There are always people in line waiting, so we decided to try it out. Ordered the food via their website, which was very easy to use and allowed customization of food items. They also have self ordering kiosks at the counter. Ordered two carmelized steak salads and miso salmon salad. One carmelized steak salad was ordered as is (without modifications) and the other was modified; both were delicious. The salmon salad was also yummy but I modified it from the menu by adding more toppings. The modifications added more to the cost, which I probably won't do again if I return.

One of my Yelp friends told me about their soft opening on Eventbrite, and so I signed up twice. Wait, twice? Yes, they actually had two separate events for soft opening weekends, and since I didn't know which was the correct weekend, I simply signed up to attend both, being aware that one of them was going to have to drop. When I emailed their customer support team, they mentioned that the correct soft opening weekend was the earlier one, but also recommended to keep the later RSVP in case the soft opening date got pushed to the right. Guess what? The soft opening date got pushed to the following weekend, and so that necessitated the earlier event to be canceled on Eventbrite. Luckily, I retained both RSVPs in case the first one fell through, which it did, so I was still able to attend the soft opening weekend after all. Sweetgreen recently opened in Long Beach Marketplace close to where Trader Joe's and Wild Fork are. If you recall where J's Cleaners and the Verizon Wireless store were, that's where Sweetgreen is now. The soft opening happened between 12 and 6 PM on the Friday and Saturday preceding the grand opening date. VIPs who RSVPed for one of the 15-minute time slots were entitled to a complimentary entree to celebrate Sweetgreen's first location in the LBC. I wasn't sure if I'd make it for lunch, but I knew I'd be able to make it for dinner, so I chose the last time slot of 5:45 to 6 PM on Saturday. I actually arrived at about 5:30 PM, but Simon at the front said it was no problem that I was early as he scanned my Eventbrite ticket to confirm my attendance for the soft opening. They were also giving out samples of their bread, which I grabbed one before entering. With so many customers inside to claim their complimentary entrees, I made the mistake of waiting on the left hand side where others were waiting for their orders, but I hadn't made mine yet! After a couple minutes of waiting, I noticed a sign that directed me to the self-order kiosks on the other side of the restaurant. That's where I went, and Martin was there to help. Martin was very helpful. He and Simon explained that for the soft opening, modifications weren't allowed, but I still wanted to at least see the comprehensive ingredients list on the kiosk. I knew I wanted the Caramelized Garlic Steak, a protein plate, and I'll shamefully admit it was because it's the most expensive entree on their menu lol. When I browsed the ingredients, I thought I was supposed to choose my base, which I would have wanted half & half of wild rice & quinoa. However, Martin pointed out that would have counted as a modification. Oops! But luckily, he made it happen for me, though it wasn't intuitive for me to understand how to change the 2 servings of wild rice to 1 serving each of the wild rice and quinoa. Not wanting to bend any more rules, I simply skimmed through the ingredients and hit continue. Then, I was asked how many cups of pesto vinaigrette would I like: 1, 2, or 3? I still wouldn't have to pay one way or the other or even that other, so I went with 3. For the soft opening, customers were instructed to "pay with cash", but the meal was really on the house. It only took about 2 minutes before my name was called, and an employee slid my Caramelized Garlic Steak plate to me. However, I didn't get a bag, so I had to ask for a bag; when I visited the Torrance location a week prior, I was given a bag after paying. They didn't have many tables inside or outside, and they were all occupied, so I had no choice but to enjoy my meal in my car. The Caramelized Garlic Steak was quite fresh and healthy, but also quite dry/bland that the sauces were an absolute must! The beef was slightly tough to chew, but only a minor nuisance at best. I definitely enjoyed the Caramelized Garlic Steak overall, but it's a bit pricey at $19. Rest assured, their ingredients are of good quality! Also, I found the bump ticket to be hilariously anachronistic by recommending that I consume my meal precisely 2 hours and 15 minutes before I placed my order. How exactly would I do that?! lol I came back a second time the following month and had the Chicken Avocado Ranch for $10, which was a rewards exclusive for that month. Quite delish! However, I hate how I have immense trouble removing and replacing the lids on their compostable bowls, so you need to be real careful so as to not spill any food on the table or even in your car! Thank you and congrats Sweetgreen on opening your first location in Long Beach! I had a hard time deciding between 4 and 5 for this one. It was a solid 9 out of 10, but I think it's slightly closer to 8 than 10. Next time I get asked for a recommendation on healthy eats that won't break the bank, I'm pointing the inquirer to Sweetgreen. And if you've managed to read the entire review, I'll let you know that new SG rewards members can get $5 off their first purchase, but you may have to email their customer support team first like I did.

    Chicken cesar wrap. Amazinggg
    Mayra F.

