The ceviche was pretty spicy, but it was probably the best I've ever had. I also had the aguachiles verdes and it was really good, and a healthier choice compared to other items on the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meals, no complaints. The margaritas are strong and the portions are generous.

Had lunch here with friends today. Here are my thoughts. I love Mexican food, so I love trying new places. Pros Staff are awesome Quality of the food is good Servers we excellent Variety from the menu was huge Time for food to arrive at the table was fast Cons The bowls they put their salsa in were very small. All gone after dipping 5 chips. Not sure why they do this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating a bit crowded for parties of 8 or more[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices were on the high side Portions on the soft shell tacos were small! See photo Overall a good place, but no wow factor! I would rate it 3.5 if I can. Not sure I would come back, but enjoyed my time there with friends.

Very good food. Our server Joel- was on top of it, even with a full house. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was overall good vibes with people there to celebrate birthdays and just watching the World Cup.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has a separate bar area which looked like fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lots of parking and they made space for us, so no wait! Excited to go back soon

It's been a while since our last visit, but my family decided to drop in for Sunday dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a 30-minute wait, which gave me time to admire the new front addition--it looks like they're building a patio to keep up with the high demand![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just to be clear: this isn't your standard "Gringo" Mexican food. It is 100% authentic and tastes just like a home-cooked meal. Everything from the handmade tortillas to the salsas is top-tier. Whether you get the mole, the molcajete, or the enchiladas, you really can't go wrong. My only disappointment was finding out they took the sopes off the menu; they used to be huge and "the bomb." We were a party of five adults and one toddler, and they applied an automatic 18% gratuity (which they do for parties of 6+). Our server, Claudia, was fantastic! My only real gripe is the price hike. Enchiladas used to be under $13, but now almost everything is $20+. It's getting into steakhouse price territory, but the food is still delicious and the staff works incredibly hard. I noticed the happy hour menu. Not what it use to be, $7.77 once upon a time. But still some relief for your wallet. I missed coming here, nice to be back.

Shredded 3 Taquitos A La Carte / Fajitas Mixta and Reposado margaritas!! All

Whuuut??? Los Compadres, where have you been on my life??? As I am on my way to HB I have accidentally found you along the way. Taquitos were ok - but the fajitas and margies were spot on!! I will definitely be back when in the LB [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service, food and ambiance all excellent !![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

They are still under construction to finish new patio area at the entrance. We had to park the car toward exit and found no more entrance from the Anaheim St. So slow during late lunch. The service was slower than usual. We ordered the same ones, 2 crispy taco combination and my 2 chimichanga combo. Same quality and same ambiance except new construction area. Little noisy.... Hopefully they finish the new patio area soon. I don't like too much noises when I eat. We loved the Spanish rice, beans, warm chips and salsa. Their house margarita was so good for $14. We miss happy hour from 4. Cheaper margarita, cocktails.... Great place if you like the real Mexican foods.

Came here for a nice dinner and drinks and were not disappointed. The outside of the restaurant is being remodeled to accommodate outdoor seating. We probably had the best waiter here, he was nice and attentive. We went straight for the meal as it was getting late. We ordered Bacon wrap Shrimp, Cheese Enchilada, Carne Asada plate, Shrimp soup, and Guacamole. We added a Blended Margarita, delicious. Well-blended tasty Margarita. Overall our food was good.

This is great Mexican food! [[HIGHLIGHT]]No wonder it is always packed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We don't come very often because of that last statement, but it is certainly worth it for special occasions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came for my mom's birthday a couple of years ago, and we were a group of 7-8 adults and 5 kids, and we were attended to nicely. The menu is also quite expansive and has almost any type of Mexican food one could crave from tacos and burritos to fish plates, from fajitas to cocteles, from chilaquiles and other breakfast options to caldos. More recently, we came for my brother's-in-law birthday. We were a group of 9 adults and 3 kids. They were very accommodating to the few of us that split plates or with minor substitutions with things on the menu. I almost always get the coctel de camaron because it is my favorite place to get them. The shrimp is always perfectly cooked and abundant, the broth nicely flavored and there is plenty of chopped veggies. The green habanero sauce on the table went very well in my coctel. It comes served with saltines by default, but we requested tostadas. To drink I ordered the Michelada Chabela with a Pacifico. It was a little too sweet and salty for me toward the end. I ordered it because of the addition of Worcestershire sauce, but did not really care for the tamarindo straw or that amount of chamoy and tajin inside the actual drink. In the future, I think I will stick with the regular michelada and request for a couple of dashes of W sauce to be added in. My parents and my sister each ordered the fajitas mixtas, and those looked delicious as well. I like that you can request frijoles de la olla (whole cooked beans) in place of the refried ones. I will have to make it a point to come more than once a year, especially after seeing their happy hour menu. Thank you, Compadres!

The service was amazing - everyone was attentive and kind. I like that there's a lot by the restaurant so parking isn't an issue. The food is decently priced and you get a good amount of food. The food is delicious, highly recommend.

