Sorry we won't be back, when they close the dining more than an hour before closing they should not be in the service industry. Their website says they close at 9pm and we walked in and waited at least 10-15 minute before someone came out from the back, and only because someone in here waiting for their order walked into the back asking if they could correct their order. I mentioned it might be could to include this on their website that the dining room closes at 8pm not just that they closed at 9pm since we walked 3 miles to get here, in order to get some exercise; he just glared at me. No exception, no accommodation, no apology. Please be better, we looked your food and wanted to treat our friends. Plus my husband ordered Lamb and we're pet sure he got steak. Really do I need to update my 5 star review to a 5 start review. Yes! The quality remains top score. Dolmas are great. The lemon salmon off the charts. I think they recently changed the menus so if you have not been here in a while you must. Staff is always friendly and polite. Totally my local favorite because it's walking distance - or plenty of parking and great food. It's a cafe style so don't expect waited services. Sit where available. Place has always been spotless. I've been a regular here since they opened and not one thing has changed. It's a family owned and operated spot with traditional Lebanese/Mediterranean cuisine. The food was fresh and tasty. The service was accommodating and ambiance was relaxed and friendly.

We did takeout. The beef kafta was so tender, warm and perfectly spiced (maybe it was a hint of nutmeg or cinnamon). The rice was perfectly cooked, the hummus had a lovely nutty flavor (perhaps tahini?). The salad had such a good and tangy dressing and the pink pickled beets brightened up the entire plate (I could eat 100 of those!). We also got stuffed grape leaves, also excellent. They gave us garlic sauce on the side which was great to dip the kafta. Overall I cannot wait to come back. I definitely recommend. read more

Customer service was lacking. Kibeh or kibee was the best. Meat seemed bland and so did the chicken. We love kebabs and can recommend so many good places but this unfortunately isn't one we will come back too. The soup had great reviews but I think they over did it on turmeric this time. Stopped in for lunch on a weekday, after reading positive yelp reviews! You might miss this place if you weren't looking for it because of the busy shopping center it's located in. Tons of parking, lots of seating inside, friendly staff, and super quick service. I tried the Fattoush salad, it was ready in under two minutes. The salad dressing was delicious - full of fresh herbs, it was also a good portion and fair price. The staff behind the counter helping take my order was extremely friendly and welcoming. Mazaya is one of those places you order when you want comfort food. It is one of my all time favorite restaurants in the area by far. The beef shawarma plate is incredibly delicious and can easily be split for 2 people, their portions are massive. Food 2/5: Ordered the kafta plate and chicken shawarma plate. The meat in the shawarma was very dry and had many chewy inedible parts and the hummus tasted slightly rancid. The kafta was better, but probably not something I would come back for. The best part of the plate was probably the salad, unfortunately. Service 3/5: Food took quite some time to come out. Price $$: In my opinion, it just isn't worth it for the quality of food. I started working in the plaza very close to MAZAYA so I've been coming in quite often for lunch. The vibe inside is nice, and the decor and service make it seem like a family-run business with a lot of care. I have tried both of their shawarma plates and a chicken tawook wrap. The shawarma is solid on most days, only once in a while is the meat slightly tough or something. All the ingredients taste super fresh, and their hummus is very good. The only issue I've ever had was that my orders typically take quite a bit of time to prepare, even when no one else is in, which can be troublesome on a lunch break. However, it's never too long (around 20 mins), and the trade off is that the food is prepared fresh which for me is always worth it. Let me start with the falafel- seriously I thought there was a standard size and it's like such a simple dish how can you mess it up. Well it was so dry and the pieces were the size of a fat quarter! I am not even exaggerating. There was no tahini sauce included. The foul was terrible, it was thick and bland, they gave you menudo sides to flavor it up. The Kafka plate was the best part of the meal. Each plate had humus, they were creamy and had good flavor. Total negative for a medi place. No garlic!!! What a delicious meal! All the food tasted so fresh!The chicken was so flavorful and the rice was fluffy and hot! The salad was very tasty! Finally, an amazing Mediterranean (Lebanese inspired) joint in the Whittier-vicinity! We ordered the Chicken Tawook and Filet Mignon plate with a side of falafels. First thing to impress me was how fresh and homemade the food tasted! Both the chicken and filet Mignon were perfectly cooked (juicy and flavorful) and the portions were plentiful. No doubt the falafels are a passed down recipe from the mother country! I was told everything is made from scratch in this family-owned business and I don't doubt it. The joint was tidy and clean- nothing too impressive when it comes to ambiance. The menu was straight forward and very reasonably priced. Been here twice. First time was good. Second time not so much. Last time i was here i got the chicken shwarma plate. I'll give them props for the value. The serving size of this plate can easily feed 2. Kind of important these days with the price of everything going up all the time. What didn't i like? The chicken just didn't taste right. Walked up to the counter thinking no one was there but as I approached the cash register there was a man sitting in office chair who finally greeted me. He was on a phone personal phone call and did not hang up his call. While I was waiting he continued to argue with whoever was on the other end of his phone call. As my food was ready he tossed it on the counter and said "Here". I ordered the filet mignon plate and it was pretty good, some of the kabob was cooked a little more than other parts but still good. Well I'm back again. This time I tried their Chicken Tawook. The chicken was well done. I prefer medium done. Nevertheless I enjoyed its delicate flavor and that it's not overly spiced. Their hummus texture is outstanding, so, so smooth and fresh with a great taste. The roasted jalapeño is a nice surprise to the plate. I also tried the Fattoush salad for the first time. If you like salad this is where to go. The mint is a special touch. So far I've had 3 of the 4 salads offered and all have been great. Cesar took my order and was pleasant. I came about forty minutes before closing so it wasn't as busy and we were able to chat a bit. This is the sixth time for me and I'll keep coming back. PARKING: Shares a plaza with a ton of restaurants and a dive bar nearby so it's always semi-busy. There will always be parking, you might just have to park further. AMBIANCE: It's a big place and was empty. I was the only person in there waiting for my to go order. Maybe it's busier during rush hours. But just thought I'd mention. $14 CHICKEN SHAWARMA: I usually don't like Mediterranean rice, but I ate this one! Seemed not as dry? Chicken was a good portion. Came with the most delicious salad & hummus. Also one tiny portion of garlic paste which was only half full. I used up the whole thing, next time I'll ask for another one. Who could ask for more?! The decor is rather sparse, but spacious and clean. The servers were so polite and friendly. Next time I'll give them a bigger tip.
