Founded in 2014, Wursthaus was created by friends with the idea of bringing a modern European-style beer hall experience to Orange County. Their concept focused on gourmet sausages, Belgian and German beers, communal dining tables, and a relaxed social atmosphere. We came here with our group our friend and got to feast upon some dogs and wursts. One of the interesting features that have is that they carry exotic proteins such as alligators, rabbit, or rattlesnake in their links; but if you're more of a vanilla eater, than you're probably opt for the beef, pork or chicken flavored. Either way, make sure you pair it with any of their 10+ beers on tap and you'll for sure enjoy every moment of that bite. I ordered their cheddar bratwurst topped with pickled jalapenos and carmelized onions in a pretzel bun. The wurst was kind of the dry side but beer always helps. I do think sometimes that they over cook it which drys out all the delicious fat out of the links but I am here for drinks and a good time. Great spot to hang out for any type of gathering.
Man, I have been looking at this place and never seemed to go. What a mistake. This is like my perfect place: sausage, fries and beer! Juan gave me a quick tour. Food is ordered up front and beer is in the back bar area. The beers are all German and Belgian which is a nice change from most places. They have many styles of sausages and you can top them with any of their toppings. There's even vegetarian sausages so no one is left out. Belgian fries cooked 3 times is their other specialty served with a bunch of sauce options. There's an outdoor patio area and the bar area inside where most of the seating is. It took me too long to visit here but I'll be back soon.
No line to order at ~7:30pm on a Sunday. Truly, a great spot for dinner! Our dogs were cooked and prepped and ready in under 10 mins. The fries were perfectly crisp, and the brat/frank were juicy with good snaps. Definitely try their selection of mustards. Oh! And don't forget to grab a Früli from the bar in the back! Parking: plenty of street parking and parking lot space available (1st hour free, $1.50 per hour, $15 daily max)

Wursthaus is one of those place that its hard to not go so often where you are in down town Santa Ana area. The ambiance is chill and its great place to have few beers and great yummy small sausages. When we arrived, they were so welcoming and friendly. Belen E was the server who helped us with our sausages. We ordered 2 exotic Sausages Rattlesnake & Rabbit & Bison with Cheddar & Jalapeño (@$10.95/each) total $21.90 and HH fries for $3.50 as the side order. Karla R. (From recipe) helped us with 1 BRLO PALE for $10.00 on the bar. Overall, we enjoyed our night. The parking spots in front of the restaurant is few but in the same street there is a public parking which isn't free but it's worth to not waste time! Definitely, this is one of those place that its always in my to go list.
Total was $43 for a 3 sausage sampler, drunken fries, pretzel Chimay beer was $12 Dark and loud environment, good for groups cuz beer and fun environment. It may be a little hard to hear though. Chicken mango 4/5 This was tasty. Juicy and unique with a slight kick from the jalepeno. Smoked Hungarian Pass cuz nothing stood out too much about it Spicy polish Tastes like a polish dog .. the one from Costco I like better, seemed juicier with better snap? Pretzel 2/5 Texture is like fluffy bread with a malty flavor and crunch of pretzel salt. Not too much of a crust. Cheese sauce is light in color and isn't too cheesy but has enough flavor to keep dipping. Pretzel bun 4/5 Much better! This has a nice, browned crust and fluffy inside. Pretzel flavor throughout. I'd get another one of these with an order of the cheese sauce lol Drunken fries 2/5 Not crispy and texture is like soft potatoes . Stellar drunken caramelized onions, intensely sweet. Service They take your order at the front, you pay and tip there. If you want a beer you order at the back of the restaurant. Beer Bae liked so that's enough lol strawberry tastes like strawberry juice.
I would have loved to give 5 stars, but the bartender at the beer side in the back was a bit rude and unfriendly. But otherwise, Wursthaus was awesome! The sausages were delicious as was the chili fries. I also loved the German beer. I'll be going to Oktoberfest in Germany this year, so I was super excited to get my German beer palate ready. I must say the bread with the sausages was fantastic! I wish they would give another piece! Parking was a bit hard cause meters are only 2 hours, but we did find the parking structure super close and it's free for 2 hours and then they charge. I do wish the back area was more lit. Me and my friends went for the purpose of eating, drinking & playing board games. We ended up playing one game the whole time, and it was great as we had a little section to ourselves the whole time.
The location is a really cute and quiet area. When you walk in you can order, the back has seating and it has more of a bar vibe but you can also sit outside. The pretzel was really good, the bread was a nice fluffy style of bread. We got the shared sausage plate which I think was really worth it. We had three people and the 3 tester plate and a pretzel was more than enough for us. And this way you can try more than one sausage. We got three exotic flavors and all three were really good. My personal favorite was duck one highly recommend trying that one, you don't really taste the cilantro either.
I've been to Wursthaus countless times before, but this was my first time trying their sausage sampler. I originally planned to go with my usual bratwurst, but after seeing their new Venison sausage -- and having had the Nurnberger at Oktoberfest the week prior -- I decided to go for all three. At first, I figured I'd take some leftovers home, but everything was too good to stop. Each sausage had its own distinct flavor, and I ended up finishing them all. The Nurnberger came out on top for me and will definitely be my pick going forward.