We came on a Saturday for "early dinner" around 4pm so the restaurant was pretty empty. The vibe here was actually really nice, intimate, spacious, and with fun music that made it feel lively without being overwhelming. The service was fast and friendly, which I definitely appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the atmosphere. I ordered 3 tacos (pastor and carnitas) with rice and beans. The pastor was dry and really lacked flavor, and the carnitas were overly fatty and could've used more salt and seasoning overall. The beans were bland too, though the rice was the highlight of the plate; flavorful and well-cooked. I also ordered a margarita, which looked great and came in a generous size, but it was very weak and mostly tasted like juice. Overall, great vibe and good service, but the food itself just didn't deliver.

OVERALL: 8/10 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Los Compadres is a great family friendly restaurant. Whether it's a date night or the entire family getting together for a celebration, this place will take care of you[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. SERVICE: 4/10 The servers are genuinely nice and personable. However, today we felt ignored. Probably not the servers fault, since they were BUSY... but, we couldn't help but feel ignored. Our food took forever to arrive and when it did, one plate arrived about 20 mins AFTER ever one else's and another dish who we said no cheese due to a dairy allergy - came with cheese! this is not a normal experience- which takes me back to my comment of feeling ignored. Food: 8/10 Food was great! Tasty and huge portions - HOWEVER, I am taking off 2 points for the dairy allergy mix up. I mean, come on - the is food safety 101!!! Notable food mentions: The carne asada was tender and cooked perfectly. The caldo de pollo tasted homemade and had a lot of chicken and veggies. Do I recommend?: Absolutely!!!

A co-worker asked me to lunch and recommended Los Compadres. i have passed this restaurant countless times and never stopped. i will say before i get started that i have been missing out. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is a little dark. we both had to use our flashlights on our cells. Claudia was our waitress, we didn't have to wait long before our waters with lime and chips and salsa came. The chips and salsa was very good. the salsa was just right, not too mild and a little kick. i ordered the 1 Chicken Enchilada & Chicken Taco Dorado combo $20, she order 3 Chicken Sopes $16. our meals came reasonably quick considering it seemed like they were fairly busy. it was noon. The food was delicious. seasoned perfect! even the beans and rice were chef's kiss! the portions were big and embarrassingly, i ate all my food and it was not a lunch portion. My favorite go-to establishment had been a Mexican restaurant food chain in Long Beach, until now. i cannot wait to go back.

What I really appreciate is that sometimes it's even kid-friendly, which makes it a great option if you're not just going out solo or with friends. I've been coming around since back when it was Iguana Kelly's, and it's been cool to see how the place has evolved while still keeping that local, neighborhood feel. The location is super easy to find, right next to a donut shop and a mechanic, and across the street you've got a 7-Eleven, Subway, and a few other small spots. Plus, Tommy's Burgers and an Arco are right nearby, so everything you might need is within reach. I tried both the cucumber mixed drink and the mango mixed drink, both were really good, but I personally preferred the cucumber one. It's less sweet and way more refreshing, especially if you're not into overly sugary drinks. We also had a BBQ chicken pizza that they cook in a fire oven (I think it's called a wood-fired pizza), and it was really good, definitely worth trying if you go. Service was good During the outdoor event, they had things set up really well, including a sign that read "21 and over beyond this point only," which helped keep things organized. They also had jumpers outside for the little ones to enjoy, along with tables and chairs so everyone could hang out comfortably. Parking can be a bit tight in their lot, but there's always street parking if you take a minute to read the signs. For starters, we got the Parker House Rolls, which comes with truffle butter, local citrus honey, and grana padano cheese. These rolls were so fluffy and flavorful. We also ordered the hummus, which was so rich and creamy, and the oysters from the raw bar. For the main, we ordered the Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop, Fish & Chips, and the Wedge salad to share. And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. It had your key ingredients: iceberg, buttermilk dressing, red onion, crumbled egg, tomato, bacon gastrique, blue cheese, dill, chives - but something about this salad was different! It was so refreshing, flavorful--just everything you want in a dish. We ended the dining experience with their Peach Cobbler Hand Pie, which came with streusel, pistachio crumble, salted caramel, and vanilla ice cream. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the area!

Definitely worth it! The vibes are unmatched. It's a unique blend of "top notch cocktail crafting" and "beer and a hot pretzel after work." You can dress up, you can dress down, it's very 'just be yourself' which I love. I've literally had caviar AND hot dogs there in the same night at an event. They know how to blend high/low. Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

It's a IYKYK kind of place here. We didn't know about it as we were here meeting some friends for…read moredrinks. They made all the reservations. Honestly thought it was the bar that we came inside. First impression, why did we need reservations.... Since we didn't know the hidden entrance. Well, it's a cool concept once we entered. There's a dress code so be advised. What I found out was the entrance of the speakeasy was through a phone booth that next to the pool table of Roxanne's bar. Once reservations is made, you'll received an email with a password to enter. Enter phone booth and to connect to the inside and they'll open the door for you. We had the first reservations I believe they opened at 7pm. We were the first group to arrive. As it was my first time, we had ordered bar food and were waiting for it inside the main bar. So half an hour was used from our time limit. The speakeasy, dark and moody but perfect for the place. Special crafted cocktails by the bartenders which were great. They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. They're very strict with the time limits. Once it's reached they'll let you know.
