Little deli and restaurant combo in a very busy shopping district in La Habra. The people who work there are very kind and have an excellent memory for faces. The menu is decent, I'd maybe wish for a few more options on sides but what they do offer is very tasty down the board. And some delicious proper German beers for a reasonable price. I recommend the currywurst in particular, but every sausage I've had there was tasty. All in all, highly recommend it and I will be going back.

The first time I came here, I dined in with my husband. We thought we should order at the counter, but the friendly lady told us to take a seat in the dining room and she would help us. She was super sweet and we really enjoyed having her as a waitress. I had a ham and cheese sandwich on a french roll, which comes with potato salad and a pickle. He had their currywurst with fried potatoes. We both loved our lunches! My sandwich was basic, but it was exactly what I was looking for, just a solid homemade sandwich. Their potato salad is pretty good, and the pickle was great. His currywurst was delish! The veal sausage they used had a super soft texture and the sauce was heavy on the curry, slightly spicy. I couldn't get enough of the perfectly fried potatoes, I kept sneaking pieces and dragging them through the yummy curry sauce. I returned a couple weeks later solo to pick up lunch to go. This time I went with a Stuffed Cabbage Roll with rye bread on the side. YUM! Only $10 for this super filling lunch, one huge cabbage roll stuffed to the brim with a delicious ground beef mixture, swimming in a big pool of light tomato sauce. Loved sopping up the sauce with my bread. I will definitely be back often to try more of their amazing German menu!

Very nice place Wonderful service Pleasant staff The ambience is lovely with lots of German decor. I got the bratwurst plate with potato salad and sauerkraut. It was delicious and very filling. They have a special house mustard which is superb. We have been here before and will certainly come back. The only reason why they miss a star is because I wish they let you mix and match. For instance, I would love to have one bratwurst and one knackwurst on a plate with the sauerkraut and the potato salad. Prost!

My husband wanted a deli sandwich and we were in the area, so we stopped by this cute little German deli. He said the corned beef Reuben was excellent! The kids and I also loved our food! So simple, so good! This deli has the best potato salad! I normally can't stand potato salad and won't eat it; Continental Deli makes a GREAT version of potato salad. Can't wait to come back soon! The owners are very welcoming! Small area for dine-in available.

The food was fantastic! The cheesecake was to die for!!!!!! Pastrami sandwich was delicious, pickle was super crunchy, and potato salad was such great flavor! The Ruben on rye was just the right amount of perfect. The server had a great personality and he was super kind! The lady behind the register was my favorite and she made me and my mother's whole day! What a great place for delicious food and great service with real personalities! And can't forget great beer on tap!

I found this place on Yelp and I loved it. I was craving deli style sandwiches and this place was a hit. My kids shared a wiener and potatoes and I got a ham with macaroni salad and hubby got the reuben. We also shopped in the store side of the restaurant and we got chips and peach streusel and apple streusel and cheesecake and I got extra pickles. It's cute and clean and family owned. I love that they have a store attached. I am telling everyone who will listen to me that they need to come check this place out.

Great chill deli to get to get a fabulous sandwich, cold German beer, and fantastic potato salad. There is deli side and a restaurant side. In the deli you will find authentic imported items. Just love their selection of sauerkrauts, and other pickled items. Service if friendly and the whole experience feels homey. Highly recommend the liverwurst with soft rye bread and spicy mustard. Yum Yum !

Came here 07/15/2022. Took my grandpa out here for some lunch. Continental Deli is a mom-and-pop German deli that also sells sandwiches and sausages. We got 2 items. Bratwurst: 9/10. Served with a dollop of potatoes, sauerkraut, and bread. The bratwurst itself was cooked well with a char but somehow it was really soft. Almost like it was a chicken sausage. I don't know why! Reuben Sandwich: 8/10. A bit gristly for my liking but the portion was generous and filled to the brim with meat. Overall service was really nice and I have a soft spot for mom and pop shops so 5 stars! :)

Pastrami on rye... so delicious. (5/29/22)

Is Split Pea Soup on the menu?

Yes we do. Just that the soups always change

We will definitely come here to support a family owned German deli in La Habra!!! But, is there anything vegan I can have with a pretzel, kraut, and Heffe?

Maybe the vegetable soup or a modified version of the stuffed cabbage? The meat is what makes the Deli great though.

Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my boyfriend got the Hungarian brat with spaetzle, and our friend ordered the Hungarian brat on a roll. Starting with the schnitzel: it wasn't completely terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. The breading was some what soggy and sliding off the chicken, and the chicken itself had almost no seasoning besides an odd lemony sourness. The mashed potatoes were honestly awful -- extremely sour, like they were overloaded with sour cream but missing butter, salt, or any real flavor. I LOVE mashed potatoes and only managed two bites before giving up. The red cabbage was overcooked, mushy, and had a slightly off taste. Overall, the schnitzel plate was maybe a 2/10, and those points go solely to the fact that the chicken itself was technically edible. My boyfriend's meal somehow managed to be worse. The bratwurst was fine, but tasted frozen and reheated rather than fresh. The sauerkraut, according to him, "tasted like dirty socks." The spaetzle was genuinely offensive -- mushy, overly bland, and tossed with what looked like hydrated diced mushrooms that literally tasted like dirt. I honestly questioned whether it had gone bad. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself felt dirty and had a strange smell throughout. It honestly seems like a place locals may still visit out of habit or convenience, but it no longer reflects what I imagine it once was. It's unfortunate, because there's something special about a restaurant that's been around for 65 years and still tries to maintain its old-school charm. Sadly, the food and cleanliness just don't live up to that legacy anymore. Save your money unless you're only stopping in for an overpriced German draft beer. We definitely won't be back.
