A sandwich sounded really good for lunch and this spot was it, it was packed and I understand why. Beware of street parking, we did have to circle around the block twice on a Friday afternoon but it was worth it. Pastrami Reuben -ratio of pastrami to sauerkraut was perfection. Pickled onions tied everything together, soo good! Only down side to my sandwich was the pastrami was pretty fibrous/stringy but it was only a couple of pieces which didn't upset me too much. Tom's Way -pretty wet sandwich but everything paired well. Flavorful and filling but doesn't leave you feeling heavy. Spicy Gabagool -the sauce they use is chef's kiss. Not so much spicy but more of a season spiced. Really wanted to try their Lemon Crumb Bars but the girl ahead of me grabbed the last one. Just an excuse to come back for more sandwiches hahhaha. Opted for a Pecan Pie Bar instead; a bit more elevated than a regular pecan bar, crispy pecan added just the right amount of texture. Loved the caramel flavor but slightly too sweet for my liking.
Finally I came to Uptown Provisons!! Tiny hole in the wall sandwich spot. Parking may be a problem, I came on a Sunday, so we parked at the Bank of America parking lot and strolled on over. The line gets long but moves very quickly. Drinks are in a a fridge to your right with different sodas you can choose from while you wait to order. Theres also a little market in there. We decided to eat on the tables outside on the sidewalk and people watch. We did notice lots of either phone or online orders. People came and parked right on the street, put the emergency lights on and went right in and out with their bag of sandwiches. The Gabagool was the best from the sandwiches we ordered, then came the popular Egg Salad sandwich, finally my Meatball sandwich. This one is huge!! I ate 1/3 of this massive deliciousness and saved the rest for my hubby. Coffee lovers: There is cute coffee shop next door for dessert ;) They close early, at 1400! So you better show up on time for that sandwich! Thank you for reading!
We've been having coworker lunch gatherings and I was able to try this turkey sandwich! Since I knew it was going to be a day old before I was able to eat this sandwich I picked a safe choice. Now I'm hooked! I tried their turkey sandwich with avocado and it was yummy. The bread was amazing I can't imagine when it's fresh! This is a loaded sandwich. I only finished half and the second half for later. The packaging is also so adorable! I definitely wanna come back to try their other sandwiches fresh! They're also known for their egg sandos??! I must try it all!
.., meet Whittier's Uptown hero! My experience here was from 6/26/26 & it did not disappoint. Though I've been to Uptown Provisions twice before to support my friend Andrew M, as well as my other friend Andrew P. with Satori Coffee Project, this was my actual visit where I finally ate! Third times the charm! Tucked nicely into a Penn St. neighborhood, Uptown Provisions can easily be spotted by the loyal patrons waiting/dining outside. May the street parking gods be kind to you as they always provide me with a spot nearby. Knowing what I already wanted from doing my menu homework the night prior, I was practically drooling on my way in. Greeted by a great staff & friendly fellow patrons, I felt right at home. I went with the "Tom's Way" sandwich. Dedicated to one of their favorite customers, it's a crossover between an egg sandwich & a pastrami. It was perfect! Chef Aaron describes his sandos as the perfect West Coast sandwich, & that I can totally agree with. Tom's Way provided me with a robust sandwich blend that never knew I needed until now. Each component's flavor profile blended together nicely. I'm usually hit or miss with rye bread, but this rye hit the mark & held the ship together. The eggs were made with care & prepared in a way I've never tasted before, very delicious. Pastrami was tender, pickled onions provided the bitter tangy component while the broccoli slaw became the soothing blanket that nestled every flavor together. I absolutely loved my sandwich. They post a 20 minute wait time but I got mine in 15. Great things come to those who wait. They do not have a public bathroom so plan your visit accordingly. They have a few counter seats inside with plenty more outdoor seating in front with friendly locals chatting it up. Don't be shy with the napkins. finally tried this place on the way down to OC! spicy garbagool left me longing for sure! egg sandwich was kinda mid tbh but also expected it - prolly should have tried the toms way version! prime rib and brisket was good also but not as good as left over. i would def come back and try other sandwiches thoooo!
