Our annual visit to LA also means another visit to Wurstküche! Ever since my son introduced us to this place, we've been fans. I got my usual, the Bockwurst with caramelized onions and sauerkraut. I don't remember what my husband and son ordered... We also got the fries to share. Everything tasted great as always but unfortunately, a couple of the sausages were quite charred this time. That was disappointing because we could actually taste the bitterness from the burnt parts. We've always had such a good experience here so hopefully this was just an off day. To preface my experiences here... I really wanted to give a higher review because I love the friendly attitude of some of the employees here and the vibe is pretty cool! But, those two factors are what carries this review. The Bratwursts are... interesting. Despite the interesting names and the atheistic construction I found the ones that I tried to be lacking in flavor. The fries are... ok. A little more well done for my liking but a decent shareable menu item if you're just looking to pick from the table. The potato flavor is light due to the varying sizes in the bag you may find yourself avoiding the smaller fries until the end. The available condiments make things more interesting mainly because of the variety rather than the flavors. The drink options are the star of the show and the varieties I've tried are decent and refreshing. Drinks with good conversation and maybe a TCG event are my ideal hangout when visiting. Overall not bad but I'll mainly be coming here for drinks with friends. But give it a try! Belgian style fries/sausages may not be to my liking but who knows, you might really enjoy it! read more

