Welcome to Long Beach Urbane Cafe! Wait, can I actually say that when they already had a location in Long Beach? Okay, how about this? You can never have too many Urbane Cafes, especially in Long Beach! Better! Long Beach's second Urbane Cafe location has now opened at Bixby Village Center on the southeast corner of 7th and Bellflower. It's in the same plaza as Target, but it's in the northwest part of the center where CVS used to be. The building that used to house CVS has since been demolished to pave way for four brand new eateries: California Fish Grill, Urbane Cafe, Luna Grill, and The Melt. Having been to 2 other Urbane Cafe grand openings in LA County, including the other Long Beach location at Long Beach Exchange (LBX), I made it a point to drive 5 miles further than the LBX location to further welcome them to the LBC, again lol. I arrived on Monday of their Grand Opening week, which happened to be their first day, and when I parked my car in the parking lot, I hopped on the Urbane Cafe app to place my order while most everyone else placed their orders inside the cafe. Just like the other four Urbane Cafes I've been to, I always want my first entree to be a salmon entree, and their only salmon entree is the Salmon Bowl as Urbane Cafe recently did away with the Salmon Salad on their menu. However, their ordering platform got a little confusing when they had an option for "No Salmon", but made that specific line item not available. That almost made me think they ran out of salmon and were going to make a salmon bowl without the salmon LOL. They also had options for bowl substitutions: Sub Roasted Tofu and Sub Portobello. However, it's not clear to me if that's intended to sub out the salmon or some other ingredient like the sweet potatoes? Hopefully they make that a little more clear in the future. As soon as I left my car, I passed by their catering van and headed towards the front of the cafe where they had an EZ Up. At the other grand openings, they would normally have a welcome table, but because of how the front was set up with the barricades surrounding the outdoor patio, it would have been hard to accommodate for such a table. I'm also burying this in my review, but there's a hot tip that I've chosen to withhold from this review. If you want to know and are reading this on or before May 24, 2026, feel free to send me a message. As soon as I came in, I was met by a couple of employees standing between the order kiosks and the front door. One of them (Maricel?) was willing to assist me, and I told her I had ordered online while showing her my email receipt. She went to the back to inform the kitchen staff of my arrival and let me know they were still working on my order. I had arrived a couple minutes after I placed my order, and the app had estimated a 15-minute wait for my Salmon Bowl. No joke, but they were able to take the '1' out of the estimated wait time; I only had enough time to grab a cookie sample on the pickup shelves and a cup of water! An employee handed me my takeout bag with a smile before I could get a small cup each of Sriracha and Cholula sauce by the drink dispensers. How was the Salmon Bowl? It was good. How good? About San Marcos good, but much less than Oceanside good, IYKYK. The salmon itself had good flavor, but the rice couldn't compete. A part of me thinks that when I arrived, the kitchen crew went, "Oh crap! Derek's here! We better finish his bowl ASAP so he doesn't have to wait too long!" I would have been willing to wait the extra 10 minutes if it meant a more flavorful bowl, but given that they're just trying to find their footing on their first day, I can definitely let that slide. The taste of the other ingredients met my expectations, especially when I added the Sriracha and Cholula sauces. I saw an employee routinely wiping down tables after each use, and she even had the courtesy to ask me how I enjoyed my meal. Appreciated that, even though I was trying to handle the heat from the hot sauces; the salmon bowl was lacking in flavor, and I overcompensated with too much hot sauce lol. But that focaccia bread that supplemented my Salmon Bowl? Wow, it was the most flavorful I've had thus far! Last year, I had focaccia bread that was completely bland that I think they omitted brushing the oil on top, but here, they didn't skip a beat by their hearth oven. They had samples of mini chocolate chip cookies that they were being liberal with; one of the employees even gave another customer a bunch so she could share with her family. If you haven't had their chocolate chip cookies, you're seriously missing out! I even had to get a second before I left, and another employee even offered cookies to dine-in customers. For the Salmon Bowl itself, I would have given 4 stars, but I'm willing to give them 5 in this review for hitting the ground running on their first day. Keep up the great work, and again, welcome to the LBC!

First time in this place. Shout-out to Michelle! She was very helpful with the food selection. My order was with avocado on the steak chimichurri steak with sauce on the side. It was amazing! The ambiance was good and clean for the extra star. Will be back for sure!

Yummy and healthy options including sandwiches, salads, and bowls. Ordered a Mediterranean bowl and it was very yummy and nutritious! Portion size was perfect I was quite full after. The chicken was also great texture and not dry. They also gave a complimentary cookie which was sweet as one of our dishes took a while to come out. Chocolate chip cookie was fresh and gooey!