I'm not a sandwich person, but Uptown Provisions sandwiches are life changing! The Prime Rib and BBQ Brisket sandwich are amazing. The staff here are wonderful.
Let's just say I dream about this sandwhich place at least 1x a week, specifically the Spicy Gabagool! It's packed with so much juicy flavor from the cheese, pickled onion, and pepperoncin. It has the perfect kick (spice) to it, each bite you take is so mouthwatering! It goes perfectly paired with a bag of chips which they offer a good variety of. I like that they also offer a large variety of drinks, they carry Olipop sodas which are one of my favs. This place does get busy but none the less their service is expeditious! Parking can get a little tricky on a busy day but the times I've gone I've always seemed to be lucky enough to find parking right away (: I really enjoy that while you wait for your food there is this cute cafe right next door to the right where you can order yourself a pastry, latte or matcha(:
We were very impressed with Uptown provisions. Ordering was simple and easy. We were overwhelmed walking in on a sunday with the amount of people waiting, mostly for to go orders. They had a board with an estimated wait time which was really helpful! Everyone was Running like a well oiled machine. We ordered some of the recommendations we saw on yelp and instagram. The prime rib brisket sandwich and the spicy gabagool. Both were delicious layered eith ingredients and made with care. The brisket was a bit onnthe dry side which was a bit disappointing but still very flavorful considering. The gabagool was my favorite. It was the right amount of heat, crunch and juiciness. We got a few sodas and tried the bacon grease potato chips. The chips were not worth the 8.50 but worth a try. They have a pretty good amount of seating on the sidewalk alwith umbrellas along with a few spots to sit inside. They called your number when your order was ready which was nice so you could sit outside and relax while you waited.
I love a good sandwich and the ones at Uptown Provisions are absolute fire. We ordered two: -egg salad ($16): egg salad with Japanese mayo, sambal chili aioli, tomato, avocado, pickled red onion, pepperoncinis, everything bagel seasoning, served on thick toasted brioche bun -turkey blt special I've never had a dressed up egg salad sandwich before, and to be honest, I don't think I'll never not want tomato, avocado and lettuce with my egg salad again - it kept the sandwich tasting fresh. The sambal chili aioli was a sleeper - it packed in a ton of unexpected spice. Deliciously unexpected. The thick toasted brioche bun also added a layer of sweetness. We ordered the turkey BLT because it was a special. It was, of course, delish, but I should have kept to the tried and trues. I'll definitely be back. Also PSA and order your sandwiches for pickup. We waited for quite a bit in the heat even though we visited at an off hour (on a Sunday). Also, there's a nearby park closer to Uptown you can enjoy your sandwiches.
Neighborhood deli. The Italian-ish sandwich was off the hook. Delicious. Quick, deliberate, warm service. Plenty of choices and all that came out of the kitchen looked delectable. They sell olives, cheeses, local ice cream and plenty of other delightful items. Clean and organized. No public bathroom. Go here.
Food Been hearing about this place for a while and it's near my workplace, so I decided to finally give it a try and I gotta say, it was love at first bite. I got the prime rib and bbq brisket sandwich, and it was a really huge sandwich but I enjoyed every bite into it. The actual meat of the sandwich was tender and flavorful and was perfectly contrasted by the slaw so that you don't get tired of it after one bite. Each bite was a perfect contrast of the rich meats, with just the right amount of acidity coming from the slaw and a nice and sweet roasted onion jam, would definitely recommend this and would look forward to trying their other sandwiches. Service/Ambiance Thankfully, I heard how packed this place can get during lunch time, so I placed a pickup order ahead of time, so I just came in and got my sandwich. While I was there, I did see there was a lot of people waiting so prepare for that if you don't place a pickup order. There wasn't much seating inside the restaurant itself but there were a few tables outside the restaurant
Been to Uptown provisions many time great sandwiches, the atmosphere and crew is always great and so welcoming. I stopped by earlier this week and had to get their seasonal special. They got going on right now. They're chopped cheese. It's just a phenomenal sandwich overall definitely will be back.
