The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. It's a casual, upbeat, bright breakfast/brunch spot. And yes, on busy days things happen but to not offer a reason, or apology, and giving the customer attitude is unacceptable. Food: The description of the food is well written. The prices are reasonable. I ordered the short rib omelette with whole grain toast and house potatoes. When I Finally received my food it looked great and I was eager to dig in. A first bite of the omelette I was sadly underwhelmed. The seasoning left much to be desired and it seamed to be more of a birria short rib flavor and I thought I chose the dish based on being excited about the combination of meat and cheese (which was barely there). My husband ordered me the lemon ricotta pancakes this morning, which I've had from this restaurant before, so I know exactly how they're supposed to taste. The moment I took my first bite, I immediately noticed that the ricotta tasted sour and spoiled. I drove back to the restaurant to request a refund. Unfortunately, my refund was not honored because the manager, Aimee, was not present. Karely, the lead on duty, seemed unsure of how to handle the situation and attempted to explain that the sour taste was simply the lemon in the ricotta. That explanation was disappointing because there is a clear difference between the intended lemon flavor and the taste of spoiled dairy. What upset me most was the lack of concern, apology, or effort to make the situation right. As a customer, I expected the issue to be taken seriously, especially when food safety is involved. If a manager is unavailable, staff should be properly trained and empowered to handle customer concerns appropriately. I am currently four months pregnant, which made this experience even more concerning. I wasted my time, gas, and energy driving back to the restaurant, only to leave without a refund or any resolution. When you walk up to the restaurant, there will be a host waiting for you. They will ask you whether you prefer to sit outside or inside. They will give you a card and ask you to choose a table. Once they give you the card, you go up to the cashier and place your order. They will give you a number card to place on your table. Tip is not required, but the screen will pop up at time of payment whether you would like to leave a tip or not. I ordered their steak and eggs with hashbrowns and sourdough toast ($30), and fresh squeezed orange juice ($6). I think it was a little too pricy for what I ordered. We chose to sit outside because it was a gorgeous day and it was sunny. There was a glass bottle of water for us and silverware. While we dined, we didn't really see anyone that came to check on us. At the end, when we were finished with our meals, we needed some containers. Like I said, there wasn't anyone to ask for anything, but there was a station that had some containers already set up for self service. Their fresh squeezed (machine like Jamba's) orange juice was a little on the tart side, but it was fresh. When our order came, the food plating and presentations were beautiful and very colorful. I really enjoyed their hashbrowns because it wasn't your typical thinly chopped potatoes. They were thick and it was golden brown. The steak was cooked to my liking, medium rare. I wanted more butter for my toast, but couldn't get anyone to come over and assist me. They have two gender neutral bathrooms. The restroom smelled very citrusy and was very clean. Each time we looked over at the entrance, there was a long line to dine in or place an order to go. After we finished, we also ordered some food to takeout for our families. We had to go back in line and place our order. The only difference is that they ask for your phone number and will text you when your order is ready for pickup. I hate that YELP doesn't notify me in some way when I've been to an establishment. I was in the area and used my YELP to find spots nearby. This one came up as closest and had good reviews. When I pulled up, I realized I had been here before a few years ago. Had I remembered how pricey it was would've went somewhere else. The reviews must be a reflection of this place being a local spot (repeat customers). For me, I'm not willing to pay minimum $16-$17 for a very basic and bland breakfast . If Norm's was near I'd have been all over it. The staff is really friendly, the spot is spacious enough to where you won't feel overcrowded even though it is a small spot inside of a shopping center. I do not like that you order when you walk in , and then you go see yourself. If I'm gonna sit down to have breakfast, I want to be able to have a seat have a beverage look over a menu. It's also a little unsettling dining there. Although there is a sign outside of the restaurant that says bees are pollinating, the restaurant is a little warm inside and so they keep the door wide open. So that means that not only are "bees" coming into dine with you, but also fly and very large ones. Sidenote, when I was sitting there both times I visited the spot. I didn't see bees inside. All I saw was flies. I'm giving grace because they put a "bee" sign outside. These insects