    Chicken Tawook Plate

Really do I need to update my 5 star review to a 5 start review. Yes! The quality remains top score. Dolmas are great. The lemon salmon off the charts. I think they recently changed the menus so if you have not been here in a while you must. Staff is always friendly and polite. Totally my local favorite because it's walking distance - or plenty of parking and great food. It's a cafe style so don't expect waited services. Sit where available. Place has always been spotless. So wha ya waiting for.

Customer service was lacking. Kibeh or kibee was the best. Meat seemed bland and so did the chicken. We love kebabs and can recommend so many good places but this unfortunately isn't one we will come back too. The soup had great reviews but I think they over did it on turmeric this time. I'll post a picture so you can see the color, compared to the other lentil soup pictures on here. The place definitely needs a little sprucing up.

Stopped in for lunch on a weekday, after reading positive yelp reviews! You might miss this place if you weren't looking for it because of the busy shopping center it's located in. Tons of parking, lots of seating inside, friendly staff, and super quick service. I tried the Fattoush salad, it was ready in under two minutes. The salad dressing was delicious - full of fresh herbs, it was also a good portion and fair price. The staff behind the counter helping take my order was extremely friendly and welcoming. Will be coming back if I find myself in the area, I recommend giving them a try for yourself!

Beef Shawarma Plate hitting the soul oof

Mazaya is one of those places you order when you want comfort food. It is one of my all time favorite restaurants in the area by far. The beef shawarma plate is incredibly delicious and can easily be split for 2 people, their portions are massive. Today I ordered the lentil soup too because it is a rainy day, and it is also a hefty portion, also delicious. In case you haven't noticed by my multiple reviews of this place, I love mazayas!! Lol

Came here for a quick dinner, we ordered beef and chicken shawarma plate. Their portion is pretty big and can be easily shared by 2 people. However, the meat was on the dry side and I wish they gave more of the white sauce or at least have it on the side. Service was good, we got our food within 10 mins of ordering. I'm interested in trying kafta next time.

What a delicious meal! All the food tasted so fresh! The chicken was so flavorful and the rice was fluffy and hot! The salad was very tasty! The crunch and tartness from the salad really complimented the chicken shawarma. I loved the mouthwatering food here! Prices were about $13 per plate and totally worth it. It was big enough to make two meals! Service was friendly and quick. The restaurant is clean but nothing fancy and there's plenty of parking out f I would highly recommend eating here!

Chicken Tawook Plate with fattoush salad & Filet Mignon plate with Greek salad

Finally, an amazing Mediterranean (Lebanese inspired) joint in the Whittier-vicinity! We ordered the Chicken Tawook and Filet Mignon plate with a side of falafels. First thing to impress me was how fresh and homemade the food tasted! Both the chicken and filet Mignon were perfectly cooked (juicy and flavorful) and the portions were plentiful. No doubt the falafels are a passed down recipe from the mother country! I was told everything is made from scratch in this family-owned business and I don't doubt it. The joint was tidy and clean- nothing too impressive when it comes to ambiance. The menu was straight forward and very reasonably priced. They were able to accommodate customizations to the entrees, like ordering individual falafels instead of the plate. I'm definitely returning soon!

We order take out from here. Very friendly service. Always clean. Spicy potatoes are good. We enjoy the dinner plates.

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

There is more outdoor seating on the covered patio than indoor seating. Both seating areas are nice. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. Overall, nice local joint for a peaceful weekend or vacation breakfast. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Will be back sometime.

There were NO customers as we entered the restaurant, perhaps we came in rather late, an hour before closing. Nonetheless, considering there's no one inside the place, the service was aloof, distant and not attentive. As staff were going home, the two waitresses did not check on us for refill of coffee and water. When we paid the bill and generously tipped, we said, "bye!", the waitress was seating with her phone glued to her face. The food was decent. I ordered the "House full French Toast", and it is loaded with sliced strawberries and bananas, and drowned in chocolate drizzles. The brioche toasts were a tad dried and spongy but well coated with eggs. Delicious still. My other half ordered a Spanish omelette; it was good. We both got a little queasy in the tummy afterward. Considering spotty service and average food, we're not coming back. 2.5 stars.

The burrito was tasty - loaded with eggs, bacon and ham, hash browns with crispy bits, cheese, and fresh pico de gallo. 10/10 Salsa Verde was flavorful, could use more heat. 9/10 The buttermilk biscuits were topped with sausage gravy. The biscuits were great, crispy on the edges, soft in the middle. The gravy was too salty for both of us. It's our first time here, so I'm not certain if that is how the gravy normally is or if they just got a bit heavy handed with the salt today. Unfortunately, great food and friendly service weren't enough to outweigh the inconveniences. I'm not high-maintenance, but I do value a smooth dining experience. My friend wasn't allowed to be seated until I arrived, which felt unnecessary. They also wouldn't provide separate checks. We were told they could accept two forms of payment on one check, but when it came time to pay, they would only split the bill evenly, even though I ordered more than my friend. The seating was very cramped, there wasn't a mirror in the restroom, and the toilet didn't flush. The food was great, but the overall experience wasn't. I'd recommend ordering to-go instead.
