Love me some Super Mex! We don't have a Super Mex in Orange County any more so we cruise PCH to 2nd Street and we visit this location. We also like the Super Mex in HB on PCH @ Warner Avenue. The chips and sales are great, yeah good fajitas and the wife likes the Tamales. It is really sad that a lot of the other Super Mex restaurants have closed, I really like this restaurant. read more

Super Mex I love you! I've been coming here with my family for years and it's really a staple for us. The free salsa here is amazing. I always get the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans combo. The rice is good, nothing special, but the beans are incredible. The enchiladas are good too- cheesy, with a tangy sauce on top. On my most recent visit I feel like there was too much cheese on top of the beans, and would've preferred that cheese to be inside the enchiladas as they weren't as cheesy as I'd hoped. Because of all the cheese on top, the enchiladas were in a bit of a puddle of oil which wasn't the most appetizing. We still enjoyed the food and it satisfied my need for California Tex-Mex! read more

We came here during the Christmas parade and stopped by for dinner. The staff were welcoming and a lot of fun. There was a DJ playing old school hits and some of the staff were dancing and having a good time. It made the experience so much more fun. All of the food we ordered was really good and seasoned well. The salsa was spicy and super tasty. The mini chimis were a nice spin on a large chimichanga and tasted great with the salsa, sour cream and guacamole. The quesadillas alike were absolutely delicious with the toppings added. I was passing through Long Beach after a toy drive in Wilmington and decided to get a quick bite on 2nd Street for old times' sake. It had been decades since my last visit in the 90s, and I was feeling incredibly nostalgic for their food. I was pleased to find that parking was a breeze, with easy access to the back lot, and even better, SuperMex validates! The place was clean and remarkably unchanged, bringing back wonderful memories. We were immediately greeted and seated by a fantastic waiter, Ramon 'Ray'. He delivered chips and salsa, and when I tasted the salsa, it immediately brought back memories from when I was young; the taste hasn't changed. We ordered the Super Mex Chicken Burrito and an a la carte crispy chicken taco; enough to share. While waiting, I was telling my friend I needed to ask for pico de gallo, and instantly, a young gentleman, Isaac, approached me and asked if there was anything I needed. I was like, 'Is there a camera or audio?' because that was such a surprise! Apologies for the lack of photos for show and tell! The fantastic service and familiar atmosphere provided such a strong wave of nostalgia that I completely forgot to take any pictures. Loved the ground beef in the tacos and the cheesy queso in the enchilada. My wife is a wet bean burrito connoisseur and gave her meal a 10/10! Love the chill atmosphere and lively music played here - normally you'd expect mariachi music right? Nope, they were bumping Bad Bunny and we loved it! Super cool spot on 2nd Street. I woke up craving hard shell tacos, so I went here today and ordered ground beef tacos. These took me back to the tacos my grandma used to make with potatoes. The tacos were so juicy and flavorful- totally hit the spot. Our server, Michel, was extremely attentive and kind. We ate on the outside patio with our dog, and Michel brought out water for us and our dog, right away. We really enjoy our lunch, so much that we even ordered salsa to bring home with us. My friend ordered Bud Light from the tap and it did not taste right and she took it back so problem and he ordered the bottle instead. I had their mocktail La Novia and it was delicious! This restaurant is quite large with three distinct dining areas (two indoors and one covered patio), which is a lot for Belmont Shore. Service was extremely attentive and friendly. The interior was colorful, and menu large, albeit not that varied (I was missing tortas, sopes, and more soup options). The strawberry lemonade was very tasty, and the salsa fresh with just the right amount of kick. The tortilla chips were tostadas, but the kind with speckled corn. We ordered an albóndigas soup and green chile pork dish. The albóndigas soup was a bit tomato-y and spicy, different than I am used to but still tasty. The green chile pork dish was very flavorful, though the rice was a bit hard and the dish overall too salty for me. We opted for "mixed" tortillas (two flour + one corn), but they were the kind of flour tortillas that I don't like (if you've had fresh flour tortillas in Northern Mexico you will know what I mean). What's up: We were hanging out at our buddy's place and wanted to grab lunch nearby. He recommended this place because they have yummy margaritas and tacos! Parking: There is a paid parking lot accessible from either 2nd St or E Livingston Dr. Super Mex provides parking validation, so be sure to talk with a staff member to get that covered. Street parking is also available. Environment: Indoor and outdoor dining is available. They have a nice patio area in the back where we were seated. Restrooms are located to the right just before you enter the patio area. Rosemary took care of our table. She was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of recommendations. Complementary chips and salsa held us over until our food/drinks arrived. Rosemary also came by often to check up on how we were doing. What was ordered: - Two Tacos, Rice & Beans (lots of food. The shredded beef tacos were tasty) - Carne Asada Burrito (meh, too much beans for my taste. It was all I could taste) - Strawberry Margarita (refreshing) Yay/Nay/Meh: Meh. Friday Jan 24th @ 11 am who ever was the cook that day needs to be retrained. I can't believe it. First I called 5 times no one answers the phones ! then I asked for a hard taco got a soft taco. Then I asked for a cheese enchiladas the cheese was not melted @all it was still whole and cold the corn or flour tortilla whatever one they use was stale and extremely hard and the rice was all bundled together and when I took a bite out of it, it was like a rock. It was extremely hard and I lived two minutes away, so I know the food would have not gotten that hard in two minutes. I just cannot believe it. This has not ever happened to me before @ any super mex but this one and I don't know if they gave me leftovers and tried to warm it up and everything got burnt but for me to wait from 11 to 1126 to have hard rice and a burnt tortilla shell and cold cheese not melted and it taste like I'm chewing on pebble rocks. It's like come on you guys get it together.smh wont be back to this location go to lakewood yall read more

This review is for to-go on a Friday night. The food was just all right. Very dry rice, minimal sauce on a super mex "wet burrito" And was very tasteless and my cheese enchilada was rock hard. The consistent thing there is their salsa. It's delicious. But for a $90 to go order, salsa can't be the only thing that's good no tried to give it multiple chances and I'm always under satisfied and disappointed. read more
