Nasty.

Very disappointed with this salad. The lettuce was clearly not fresh--it was brown, wilted, and looked old. I also noticed what appears to be a small bug/insect on one of the leaves, which is extremely concerning. Food safety should be a priority, especially when serving food to families and children. I would not feel comfortable eating this or serving it to my kids. I expected much better quality and freshness. Please do better with food preparation and quality control.

I wanted to leave a review during the first week California Fish Grill opened, but their Yelp page wasn't available yet. I didn't forget to come back because they truly did an amazing job with both my food and the customer service! The gentleman in the photo greeted us with a warm smile and was incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean, parking was easy, the ambience is very nice and a little more upgraded from the other location. and the food was delicious. My favorite thing to order is the Cajun salmon and shrimp, but I'm excited to try some new items on the menu next time. I will definitely be back soon. 10/10 experience!

Walk up counter

You walk up and have the option to order from the kiosk on your own or order from the folks at the counter. I chose the kiosk because apparently I'm 5 years old and need pictures. I got the 2 lobster rolls and swapped the fries for tomatoes with feta and olive oil...trrrrying to be a tad healthier. the lobster meat was mild and consisted mainly a lot of little pieces. It was served on a buttery piece of thick toasted bread. The tomato side was really good. Vibe is a bit cramped and loud...not conducive to hanging out very long.

Taco Tuesday not so appetizing with significant amount of oily sauce

Taco Tuesday not so appetizing with significant amount of oily sauce (?) at the bottom of container that my tacos are swimming in :( couldn't pick up my 2nd taco because tortilla was saturated. What a mess and not in a good way.

First time at a California Fish Grill at this new location! Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, wasn't too busy at all. Love the reasonable prices for a non-fast food option. My husband and I split the Cajun Swai Plate with white rice and fire roasted sweet corn. It was on the "Most Popular" section of the menu, so we thought it'd be a good choice for our first time. And we were right! The fish, rice, and corn were all well cooked and seasoned. The Cajun sauce wasn't bad, but we'll probably get a less strong sauce on our next plate because we wished we could've tasted more of the fish itself, as it was delicious. Like others have mentioned, you place your order at a kiosk and get a text when your order is ready, but the customer service was still great. While sitting at an outdoor table waiting for our food (plentiful 2 and 4-top outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade), an employee came out to clear a nearby table and asked if we were okay or needed anything. Unexpected considering we hadn't gotten our food yet, but great customer service practice to always acknowledge nearby customers. The overall ambiance is fast casual, but still feels clean and tasteful. So glad we decided to try this place today; we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Recently opened Californua Fish Grill. Scalewise much smaller then the standard size one but ample seating inside and outside. Itxs set up with Kiosks at the counter for self-irdering or you can order on the app. There are also people behind the counter if you need help. You put your name in and when your order is ready, they call your name (and also a text if you have the app). The food all came out on real plates with real flatware. Very nice touch! Service was very friendly and helpful. The offered us cups for ice water while we waited. It didn't take long for our orders to come out. We ordered two plates. Lobster Roll plate came with two smaller sized rolls and fries. The Fish Tacos plate came with a drink and two sided. For $0.99 I upgraded the sidesto have salads, one Caesar and the ither Green. Salads were very good sized and we ended up taking them to go. Lots of options for sides! Lobster rools were good and the fish tacos were very good. With the lobster rolls you had the option to order butter or garlic butter to go with. We shared the dishes so we each had a taco and lobster roll. Perfect amount of food (with the salads to go). Nice to have a California Fish Grill close to home.

Every time I'm at work, this is our go-to place to order food from! I'd never actually visited in person before, but the place looks amazing. I'm so glad there's now a location closer to us! It's also one of Mom's favorite places to eat. This was my first time ordering a poke bowl, and I would definitely order it again!

Fish and Chips 2 piece meal with Kale Slaw

I'm a big fan of CFG! I've loved their fish and chips plate for many years. Until today.... A new location opened close to my home, so I went to have my favorite meal. Oh no! They no longer use cod, but have switched to a Swai filet. (This is a farmed frozen fish from Southeast Asia, similar to Talapia.) I do not prefer farmed fish! I'm sure the change is an economic choice, but I did notice a modest price increase. One of the reasons I loved CFG was that they used fresh wild caught fish. They have also gone to a fast casual format....order at a kiosk, pick up at the counter when your order is ready. (Formerly a customer service representative took your order and it was delivered to you when ready) The store itself is attractive, well lit, with indoor and outdoor dining. The staff is pleasant and friendly. If I return, I will carefully choose menu items with fish wild caught.

I was excited to see that a new fish location opened up nearby -- I've been sad ever since the fish place in Marina Pacifica closed. You can order at the kiosk or register. They had a worker answering questions at the kiosk, and all the workers were really friendly. We got the poke bowl, which lacked a flavor so we added some dynamite sauce. We got several sides with it: sweet potato fries, dynamite fries, Brussels sprouts and fire roasted street corn. We also got the honey citrus shrimp bowl, and the shrimp were delicious. I'm not a fan of their white rice -- I prefer a sticky rice -- so I think next time I'll try brown rice. The sweet potato fries were really good. Next time I'd order the sauce on the side for the dynamite fries. The other two were ok. They serve Pepsi, so we drank water. There are a few tables inside and a bunch of outside seating.

