Came out with the family to celebrate my father's good news. First impression as it was our first time here was the staff was pretty friendly and it looked clean. I ordered the New York steak medium well with rice pilaf and a salad with ranch. My food also came with corn and 2 onion rings. I received my steak and it was medium rare, I decided to just eat it. The steak was okay, the rice was disgusting, it was not rice pilaf at all. It was some sort of orange rice that was lacking flavor and tasted rubbery. The corn was your basic corn no flavor. The onion rings were just okay. The salad was extremely watered down, you couldn't even taste the ranch as it was drowned in water. The only thing I liked from this place was the banana shake and the service. I do not see us returning to this place as we were very let down.

Parking kinda limited. Bathroom very clean. Place very clean staff very friendly. They have limited drinks beer and wine. Plenty of items to order. Love you can have breakfast anytime. Had the dinner special which was the top sirloin, green beans, baked potato, cheese bread. Had the vegetable beef soup wow loved this whole meal. Add strawberry cheesecake ice cream it was awesome. This place gets five stars. It's worth checking out when you're with your in Whittier.

This restaurant has been around for 33 years. It's historical in Whittier, Ca. They make homemade traditional food from scratch. I ordered the chicken and waffle breakfast for my first time with egg whites and it was good. The pancakes were soft and fluffy with good flavor. The chicken was moist and crunchy and the eggs were good. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere gives you a 1950's style with cool artifacts. I will be a returning customer. Note: They have daily specials and they are open 6am till 1030pm. Prices are very economical and you get huge quantities of food.

It has been some time being away from Jack's Restaurant and was able to make some yesterday around 12:30pm. Its always busy but especially on a Sunday had to wait about 30 minutes. Got a booth and again they provide great food. I ordered the wonderful Blueberry Pancakes which are always good but this particular batch was amazing with plenty of blueberries baked inside the pancakes. Great service and food makes for a great combination.

Country Fried steak. I definitely recommend.

The dish didn't quite meet my expectations. The flavors felt a bit unbalanced. It was prepared well, but it lacked depth. The execution was solid, though the taste was underwhelming. The service was quite slow and felt a bit unorganized. It wasn't very clear where customers were supposed to sit, which made the experience somewhat confusing. After being seated, it also took a while before my order was taken. The space feels somewhat dated, and a more streamlined décor could really enhance the overall atmosphere.

I've decided to take up visiting diners once a week on Saturdays on my mini moto and Jack's Whittier was the first one on my list! Hopefully not the last as I look to continue my own little Saturday tradition. Anyway, I'm a sucker for old architecture from the older days. The buildings, the decor, the vibe - it all has so much more character compared to what we have today. That's what drew me here to begin with. More importantly, the food was good. I ordered a Denver omelette and thankfully I was able to substitute some items for a few slices of tomatoes and iceberg lettuce (doing a low-carb thing right now). The omelette was cooked just right. Not rubbery, not dry, and not under. Not going to lie though, I wish I wasn't on a diet because I absolutely love greasy diner food and I'm certain they would have not disappointed. Service was really friendly and the food came out quick! I got the best seat in house too since I wanted to dine at the countertop. I got a nice little backdrop for my photos too. Hoping to come back in the near future NOT on a diet to experience deliciousness.

First time here and looks like a good place and cozy but the staff and I believe a male who could be manger have really bad attitude slammed our drinks and threw our straws at us. I wouldn't want to call this or take it out of context but makes you feel awkward due to our skin color. We are Mexican Americans. Not a good feeling to have while you trying to eat breakfast!

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

There is more outdoor seating on the covered patio than indoor seating. Both seating areas are nice. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. Overall, nice local joint for a peaceful weekend or vacation breakfast. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Will be back sometime.

Their moles are definitely worth trying. We've had the mole negro and the mole pipián, and both were delicious. The mole negro is a little sweeter, while the pipián has more spice. They also serve tortilla chips with mole, which is something I haven't seen at most Mexican restaurants. The reason I can't give 5 stars is because the service has been hit or miss. We've been here three times. The first time was shortly after they opened. The food tasted decent but came out cold, and the service wasn't the best. It was during the week and not very busy, so we figured they were still working out the kinks of being a new restaurant. After some time, we decided to give them another try. We went on a busy Friday night and were seated right away. The service was much better and everything seemed to be running more smoothly. We talked with the owner who was working as well as his wife who was bartending. They were both really friendly, and the owner seemed genuinely happy that we came back after we told him about our first experience. He even gave my husband a free beer after we moved to the bar to keep drinking after we finished our meals to allow for other guests to dine at the table we were. There was also a trio playing that night which added to the ambiance and was a nice way to end the work week. Our most recent visit was a couple of weeks ago for my husband's birthday. It was during the week and once again they were short-staffed. There was only one waitress taking care of the entire restaurant. She was so sweet and hustling the whole time but she was also bartending while serving every table. We definitely had to pack our patience because she was doing the best she could. Overall, Sol 626 has so much potential to be a great spot. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are what keep bringing us back. They need a little more staffing so the service can be as good as everything else.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.
