Simple kindness. My husband is 76 yrs old. He was sitting in a chair outside the business. He's disabled and needed to rest. The table and chair are on public sidewalk. A women came out then went back in to get a man to stand outside next to my husband to intimidate him because he was sitting on a chair. He didn't say a word to him. He just stood there. It's a public sidewalk. Who has that right to make someone feel uncomfortable. Horrible people. Do not patronize a business who are cruel and judgmental. Not worth one star. Little deli and restaurant combo in a very busy shopping district in La Habra. The people who work there are very kind and have an excellent memory for faces. The menu is decent, I'd maybe wish for a few more options on sides but what they do offer is very tasty down the board. And some delicious proper German beers for a reasonable price. The first time I came here, I dined in with my husband. We thought we should order at the counter, but the friendly lady told us to take a seat in the dining room and she would help us. She was super sweet and we really enjoyed having her as a waitress. I had a ham and cheese sandwich on a french roll, which comes with potato salad and a pickle. He had their currywurst with fried potatoes. We both loved our lunches! My sandwich was basic, but it was exactly what I was looking for, just a solid homemade sandwich. Their potato salad is pretty good, and the pickle was great. His currywurst was delish! The veal sausage they used had a super soft texture and the sauce was heavy on the curry, slightly spicy. I couldn't get enough of the perfectly fried potatoes, I kept sneaking pieces and dragging them through the yummy curry sauce. I returned a couple weeks later solo to pick up lunch to go. This time I went with a Stuffed Cabbage Roll with rye bread on the side. YUM! Only $10 for this super filling lunch, one huge cabbage roll stuffed to the brim with a delicious ground beef mixture, swimming in a big pool of light tomato sauce. We wanted some German food. This place does not even cime close to German Food. The Weiswurst was rolled in some souce and the potatoes came out of the air fryer without any seasoning. Way overpriced. But the kicker was when I entered the Market. Usually I spent ca 150.oo per visit. Of all the items in the store there was not one single one with a pice. When I asked the lady why there are no prices listed she told me that I have to ask. Really? does the price depend on what car is parked in front? Expensive car, higher prices. Naturally I left. I found this place on Yelp and I loved it. I was craving deli style sandwiches and this place was a hit. My kids shared a wiener and potatoes and I got a ham with macaroni salad and hubby got the reuben. We also shopped in the store side of the restaurant and we got chips and peach streusel and apple streusel and cheesecake and I got extra pickles. It's cute and clean and family owned. I tried this place for the first time yesterday and the sandwiches were horrible! I went it excited after reading a few comments on social media, and will never go again. Maybe years past it was good but not today. I ordered two turkey sandwiches and a pastrami. The turkey look like cheap, thin, tasteless store brand turkey. No offer of cheese and the lettuce was old and washed out in color. The pastrami was warmed in the microwave if that gives you an idea, but it wasn't fatty, and was decent just not worth 14.75, which leads me to how I was charged incorrectly for two hot sandwiches instead of two cold sandwiches. It wasn't worth the drive back for the two dollars and I was honestly embarrassed for them. Do yourself a favor go to Lascari's deli on Lambert you will pay about the same amount for a huge sandwich and get a fresh baked roll, and real deli counter meat. read more

Came here 07/15/2022. Took my grandpa out here for some lunch. Continental Deli is a mom-and-pop German deli that also sells sandwiches and sausages. We got 2 items. Bratwurst: 9/10. Served with a dollop of potatoes, sauerkraut, and bread. The bratwurst itself was cooked well with a char but somehow it was really soft. Almost like it was a chicken sausage. I don't know why! Reuben Sandwich: 8/10. A bit gristly for my liking but the portion was generous and filled to the brim with meat. Was on my way to a winery because I had a free day (5/29/22) with no kids. Lol. I wanted some freshly sliced cheese, but I also had eaten since 6:30AM. Hello, Continental Deli. It's a German deli in La Habra, CA. Kind of in the middle of a plaza with ample free parking. The employees were super sweet and highly efficient. They made my day when they obliged to make me a cheese plate at 1/2 lb. (about $11). The hot pastrami on rye ($10.99) was so delicious. Even though I got it to go they let me eat in their cute little dining room. The meat was sliced thin and piled on thick between two soft pieces of rye. Also in my takeout container was a half-sliced pickle and a scoop of potato salad. Ask for Schnitzel or Rouladen meats. They have daily soups - just ask if you don't see the sign! Their soup and side dishes come in three sizes: small or 1/2 pint ($3.50-3.75), medium or pint ($4-$6.50), and large or quart ($12-13). They have homemade baked cookies neatly packed in cellophane to the left when you walk in. They have a few German market items and some alcoholic beverages also for sale near the deli counter. This is a great German deli. It's simple and no frills, but the food is very good. I'm just happy with a liverwurst sandwich. It's got good ingredients and is just made well. What a great find. Thanks to our friend 'Big Walt' we discovered this quaint German retreat hidden in the heart of La Habra. Truly a family affair, with a one of a kind brats and the best potato salad! The currywurst was DELICIOUS and if you're like me and are tempted to swap out the fried potatoes for a different side, DON'T. You won't be disappointed when you taste the combination of those perfectly golden fried potato squares with the curry ketchup sauce. Instead, I added a side of the red cabbage, and after tasting the famous Continental potato salad off my husband's bratwurst plate (also glorious), ended up ordering scoops to take home from the deli side of the store. Macaroni salad was tasty, but the showstoppers were the two styles of potato salad (the German potato salad is more vinegar based, not Mayo, and has bits of crunchy onion mixed in). The texture of the Continental potato salad is addicting with slivers of hard boiled egg and textures of mashed potato. SO DANG GOOD. Do yourself a favor and snag a few bottles of the homemade spicy mustard and the curry ketchup. I was told "you get refills when you bring back the bottles," so I'll definitely have to be back! read more

If you are looking for really great German food, you have come to the right place. For as long as I can remember Continental Deli has been in La Habra. In high school my first girlfriend was German, her mom an excellent cook, so I acquired a taste for authentic German food. When you walk in you will be greeted by the very kind staff. You have a stellar selection of fresh sausages that you can order in a cooler to your right. One of the things I got into during pandemic was their bread. I remember not being able to get bread anywhere, and yet the had fresh and amazing bread. In the coolers along the back wall they have a great selection of German import beers. On top of that they have a lot of different German delicacies and delights. One the other side of their shop they have a restaurant! You can have any one of the sausages prepared for you from the front. They do a pretty good breakfast. Sandwiches are top notch and the meat cuts are better than most. I really love their schnitzel. The pork is very tender, not heavily breaded. It isn't oily or greasy either. Just great food all around. I do know that they have a good following for soccer there so you can always pop in to watch a game. They have beer on tap too so you can just stop by for a beer. This place has existed for a while, but I can't believe I"m only now trying this out. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and the Reuben sandwich. Both came with a potato salad and the portions were very generous! It seems like this deli is family run. We called in our order and the person who rang up our order was an older man. There is also a sit down restaurant connected to the deli. I have not tried that... The sandwiches were good! They have a lot of meat in the sandwiches and the bread tastes good. I think that it may be German rye bread? the potato salad was really creamy. I think that it's a great deal for the price -- generous portion. Walked in today just to check it out after a quick trip to Michael's. I didn't try their sandwiches today but in the glass counter I saw some cabbage rolls. I decided to grab 3 and warm them up with rice for an easy lunch. They are massive with a ton of meat but aside from that I can honestly say these are the most delicious cabbage rolls I've ever had.