My friends and I came on a Sunday for lunch and it was packed! We parked on the street around the corner. I highly recommend ordering online as the wait was 40-hour. There are a few tables outside but they were all taken. I got the Tom's way egg salad sandwich. I was so excited to try it since it looks so good online. When we got our order I was impressed. All our sandwiches were wrapped so nice and neatly with pretty wrapping. The sandwich itself was delicious and was enough for 2 meals. It is messy so grab a lot of napkins! I will definitely stop by again.

My daughter recommended Uptown Provisions for lunch today (7-30-26) and I must say that I was impressed! I ordered a pastrami sandwich and she ordered an Italian sandwich, and we both liked what we ordered. My sandwich had lots of pastrami, great flavoring, and lots of spicy tastes! It wasn't dry nor was it oily! I have had plain Jane pastrami sandwiches before, so I was happy to get a good tasting pastrami full of meat, flavor, and spice! I would definitely order from them again! The pick-up/take out service was excellent as my daughter ordered and paid for the food before getting there. She said it's more of a take out spot as there wasn't much room to sit down. read more
Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! I'll be honest, when my husband suggested we drive 39 minutes for sandwiches, I was initially like... are we really doing this? But by the time we were leaving Uptown provisions, all I could think about was how incredibly worth the drive it was! From the moment we walked in, I loved the vibe. The space is so cool, and everyone was super welcoming. We watched a steady stream of locals come in to grab food they ordered online. You can also grab your drinks and chips from the fridge and shelves before ordering your sandwich. I ordered Tom's Way Egg Sandwich, and as someone who LOVES egg sandwiches and pastrami, I couldn't believe I'd never thought to put the two together! It comes with cheese, pickled onions, and this delicious orange sauce that isn't even mentioned in the description. The combination was SO good. I was honestly shocked by how much I loved it and would absolutely order it again and again. So glad I took a chance on something a little different! My husband got the Uptown and said the smoked turkey was so bomb. He doesn't usually even like avocado, but he was absolutely chomping away at this sandwich So I'd say that's a pretty solid endorsement! We also tried the Mela watermelon water, which was SO light, refreshing, and delicious. Definitely keeping an eye out for those cans now! Whittier is lucky to have this little gem. It seems like the locals know what's up because there was a constant flow of people coming in who clearly love this place. We got lucky with parking. We will absolutely be back again and again, and next time, I won't be questioning the 39 minute drive. read more

Uptown Provisions has been on my radar for quite a bit, as it's pretty hard to find a really good sandwich spot that isn't in actual Los Angeles or West LA. A lot of good options on the menu, but I decided on my maiden visit here that I would get the Prime Rib and BBQ Brisket sandwich. This sandwich is pretty damn good! Loaded with a lot of meat and fresh vegetables. Was able to eat half for lunch and half for dinner since it was so massive! Worth the price IMO. Staff were friendly. I had made the smart decision to schedule a pickup, so all I did was come inside and picked it up. Good thing too, as the wait for sandwiches was already at 35-45 minutes at 11:30 am. Definitely became a fan of Uptown Provisions immediately! Will need to try some of the other sandwiches soon. read more
Located in Whittier, Uptown Provisions serves really amazing sandwiches. I went with the Spicy Gabagool, which is an italian sandwich served on crusty country bread, with savory meats, tangy balsamic glaze, sweet hot honey, and creamy burrata cheese. It's a perfectly balanced sandwich. I wanted to also order their pastrami, but it will have to wait for my next visit. Uptown Provisions sources their briskets and pastrami from RC provisions, the same supplier of the iconic pastrami at Langers. It doesn't mean that it's the same pastrami; however, I don't doubt that Uptown Provisions is able to get quality and reliability from their supplier. They also source really good ingredients that they offer for sale in their pantry. I bought a few cookies that they brought in from Cake Monkey bakeries. They sold frozen burritos from Burritos La Palma, Nancy Silverton's gelato brand, and high-quality oils and condiments. It's obvious that quality ingredients are the reason they have quality sandwiches. Uptown Provisions was worth the trek and, if I can make it back during their limited operating hours, then I will definitely try more of their stuff! read more
