The tortillas - so warm and fluffy; the agua frescas - incredibly fresh and satisfying (gotta love the chamoy & tajin rims). My nephew asked for straight steak and rice, and they delivered to the tee. We traveled from Hawaiʻi and they totally hooked us up with complimentary churros. Came here on a Wednesday around 1pm. Table inside and outside. Tables couldve been cleaner. No bathroom. Parking lot in front. Ordered to go. Serivce was okay. I came here because of all the great reviews, so I was honestly expecting a lot more. The food was pretty mid across the board not terrible, but definitely not memorable or worth the price. Portions were mid , the flavors felt bland and overpriced for what you get. The biggest disappointment was how expensive everything was compared to the quality. I don't mind paying more for amazing Mexican food, but this just didn't deliver. There are way better spots for the same price (or less). We've been wanting to try this place and finally pulled the trigger. It's very small inside but cute. We shared the 3 taco plate with chips and salsa. I think the chips and salsa should be standard and not $3.99 additional charge. It was good though. The tacos we got were chicharron, carnitas, and chile verde. All guisaidos style but very good. Beans were well prepared and rice too. Michelada is served with a tall can and very tasty. They didn't have a lot of items on the menu I think because of staffing issue. It was the first time I had it so I'm unsure how the price is compared to other places but it was 3 tacos for 15. I also had a michelada which was also great. After seeing the reviews and all of the folks on social media raving about this spot - we decided to go and grab some dinner. We spoke to a few in line as we were waiting and they were all raving about it as well. I was a little thrown off because practically everything was premade and in hot trays. It was almost like cafeteria style, there were a few items that came out of the back. The food was OK, for me there wasn't much flavor in it and for the price I was hoping it would have been a little more fresh. The staff was friendly, and they were very accommodating, it was just the food and maybe all of the social media influencers created such a buzz that my expectations were higher. I got 5 different tacos, and the flavors were good. Based off just the taste, I'd give this place 4/5 stars. But unfortunately the value brings it down to 3 stars for me. First off, the tacos are slightly on the smaller side. I believe they're around $4 a taco, which would be fine if they were bigger. However with my 5 tacos, I was given a single small lime slice and a single small cup of salsa. First time trying La Chancla after good words were heard from my friends. It is a very nice and cozy place when I arrived. With ample seating and bustling with people ordering. I ordered the 3 tacos with rice and beans. I got the La verde, shrimp, and chicharones tacos. The best taco for me was the shrimp taco because of the tangy/spicy sauce they have already on it. Five stars for the flavor and quality of the meats and the handmade corn tortillas. The 3 taco platter definitely seems like the way to go here for the best experience. But the rest is a semi-cautionary tale: The carne asada fries were super basic and pretty underwhelming for the price, though the carne asada itself is absolutely delicious. My husband got a mole burrito and requested it wet, assuming it would be covered in mole or at least complementary-flavored sauce. It came slathered in their signature, super tangy green sauce which did not exactly go well with their rich and sweet mole. My husband was pretty put off by the flavor combination and just couldn't do it, and this man will eat anything. A heads up could have been nice. Mango agua with the chamoy/Tajin rim was fine. First few sips were bomb, but it kinda gets meh quickly. Smaller size would have definitely been the better call. --- You should still go try this establishment. Just do it for the tacos. read more

Wow were we blown away. We ordered this via DoorDash and everything was so good we had to order it twice. We tried the california burrito, asada, chicken tinga burrito, mole tacos, chille relleno tacos, and quesadilla. I recently visited La Chancla in Long Beach with my partner, and unfortunately the experience left a bad impression. The food itself was actually decent and flavorful, so I'll give credit where it's due. However, the service was extremely disappointing. The employee who took our order had a very negative and dismissive attitude toward us from the start. It made the entire interaction uncomfortable and honestly took away from what could have been a good dining experience. I'm not sure what the reason for the attitude was, but as a Black couple we couldn't help but feel unwelcome based on how we were treated. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and no one should feel uncomfortable when spending their money at a business. Because of the way we were treated, we won't be returning. Hopefully management takes feedback like this seriously and works on improving the customer service experience for everyone. read more

Prices are less than regular so about 4 dollars per taco. We got our agua Fresca with our check in. Super refreshing. Ambiance: 5/5 it's not a full restaurant but more of a quick meal. No frills just straight to the point! It's a decorated with lots of cute indigenous curtains and has a picture of mom with the chancla. I was glad I stopped by. I've been here several times and my experiences have been average. I had the baja shrimp tacos and the shrimp tasted dry and overcooked. Also the salsa that came with it was very sour so it didn't pair well together. The guacamole was ok, a bit mushy and flavorless. When you check in, you can redeem a free aqua fresca so I chose the mango flavor. It was watered down and did not have much mango flavor. One of the downsides here is that there isn't much seating available and they don't turn on the AC so it feels like sitting in a sauna.