The wrap was bomb! Super flavorful, juicy chicken and crisp lettuce with plenty of parm. I didn't eat it right away so my croutons were no longer crunchy or else I would give it 11/10. The tortilla was also really good - chewy, perfect size and whoever wrapped it did a perfect job. I love Cesar wraps and this was one of the best ones I've had! Sweet greens continues to impress me. Try this one, you won't regret it. I ordered online for pick up and it was ready within 15mins. Excelente! This location is close to the beach so pick it up and enjoy near the waves c:

    Bandaid in salad

I honestly don't even know how to process what just happened. My best friend was raving about this Sweetgreen in Long Beach so we came in excited to try it, expecting something fresh, clean and healthy. Within minutes of sitting down that excitement turned into complete disgust when my friend found a used Band Aid with visible blood inside his salad. I am not exaggerating, this was a literal bloody bandage mixed into the food. It is honestly disturbing to even type this out. This is not a small mistake, this is a serious health and safety issue. It immediately made us question everything about how food is handled here. Are they even using gloves? Are basic hygiene standards being followed? Because there is absolutely no reason a Band Aid should ever end up in someone's food. Ever. What made it even worse was how it was handled. We brought it to the cashier right away expecting urgency, concern, anything that showed they understood how serious this was. Instead the response felt completely dismissive. The employee with the orange bandana whose Band Aid clearly fell into the food did not even apologize. He literally shrugged his shoulders like it was normal. Like what??? That alone was insane to me. No urgency, no concern, nothing. No manager stepped in, no one took accountability, no refund was offered. They just offered to remake the bowl and gave us a free lemonade. A lemonade??? Seriously??? That is all you thought this situation was worth??? There was a bloody Band Aid in the food and you think a lemonade fixes that??? If my friend did not notice and actually ate it that could have been extremely dangerous. The fact that this was handled so casually is honestly what makes it worse. This is not just bad service, this is a complete failure in food safety and management. I will be contacting corporate about this because this needs to be addressed. This is unacceptable on every level. I am beyond disappointed and honestly just disgusted. I would not trust this location again.

    Steak protein bowl
    Jennifer N.

I love Sweetgreen! It tastes delicious and the food is so clean and healthy. My usual order is the miso glazed salmon and wild rice, and the steak protein bowl. You are allowed to add a fee sides and toppings to it. The staffs, Simon and Alex was extra helpful and patience to serve us. Im so happy they open a location here in Long Beach. Plenty of parking, inside the Trader Joe's shopping center and behind Trader Joe's.

The amount of food is amazing. First of all, you can customize your plate, which is much healthier compared to other places. They also have plates that are already made if you prefer something quick. Since this place just opened, it's still very clean both inside and outside. Everyone is helpful and friendly. I love the outdoor seating--you can sit and chit-chat with your friends. It's a great spot for a quick bite to eat and to relax with friends while enjoying good-quality food.

Food was 5/5: the steak and chicken salad was delicious. First time here and will definitely be coming back. It's very pricey though. Service: was great, staff were very friendly. Ambiance: cute simple modern salad cafe.

    Interior
    Paul L.

I really love the modern interior here: sleek wood finishes, an open‑kitchen concept, and plenty of natural sunlight that brightens the entire space. This was my first visit to Sweetgreen, and unlike Chipotle, all orders are placed through a kiosk. The kitchen looked spotless and felt calm, not rushed or chaotic like similar fast‑casual spots. I ordered a custom bowl, and the presentation was clean, vibrant, and fresh. I tried to maximize the ingredients without turning it into a hodgepodge, and everything came together nicely. With the blackened chicken, the final price was comparable to ordering a steak bowl at Chipotle. What stood out most were the fresh ingredients and the endless combinations you can create. While I enjoyed the meal, it is definitely on the pricier side for fast casual. Still, I'd choose this place over a typical sit‑down restaurant that just happens to offer a salad on the menu.

    Miriah S.

Ordered on the app, my salad was ready for pick up pretty quickly and prepared with the right modifications, but the presentation was not it. Super fresh ingredients though.

    Lina L.

Nice new place. The salads are delicious and very filling. Quality products, people say they're a bit pricey, but I feel like it's worth it and appropriately priced. Eating an entire salad had me full for most of my day, and that was without protein. Love love love the pesto vinaigrette. Everything is fresh, healthy and delicious, plus you can customize it how you want it.

welcome to LB sweetgreen!! located in the marketplace on pch & 2nd, btw tj's and wild fork this sweetgreen location is spacious, inviting and a little patio for some al fresco dining :D super friendly and eager staff during my visit i love the customizations on the bowls a bit pricey but def worth it bc the portions are actually pretty large. healthy, fresh and gorgeous looking food :D the menu is a bit overwhelming if you are new to sweetgreen but you got this. everything is delicious! my fave is the chicken pesto parm with golden quinoa toppings: garlic breadcrumbs, spicy broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes premium: antibiotic-free roasted chicken and antibiotic-free miso glazed salmon dressing: pesto vinaigrette and green goddess ranch (FAVORITE) parking: no issues. tons of parking, just park away from tj's lol, park over by wild fork.

    Miso Glazed Salmon

This was my second time at sweet green and I ordered two of the "protein" plates. For something that's marketed as a protein packed meal, there was literally a puny scoop of steak and a mini strip of salmon. Once I got home I had to add more meat to it. Literally most of it was rice. For $15-20 per bowl I'm incredibly disappointed. Sure the food tastes good but I do not plan on going back, not really worth it.

Tried this place twice and it's pretty solid so far. The only comment kinda negative is the fish was pretty dry, however, I will definitely plan to come back and try other items!