My son decided to treat us to lunch on Friday and boy was this a treat! The sandwiches are DELICIOUS! I got the turkey sandwich. It was fresh and full of flavor. I also couldn't believe how big it was. The turkey isn't lunch meat but real turkey. My son got that meatball which is his go to favorite whenever he gets a sandwich. He said this was the best he had ever had. The staff is friendly and helpful and the over all vibe is good. I can't wait to go back and try something new. I learned about this establishment from my son, who had been raving about their sandwiches. We ordered a sandwich called Tom's Way, which we had seen featured on Vic and Jeff's YouTube channel. It was exceptional. The sandwich consisted of a combination of egg salad, pastrami, and coleslaw. The flavors were well balanced, and the toasted bread was terrific. One of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted. We intend to return and sample some of their other sandwich offerings. Their chocolate chip couple was also delicious and highly recommended. So glad I finally got the chance to try Uptown Provisions! It has been on my list for a little while since starting to work in Whittier. This sandwich shop is also a little market with select food items and drinks to buy. Inside there is some countertop space to sit and there is more seating outside, but better for small groups if dining there. We tried the spicy gabagool, prime rib & bbq brisket, and potato salad. Everything was so good! We also added a pickle on the side, for an extra $1. Both sandwiches were so delicious, I definitely want to come back and try more of their menu items. read more

Holy smokes this was so good!! Firstly, Uptown Whittier has some great food spots. But if you're in the area, you'd be making a mistake not coming through Uptown Provisions. They check all the boxes for me: good, original flavors and takes on classics (egg salad for example). The staff is super friendly, they make you feel like you're showing up to your cousins house and hanging out. There's a very cool community vibe there. I ordered an egg salad sandwich, pickle pasta salad, donut cake, summer camp cookie, and a lemon bar. My wife and I tried it all and I have zero negative things to say. The sandwich is huge. Honestly we could have split the sandwich. Lol. There is a small counter seats inside but some tables outside. Probably not great for large parties if you're planning to eat there but great for picking up and taking home too. They had some cool merch on the side too. read more
Would you wait almost an hour for a sandwich? I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I wanted to see if the hype was for real. Could it equal, or better yet dethrone the DA Special at Eastside Market or the #19 at Langers? Well, it's a damn good sandwich. Definitely on par with my other favorites. I had the Spicy Gabagool and it was excellent. You can tell all of the ingredients are quality from the bread to the greens. The hot honey put it over the top. I also had a few bites of the Prime Rib and Brisket which was also excellent. My only gripe is that for a 16-18 dollar sandwich, it's pretty small. Definitely enough for a meal, but it's not a large sandwich. Will I go back? Sure, I live fairly close. But will I be a regular? Probably not. I followed the tips and ordered online at about noon. They gave me a pick up time of 1:15. Parking was not easy to find on a Saturday and I still had to wait 15 minutes after I arrived. People who didn't order ahead were told it would be 55 min. Honestly, if I wanted a sandwich I'd just go to the Board and Brew closer to my house. However, if I lived in Uptown, I'd go there all the time. I mean any eatery with a picture of Bourdain hanging on the wall is with my patronage. I'd definitely always order online though. 55 min is too long to wait for a sandwich. read more
I added hot honey to the market veggie sandwich and it was good! It's not spicy and adds just a hint of sweetness. There was a quite a wait after we ordered, but it was worth the wait. The lobby is pretty fresh and there's a seating area both inside and outside. They offer their own merch and sell high quality items such as olive oil, packed sardines, chili oil, and more. The wrapping paper for the sandwiches is super cute! read more
Finally got to try Uptown Provisions and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Spicy Gabagool and Tuna Salad Sandwich. The Spicy Gabagool was a well balanced sandwich for me with just the right amount of heat. The Tuna Salad Sandwich was very tasty. Honestly all of their offerings seemed really good and I can't wait to go back and try the other ones. It is a small shop with some counter seating inside, and a few small tables outside. Highly recommend ordering in advance online as it gets packed. read more

