My spouse used to live in Long Beach, and this was his favorite Mexican place. He was excited to take me here on a Friday morning. We walked over and we were about 10 minutes early before they opened, but they let us in anyway. They started to soft with free chips and salsa. It was very good. We both had a spicy margarita, which was big and equally good. For his meal, he had the chicken tacos which he raved about. I had the cheese enchilada lunch special, which was delicious. It was a very large portion so I was not able to finish it. The waitstaff was extremely friendly.

Food - *****A+ The food here is so delicious, exactly the kind of oooey gooey cheesy Mexican grub that is my favorite. The portions are large here so you can share or take half home for tomorrow so good value too! The guacamole is so fresh and chunky. Service **** B. We sat in the bar for the first time tonight. The bartender is so joyful and helpful with yummy suggestions of his favorite items on the menu. As he delivers your food he warns you the plate is "Caliente!" Ambiance: **** B. The ambience in the bar is the best of the 3 options of where to sit here: the other two being the restaurant or the to-go Jr. Mex. The bar is the most fun and we are sitting on the barstools chatting with some characters. We might come back here not only for the best Mexican food but the fun conversations.

Shredded Beef Taco and Chicken Taco

Visited last Saturday for dinner before we left to our Carnival Cruise. Started my vacation with a margarita and a taco dinner! Husband recommended this restaurant as he had it on previous work trips. This restaurant is comfort Mexican food and just feels like a warm hug. The shredded beef taco and chicken taco tasted just like tacos I had made from my mom. The salsa on top of the tacos perfectly accented the tacos. Beans and rice were perfection! The margarita was perfectly mixed and very delicious! Can't wait to come back!

Rice & beans

FYI: Lite Beans is a completely different type of beans. I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at SuperMax, and I have to give them just one star. As a regular customer at this location, I often enjoy the convenience and usually good food, but this time, the customer service was utterly unacceptable. The inside is cute gives a small restaurant vibe despite it being a chain restaurant. After placing my first order through UberEats using a gift card, I encountered significant confusion over my request for "lite beans." I assumed it meant a smaller portion of the regular refried beans, but instead, I received pinto beans--completely different from what I expected. On top of that, the rice was served in a smaller portion as well, which only added to my frustration. I acknowledge that this was my mistake, but it's not clear that asking for "lite beans" would result in receiving entirely different beans. This lack of clarity in their menu led to a frustrating experience, and I expected better communication from the restaurant. When I called to explain the situation, hoping for some understanding, I was met with a dismissive attitude. The staff member simply said, "Well, sorry, that's your fault." This kind of indifference is unacceptable. Instead of taking accountability or offering a resolution, they deflected blame. When I asked if I could get the correct beans, I was told I would have to pay for them because it was "my fault." To make matters worse, the to-go person tried to share their own personal story as if that would somehow make the situation better. Honestly, when I am trying to resolve my issues as a customer, I don't want to hear about someone else's problems. It's incredibly frustrating and completely misses the point of good customer service. Overall, the lack of accountability and poor customer service ruined my experience. For anyone using the app, be aware that choosing "lite beans" may result in receiving pinto beans instead of what you expect, and don't be surprised if the customer service leaves much to be desired. SuperMax really needs to step up their game in terms of communication and how they handle customer concerns. The one with cheese is normal beans and rice. The one without the cheese is lite beans and 'normal' rice.

Food was good, nothing special but good. Staff was friendly, I sat on the restaurant side but the bar side definitely seemed like a good vibe.

Great food great service. Clean place will design authentic Mexican food. Great drinks, full bar. Great place to celebrate a birthday anniversary or just a good dinner. With your family.

Do you have the nfl packet or just show whatever is shown in the west coast?

They show the NFL games that are broadcast locally. So just the west coast games.

Is the Fullerton location open on Mother's Day, if so do I need reservations or is it just business as usual?

You might want to call Super Mex to ask them your questions directly. I don't know there holiday hours.

What days and hours is there happy hour?

I think 3-7 weekdays, appetizers and drink specials

I love the whole concept and atmosphere; it just felt like the perfect birthday brunch setting. I was especially pressed (in the best way) that they had a dog menu, so of course we had to bring our dog, Shadow, to enjoy it with us; which made the experience even more fun and unique. The food was okay, nothing mind-blowing but still enjoyable for a casual brunch. The drinks, though? Strong! just how I like them, especially for a birthday celebration. But the real highlight was the service. Our server, Emma, was amazing; super attentive, friendly, and really made the whole experience stand out. Overall, it's a cute spot with great energy, perfect for a chill brunch by the beach. VERDICT: I WILL COMEBACK, if I go back to Long Beach!

It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. We tried the jamaiica, cucumber, and regular ELBC margi-rita and I can guarantee you we felt a nice buzz. I will say this: they have some of the best chips and salsa. The chips are crispy, warm, and taste super fresh. I'm a sucker for good chips and salsa. It's easily one of my favorite parts of going to a Mexican restaurant, and they definitely deliver there. Their cocktails continue to be consistently delicious. My absolute favorite is the cucumber jalapeño margarita, refreshing with just the right kick. They never miss on the drinks. As for the food, I've had their enchiladas and tacos before. This last time I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos. When I hear "blackened," I expect bold seasoning and flavor. That's not what I got. They were pretty basic and underwhelming for the price. Two tacos for $17, plus an additional $5 per shrimp taco? That felt excessive for what was served. Service was okay. Nothing special, nothing terrible. Now, the location? You can't beat it. Being upstairs at 2nd & PCH with the Alamitos Bay view is a whole vibe. It's a perfect setting for date night or drinks with friends.
