All I can say is l love this place! I've been coming here since they opened and not once have I been disappointed. I used to always get meat from Stater Bros or Costco since moving here in 2021, therefore my expectations weren't that high to begin but this little butcher shop definitely exceeded them. I've bought tomahawks, Dino ribs, porterhouses, tasajo strips, flank ribs, flap meat, ribeyes, chicken quarters, wings, shrimp and I've even tried their cream, queso fresco, sauces and chicharrones. Never once have I been disappointed and now after coming here I can't settle for anything less. I tired SB meats again once because they had "tasajo" and it was rubber, chewy and had no flavor. Meanwhile the tasajo at Don Peters is soft, buttery, and is delectable. I also prefer their unmarinated stuff because I love to use my own spices and stuff but their stuff isn't bad either. It's just a personal preference. I understand the prices aren't cheap and not everyone can afford to get meat here often but if you can budget it in, I recommend it because you get more flavor and better cuts than anywhere nearby. I will say they don't have much staff but you just need to be patient as that's the norm for small mom-and-pop shops. It's very clean and tidy too. I also appreciate the selection of marinades, seasoning and other stuff they offer like tortillas, tortillla chips, charcoal, beers, sodas, salsas, chips, jerky (the jalapeño one is great) and typical Mexican snacks like nuts, candies and candies sauces. Plus the little grocery items (cilantro, tomato, peppers, onion, garlic and limes; typical for any carne asada or grilling activity). They also have ice pops and sorbets which my kids love. Overall they offer great quality cuts, decent prices, large variety of items and a good selection of meats and meat types. Decided to try this new meat market in my neighborhood. It has only been open a couple of months. Cool automatic sliding doors at the entrance. It was very clean. They sell prime meat , sodas , snacks , Mexican cheese , salsa, charcoal and seafood . We tried the 6pieces of seasoned short ribs ( gal bi) and one ribeye . We spent about $50. Went home and broiled the short ribs for lunch! It was delicious! Thicker cut than I'm used to. Also, the Mexican style seasoning was really good. ( very different from my usual soy sauce & sugar) Broiled the ribeye steak the next day. It was pretty darn good too. I'll be coming back to get my prime meat ! read more

I tried the prime carne asada and in my opinion it was not as tender and marinated as others I've tried. I felt Northgates ranchera is better and is a little less per pound and it too is prime. I felt the cut was a little thick and lacked marinade. Just my opinion.i did bbq this and I did 2 separate sessions thinking perhaps I overcooked the 1st time and did the 2nd round under less time and did not see a significant change or result. read more

I've been to Don Peter's Carniceria several times now, and they never disappoint. Most recently on Valentine's Day, they offered an incredible steak and lobster special for two -- and both were absolutely top quality. The steak was beautifully marbled and tender, and the lobster tails were fresh and delicious. For the quality you're getting, the prices are surprisingly low. I've also tried several of their marinated meats, along with their fresh salsas and guacamole, and everything has been consistently outstanding. Its new, clean, and the carne asada was very good. My bf was making a tomahawk, but I really wanted carne asada. I have been wanting to try this place, so I came by. I ordered two pounds of meat, some salsa, guacamole ( too many onions for me ), and beans. The guy with the tomahawk loved and ate a lot of the carne asada. The salsa and beans were good. The red one was too hot for me, but the other one was delicious. The chips were bland. The service was great, though. Very friendly. read more

I've said this before but I'm hard on my city! I really do expect nothing but the best especially from new business. They definitely provided friendly service, it's clean, smaller than expected. Nothing is priced along the wall. Maybe I didn't look good enough but I picked up 3 different items nothing priced! The wall consists of hard chicharron, chamoy goodies, chips, tortillas... They had about 5-6 different choices, ceviche, shrimp. It not much of a variety. It is priceyyyyyyy! Whew! To each their own! I know everything is pricey! But yikes! I ordered 3 lbs of costillas priced $7.99 lbs. My costillas were already in bag when the girl switch the price and said "oh prices are wrong!". My costillas were $14.99 a pound!! Um nope! I'm sorry but I need that priced honored. It didn't happen. The lady in front of me was also lost in the confusion!! I just walked out! I'm sure the meat is good but so is other markets in the area. OK this was my first time here, and I ordered the thin steaks. I know, I should have ordered something better. But I didn't want to spend that much on this day. I cooked it up on the grill and the meat tasted like soap or some kind of cleaner. I gave Don peters the benefit of the doubt. Today I cooked the rest of the meat to make philly cheese steaks and that taste was ever present. Had to toss it. I don't know if it was transfer from the slicer, or what, but a whole meal was ruined because of it. Very disappointed. read more

First time visit at this new meat market. Family run, with the original location located in Rialto. This shop is spotless and looking pretty slick with a great mural inside. Customer service is on point and also has shelves loaded with items like seasonings, chicharron, charcoal, etc. As far as the meat, they only carry prime and wagyu grade beef which tastes great but your wallet will hate you afterwards. They do post specials and also carry chicken and some seafood items. I ordered the marinated diesmillo which was $10/lb and it was amazing. Well I heard some good things about this place. Was able to try it this past weekend at a carnival here in Whittier. They had their own taco stand in the beer garden and the carnival had a taco stand also. Don Peters supplied the meat for carnival taco stand as well. We ordered tacos from the other taco stand, the Asada looked like ground beef, very bland on the flavor. A lot of fat pieces, along with other junk. Their own taco stand in the beer garden had better cut of meat. This bid a bad representation of their brand. Yea, I won't be visiting their meat market anytime soon. First time coming here and unfortunately probably last time. Spent about $65 in food for chicharrones, shrimp, and chicken wings. Everything had a weird taste to it and had to toss most of the food. Also, the bags were fragranced. My guess is someone made a mistake and ordered fragranced bags instead of non fragranced. The fragrance then leaked into the meat.
