My go to order is still the chicken and gyro platter combo, mixed with barbecue and white sauce. It is seriously amazing and the gyro is still one of my favorites anywhere. The portions are solid and the flavors always hit. The only downside is the fries used to be better, I really miss the seasoning they had before. They are still fine and we keep ordering them, but I do wish they had a bit more flavor like they used to. Another small bummer is that there tends to be a noticeable homeless presence outside near the Starbucks, which has become pretty normal for the area. That said, they generally do not seem dangerous, which I do appreciate. Overall, this remains one of our go to spots. I just finished eating lunch at Halal Guys for the first time earlier today, 4/30. We stopped by at around 1:15 PM for lunch. Surprisingly I've heard so much about Halal Guys, but have never tried the food. I ordered the Regular Platter with Beef Gyro $15.95 price as of April 2026 (not including tax). This platter is served with protein of your choice, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes along with your choice of toppings and their famous white and hot sauce. Note, there is also an additional charge of $1 for hummus. The toppings I got were jalapenos, and I ended up just getting the white sauce. It also comes with a few slices of pita, which were a little dry. I asked for additional white sauce on the side, but unfortunately, I was charged an additional $0.60 (so just be mindful that sauce on the side is not free lol). The meal was decent, pretty tasty, not too salty, but not my favorite. I should have asked for even more white sauce on my actual platter, since the sauce and side sauce were actually not enough for me haha. Parking: Located in a busy lot. We were able to get a parking spot close to the shop. We won't be returning. Prices have gone up astronomically, yet somehow the portions have gone down. It's hard to justify paying significantly more for plates that feel noticeably skimpy compared to what they used to be. To make matters worse, my husband went to order combo plates and was told they were out of chicken and that it would be a 10-minute wait. He went ahead and ordered anyway--only for them to bring out a full tray of freshly cooked chicken from the back no more than three minutes later, after our meals were already packaged. That felt frustrating and careless. Service is always bare-minimum. Between the inflated prices, reduced portions, and poor handling of orders, the value just isn't there anymore. I also came here when I was an EMT in this city with my partner in the ambulance. What times. This concept of Halal guys were so interesting to study from watching youtube of the carts in New York, I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised by efficiency of establishment as the ordering is like Chipotle, except it's very streamlined. The service is efficient when they ask you things. The ambiance of this store is tiny. I always go for the mixed proteins of Gyro and Chicken with onions. Mixing it together with the white sauce and a touch of red sauce and BBQ, it becomes umami in my palate. The orange rice, which initially looked off putting, became succulent when mixed with the tomatoes, onions, and salad with the meats. The portion size is huge -- enough to eat for 2 servings. Watch out for the red sauce though... it is extremely spicy. Just get a dash of this. However, recently, they switched their covers from clear to the thin aluminum covers, which I didn't like. Also, with taxes, it is about 17-18 dollars! It is expensive, hence I only come here maybe twice a year? Anyways, I recommend this place for the food and flavor. Another Long Beach letdown. My food showed up ice cold, wrapped in tinfoil, and the meat was chopped so poorly it honestly looked like dog food. I had high hopes for this place, but this was beyond disappointing. Usually when you think of a gyro, you think of that big spinning rotisserie where they slice the meat fresh right off. We have been going to Halal guys since they've opened and used to love this place. It used to have fast, fresh, good food with kind employees . The last year or so we've noticed some days the flavors hit and some days not at all. My husband asked for this to be ordered when family came over to celebrate his birthday. We ordered several family meals with chicken and beef. What we received was only the chicken, no beef. This was a problem since we had people who are not able to eat chicken. Then when we opened the lettuce, it was clearly brown, old and wilted all over in all containers. The pita pieces were hard and stale, and seemed to be less than what you normally receive. Since the food came after our guests arrived, I had no time to go back and get them to try to correct the situation and had to use what I had from home to make up for the terrible product we received and lack of beef. I called in and a female employee was nice but never apologized and said we could have credit for the family meals. Before the end of the call, she mentioned I would have to redeem this within the next month. This event happened the end of November so I figured before New Year I would need to redeem. With the holidays and travel , not to mention not being excited about eating it because of the poor quality the last time, we were not able to use this early on in the month. We were home and had guests visiting the week between Christmas and New Year so we figured that would be a good time to try again. When I called the man who answered the phone, said he would go back and check and said there was nothing on the board noting any of this. He also mentioned that they only honor this 30 days from the day of the original order. He went on to say at the 30 day point they rip up the paper and throw it away so there is no record kept. First. I was not told 30 days., I was told to use this within the next month, which I assumed to be December. Next, the man on the phone was not kind in anyway, very blunt and short with me and said there was nothing he could do to help mess he rushed to get off the call. I asked to speak to the female employee and he said she would not be working for another week. We will not be taking our business here anymore and share our experience with everyone we know. There are many places to eat in Long Beach, when you are serving large amounts of spoiled food and do not stand by your word to make things right you have lost customers. If you like to gamble on the quality of your food and don't mind poor customer service then Halal Guys might be the place for you. read more

Definitely improved over the years. Selections are fresher and tastier. Combo platters are good. Regular size is good for two people, unless you can eat a lot. Prices are reasonable. Their rewards app is good too. Point do accumulate fast so you will have reward asap. The only bad thing is that the points do expire so make sure you scan your receipt every time for points. Service is good. Friendly staff and line moves quick. Parking is good as long as you don't try to park closest to the entrance as it's always busy. For me, this is one of the better Halal Guys locations. Highlights: - They give you a LOT of food in your platters here. Some other nameless locations will be stingy on the rice and veggies, but this place gives you plenty. On my most recent trip here, the regular platter ended up being 2.5 meals for me and my SO. - They provided extra white sauce and hot sauce when asked - no hassling me for additional payment. - If there is a line, it moves pretty fast. - Parking is OK, can be a bit challenging - if you go further down towards the grocery store you should be able to find a spot more easily. read more