$21+ and 45 mins for a sandwich, definitely thought the quality would be top notch. Unfortunately it wasn't, was given a bad piece of lettuce. If they didn't care to pay attention to the lettuce, I question the quality of the other ingredients. The bread scratches the roof of your mouth and the sandwich was so hard to bite and fit into your mouth. It was actually pretty dry, needed more sauce. Cookie brownie was good though. read more

Ordered through Uber Eats so only rating the food. I ordered the meatball sub and it was so delicious. The meatball was tender and there was just so much flavor in the sauce and bread. I keep wanting to try the other sandwiches but I just keep coming back to this one! This is the Ham and Cheddar and it's so yummy. Love the flavor of the garlic aioli, the chips sprinkled into to the sandwich, and how thinly sliced the ham is. The sandwhich is perfect and I hope they never change it. Best tuna sandwich in the game, I am not from the area but stop by a few times a year and I have always ordered the same thing--tuna all day! Quality ingredients, a very hefty sandwich, absolutely worth the price. Crunchy veggies, seasoned tuna, not drenched in mayonnaise, amazing bread, I love the thinly sliced radishes. The tuna sandwich is truly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It's memorable! Try the potato salad, it's full of flavor! I split a smoked pastrami with a friend one time, absolutely insane! This place has got a lot of buzz over the years and they deserve it. The spot is always pretty crowded, very little seating, cozy atmosphere. I am pretty sure... I've had every sandwich in the menu by now. The thanksgiving leftovers was definitely a winner for the holidays. I do hope they bring it back. The chicken curry is so delicious it was my first time since last time I came it sold out and let me tell you I've had it two more times since then. Lucky there wasn't a line when I arrived, but there were a lot of orders ahead of us. Ordered the BBQ brisket and prime rib sandwich. Didn't expect it to be cold since I've never personally had a cold BBQ sandwich. The slaw was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful it was, probably one of the best slaws I've had. The bread is toasted nicely and has a nice crunch. The meat in the sandwich wasn't what I was expecting since it didn't really have BBQ flavor to it and I didn't get any fat that I typically get with brisket and prime rib and when it's cold, the fat turns hard if there is any. There was a nice portion of meat inside and was filling. I would get this again now that I know what to expect. Would try other sandwiches here as well. I was craving a sandwich and was in the area, so I decided to try Uptown Provisions. I am not super familiar with this area but it looks like this location is in Whittier downtown? Parking was sort of hard to find on a Sunday on front of the restaurant but there are lots of parking around if you're ok with a little bit of a walk. The inside is smaller and cute and has some limited seating. I was able to order fairly quickly, but it did take quite a long time to get my sandwich since it was busy. I think you can order online also so I would do that next time to skip the wait. As for the sandwich, I got the egg salad and pastrami. I really liked the egg salad, it was seasoned perfectly, just so good. I wasn't the hugest fan of the pastrami, although it was pretty good, I thought the meat was a little dry. I am definitely going to come back here and definitely want to try other sandwiches (the Italian is calling my name). read more
We found this place via Yelp and are so glad we tried it out. The sandwiches and desserts were delicious. I personally loved the Mexican chocolate moon pie and the turkey avocado. The staff was friendly and we even got to meet the owner who was hands on and really took in an interest in customer opinion. I really wanted to love this place after reading all the reviews, but I thought the sandwich was just okay for the wait time and price. Keep in mind I ordered around 12:50pm and the sandwich was ready at 1:45pm. I ordered the Spicy Gabagool Sandwich, and there were barely any mixed greens as compared to other reviews & the menu photo (I love my veggies)! The meats were yummy, but they did not stand out to me/didn't taste anything special. Unfortunately, the same goes for the bread. However, I did like the packaging of the sandwich and everything in the sandwich tasted well together; the chile spread, burrata, hot honey, pickled onions, meats.. the spice level is definitely tolerable; I didn't need water at all. It was more of a small kick. I also tried their lemon crumb bar and it was very delicious! If anything I would come again to try more of their unique baked goods. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance of the shop. It is quite small and there are many people waiting for their order inside. There is only outdoor seating, which is scarce. read more