17 bucks for a trash piece of fish. Was not filling at all. Slopped together. This is the product they are putting out for their customers. Never coming back.

They just opened up this restaurant so we decided to try it. You walk in and you self order on a screen. I got the poke bowl and my boyfriend got the fish n chips. Both of them were very delicious! Food was good quality. We sat outside and it was nice but a bit windy. Overall, I would definitely come back!

Lol 2 of what was 3 pieces of fish. White rice with garlic butter & rosemary zucchini yummm!!!

Very helpful staff using the kiosk. Didn't wait for me to ask for help. Food cooked fresh. 3 piece fish with rice & garlic butter sauce and zucchini. Abigail checked on me several times in the dining room, which caught me off guard, wasn't used to that in a self serve environment. Very attentive & friendly. Restaurant was clean. Whoever hired these workers did a great job.

They had 2 ordering options either by a kiosk or at the counter. Counter ordering was ideal for me as a first time guest. I was able to sample some meats and beverages which was helpful in deciding my order. The best drinks were the Horchata and Watermelon. 2 of us ordering meant we each chose one and shared. As for food, my go to is always a burrito. I thought it was really good, especially the homemade tortilla. It was the perfect amount for me, even providing 1/2 as leftovers. It exceeded my expectionations.

About two years ago, I regularly visited this place every Friday and occasionally on Saturdays,…read moredespite the roughly 20-mile drive from my home. At the time, I enjoyed the food and considered the drive worthwhile. However, after the restaurant changed cooks, I noticed a decline in the overall quality and stopped returning. Today, I decided to give it another try and stopped by for a small bite. I ordered the vampiro, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The meat lacked noticeable seasoning or flavor, which was particularly disappointing given the restaurant's claim of cooking with mesquite coals. The tortilla topping also appeared to be more like a pre-made tostada than a tortilla toasted over an open flame. Traditionally, I would expect a lightly charred tortilla, which adds flavor and texture to the dish. Based on this visit, the quality has not returned to what I remember from two years ago. I was disappointed with the food and do not plan to come back to this location or any other for that matter.

El Sauz is THE late-night munchies spot!…read more I've been coming here for years, and one of the things I love most is that they're open late. I've ordered food here as late as 2:30 AM! They have a sit-down restaurant, a karaoke room, and even a walk-up window outside if you're just looking to grab something quickly. They're known for their tacos and their spicy habanero salsa, which definitely is spicy, be warned. LOL If you're dining inside, the chips and salsa are top-tier. Sooooo good and addicting! My personal favorite is the shrimp quesadillas. They're tiny, but mighty when it comes to flavor! I also like ordering their oysters. So far, they've always been clean, fresh, and hit the spot. They also have Micheladas, both the traditional version made with alcohol and a non-alcoholic version made with mineral water. Both are really good, and I highly recommend giving them a try! And for dessert, the rice pudding is served cold, and it's honestly one of the best I've had. Everyone I've brought here has been happy with their food and their choices, which says a lot because I've brought many friends and family here. As far as parking goes, you can usually find street parking, there's a parking lot, and there's also parking behind the restaurant. I will say the neighborhood is a little sketchy, but if you're local, it's really not a big deal. If you're coming from outside the city and aren't familiar with the area, I'd recommend just dining inside. There's a lot of homeless and liquor store activities across the street. It's usually not a big deal, but again if you're not used to it, you may freak out. Overall, El Sauz is one of my go-to spots for the late-night munchies, post concert, club, bar etc.

Del Real Foods Birria is premade birria that tastes better than this, and you can buy it along with…read morea premade bag of diced onions and tortillas from almost any grocery store. We were so excited to try this place but left very disappointed. It was about $2.7 per taco considering 6 tacos were $16.5. So yeah, given the price, there are higher quality options locally. These unfortunately were crunchy, chewy, premade tortillas, cheese not grilled in properly, birria and chicken so dry and stringy and also tasted premade (you can tell when the meat doesn't retain the juice and is dry, and the flavor is stale), and pickled vegetables that somehow didn't taste pickled. The other problem was the portion of the consomé size, which was way too small. The best thing was the grilled onions and consomé because you literally can't possibly fk that up. Although the consomé was a bit too gravy-like, and thick which considering the quality of everything else...was off putting. Ambiance felt fast paced, cramped parking, and a little dirty from being dated but it also had a fun, casual nightlife vibe. The service was fast and kind. They answered questions quick and politely without rushing us out of line. We had really high hopes for this place. This was not a first time either, we tried these guys years ago but even then it was mid. Now it just confirmed it. We do not recommend coming here unless you are craving tacos you can't make at home with premade ingredients, or find at another restaurant.
