Came here today for a decaf iced vanilla latte with soy milk. I was surprised by how good it was! It was a bit sweet but overall the coffee taste still came through and it was delicious. They use fair trade coffee which is really cool. The service was good, everyone was polite. They had pastries that looked good, but I didn't try any. My large latte was $7, which is average these days. I'll be back! read more

My husband and I ordered the sausage, cheddar cheese and egg on a croissant, which was super tasty! I ordered the vanilla latte and my husband ordered a white chocolate mocha. Both drinks were great. Not sugary at all! The woman taking our order was very nice. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. We sat outside and enjoyed our breakfast. read more

Great variety on the menu and the coffee is delicious! I've ordered the hazelnut macchiato and the white thunder latte. Prices are extremely reasonable and staff is great as well. Cozy coffe shop vibes. There may be long wait times during busier weekends so be aware but definitely zero complaints! I'm now getting my Monday morning coffees here! read more

Wanted Porto's for breakfast the other day but it was packed! So I walked around and stumbled across this cafe spot. When I got inside, there was only one person in front of me ordering. There were, however, a few people sitting inside and outside as well. I got an iced caramel macchiato and an iced white thunder coffee. The iced caramel macchiato had already been mixed which is fine but that's basically a latte at that point. The iced white thunder was also pretty good. I also got the chicken chipotle deluxe and it was amazing!!!! I got full with just one half! The wait for my order to come out was just about 25 minutes but I didn't notice because my boyfriend was with me and we were chatting about the movie theater across the street. I would recommend ordering online because if you order in person, it gets pretty packed inside. So if you're not a fan of small crowded places, keep that in mind. read more

Great local spot for a morning coffee. I came here with my friend for a morning meet up and we enjoyed the quaint atmosphere. It is a great spot to slow down, connect with friends, and relax. They were also playing great music as well, which made the space even more enjoyable. I also tried a piece of coffee cake bread warmed up and it was delicious. I just recently discovered this hidden gem! It's right in front of the Downey theater. The coffee HITS!! My go to is always a vanilla iced oat latte and that color on the coffee and flavor is just right every time ! I love their croissant protein egg sandwich it's so good! I prefer spending my money at a mom and pop business versus going to Porto's that's right next door. My total was 16 for a good sized sandwich and a 160z coffee pretty good to me ! read more

Surprisingly tasty! I tried the Chicken Breast Deluxe sandwich with chipotle sauce. And omg was it YUMMY! What a good sandwich! All the ingredients tasted fresh, the ratios were all correct, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. AND THAT CHIPOTLE SAUCE! Super delicious. A SOLID SANDWICH. Would totally recommend! My husband had the white thunder. He thought it was pretty good, but just a tad bit sweet. I'd totally come back for that sandwich! And my husband would come back for coffee :) read more

I was excited to try this place because I heard they had really good iced coffee. When I arrived I stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes waiting and the workers could clearly see me. I went to the pickup window to ask if I needed to order online or something since no one was at the front counter then she suddenly was able to help me. This ruined the experience for me. The reason I gave this place a 3 is for their customer service, the employees there have the WORST attitude. Me and my husband went in today, ordered 2 paninis and I ordered the 3rd street mocha we went to sit outside and when my husband came out with our order I realized the drink he was given didn't look like the one on the poster so I went in a double checked with the lady making the drinks and she let me know that the drink I had was the white thunder which is not what I ordered. I let her know she went and checked the receipt and told me that is what the receipt said and I told her I didn't order that, I asked for the 3rd street mocha and I know I did because I went based off of the poster that was on the wall and from the 3 drinks shown the white thunder was not an option so he goes an tells the owner who seemed to get upset, she pretty much told me that the drink was already made and it was too bad. So after a couple of minutes of back and forth the lady who I originally talked suggested she just made the drink which the owner eventually agreed too and told the employee to set the drink aside in case someone were to order it so my apologies if someone received a watered down white thunder so the food is delicious, the shop is small but there is sitting indoor and outdoor but if you're not one to deal with rude employees and bad attitudes I suggest you try elsewhere, i'm not sure if i'll return here, the attitude isn't worth it read more

