I didn't order any cuts of meat, but they looked to be reasonably priced and quality. They had some TVs going on playing the playoff games, with some families inside enjoying their sunday afternoon. Seems like a quaint location to just have a pleasant meal. Ordered take out, and got the Prime Rib Sandwich, Small Order of Steak Fries, and Mac Salad. The Prime RIb Sandwich offered an okay amount of meat, but it was fatty and flavorful. The Mild BBQ sauce paired fairly well with the sandwich. Star of the meal is the steak fries. Had my last visit today. Been here many times before and had amazing steak sandwiches. Taken many friends/family to have the steak sandwich. Always was amazing, tender, delicious. Today I took my sister to introduce her to the best steak sandwich around. She started eating before me and said it was not that good. I'm looking at her like she's crazy as I put mayo and mustard on my Sammy. I take the first bite and notice this is NOT the flavor that I had before. Added a little salt and pepper thinking that will help. NOPE! Each bite was tough and loaded with gristle or inedible fat or something that I couldn't separate with my teeth. I'm pulling pieces apart and having to eat around the tough meat. I took the sandwich up to the register and asked them if they changed the cut of meat they use. They said no, it's always been either rib eye or NY. Every single one of the many I'd had before were the same. This one was different. Even looked different, as if it had been run through a machine in an attempt to tenderize it. Didn't work! You could see through some parts kind of like the way a knitted scarf would look If you stretched it out and could see the holes in it. Anyway, the guy said, "You must have got a tough cut" or "bad cut". I can't remember exactly the wording. But then he just shrugged me off. No offer to fix the problem. I was hungry, I hadn't had breakfast, and it was obvious the guy didnt care, so I just went back to my table and ate the rest of the bread and fixings while gnawing off any edible meat from my horrible steak. $26 for a sandwich and fries. This review is for the butcher side. There is a guy that typically mans this counter and the first time I walked in, I was a little intimidated by the selection and had some questions. Immediately did NOT feel comfortable asking any questions, in fact, the mere presence of me at the counter was bothering him, interrupting him maybe. Terrible feeling. Gave them another chance a few months later, same guy, same apparent general dislike of customers, not cool as your support comes from customers like myself looking to spend $$ on a few cuts of fresh meat to feed their family. I am a little picky about it being too watery and he had mentioned he would do his best to make it less watery. When I tell you my sandwich was so fire! huge slices of celery! It had red onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. I got it on wheat but the have other breads as well. He was so awesome and I appreciate him doing his best to accommodate me. I also got a Lasorada Cab which I am so excited to taste I will definitely be back! They have so much food to choose from, exclusive Candies, alcohol, bbq seasonings, and tons of cool bottled drinks. Came here to check it out. Place is nice and open.. Meat market serves Harris Ranch meats on the left, and counter to order food straight ahead. I got the cheese burger and small order of onion rings.. $14 dollars later, and get like 5 rings and a small smashed bun burger. You can tell it was homemade rings, so they were good, but a little more would of been good. The burger was small, but what saved it was the quality of the meat and size. Great bacon and meat kabobs. It was my first time at this location. The butcher suggested that I order a sandwich. That sounded good, so I went to the side and found the sizable menu and finally decided on the classic Italian. I was all ready to order when the guy behind the register said that he didn't have the meat cut up for the Italian. I didn't understand why he could not cut it up and make it for me. The potato salad looked good and so did a bag of chips. I was really disappointed because at that point I wanted a sandwich. I can't say for sure if the meat itself is ground tri tip, but if it is, I do feel like the quality of the tri tip goes down when it's ground. The small portion was around $10, although pricing isn't too bad, I do believe the price can be less considering there's no actual pieces of meat in it My review has potential to increase if their other food is good, but it's hard to say. Another chance I went in last night ordered the sampler and barbecue plate and the ribs came out undercooked and now I feel like I'm sick to my stomach the next day I can't even eat breakfast. I'm very angry about it because I've brought this to their attention before about their foods not being cooked well or it's overcooked and the one particular guy working in the back who claimed to be the manager always has a bad attitude and I'm upset about it because of the outcome of that interaction. I had these complaints years back if he they would've even just listened I don't think my food would've came undercooked last night and he tried to replace it with an overcooked rib, which tasted rubbery dry, like most other people have said on the reviews And failed acknowledge my concerns so I switched it out for the tri-tip even though I particularly wanted ribs and after the third try, the tri-tip he brings out was also undercooked compared to the tri-tip that was originally served with the barbecue plate read more

We came to Whittier several times a month to service local oil wells. One of my coworkers told me about this place and I have been here a few times. The pulled pork sandwich is what I usually have. We have also had the tri tip sandwiches, but IMHO they are stingy with the beef on tri tip sandwiches. But they taste ok though. If I lived in the area I would come to this BBQ place/butcher shop more often and try other items for sure. The staff is friendly and helpful, service is decent. Ambiance?
