Guisados is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. The tacos might not be the fanciest to look at, but they're packed with flavor and always hit the spot. They remind me of the meals I grew up with, which makes them even more comforting, and they're always ready quickly. The prices are a little higher than your average taco spot, but the freshly made tortillas and rich, homestyle flavors make it worth it every time. I usually order delivery, but on the occasions I've gone in, the staff has been friendly and efficient. I have all the positive words in the world to say about this place. It was so good that the first day I tried it, I went back the very next day for more. Food? Continuing on to finding "thee" breakfast burrito (you can see my last review), this one was much tastier than the last place. The bacon in this burrito was good. My main complaint was the size. I'm not sure the picture does it justice but it was quite small. When I took it out of the bag I was pretty surprised (and disappointed) at how puny it looked. The guy helping me was nice and I'm not ruling out going back to try something else but for $10.50 I won't get the burrito again as the price didn't match the size. Guisado opened up a new location by my house a while ago and i finally got to try it again. The food was extremely fresh and lived up the legacy of the original location. The restaurant is a smaller little building but has a nice outdoor patio and a few indoor seating options. The cashier was a great help in us deciding what types of meats to go with, and our food was brought fairly quick given the rush. Our total was about 50$ for just 7 small street tacos and drinks but it was definitely worth it and would go again! read more

WOW! I have heard of this spot for a while but finally had a chance to come try it out. First off, cozy yet upbeat spot for tacos and burritos. I'd comfortably come here for a business lunch even, if you want something light and casual for the vibe. I ordered the strawberry horchata and it was so very difficult not to chug the entire thing! It's that delicious! Sweet, fresh, creamy and sweet. I even bought the horchata mix to take home because I can't wait to add it to my morning coffees and cocktails. I ordered for food the sampler and customized it (6 mini tacos): 1. Chicharron 2. Mole 3. Cochinita pibil 4. Chuleta 5. Tinga de pollo 6. Calabacitas My personal favorite were Chicharron and chuleta, but they were all amazing and full of flavor! Tacos, Ceviche Tostada, and Horchata Cold Brew were delicious as always. The big let down was the burrito. Lacking a lot of flavor, and definitely smaller than you'd expect when you see the name burrito. Other than that, the restaurant is nice, cool location in Long Beach. Service is great as well, they brought our order to our table and checked in on the food before we left. I've been a fan of Guisados since they opened their original location on the border of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles in 2010. Since that time, they've expanded to ten locations from Burbank to Beverly Hills to Long Beach. This location in Long Beach is off Redondo and Anaheim. Guisados are slow braised stews and meats. They have a fresh spin on tacos and it's nice to be able to eat the juicy meats in their corn tortillas. For first time visitors, I highly recommend trying the "OG Sampler", which allows you to have 6 bite-sized tacos of their best sellers. You get two beef (steak picado, bistek en salsa roja), two pork (chicarron, cochinita pibil), and two chicken (mole, tinga de pollo). It's the best way to understand what this place is about. They do have several vegetarian friendly options and, if you're vegetarian, then they have a sampler that you can enjoy as well. Occasionally, I'll order their full-sized tacos. My favorites are their cochinita pibil and their tinga de pollo as they're juicy with a little bit of a kick; however, I do enjoy their shrimp fajita taco as well. Prior to their expansion, their east LA/boyle heights location was a five-star experience in 2010. With their expansions, the challenge has always been with being able to transcribe the experience to every location. While the vibe has changed a little, I'm appreciative of the fact that they still have pretty good, stewed meat tacos. I'm glad that I can enjoy this in Long Beach, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants something different than a carne asada taco. read more