Walking by Wurstküche you always get a whiff of really appetizing smelling fries. I'm happy we finally decided to stop by and try it out since it's always so lively here. Their menu consisted a huge selection of beer, sausages and dipping sauces for fries. We opted for the Duchesse sour, Dr. Browns Black Cherry pop, Duck sausage, Buffalo sausage, and small fries with curry ketchup. The ambience was great! It felt like a beer hall since it had long tables and benches in the middle, everyone was drinking beer having a great time. There were also smaller cozier tables on the side if you wanted a more intimate space. We enjoyed our drinks and people watched while we waited for our food. The Duchesse red ale sour was really yummy, it was a good balance of sweet and tartness. We got the duck, bacon, and jalapeño sausage with sweet peppers and caramelized onions, the hot dog was delicious!! The sausage was a bit rich but the savory flavours were incredible, it was grilled well with a nice crispy skin and paired really well with the sweet peppers. You also get a huge selection of different mustards to try - yellow, dijon, seeded, honey, brown, you name it, they've got it. The buffalo, cherry and mint sausage was very good as well, but it's a bit more dry and gamey than the duck. The grilled bun is just ok, it's a solid blank canvas to highlight the tasty sausages. The fries are fat boys and seasoned very well. I normally am not a fan of thick fries but these changed my mind, the curry ketchup gave it a nice complexity as well. This place is always recommended to me on Yelp anytime I try to find places to eat in Little Tokyo and technically it's in the Arts District, but it's within walking distance. I've had my brother and several friends say that it's good and since we were closer to this area for a pop up event, we dropped by and I finally had a chance to try it. We visited during the final game of the World Cup, so there was no more indoor dining, but there's a couple bench tables outside at the side of the building. Part of the building shades over the seating, so even on a pretty hot day, this worked in a pinch and there was a slight breeze too, thank goodness. Staff was helpful and and answered our questions. They also brought our order out to the tables outside, which was nice. They also took our trash and tray back when we were done too. Each table has ketchup, brown and spicy mustard if need be. Inside, you order and pay at the cashier, grab a number, and they bring it to you. There's a bunch of sausage links on display, as well as the sodas and you can see some of the beer that they have too. For our Sunday lunch, we got the: 1) Sunset Zero soda: -It's an imported German soda. Love that there's a zero sugar version. It's a citrus cola with ending vanilla notes. Way better than some of the orange Pepsi/Pepsi Fire they ran in the past. Nice to try. 2) Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeno Peppers: -Unique combination of predator and prey meats all encased into one sausage. Also, not often you can get these meats as well. -Slight spicy kick to it from the jalapenos and rich, buttery texture of the meats together. -Each hot dog comes with 2 toppings and we got caramelized onions and sauerkraut with this which added a nice sour and sweet taste to it too. -I liked this the most of the 2 of them. 3) Pheasant with Herbs de Provence: -Nice savory flavor, but I was a fool and ordered this with the sweet and spicy peppers as a topping since they were different from the other toppings we got and I mostly just tasted the bitter aftertaste of the peppers that sort of overpowered the meats. My mistake if anything since the bites with just meat and mustard were delicious. 4) Groot of Belgian Fries: -Huge serving, way too much for 2 people especially with 2 hot dogs and we sadly could not finish it, but at the very least it came with 2 dipping sauces. -Before ordering this, I didn't groot referred to anything other than a Marvel character. -Fries had a rich, deeper flavor than standard fries, nice slight crispiness. We got it with curry ketchup and sundried tomato mayo. The tomato mayo was fine, definitely a lighter flavor and since the fries tasted so rich on their own, I feel like the curry ketchup was a more flavorful and better match. Drunken birthday parties squirting mustard, Belgian beers before a Lakers or Dodgers game, succulent sausages after a rainy LA Auto Show, and many more memories. I have been going to Wurstküche heavily when it first opened and then sporadically throughout the years. Although I have changed as a person, Wurstküche is still a solid place where you can have a casual, good quality food with great drinks (beer and international sodas.) Everything that I have tried was delicious- bratwurst, hot Italian, Kielbasa, duck and bacon, even the rattlesnake/rabbit. The one that I have always ordered was the Filipino sausage, the Maharlika. The fries are crispy and addictive. There are several dipping sauces available and I like the curry ketchup and the blue cheese and bacon. Service is efficient and fast. You order at the front counter and someone will bring it out to your table. In this location, the patio area is located by the sidewalk/street and it is covered and enclosed, but still open to the public. The long wooden tables are packed with people and there's almost kind of an Oktoberfest vibe. Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeño: I decided to go with one of the exotic options. The sausage is rather mild and buttery in flavor with a firm chicken-like texture. There's a great snap, but the jalapeño peppers don't really register any heat. 12/1/2025 Wurstkuche 800 E 3rd St Los Angeles, CA 90013 I went with my nephew on his recommendation for a late lunch on a Tuesday. This German sausage place is near Little Tokyo in DTLA. There is only pay street parking but we had no problem finding a spot a block away, not typical. The set up is an order counter, pay and take your aluminum number tower to your table. The menu cards are at the counter. The menu consists of gourmet hot dogs, toppings, fries and German/Belgian beers. There are both interior and exterior tables. It was a nice day so we chose the patio with a picnic table setup. We ordered the Hot Italian and Hungarian Heat with fries. Our meal in aluminum trays was brought shortly by our very nice server. The Italian was good but I thought the Hungarian was better flavored. Both had good heat. The wedge fries were piping hot, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside; outstanding. Appalled at the attitude of one the employees here. He has a large beard and was wearing newsboy cap working Saturday night 4/4. It was past midnight and we had just ordered our hot dogs and beer. Our friend was really tired after a 12 hour shift at the hospital with only an hour of sleep. So he puts his head down on the table and not five minutes later, this worker starts shouting at us saying "HE CAN'T BE SLEEPING HERE. THIS IS A RESTAURANT. THIS IS A BUSINESS. HE HAS TO WAKE UP OR WE HAVE TO KICK YOU GUYS OUT. GET UP." It was so disrespectful. All he had to do was tell us to wake him up and did not have to shout or scream at us in this manner. I observed him later walking back to the bar and was basically on his phone for the rest of the night. If he is part of the "security team", he needs to do better because that was unacceptable. First, are sausages and brats considered glizzies? Because that almost cheapens their immediately striking presence as something more. "Premium glizzie"...? "Glitzy"...? Anyway, we set our sights on this sausage house and pub after adventuring through a literary festival for the day. Shout out to the FOB! Though we established our collective first visit on nibbles, I think we had the right bites to hold us for a round of talking and taking in our day. On our table: the buffalo and luxardo sausage, topped with a double helping of sauerkraut; and the almighty Kielbasa, topped with caramelized onions and sweet peppers. With a whole lotta of Belgian fries on the side. Both sausages had a great snap to their casings. The buffalo had that trademark lean texture, with a minty finish, that the kraut did a great job of cutting through. The double helping was a bit much but I was also okay with not outfitting the exotic buffalo with any varietal of mustard or ketchup. The Polish Kielbasa was my test selection for the meal. On initial visits, I like to go with a classic to establish a baseline of quality with a restaurant I intend to visit more than once. They gotta do that right if they want me to be adventurous about more house special items. Flying colors. It [tasted] like it was made in house. The pork and beef and spices were a fun unit of elements. And I've eaten Kielbasa a million times. The juices were there and they were great about dancing on the interior of the roll - which was kind of the unsung hero of both the sausage entrees. I don't think any bun from a restaurant glizzie has ever really been memorable. But ironically, it kind of makes the dish as a mostly-seamless bread, meat and condiments ensemble. The fries were great European chip companions, fried optimally past golden brown with varying insides of potato mush. Dipping them in our chipotle aioli and curry ketchup was far from difficult. The toasted apple pie ice cream sandwich was an intriguing prospect, between oatmeal raisin cookies. Plenty are made and stored ahead of time, for efficiency. But it'd be interesting to have at more of a live version with some cool sauce drizzles. It was fine for dessert. There's more to sip and chew through here, to make you feel like you're almost glamping it at some outdoors oasis. So I will find an excuse to get frustrated by DTLA parking again, eventually, for some brat and/or sausage nourishment. read more

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. My friends and I came here to watch the World Cup Final, and we ordered plenty of food and drinks. An employee who claimed to be the manager became hostile toward us because he thought our group was standing too close together. Instead of speaking to us professionally, he repeatedly yelled at us, used profanity, and treated us with complete disrespect. We remained calm and tried to cooperate, but immediately after we finished eating, he falsely accused us of not ordering anything and demanded that we leave. The situation became even more unacceptable when he physically pushed members of our group toward the exit while continuing to curse at us. We were paying customers and did nothing to justify being verbally abused and physically removed. The owner is apparently named Jake. Management should seriously investigate what happened. Nobody should be treated this way. I will never return and strongly recommend avoiding this business. read more

Absolutely disgraceful experience. Avoid this place at all costs. We came here specifically to watch the World Cup Final and spent a significant amount of money ordering food and drinks. Instead of treating paying customers with basic respect, an employee who claimed to be the manager immediately became hostile toward our group because he thought we were standing too close together. If this is how customers are treated under his management, he should be ashamed. This is without question one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.