Stumbled upon this great cafe while walking in Downey. I usually visit the popular Porto's nearby but I wanted to try something new and this place looked like a cozy and perfect place. What drew me in was the nice signage out front with some menu items and the customers chilling in the outside seating area sipping their coffees.I love a cute but organized coffee shop with good food and drinks. I ordered a bacon avocado turkey croissant a Matcha latte iced. My sandwich was sooo good, just the way I like it. Favorite matcha drink thus far! We were on our way to Porto's but the line was long! I figured there would be a coffee shop close by and sure enough we stumbled upon this place based on the reviews. It was literally down the street, I ordered a hazelnut macchiato and we ordered a tiramisu and brownie to bring home. There was a bit of a line and it was busy so that was good for them. The place was small and clean, the customer service could have been a little bit more attentive but I get it they were busy. The coffee was good and so were the desserts. I love this place! I get the chicken panini deluxe and a vanilla latte, they're both great. The sandwich is very filling and flavorful. The latte has a true vanilla coffee flavor that is perfectly sweetened. The ambiance inside is truly like a cozy local coffee shop. This one is one of the best without trying too hard with the Instagram aesthetic vibes like other ones you see in the city, and they get the title of best from delivering such good coffee. The only complaint I would have is that the service is a bit slow, but I don't mind it too much, since the product is just that good. Just don't come here if you're in a rush. read more

I went to study and was there for a few hours (I purchased something, of course), then the owner comes and in a scolding manner asked if I parked there, that I needed to move my car, and asked how long I was there (demanded, rather). He said they only had two tables (actually they're was only one other person at this time, so plenty of space). He seemed to be insinuating something so I asked him to be clear on what he wanted. He said he wanted me to leave very rudely. I didn't cause a scene, I just left. Very rude. I chose to go there instead of Porto's because it is smaller and cozier and I knew someone years ago who would go there to study. Maybe this place had different management then. I regret giving them my business. Not coming back. read more

I been here three times. First two times was only for matcha and chai drinks during the week. I drove an hour and a half from work, it was so worth it. I got there 5 minutes before closing time and the girl was nice to make me and my daughter our drinks.... Yesterday I went in the morning and was able to try one of their breakfast sandwiches, it was so delicious. I will be returning every Saturday morning to have breakfast with my daughter here it is worth the drive. The staff are so nice and the cafe is so cute and the vibe is so nice. Service is terrible here. My friends and I came in to order a sandwich, but one employee refused service because her ex-boyfriend was in the building and yelled at him to leave, which felt very inappropriate. When we tried to order, both employees had an attitude and made it difficult, even telling us we couldn't order because it was past 5 when it clearly wasn't. We offered to order for him when he had stepped out, but they gave us a hard time about that too. When I asked for a manager, the employee (I believe her name is Athena) walked away and laughed, which was extremely disrespectful. Customers shouldn't be caught in the middle of personal situations or treated this way when simply trying to order food. Overall, it was a very unprofessional and uncomfortable experience. read more

