I'm sad to have to write this review. Since moving to the Bay Towers 2 1/2 years ago, we discovered Patricia says quiet restaurant that provides excellent basic Mexican food and good service and a friendly atmosphere. It was reasonably priced even in these times of terrible inflation. Yesterday we met some friends for lunch and discovered some items are no longer on the menu. There were only two people staffing the restaurant and they were fairly Kurt. We ordered our simple double taco dish and waited a very long time for it to come unlike before. I got through a half a taco before I gave up. I took them home to eat for my next meal, but ended up throwing them away because they were so dry and un edible. I don't know what happened whether the owners have fallen on hard times or if they've had to sell. I know times are difficult these days. The meal was incredibly expensive for what it gave. It cost us $90 for four people having small items. I'm sorry to say I won't be back. It was really marvelous find as long as we enjoyed it. I hope nothing bad has happened to the family that owns us, but I can't eat that food. So sorry this happened. read more

Someone told my husband about this restaurant and said it was an authentic place for some good Mexican food. (We love Mexican food!) We asked for chips after we ordered. They give a complimentary basket with some beans and green sauce on top. I thought that was interesting and different. Those were fine although I thought the beans were a bit bland. My husband got the taco and enchilada combo with beans and rice and I got 2 tacos, one chicken and one beef. Honestly, it didn't blow us away. The food was ok. Not amazing and we've had better. I'm writing this updated review based on an experience I had this past Friday. I picked up food as I usually do for my Friday lunch meet ups with my UPS driver son. We had Patricia's again. The food was delicious. We had mixed ceviche, a wet, Barbacoa burrito and chicken taquitos. The ceviche was delicious and very fresh. It comes with shrimp, octopus and white fish. They give plenty of tasty chips and tostadas to go with the ceviche. All of the salsas are delicious. The chicken taquitos were very good and come with guacamole, which was also very good. We also had cucumber and strawberry Agua Fresca's, they were very well prepared The restaurant is nice and clean. It's large and I'm sure it gets packed on the weekend. The reason for the updated review is that I left my wallet there. I realized it after we finished our lunch and before I drove back to Orange County. I was able to swing by and pick it up. They sweetly put it in a little brown paper bag and I'm happy to report that all the contents were still there. It speaks well for the Bixby Knolls area, the clientele and the staff of Patricia's. My colleagues ordered food here for lunch many times and once in a while I would get ceviche from there. The food is decent and of good quality, especially the ceviche, whether it's fish, shrimp, or mixed ceviche (which includes octopus), I always could taste the freshness in their seafood quality. You know, the fresh firm and cooked just right texture, and not the type where you can taste that they have thawed the seafood. My colleagues also loved their tacos and wet burritos and they are very big. There also is also good and spicy. When you go to the restaurant, they have a salsa bar where you can package all the pico de gallo, salsa, and pickled veggies all you want. Parking could be tough during rush hours. I have been coming to this restaurant as a little girl, I'd say since I was maybe 6 and now I'm 25! The food never disappoints and their enchiladas are to die for!!! This is a family owned and operated joint as well and I typically love to support that more than chains!!! The ambiance gives a warm and cozy authentic Mexican restaurant with amazing staff!!! They are kind, helpful and most importantly generous! They always have been and I cannot wait to bring my future children here so they can experience it as much as I have! I have been to Patricia's many times. I keep wanting to love the place but I can't. Each time I say I'm not coming back but I do, so it can't be that bad. Service is great. Who cares about the decor, I go to eat not get wowed by ambiance. But to be specific, I am vegetarian (just no meat) so I will order accordingly. They do have veggie burritos and tacos and they have potato tacos, one of my favorites, but the potato is more like mashed potatoes. Same with a breakfast burrito. Meals are generous enough, the chips with beans and green sauce are pretty good. It's just basic food, nothing special and when you are leaving you are wondering 2 things: why did I come back and where else can I go that doesn't cost 25 bucks for a enchilada's? Wanted a chimichanga so I found this place. I called to verify an item that wasn't in their menu... the lady said yes and hung up lol. So I figured maybe she was busy. I proceeded to the restaurant anyway. The first thing that threw me off was all the employees handling the food with no gloves. The lady scooping them chips with her hands was crazy no lie... i was charged an extra .70 for tomatoes.. which turned out to be pico de gal The parking lot was a reasonable size so you don't have to fight for parking. Not saying that it is the best Mexican food but just average. Considerably equal to a El Torrito Restaurant without the fancy ambiance. This is the Mexican answer to a greasy spoon diner. You order at the counter, and the order is delivered to the table. The food is simple yet satisfying, served in a no-frill fashion. The caldo de res was rich and I love the fact that there's a whole plate of toppings that you may deploy at your discretion, including three slices of avocado. The accompanying corn tortilla were store-bought. I became very thirsty after lunch, which could mean that the food is over-salted or contained MSG. I don't regret eating it though. I was a pretty happy camper. The cafeteria-style furniture was a little uncomfortable, but most of the customers didn't seem to mind it. My bony butts was getting sore after a while, but the cushioned chairs at the bench rammed my knees directly into the metal beam under the table. I originally ordered 4 shrimp ceviche tostadas over the phone when i got there the lady said she only took my order as one tostada so i asked to just make it three in total. The lady proceeded to charge me for four. I let the tall guy at the counter know what was wrong and he said don't worry he will credit me back the $7.99 for the shrimp ceviche that I didn't get. This was two weeks ago and still haven't received my credit. So basically Patricias stole from me. I will not go back to a place the rips off its patrons. I love this place. I'm allergic to shell fish so for a long time i havent been able to eat the chips they give you before the food in a lot of restaurants. When they brought out some for us here i kept just wanting some but i couldn't because most place only have one oil cooker and they fry shrimp in it. The cook took it upon him self to cook me a fresh batch of chips with guacamole and beans. I enjoy it so much. Its hard to find service like that now and days. The food is super good , the prices for the serving sice are very good. Definitely recomend this place. Sorry i didnt take pics I couldnt wait and ate it right away. Cravings satisfied . The Carne asada fries were soooo good !! So much meat !! Added all the salsa in the salsa bar and it was even better . The fries were a little over done but I like extra crispy fries so I wasn't mad about it (keeps it from getting soggy from all the goods on top) I saw a bad review on them serving a little bit of sour cream and guacamole and I was a little nervous going in, but they gave the perfect amount (and it was like the size of my palm)! I placed a phone order for to go and waited with my kids at a table. They walked my order to us and it looked so good on top of the nice quiet atmosphere (I got there at the perfect time since only one or two parties were there) so we ended up devouring the whole thing at the restaurant.