The Guisados in Long Beach is definitely a vibe. First off there's parking in front of the restaurant and if they ever ran out- you can park at the grocery/ parking right next to it. How awesome that you can see your chefs cook your fave tacos, the merch is also defined on point. This spot has plenty of seating compared to the OG Guisados for sure. Some tables and some outside seating. We definitely loved the sampler- you get 6 mini tacos of the beef, chicken, pork and veggie flavors for less than $12. We caved and got regular sized tacos after of our faves! Chiccharon, Tinga de pollo, Beef Picado. The chorizo quesadilla was also a hit with my kids and for sure they'll ask for next time. The tostada ceviche is refreshing and good. It is actually one of my faves to get at Guisados. The agua frescas- I always love the Horchata here. At the recommendation of the helpful lady at the counter, I went with the taco sampler, which ended up being the perfect choice for a first visit. The food came out quickly and each taco had an impressive depth of flavor. You can really taste the care that goes into the slow cooked fillings and sauces. The server was super helpful in guiding me on what to try and even lit the space heater on the patio, which was a thoughtful touch on a slightly chilly night. I usually stop by the Pasadena spot when I'm nearby, and now I'm a regular at the Long Beach location too. The chicken was highly seasoned and tender and the masa was tender and flavorful I would buy this again. 8/10 Pollo Tinga Taco Spicy|Chicken Taco. Soft and tender corn tortilla flavorful chicken it was very good. 8/10 Veggie Taco A medley of grilled veggies and a drop of salsa verde it was ok and needed a more flavor. 7/10 Pescado Taco -- Fish Taco I didn't like the presentation it was way to messy - the fish lacked flavor had an odd taste and in my opinion was undercooked and spongy not good at all too with much cabbage and whatever that sauce was it wasn't good. 3/10 Side of corn tortillas delicious tender and fresh tasted homemade. 9/10 Habanero Salsa spicy and so good on those tacos and tamale. 10/10 Condiments Crema was bland 2/10 Pico de gallo 8/10 Habanero Salsa - spicy and soo good 10/10 Salsa Verde - creamy and so good. 8/10 It's never personal.. I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and I finally decided to treat myself to a solo date night--and it was absolutely perfect! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and helped right away. The staff was incredibly friendly and took the time to answer my questions and offer suggestions since it was my first visit. I ordered two tacos: shrimp and chicken mole. Both were excellent, but the shrimp taco stole the show for me--it was spicy, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. I also tried their fresh melon juice, and it was so good! I chose to sit on their back patio, which was beautifully set up with string lights and heaters, making it cozy and inviting. It was so nice and a great space to enjoy a peaceful meal. I've already told so many people about this hidden gem. Guisados is a staple of LA and I'm thankful for a location in Long Beach. Came here on a Monday afternoon to have lunch. We ordered the sampler platter, elote tamales, chicken tamales, and the ceviche. The sampler platter is great because you can choose any 6 that you want or default to the first two of each protein (chicken, beef, & pork) The tamales were super delicious. The elote felt more like a dessert because of how sweet it was. I enjoyed the ceviche. Light and refreshing. I do prefer shrimp but the white fish was pretty good. Staff were great and I love the local support for the people of LA. Love supporting a business that supports the community. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is really nice. It actually kind of reminded me of eating outdoors in Boyle Heights location. Highly recommend this place. TL:DR: Elevated tacos albeit a little pricey. Excited that a Guisados opened in Long Beach! Originally tried this place out in Pasadena but given the glut of taco spots, it wasn't worth driving all the way up for. We got there around 12:30 and were happy to hear they were still doing breakfast. We ordered a chorizo breakfast taco and breakfast burrito. I wish there was more fillings in the breakfast burrito but it was still legit. Enjoyed the chorizo taco as well. We also got the chicken tinga, the carnitas, and fish tacos. The tortilla is excellent. A real homemade flavor. All of the tacos were excellent. I was surprised by how much I liked the fish taco. I do wish it had a bit more spice but the fish was flavorful. The chicken tinga has a little sweetness, some heat, and very flavorful. The carnitas were a little dry but otherwise pretty good. My son got the steak tacos and said they were really good which is high praise from a picky teenager. They were really nice and I liked the inside - small but modern and welcoming. The biggest downside is that if you get food to go, the amount of sauce makes the tortilla too soggy. We liked the drinks, the melon Fresca is a little too sweet but tastes of fresh melon. The Arnold Palmer is tangy and good. Will definitely go back and try other tacos. read more
