This place has just declined over time. Went in to get some infused vodka. The vodka selection has shrunk over the past few years and I had to spend 5 minutes searching for the flavor I was looking for. Went over to find some of my favorite ales, but unless you want a single California craft beer, just go somewhere else. Imports are a joke and the only thing you will find are the foreign mega breweries. Found a product that was not there last time and headed to checkout. This place has an issue with opening registers and I am third in line behind a guy stocking his Xmas party and a woman buying 20 bottles of champagne and wine. I try to get comfortable holding my basket full of liquids. I wait. Finally, the manager calls over the woman for VIP bottle service at the manager stand. He begins flirting with her and they are having a jolly old time. Must be easy for him to get phone numbers with each purchase. I finally check out and the checker asks me if I want a bag. I have 2 half liters and a six pack, of course I need a bag, I only have 2 hands. I get a bag for the half liters, but not the six pack. I now get the privilege of walking across the parking lot looking like a drunk juggling my purchase. read more

Came here with my friends about 10 of us. We booked a reservation a few weeks in advance for the 2 hour class. We did the wine class California uncorked. We brought our own food , charcuterie board to go with the 8 wine tastings. Connor was just fantastic! Knowledgeable and just a great personality. They sell tall boys individually and are carrying newer products, which is great. I really want to try the Korean beers, but who knows if it tastes any good. And I also wish they had an actual Dutch brand other than Heineken, because that shelf is mostly Belgian. I love shopping here because they have so many options of everything! Their staff is super friendly and always open to help you with recommendations based on what you are looking for and within the price range. They have a few unique things I enjoy. They have the wine tasting which legally you have to pay (any amount) and try the featured wines/beers of that day. They have a display of what they have and easily accessible bottles. They also offer their tasting classes that fill up really quick. One thing I had never noticed before is the free chilling service. I was looking for a wine and they didn't have any chilled. at 4:35ish on May 3rd myself, my brother, my bf, and bf's cousin walked into total wine. first thing we hear isn't hello welcome it's, do you guys all have your ID's? yes we do. we know the policy considering we've shopped at this store for nearly 3 years now and have never had issues. by the time we get to the registers that same white manager came to the registers and instead of how it normally works, when the cashier asks for ids, then checks and scans them, he felt the need to check each one of ours, holding up the line. being unnecessarily rude to people who are young and look young is distasteful. the cashiers are always super nice, managers suck. yes I understand it's your job, you don't have to be an ass, and yes you're probably reading this, I'm the one who asked if you were going to check everyone else in line? I am always trying to get into classes and tastings at Total Wine Brea, but they are always booked full months ahead of time. I was fortunate to grab a few spots for a recent Tensley wine tasting event and had a great time. I like how the event room is arranged in a horseshoe shape which makes it easy for the presenter to pour wines and everybody can see and hear everybody else when questions are asked. There was a nice spread of meats, cheeses, crackers, grapes and pate available to enjoy with the wines. Amanda from Tensley did a great job with the presentation and used the big screen TV very well to provide a wealth of information. Danny from Total Wine was the host and did a great job getting things set up and helping out. I enjoyed all the red wines but the All Blocks red blend by far was my favorite. But apparently, that was too much for the bitter cashier lady to handle. She decided to ID me -- the one NOT buying alcohol -- and then refused to complete the purchase. Because... logic? Love to come here to get Brewery X seltzers and beer. They are not always in stock, but at least they carry them. Recently, I bought two 12 packs of seltzers. After I got to my car I looked at my receipt and realized they overcharged me a dollar for each 12 pack I went back inside and they gave me what was overcharged A few days later I was in the store and I was curious if they corrected the price. They did not! I told the same manager that was there a few days before when I was overcharged. He laughed and asked me if I was checking up on him and I replied to him that I was! This time he took the tag off the shelf and I assume he was going to correct it. It is very disappointing they did not correct it after they overcharged me a few days before. Pay careful attention to the actual price when you shop here. It was not that much money, but it was the principle of the whole thing. Just think if they charge each person an extra two dollars because they are not labeling the shelf correctly. Overtime they will make a tidy profit. read more

The closest location to me. Every time I come here, I never walk out empty handed! The large selections are almost endless and I can always find something new or unique to try! Most of the employees are usually always helpful as well, and sometimes they can give you some great recommendations too. I usually get wines, whiskeys, tequilas, or even Sake. Although I do feel like the alcoholic accessories and tools are a bit expensive. But this place never gest too crowded and I'm usually in and out within under 20mins. Be on the lookout for their signage, that may show temporary deals. And I love all their descriptive labeling as well, helps make shopping a little easier! My boyfriend and I don't know much about champagne or wine but we wanted to have a champagne night. Danny assisted us and gave us samples of champagne. We decided to get Richebel thanks to Danny. He was so nice and answered all of our questions about champagne. We also got Borrasca sparkling wine. You can't go to Total Wine and not browse so we walked around and also sampled Nectar hard seltzer. They were refreshing. The vendor was so friendly and fun to talk to.