Wursthaus is a cool spot for sausages and a great selection of beers. The underground setting gives the place a unique vibe, and overall the atmosphere is really nice. Unfortunately, the staff at the entrance/host area really took away from the experience. They seemed tired and made us feel like we were bothering them when we asked for recommendations. It honestly felt like they were just waiting for their shift to be over. the food, beer, and atmosphere were good enough that I wouldn't completely rule out coming back. Hopefully next time we'll catch a different shift! read more
We find this place on... you guessed it. Yelp! Lol Went to a concert and was looking for some after concert food. They were out of alligator, wagu, venison and all the exotic stuff except for rabbit but also it's later so it is what it is. Initially walked in and didn't get the best customer service vibes. (Good music though) 90's vibes. Smoked Hungarian with drunken onions and mushrooms. 9/10. Very good. Customer service 3/10. Girl in the front was super dismissive and it came off very rude. read more

I've been to Wursthaus countless times before, but this was my first time trying their sausage sampler. i have come here on many occasions after salsa classes & visiting night markets. i love the location being next to the parking structure. everytime i walk by, i think its this small little shop, but once you order (and sometimes there is a line, but it moves fast), you walk in the back to be seated and theres plenty of room + outdoor seating too! ive taken many friends here after salsa classes and everyone's always happy to have sausages and beer! THE ORDER: -smoked bratwurst ($8.55) for the classic section - flavorful, hot, and juicy. i usually go with a traditional grinder roll with drunken onions. im basic but always happy -drunken fries ($8) - fries are thick cut with a sauce similar to thousand island and the delicious IPA caramelized onions PROS: -vibes in the back -the variety & plentiful options on how to take your sausage -love the different price points for someone to enjoy a sausage -affordable -friendly staff -indoor/outdoor seating -restrooms never have a line -the sauces!!! BOMB -sells alcohol -food comes out quick CONS: -truthfully, none! OVERALL: next time im in the area you might see me back here with a good ol smoked bratwurst in hand and some delicious fries!! recommend if you enjoy sausages and want a laid back atmosphere read more

This place was cool . We got there Sunday around 7:45pm pretty empty because they close at 9 . We also had to use the parking structure but didn't have to pay because we were within the hour and a half so it was free . Now for the important stuff -- we ordered the polish dog with a pretzel bun bell peppers and drunken onions ( caramelized ) ketchup , honey mustard and spicy brown are available at the counter. French fries with sauce and onions on top . Like animal style fries but much better- I didn't have any beer but they had several options - restrooms were also available which is great will be back for sure - read more

A real solid spot for all types of sausages and beer! We came across this spot accidentally as we were unsatisfied and still hungry from our pizza dinner at Loosie's across the street. The wait was kind of long with only two employees manning the grill and delivering meals to the tables. But the sign at the cashier did warn that this is not fast food and that everything is freshly prepared. So with all things good, a wait and patience is needed, but well worth the wait it was. The food side of the establishment connects to the bar side but we sat at the tables outside. We ordered an assorted sausage combo platter. I honestly can't remember all the flavors but I can say that everything was delicious! And, more importantly, that we will be back for more! read more

Best Belgian fries on this side of the hemisphere, they have a really good selection of beers and they're updated weekly, friendly staff will explain all the different beers and even let you try a splash of whatever beer you'd like to try, ten outta ten, do recommend. This place is such an experience! The atmosphere is incredibly fun and genuinely makes you feel like you've been transported straight to European beer garden. They have a fantastic menu with tons of great options for sausage! , the pretzel and fries are the absolute standout--they were amazing! All my cravings in one place. Beer, pickles, and sausages. Dark little corner that's good for a late evening situation. The sampler is a great introduction to this place with 3 sausages, a roll, and unlimited side pickled items. It is a bit sneaky price-wise depending on which categories you choose your sausages from. I'd get it again, though. The fries were just so-so. I wish there were more shared plate type dishes on the menu. Bar service is in the back, and there's a decent variety. Overall, service was pretty quick. Plenty of street parking, but they do charge until 10pm. read more

