great. 4/5 - Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings were decent but not the best I've had. 3/5 - Pork Belly Pork fried rice was pretty big but was standard. 4/5 Overall, we had a good time with friends. I want to start off with, they close the kitchen 2hrs earlier than what is stated on Yelp if it's not busy. It was a bummer when we showed up hungry as can be the first visit and were told they were closing the kitchen but that just grew our anticipation for the next time! The spot is really popular for their Soju cocktails. I ended up getting the berry flavor and was not disappointed! Definitely wasn't as strong as I thought it would be, but it was delicious and the popsicle in there was so refreshing and not too sweet halfway through my drink, I smashed up the popsicle into the cocktail and it tasted even better. My friends and I ordered a few items and shared, I think thats the best way to go about it. That way you can try a few different items at the same time! We shared the pork belly kimchi fried rice, we all got our own corn cheese, chili wontons, and the fried dumplings. We wanted the short ribs, but they're not on the menu anymore. 10/10 kimchi fried rice and corn cheese is hands-down the best combo ever! Unfortunately, the chili wontons weren't the greatest and they came out kind of cold we couldn't finish them, the fried dumplings were huge! I've never seen dumplings that big before they were tasty, but had an interesting taste. We were so full at the end and glad we shared everything! Staff is super friendly, super helpful, they have a button at the table. If you need any assistance, they only come around if they see empty plates to clear them. They have inside and outside seating, we got there at around 6:30pm or so and wasn't too busy. They open at 5 PM so I wasn't too surprised but as time went on it started to fill-in. Hidden is a small strip mall of small ethnic restaurants, Cafe Patio was a nice find in Fullerton. This particular evening I was looking for a place to bring my laptop to do some work while enjoying a nice small meal lured in by the spicy won tons***** very delicious and only one more dish, the won ton soup****. Both were very satisfying and filling for a snack to work by. Easy parking, the staff were attentive and cordial. I stayed longer watching the end of a Lakers game as well as continuing the work from the day. Another plus was it is open late this Sunday evening till 11pm. Generous portion (like 20 slices) with super flavorful chive salad and plenty of radish. Exactly what I was looking for. Bulgogi fries were very good, the mix of sauce with the bulgogi made for a delicious combo. Corn cheese was a generous portion and perfect temperature. It was VERY sweet, like sweeter than any corn cheese I've had. Like creamed corn with cheese. Their happy hour is from 5-7 pm on weekdays which was perfect! Peach Cocktail and Mango Cocktail: The wine glass rim is coated with sugar. There are plenty of chopped fruit in the drink either mango or peach. There's a cute heart-shaped ice that has a slight bit of juice. The drink itself is on the sweet side so you won't notice the alcoholic taste that much. I used to come here all the time with my sister and we absolutely loved it. We don't live particularly close so we eventually just stopped going but my boyfriend and I were in the area, on our way to another restaurant and I saw Cafe Patio and honestly freaked. I was so excited, I completely forgot how delicious this place is and I knew right there our other dinner plans were going out the window and I'm so glad my boyfriend got to experience the deliciousness that is Cafe Patio! The service is amazing, extremely attentive and really quick, they also have service buttons at the table and once it's pressed you wait seconds before someone shows up, the ambiance is really chill so it makes for the perfect little date night spot but also a great place to watch a game and converse with friends. The food is beyond delicious, I don't think I've ever had something from here that I didn't absolutely love. The vegetable egg rolls were cooked to perfection and I actually really liked that they cut them in half, the sweet and sour sauce was a really good paring. The bulgogi fries were always a must so my boyfriend ordered those and they were good but we definitely wished there was more bulgogi and when we asked for an extra side of it, the waiter said because of pricing and their system, they couldn't do that but all in all, still delicious. My absolute favorite thing used to be the soy garlic wings, I could eat so many of those and still want more but I wasn't feeling wings so I ordered the fried spicy garlic entree with chicken (comes with rice) hoping it would essentially be the same thing and it was! Been here about 6-7 times now. I love the patio seating esp during summer nights. Just makes the ambiance be like a Korean pocha. The food here is good and love that they offer happy hour. The food here are in a reasonable price range and the waiters/waitresses are also so friendly here. I do think the gizzard I got was on the chewier side, seems like they used frozen and defrosted gizzard so the quality was okay but the flavor of the gizzard stir-fry was still good. We came across this gem after a Costco run! We wanted something away from busy downtown... They have a parking lot, so we did not struggle trying to find a spot. We walked in and were greeted right away. The ambiance was perfect, there a couple tables with young people and a few with families, the music was 90's and low enough to hear but be able to enjoy a conversation. The location is perfect because it's located near downtown Fullerton, but far enough from the chaos. It's only about a 10 minute walk to DTF. Another thing that makes this location great is there's plenty of parking! This place has some good deals during happy hour(pitchers of beer and soju bottles). My friends and I always get a couple bottles of soju, couple pitchers, and few dishes to munch on while drinking haha. They have many Korean food options to choose from and our favorites are the fried calamari, bulgolgi fries, and fried chicken wings. Can't go wrong with these three dishes as they pair with beer and soju well! That being said, the service here is good and the waiters are attentive. We tried this place on Saturday night. I have been very hesitant on trying this place for years. I think it's because maybe the decor, maybe the fact that the doors are always open, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I personally do not like Chinese food. However the food is a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisine and it is delicious...... We got the orange chicken, the beef chow mein with some white rice and I strongly recommend getting the spicy mustard for a side condiment.