are flying all over the freshly squeezed orange juices that you can see the staff making in batches. They are squeezing the juices, setting out all the cups with no lids and filling a bunch of cups at once. Then they put the lids on them and then put them in the refrigerator. So you may enjoy a cup of orange juice with a side of fly or bee. I don't know for me. It's to turn off. I don't want anything flying and swarming around my food. The food is ok. Our order came out so fast. It was almost unreal. And although the waitress was warning me that my plate was hot. The food was extremely cold. There was no flavor. Whatever ingredients are in your meal that's exactly what you're gonna taste. There's not like this explosion from the collision of ingredients. You will find yourself doubting your food and salt, pepper, hot sauce, and ketchup, which are the condiments they keep on the table. I ordered a bottomless iced tea which was $4. It has been a while almost since before Covid, since we last went to Poached and I would say it's still delivering in both taste and quality. My daughter and I went for brunch on a Saturday. I was surprised by how packed it was, which just shows how much people love the food and ambiance here. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area has a mix of booths and regular tables with chairs. Initially, I was worried that with so many people and a line waiting to be seated the wait might be 30 to 45 minutes. However, the line moved quickly and it didn't even take more than 15 minutes before we could order. One convenient thing was that we could view the menu while waiting in line by scanning a QR code and be ready to order by the time we reached the counter. I ordered the Chilaquiles Verde, while my daughter chose the House Benedict. We also wanted to try the Tres Leches Waffle, which was listed on the scanned menu but we were told it was a seasonal item and unavailable at the time. We asked for a recommendation between the Gingerbread Waffles and the Bananas Foster Pancakes. The person taking our order recommended the Gingerbread Waffles unless we wanted something very sweet, as the Bananas Foster Pancakes were on the sweeter side. We also ordered a Peppermint Hot Chocolate for my daughter and a Matcha Latte for myself. At the entrance they have a color coded card system which I believe is for table selection. Before handing us a white card they asked if we preferred indoor or outdoor seating. I chose indoor seating and they told us to sit at any small table with two chairs. The cashier collected our card when we placed our order and confirmed our seating choice. We received our drink in few minutes and food followed after. We enjoyed our hot drinks. The Chilaquiles were good, with fresh avocado, pickled onions, radish and a side of black beans though I wish there had been a bit more meat. The House Benedict was delicious, especially the poached eggs. Among our savory entrees, the Gingerbread Waffles stood out as the star of the meal. Overall, we were satisfied with both the service and the food. Few things I feel could be improved: - Ordering at the counter can feel a bit intimidating when you know people are waiting in line behind you and the cashier is also waiting on you to decide quickly. - Tip is asked upfront when paying for the order. - The small table for two felt a bit cramped. With three plates, two hot drinks and water cups it was difficult to move things around, especially since me and my daughter wanted to share our food. Our plates were even extending past the edges of the table. Positive: - The food is good with generous portions. - Even though the line was long it moved quickly. - You can view the menu while waiting in line. - Both indoor and outdoor seating options are available. Came in on a Wednesday last week after much anticipation to visit. There was a line about 1130am when we arrived. Waited outside in line for about 5minutes. Hostess gave us our table number and we proceeded inside to order. Once at the cashier she was quick to answer any plate questions we had, which was a plus. Chose a table to sit at only to be in immediate discomfort because the leg of the small table was missing a leg cap. The table was rocky. During our whole meal I was uncomfortable because I was holding it in place with my leg. Food came out rather quickly and so did the drinks. My cappuccino was amazing! The flavor of the food compensated for the discomfort of the table! Wow! The hotcakes with light and airy. Not heavy at all. The syrup was just perfect! The black bean side was alittle sketch but they were great also. The chilaquile sauce was thick! Something alittle different than what we are used to be the flavor was all there. The short rib was super flavorful. Almost like a shredded beef going on but she was saucy. The skirt steak was super tender. The added protein prices caught me a little off guard but it is what it is. The food was great. 4 stars for the table inconvenience as someone put a folded paper napkin to help hold it still. Didn't help. I will be back with a booth reservation and an empty stomach. Ample parking. Fills up quick. Arrive early!! read more