This place is a hidden gem!!!! My husband and I went for the first time and we ordered the chicken breast deluxe panini, an egg and cheese everything bagel and a caramel latte blended and it was AMAZING!!! The owner took our order and she gave my 2 boys little shortcakes treats. I have known about this place for a while but just never went inside but I won't be able to pass by it anymore without having to stop inside. A couple of the ladies ordered green chilaquiles, the friend we were celebrating ordered the Spanish Omelet, another woman I'd met that day had the bacon and eggs, another one ordered the Biscuits and grave with a side of bacon that looked perfectly crispy. I wish I had taken pictures of the plates as it all looked so lovely! I didn't even take a picture of my own food haha. I had my eyes on an omelet, one of the Benedicts or the Chicken n Waffle. In the end, the chicken and waffle won. It comes served with a little container of maple syrup with bacon pieces. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffle was delicious, though I did request for some extra syrup on the side. To drink, a few ladies ordered mimosas, one ordered an iced caramel coffee, and I ordered the Carajillo. I fell in love with this drink last summer in Mexico and do not often see it on the menu. I love the subtle citrus notes the Licor 43 adds to this espresso drink. It is very similar to an espresso martini, and theirs comes topped with a toasted marshmallow. I honestly wanted to try almost every item in their Tipsy Barista section of their drinks. I'll just have to come back that many more times :) Plenty of parking in the mall lot. It does get pretty packed during peak hours. Fortunately I had called ahead to put our group of 6 down. We went in on Saturday around 11:30. It slowed down a bit while we were eating, but started to get busy again after 1. Otherwise, we might have been forced to honor their 90-minute rule. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. My daughter ordered the tuna tower which was a tiny serving of supposedly fresh tuna which I highly doubt since she ended getting really sick from it. She has been throwing up since last night and had to call off work this morning. I work in the sport fishing industry and we eat tons of fresh caught tuna, not once have we've been sick from any fish that is properly handled. So beware of any raw fish from this place. It's either not handled properly or it's not fresh. My wife called this morning to speak to a manager and bring the bad fish to their attention but Gaby the hostess mentioned that there was no manager available to take her call. This establishment is, by no means, a hidden gem. Yes the muffins are good, the croissants as well (even though its super small), and the iced coffees to, but the thing that I don't understand, are the prices! I'm not one of those douchebags that love chains like starbucks or coffee bean (unless the person making my drink does it well), but when you compare things like the croissants and sizes (of the drinks), the chains do have the upper hand. This place is by no means, a bad place, but if your looking to be charged way to much tea, then by all means come here. I'm all for bringing back business to main street, and stripping corporations of there monopolies and what not, but hey, I'm an American on a budget, and Main Street (figure of speech, its actually on 3rd Street) is just too darn expensive for me, so I guess the chains win out again. Good customer service, the older asian couple who own it are really nice to me and my little family, and there always nice (theother workers). Don't go on Friday or Saturday nights because it'll be full of idiot teenagers and BAD PARENTS who are pushing along a stroller with a two month old, who just came out of the theater! Needless to say, avoid teenager nights and the nights when the cholo and gangbanger people come up from they're sh.t hole cities around Downey. I used to come here every once in a while during my lunch break since I work nearby, but I always felt like the manager had a really negative attitude. You can kind of tell the employees feel uncomfortable around her, and I've even come in during the afternoons before and overheard employees talking badly about her, which says a lot about the work environment. Today really crossed the line though. I walked in and asked for the restroom code, and she told me I had to buy something first. I said I would, but that I really needed to go. She let me use it, but the restroom was honestly disgusting--like a gas station restroom. It was dirty and clearly not being maintained. I used it as quickly as I could and let her know there was a mess so someone could take care of it. Instead, she went to check and then blamed me for it. She said I made the mess, told me I was banned from the store, and even said I had to clean it. I was honestly shocked and just left. I would not recommend this place. The service is uncomfortable, and even the coffee is inconsistent. read more

I'm a regular here and am surprised at how far the lengths people like Paige go to in order to entertain themselves. The bathroom has never looked like her picture and the owners constantly check the bathrooms every hour or so to make sure it's clean. This cafe is an intimate establishment and the owners here are kind and show up to work every day. All of the workers here are very friendly and attentive when asked about their personal recommendations. The food is made to order and albeit it does take some time to get it during rushes. But I'll happily wait! The chipotle chicken panini and turkey provolone are my absolute favorites. I also love the Chai from here, it is so creamy and the horchata latte with espresso is a must try for my fellow sweet coffee lovers! read more

This place used to be a cool place to hang out. But now the owner has something against me and a friend because we sit here for two hours, but we are constantly buying things, and using the wifi. I dont care much for this place anymore. I even go to their other establishment across the street which their son used to run until he left for college. He enjoyed having my friend and i there. He knew how to run a business and keep his customers happy. He will be back in four months to take over his business again and i cant wait. Think twice before sitting in here with a laptop and drinking coffee because in Joe's words, "i dont care if you buy anything, i dont want you here very long." read more

Always fantastic service, awesome food and expert. However, via no fault of the owners, a person turned into sitting interior the shop playing his espresso, talking on the smartphone, without a mask on. He may want to have sat outside however did not. The owner saw him, stopped and starred, however said nothing. The proprietor should be the only to tell him to thrill sit down outside as a masks is required internal and there are signs each in which that country that. read more

This coffee shop is a great spot to relax and enjoy quality food and drinks. The sandwiches are very good, there's a wide variety of desserts, and the drinks are consistently high quality and taste excellent. The place is clean, including the bathroom, which I really appreciate. There's almost always a seat available, and it's not overcrowded with students hogging tables. 3rd Street is my brunch place in Downtown Downey area. Small area but neat and friendly atmosphere. Their coffees, teas and sandwiches are good all the time. I had a hearty breakfast croissant with iced hazelnut macchiato in almond milk. Nice and warm service. read more
