Sunday brunch brought me to quaint and hidden gem in Whittier: Toast on First. A little corner joint where many locals come to enjoy a delicious, no frills breakfast after church and for the brunch hour. The coffee is served hot and fresh. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the bacon avocado Benedict that was tasty as it was appealing in presentation. The ambiance is quiet and casual perfect for two people enjoying a meal and conversation. Thank you Toast on First.
I ordered the simple breakfast plate and a Spanish omelette plate. The Simple Breakfast was pretty good overall, everything on the plate was cooked well. The eggs weren't burnt, bacon weren't too soft or too crunchy, the toast had a good crunch, the potatoes were pretty bland. The Spanish omelette was a nice size, but it was pretty average tasting. I would not recommend to add cheese and jalapeños for $3 more to the potatoes. Overall from everything I ordered I was not impressed, everything was average and I wouldn't go out of my way for it. My bill for this came out to $60 before tip which I believe is expensive for what I got and other brunch places in the area. The staff were friendly and the food came out quick. The Ambiance is casual and simple.
We found this place randomly. It is located in a dying stripping mall. You might miss it if you can't see a little "squarish" place's name. It has a white patio/outdoor at the end. There were NO customers as we entered the restaurant, perhaps we came in rather late, an hour before closing. Nonetheless, considering there's no one inside the place, the service was aloof, distant and not attentive. As staff were going home, the two waitresses did not check on us for refill of coffee and water. When we paid the bill and generously tipped, we said, "bye!", the waitress was seating with her phone glued to her face. The food was decent. I ordered the "House full French Toast", and it is loaded with sliced strawberries and bananas, and drowned in chocolate drizzles. The brioche toasts were a tad dried and spongy but well coated with eggs. Delicious still. My other half ordered a Spanish omelette; it was good. We both got a little queasy in the tummy afterward. Considering spotty service and average food, we're not coming back. 2.5 stars.

I've been back a couple of times and overall have had a good experience every time. I wouldn't say that it's as standout of an experience as before, as the staff is just not as engaging and attentive anymore, but the food is still pretty yummy. Just a note, by the time the food was brought out, it was just this side of cool, which was a bummer. We'll still be back but might give it a little time before we're back to try it again.
This is one of my favorite brunch places. Their signature Benedict is perfect! The sauce is great, the thick cut bacon is salty, and eggs are cooked perfectly. I don't know what they put in their country potatoes, but they are awesome as well. I find that the food at this location is better than at the other Toast locations, and come back here all the time.

The food was amazing, I loved everything we ordered! I got a vanilla latte that was amazing. My fiance and I split the house french toast and the Santa Bacon Benedict with the hash brown chips. It was some of the best food I have had in a while. The french toast was fluffy but still flavorful and not too sweet. The Benedict was great, I liked that they didn't put too much hollandaise sauce on it. Absolutely loved the hash brown chips! Totally a 10/10, can't wait to come back!

The staff greets you at the door, and presents an option of indoor or outdoor seating. We started frequenting this lovely cafe early last year after a friend who loves in the area recommended it, and we have returned almost once a week since then. The staff is so friendly and pleasant, and we have yet to have a bad experience. We actually live about 20 minutes away and we make the drive just to eat here. The dining room includes maybe ~11 tables and there are more and larger tables outside under canopies. The food is delicious! Also, I cannot stress enough that this establishment is NOT the same as Toast at the Stonewood Mall (that is "Toast Kitchen and Bar," and is absolutely disappointing and the service is terrible). Portions are big enough to fill you but not so big that you are taking home boxes of food. Eggs cooked how you order every time. Bacon cooked perfectly. French toast, divine. And their coffees and lattes are to die for (try the Mexican Mocha *drools*)! We'll be back!

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Whittier! Met up with my cousin to catch up over breakfast, and Toast was the perfect choice. We got there without the usual long wait, which was a nice surprise! I ordered the Cali Toast with country potatoes and a Rose Latte, and everything was so good. The Cali Toast is one of my go to orders, and the Rose Latte is definitely worth trying if you're in the mood for something a little different. We sat outside, and the patio has such a relaxing vibe, perfect for lingering over coffee and good conversation. I've been coming here for years, and it's one of those places I always find myself coming back to. Great food, friendly service, and consistently a solid breakfast spot. Went to Saturday morning brunch with friends. Plenty of seating was available to us. We were a party of 6 but they let us get seated with only 4 people in our party present, which was nice since it was a little "toasty" outside. The orange juice tasted nice and cold and fresh. Very cute decor, the server was very kind and attentive. The pepper shaker cap fell off and dumped tons of black pepper on my friend's hash brown chips and they did not hesitate to bring out another order! Super kind. My only bummer was the toast on my Bacon Up Toast Breakfast was not... toast. It was very lightly toasted. Could have been WAY more toasted to hold the weight of all of the avocado spread, tomatoes, bacon, and onions that was stacked on top! Definitely needed a sturdy toast base so it was hard to pick up to eat. With the business being named TOAST, I would think they could nail the toast more. Food tasted 10/10 and will definitely be coming back. I will just ask for the toast to be more toasted for the future. read more
There is an ample lot in a shared strip mall. Plenty of parking for breakfast at open on a Sunday. They got fairly busy right at/after open. There is more outdoor seating on the covered patio than indoor seating. Both seating areas are nice. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. Overall, nice local joint for a peaceful weekend or vacation breakfast. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Will be back sometime. read more