Been wanting to come here for a while now and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Smoked Cheddar Brat in a pretzel roll and it was delicious. I had it topped with sauerkraut and drunken onions and they were great as well. I paired my meal with the strawberry beet, Frulli, which was very refreshing and complemented the meal well. I'm giving the place 4 stars only because my friend and I had both requested a "complimentary pickle available upon request" and neither of us received it, otherwise it would be 5 stars all around. Such a cool place for friends or family. It doesn't look like there's a seating place when you first walk in but when you go down the hallway it's like you're unlocking a speakeasy because there's a big seating area with big bench seating great for big groups to hang out and large bar top and booths. Air conditioned too. I loved their food too. Their cheese sauce is a must order. Loved their cheddar and jalapeño with their honey mustard. They give you 5 different mustards on the tables to try. read more

My family and I all love Wursthaus! Especially on Sunday when it's happy hour prices :) my favorite is the spicy polish and Cajun chicken, both have the right amount of kick. Fries with chipotle aioli is bomb. They have great European beer varieties as well. I like that it feels like you're in a London pub in the eating area, it's dark in there but it's a mood. All the servers/bartenders are friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend! read more

Man, another place that I kept meaning to try out and wish I did sooner. I used to drive up to LA to go to Wurstkuche and it's the same vibe here. And it's just a few miles from me. So as one would expect it's all about sausage here with a wide variety of flavors and styles. There's even vegetarian ones so no one is left out. To accompany then they have 3 times cooked Belgian fries with a variety of sauces. In the back of the house is the bar area featuring German and Belgian beers. Juan greeted me and made me feel right at home as a first timer. I will be back sooner than later. read more

The sausages are always so amazing ! Any spicy sausages/ones with paprika have a good amount of heat to it ! My fav so far is the duck and cilantro. It's good that they have other exotic options (snake, rabbit, alligators) which it's not common to find in the area ! THE BEST FRIES EVER ! Always come out so hot and fresh ! Been here a couple of times and will def be back for more ! Ambiance: might get dark. Service: nothing to complain :) read more

Located in downtown Santa Ana, this is a gem of a place. After taking your order in the front, you find yourself in a dim lit bar/speak-easy dining area. There is music playing in the back and a huge assortment of beers to choose from. The food is AMAZING. There are so many options to choose from but the sausages we had all were packed with flavor and smokiness. They let you choose what condiments you want on the side and a choice between a normal bun and a pretzel bun(my favorite). There is also multiple types of mustards to enjoy with the meal laid on the tables. The pretzel is to die for and has the perfect amount of salt on it. I recommend adding the beer cheese sauce and is completely worth it. The drinks rotate every three days and are handpicked by their staff. The staff was very friendly, talkative, and knowledgeable on the drink. I recommend checking Wursthaus out if you are nearby. read more

Wow. What an experience. Came in on Wednesday night and ordered at the front. The had trivia starting in the back but unfortunately we had a movie to catch. The order was supposed to be duck sausage on the fries and cheddar jalapeño sausage on the bun but the kitchen flipped it around. I took one bite into the sausage that was supposed to be cheddar jalapeño and hated it, my boyfriend bit into and loved it and finished it for me....i only hated it because it was duck and I'm not a fan. By the time I realized they had flipped it, he had eaten both sausages, no harm tho because the pretzel was to die for. Big pieces of salt with the beer cheese...yummy. I'm still thinking about it the next day. We had the greatest service at the bar by Karla. She was super patient with us while my boyfriend asked a million questions (he thinks he's a beer snob) and I had a great glass of rose. I did try the strawberry beer which I liked more than I thought I would. We will be back on a Wednesday again to play trivia and hopefully have another great experience with Karla. read more

Food - wursters? Haha, think of anything sausage or links based and definitely an experience to have. Besides the namesakes like the brats, sausages, dogs, they also have Bison and one other rather exotic meat in their menu. They also have beers and maybe other libations. We enjoyed the sampler we had here and would definitely come back. Service - friendly and insightful. Ambiance - when you walk in here, it looks like a small frontage and joint. Lo and behold, the back room where you would eat. It's kinda cool!!! Dimly lit like a German pub haus or something. Verdict - a must try! read more

Yes!! I would say that this is definitely a good place to bring kids!

Hello! Yes. Wursthaus usually plays whatever major sports are happening at that time, including hockey.
At what time does the kitchen close?
Sunday through Thursday it's open from 11AM-Midnight; Friday & Saturday it's opened from 11AM-2AM; holidays may affect these hours, so just call ahead
Are there games here?
They do carry some games! Just ask the bartender about it when you go in :)

It's not that kind of place. You just go in, order, and grab a seat.
Can you bring dogs here?
Hello, they do allow dogs here. As long as they are people friendly, and aren't afraid of noise. Best time to bring your doggy friend would be from 1-5pm.