I have been to the location at LBX before and heard about the opening of this newer location due to their healthcare worker appreciation event. Thank you for supporting and appreciating us healthcare workers! Ordering ahead on the app for a scheduled pick up was super easy and efficient as both my sister's and my order were ready upon arrival. Since it was a busy day and it being conveniently located right across the VA hospital for other healthcare workers, there were plenty of orders on the shelf for pick up. Because of this, the staff were there to help find orders in an efficient manner for anyone picking up. For our entrees, we got the chimichurri steak sandwiches with a side of salad and my sister added on a cranberry white chocolate cookie. Everything was delicious and consistent with the other location despite this one just opening recently.

Hello to my new favorite spot Just so happened to discover this gem on their very first day and they are already crushing it. Friendly team, incredible variety of delicious food options, and welcoming ambiance. I got the steak chimichurri sandy with a side salad and IM IN AWE. Fresh, flavors are poppin, and solid portions. Very happy and excited to try more

BBQ tri tip was good. Sandwiches came with a side salad.

This location just opened less than a week ago. Here's my first impression (note: I've only had Urbane Cafe once before - and it was catering). The location is at the Bellflower end of Bixby Village Plaza. It's a new addition, along with California Fish Grill, and the yet-to-come Luna Grill and The Melt. We had seen a family special online for 2 sandwiches, one salad, and four cookies. We asked for that when we walked in and learned it was only available online. We decided to get two sandwiches and a salad, which came out to about the same as the online special (we just didn't get the cookies with it). Every one who was working there was very nice. The restaurant is brand new, with plenty of seating. I definitely see this as being a viable weeknight option for us since the sandwiches and salads don't feel so heavy and there's an assortment to choose from. We chose the BBQ tri tip, Cranberry Brie, and Cilantro Chicken salad. We didn't eat the salad because we were full from the sandwiches so I can't say too much, although the few bites I tried didn't stand out. The cranberry brie was good, and my husband, who doesn't usually like bbq sauce enjoyed the tri trip even though it did have bbq sauce, so that's saying something! The manager came by and asked how everything was and gave us some mini chocolate chip cookies in honor of the opening, which was very nice. The most memorable, though, was Tori, who was super friendly and even gave us two warm cookies at the end after we had to pivot from the family meal! That friendly and thoughtful service takes this place to five stars for me.

One of the highlights is their Thai tea, which is served with a popsicle and seems to be one of their most popular items for good reason. It's fun, unique, and absolutely delicious. Another unexpected favorite was the wings. I'm usually not a big wings person, but these were surprisingly good--crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. The beef itself was a little chewy and in large pieces. I prefer the meat to be cut a little smaller and would like more lettuce and cucumber. I got a little taste of the spicy fried rice, which was really good. Some of us ordered Thai tea and didn't expect what we received, which was the tea with a Thai tea popsicle. What a treat! The Thai tea itself was pretty standard, but that popsicle was like the icing on a cake. The places, modern and clean. Staff is helpful and nice. So, I found this S T Noodle Bar near by and decided to give it a try. I kinda know what there guys like to eat, so I just ordered a bunch of food. The only request from anybody was for Pad Thai, the most common dish at all Thai restaurants. I GPS my way over and order the food. I was Khao Soy on the menu and I don't see that at too many Thai places that I've been to, so I got an order of that with chicken. Of course, an order of Pad Thai, 2 orders since I have 5 hungry people to feed. Also, I ordered the Thai coconut soup, I think it's called Tom Kha with chicken. One more noodles dish was the Drunken Noodles, it's kinda like Chinese Chow Fun, but has a more spicy flavor and basil in it. The food was all pack and bagged for me to take back to the hotel. We used my room since I have a bigger room. We had plates and set ups for all five of us and we re-plated the food on the serving plates that came with the room. All the food was really tasty and everybody was happy not to have to leave the hotel. I heard compliments on the Pad Thai and the Coconut soup. It was a good idea just to do take out and eat at the hotel here.

We were greeted and helped right away and got a place in the restaurant that fit us well. We ordered the veggie spring roll, tofu soup, beef pad thai and tom yum. The veggie spring roll tasted fresh and the sauce added a nice layer of flavor. Off the bat, the portion sizes for the tom yum and pad thai were VERY generous (from my experiences with Thai restaurants). The pad thai stood out and was absolutely delicious! The service did great with helping us out and attending to our requests. The ambiance was relaxed, and where we sat in the back was cool because there was upbeat music playing loud enough to muffle the surrounding sounds but still soft enough to have conversation at our table without needing to raise our voice. Overall, I'm glad I gave S T Noodle Bar a try! I'd recommend it!

We ordered the thai papaya salad, khao soi with beef, thai ice tea, and pork belly with khao soi curry. The food came out extremely fast! The papaya salad was nice and tangy, it came with two pieces of shrimp, definitely could've come with more but it was delicious overall, 7/10. The khao soi was delicious as well, but there was a very small amount of meat for the price and the taste didn't blow me away, 6/10. The pork belly was juicy and crispy! They gave a lot of pork and rice, I think it was worth the price of $25.95, 8/10. The thai ice tea was solid as well. Overall, this place is a bit pricey, we paid $91 for 2 people after tax and tip, but the portion sizes were good, we could barely finish everything.
