Guisados has a special place in my heart. When I worked in Boyle heights, it was our go to place for lunch so I was pleasantly surprised to find a new guisados in Long Beach, so close to home. The food is always so good! My go to is the sampler to get a little of everything. The cochinita pibil is one of my all time favorites and the mole poblano. Absolutely delicious!! The service here is good. We didn't necessarily have a great experience though. They messed up our order and we never got it fixed. We just happened to be there when there was a big party there too and it seemed like staff was a bit flustered. I told the workers about our order and they just forgot. We waited for over 15 min and when I went up to ask again, they realized they had forgotten about us and hadn't made our correct order so we decided to leave it and just go. Regardless of that hiccup, the staff were very friendly and they were apologetic about the situation. I would come back for sure and give it another try. The Boyle heights location has always been on top of it and I've never experienced a bad visit so I wouldn't say this location is bad off of one visit. The space is small and has inside and outside seating. We tried to eat outside but that bigger party took up a lot of the seats out there. They have a beautiful mural inside too and we luckily got a table. Overall, guisados is a must and I'm happy there's a location closer to me now. read more

I was shopping over by Guisado's and realized it was 2pm and I hadn't eaten lunch yet! So I dropped in for a few tacos and grabbed a tiny table in the corner. I got one steak taco, one chicken and one shrimp. Although it was my favorite, I wish I hadn't eaten the shrimp first because it was spicier than I anticipated! Delicious, but just know it's a tad spicier than the others. The steak and chicken tacos were so full of flavor and SO juicy. Just a simple piece of avocado on top, no filler stuff. This was the perfectly sized lunch for about $17. I just wish they had a couple options for sides, like esquites, or chips and guac or something. Someone came over and took my plate before I had a chance to bring it up myself, so that was nice. Before I left, I washed my hands in the restroom because they were sticky. For a chain taco place the tortillas taste like they made them in the back. I tried the 6 mini taco sampler and substituted the mole taco for the Calabacitas vegetarian taco. They were all delicious and they give you the option to sub out anything but the starred items which are fish and shrimp and vegan tacos. They have two vegan options and 6 vegetarian options. Also good for people with allergies and now they serve beer. I had heard they were really good and they did not disappoint. Have to come back and try the breakfast options they sound great. I'm not sure the picture does it justice but it was quite small. When I took it out of the bag I was pretty surprised (and disappointed) at how puny it looked. The guy helping me was nice and I'm not ruling out going back to try something else but for $10.50 I won't get the burrito again as the price didn't match the size. Guisado opened up a new location by my house a while ago and i finally got to try it again. The food was extremely fresh and lived up the legacy of the original location. The restaurant is a smaller little building but has a nice outdoor patio and a few indoor seating options. The cashier was a great help in us deciding what types of meats to go with, and our food was brought fairly quick given the rush. Our total was about 50$ for just 7 small street tacos and drinks but it was definitely worth it and would go again! read more

I've been a fan of Guisados since they opened their original location on the border of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles in 2010. Since that time, they've expanded to ten locations from Burbank to Beverly Hills to Long Beach. This location in Long Beach is off Redondo and Anaheim. Guisados are slow braised stews and meats. They have a fresh spin on tacos and it's nice to be able to eat the juicy meats in their corn tortillas. For first time visitors, I highly recommend trying the "OG Sampler", which allows you to have 6 bite-sized tacos of their best sellers. You get two beef (steak picado, bistek en salsa roja), two pork (chicarron, cochinita pibil), and two chicken (mole, tinga de pollo). It's the best way to understand what this place is about. They do have several vegetarian friendly options and, if you're vegetarian, then they have a sampler that you can enjoy as well. Occasionally, I'll order their full-sized tacos. My favorites are their cochinita pibil and their tinga de pollo as they're juicy with a little bit of a kick; however, I do enjoy their shrimp fajita taco as well. Prior to their expansion, their east LA/boyle heights location was a five-star experience in 2010. With their expansions, the challenge has always been with being able to transcribe the experience to every location. While the vibe has changed a little, I'm appreciative of the fact that they still have pretty good, stewed meat tacos. I'm glad that I can enjoy this in Long Beach, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants something different than a carne asada taco. read more

Food was delicious. I had a cochinita pibil taco that had me wishing to go back to Yucatán, it was that good. I also had the chuleta taco - pork in chile Verde sauce it was good. The staff is very helpful as it was my first time there. My friend had the 5 taco platter where she sampled different types of meats. I will definitely be back and order the Cochinita Pibil. Love this tacos spot! I always passes by this place since it's in my neighborhood. Decided to visit for lunch by myself. Glad I went during non busy hours because I was able to meet the owner and got served quickly. He kindly explained to me what's in their tacos and which one was his favorite. Super friendly made me comfortable while eating. My personal preference lean towards the Bistek en Salsa Roja consisting of steak, tomatoes, and red peppers. The other one I ordered is the steak Picado. Small tacos for $4.50, but they are packed with meats. I got full from one taco. Very good and didn't disappoint me. The Guisados in Long Beach is definitely a vibe. First off there's parking in front of the restaurant and if they ever ran out- you can park at the grocery/ parking right next to it. How awesome that you can see your chefs cook your fave tacos, the merch is also defined on point. This spot has plenty of seating compared to the OG Guisados for sure. Some tables and some outside seating. We definitely loved the sampler- you get 6 mini tacos of the beef, chicken, pork and veggie flavors for less than $12. We caved and got regular sized tacos after of our faves! Chiccharon, Tinga de pollo, Beef Picado. The chorizo quesadilla was also a hit with my kids and for sure they'll ask for next time. The tostada ceviche is refreshing and good. It is actually one of my faves to get at Guisados. The agua frescas- I always love the Horchata here. This was my first time visiting Guisados in Long Beach, and it was a great introduction to their menu. At the recommendation of the helpful lady at the counter, I went with the taco sampler, which ended up being the perfect choice for a first visit. The food came out quickly and each taco had an impressive depth of flavor. You can really taste the care that goes into the slow cooked fillings and sauces. The server was super helpful in guiding me on what to try and even lit the space heater on the patio, which was a thoughtful touch on a slightly chilly night. Honestly such an underrated spot. I went to their Boyle Heights location years ago, expecting your usual grilled meat taco offerings, only to find out their signature cooking method is to braise their meats. Braising brings out so much more depth and complexity of flavor. They have a taco sampler which is a great introduction into their most well-known menu items. For me, the Cochinita Pibil is literally addictive - the mild still has a good amount of heat, but it's the perfect complement to the sweet pork. The chicken was highly seasoned and tender and the masa was tender and flavorful I would buy this again. 8/10 Pollo Tinga Taco Spicy|Chicken Taco.