Incredibly kind staff, excellent service, and the food was delicious! I am gluten free so I ordered the avocado bacon eggs Benedict on gluten free toast. I haven't been able to find gluten free eggs Benedict anywhere, so this was a treat. Will definitely come back when in the area again! :) read more

We love this breakfast place located in Whittier. Indoor seating is small so request to sit in their spacious outdoor patio. I always order their lavender iced latte, which is always so refreshing and delicious. I ordered the smoked salmon cucumber toast, and it was very flavorful. You can't go wrong with anything you order on the menu, they give such huge portions! Definitely make sure to make a reservation or get added to the yelp waitlist, this place gets packed if you don't go right when it opens. The customer service was also a 10/10. read more

BEST BREAKFAST SPOT IN TOWN hands down. Anything you get here is absolutely fantastic. The service is timely, there's always someone around if you need something additional for the table. I had a Sunday brunch at toast. My party of 3 originally added our names into the waitlist 30 minutes before. When we arrived, a table inside wasn't available and we had to wait another 30 minutes. No bigs! Once we were in, we had a friendly server. I had a perfect avocado with their lemon arugula salad. I still see that mountain of salad when I hear the word arugula. The meal tasted fresh and I'd definitely go have some avo-toast at Toast on First again. The establishment is fairly roomy. They have a tented outdoor area, but it was just too cold that December morning to be seated outside. Inside, is a little snug but not uncomfortably snug. Note: Parking is the wild west up front of Toast because the lot hasn't maintained the parking lines. Be sure to park where you can easily get out from. read more

This is THE best brunch place just north of the OC. I stumbled across this place on Yelp when I arranged brunch with a friend and have gone 2x since then. Their food is so high quality and just filling enough where I don't feel gross after. Their staff is so friendly, and I love that it is dog-friendly. It has such a cute vibe and energy. From the mason jar cups and flower lattes. So great. My absolute favorite thing to order is the Rajas Con Crema. I ordered this out of curiousity and the creaminess is just right. And the flavors of the peppers and cheese blend together with the texture of the bread amazingly. I don't know what they do to this, but it is easily my favorite brunch dish. It's not too heavy but is just filling enough. To some in the OC area, this might be a little out of the way, but please trust me when I say it is worth it. read more

I was really hoping to enjoy the huevos rancheros, but unfortunately, they fell short. If you're used to authentic Mexican huevos rancheros, I wouldn't recommend ordering them here--the sauce tasted like it was ketchup-based, similar to Hunt's sauce. I could only manage a few bites before giving up. On the bright side, my son had the Nutella toast and really enjoyed it, so that was a plus. The customer service was excellent, but unfortunately, the food just didn't hit the mark for me. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more
First time here with a few friends. We were seated outside right away. They have umbrellas to help with shade. Waiter was nice and attentive. The food came out at a decent time, I did have to season my eggs and potatoes with salt, pepper and salsa and they were bland. The drink is like an Arnold Palmer - not too sweet. Very refreshing and looks cute! The omelette had good amount of filling but strangely didn't have egg at the bottom only on top. Don't think I would be returning. Not impressed enough to come back but it was a nice experience. read more

This was my 3rd time here & finally getting to writing a review! Love coming here when I get a chance! Food is always great & service is always nice! All 3 times I have never had to wait long or we've been able to walk right in to be seated! Server did not rush us & even let me & my girlfriends chat it up when we were done! It was not super busy so probably why. lol. We sat on the patio, which was a first but it was decorated so cute & was shaded! I had the Rajas con crema & a caramel latte with oat milk! Sooo tasty! Got some country potatoes as my side & they were perfectly crispy & with the rajas, mmm! All my girlfriends also enjoyed their meal, we left plates empty! read more

Stopped in Sunday morning around 9:30am for breakfast. Think we beat the morning rush as we were able to be seated right away. Our waiter was very courteous and attentive. He took our drink order right away and allowed us time to glance over the menu before checking back in with us. We picked the Eggs Benedict and French Toast. Both were delicious options. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. I ordered an cappuccino which was just okay. I'd say the food and service was definitely the start here. read more

The restaurant was nice, clean, and modern looking. It's a small restaurant with limited seating. The server was nice and we were seated quick. There was plenty of parking but that could also be because we came on a Monday. I got the Bacon Up toast with country potatoes. My friend got The Perfect Avocado toast with arugula lemon salad. The bacon on the toast was perfectly crispy and balanced the creamy texture of the avocado. My boyfriend got the Simple Breakfast. All the dishes were very good but nothing that blew our minds. read more
I tried Toast at Toast on a Sunday afternoon ! My little fam and I came by a little too close to closing time (3pm- sorry!) and were met with kind staff and a clean interior. There is indoor and outdoor seating available and the outdoor area is doggy friendly. Also baby friendly - high chairs available and kiddy menu. I ordered a multigrain tomato and avocado toast with a side lemon arugula salad. Both so tasty. Can't go wrong with tomato and olive oil + avocado. My fiancé had eggs benedict with salmon, also delicious. Although we were the last guests there, we had efficient and courteous service. We really appreciated this as we were dealing with an angry lil baby, empty stomachs and a time crunch. In and out under 30. Thanks so much! read more

Not yet the new restrictions through a wrench in our plans. It’s very difficult to reopen with everything changing so much. We will be relaunching with just take out.

the only vegan options consist of toast and fruit. You should visit their second location "the benediction by toast" in city of industry. They have vegan pancakes, french toast, toast, and the cremini mushroom benedict (with no egg)

I normally call them. However, if you are planning to go for Sunday brunch, your seat won't be ready right away.
