Carne Asada Breakfast

Los Compadres on Pine -- A Local Favorite That Never Misses If you're a local, chances are you've already been to Los Compadres on Pine. But if you haven't, do yourself a favor and add it to your list...you won't regret it. Now, this isn't a fancy spot. Every wall with TVs playing sports, and it can get very loud when it's busy. But once you get past that, you're in for some seriously good food. I've been there more than a dozen times, and the food has always been delicious and consistent. The service has always been great too! The Carne Asada Plate is easily a 9 out of 10 -- generous portion, tender and flavorful meat, cooked just right. The Caldo de Res is another standout, also a solid 9 out of 10, packed with tender beef and plenty of hearty vegetables. Breakfast lovers won't be disappointed either -- every breakfast plate I've tried has been spot-on. The chips and salsa, which are always fresh and tasty. For a little extra, try their Salsa Casera (with roasted chiles) -- it's incredible. And the best part? Tortillas made in-house -- soft, warm, and fresh!

We chose Los Compadres tonight to celebrate my late sister's Birthday with our Family. The food was delicious. The services we received was tremendous. Ambiance was really nice. We ordered a lot of food there were 10 of us. Wifey got the chicken tacos. My daughter ordered chorizo and rice and beans. My son ordered a carne asada burrito. Our daughter in law got shrimp cocktail. I ordered the Molcajete. Overall a great experience. We highly recommend Los Compadres.

Happy hour Fish tacos

I am so glad I found this place! It's a small chain with fresh and tasty Mexican food and drinks. The happy hour is Monday-Friday and has some great eats and drinks. The portions are great and the food is made fresh to order. Even the chips were fresh and warm, and it didn't taste like they were sitting in a hot lamp all day. The fish tacos were super good, lightly battered, crispy and packed with flavor. I really liked the smokey chipotle sauce that came with the tacos, it was creamy, tangy and had a little kick. My wife got the asada wet burrito, and it was the size of my forearm! We also got the queso fundido that I forgot to snap a pic of, but it was the best queso I've had! Super cheesy, packed with chorizo and topped with sautéed onions and green peppers. It also came with a side of tortillas and a molcajete style salsa that was super good. Happy hour drinks were reasonably prices and went perfectly with our food. The staff were super friendly and the service was good and attentive. We will definitely be back! Only con would be the parking. There's a sign for a lot somewhere, but I wasn't able to find it so we had to look for street parking.

Los Compadres on pine is one of my local favorite restaurants for authentic Mexican food. The food, drinks, service and cleanliness is excellent. Staff is super friendly and go above and beyond to provide excellent service. This place is a family favorite.

This really hit the spot for me. It had been a long day without any food so far so to have a good meal was right on time! Just as soon as we hit the front door we were greeted snd taken to an available table. Little things can really add up such as having a side of sour cream included instead of having to order it separately (i like what i like ) Our food was at our table maybe within 15 minutes of ordering. This was a great pick on a hungry Saturday afternoon. One of my associates said it tasted like grandma made it

So we stumbled to this place by accident. No regrets. Our servers were super nice and friendly. Then we asked if they could customize any dishes to our dietary needs, they were like yes of course. We chose tacos cuz well we love tacos. Their guacamole was delicious, different from mosts and wasn't too salty which I appreciated. The tacos, MUAH! Gosh I could eat more if I could, oh and the beans and rice... so flipping good. The ambiance def had a feeling of home which we both loved very much. Also kudos for having a really clean bathroom! We hope to go back soon cuz I didn't get to try the drinks haha.

They charged a mandatory 18% tip, plus taxes. The restaurants environment and food was okay, there's better options than this place.

The dishes are radically inventive and make a diner feel like they are transported to a high-end New Mexico ranch with their thorough authenticity. I love the whole concept and atmosphere; it just felt like the perfect birthday brunch setting. I was especially pressed (in the best way) that they had a dog menu, so of course we had to bring our dog, Shadow, to enjoy it with us; which made the experience even more fun and unique. The food was okay, nothing mind-blowing but still enjoyable for a casual brunch. The drinks, though? Strong! just how I like them, especially for a birthday celebration. But the real highlight was the service. Our server, Emma, was amazing; super attentive, friendly, and really made the whole experience stand out. Overall, it's a cute spot with great energy, perfect for a chill brunch by the beach. VERDICT: I WILL COMEBACK, if I go back to Long Beach!

It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. Only the front patio and inside seating was available as the back patio wasn't open. We did start to see other staff walking in so maybe there was only one staff during the time.

We tried the jamaiica, cucumber, and regular ELBC margi-rita and I can guarantee you we felt a nice buzz. For food, we ordered taquitos de papa, half dozen oysters, 6 tacos (carnitas, carne, and pollo), quesadillas, and the el crunchy shrimp tempura roll. Our spread was litty! Prices were reflective on their recession menu which I think was cleverly designed. Service and ambience were great. Catching up with friends on taco Tuesday is always a good time. I will say this: they have some of the best chips and salsa. The chips are crispy, warm, and taste super fresh. I'm a sucker for good chips and salsa. It's easily one of my favorite parts of going to a Mexican restaurant, and they definitely deliver there. Their cocktails continue to be consistently delicious. My absolute favorite is the cucumber jalapeño margarita, refreshing with just the right kick. They never miss on the drinks. As for the food, I've had their enchiladas and tacos before. This last time I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos. When I hear "blackened," I expect bold seasoning and flavor. That's not what I got. They were pretty basic and underwhelming for the price. Two tacos for $17, plus an additional $5 per shrimp taco? That felt excessive for what was served. Service was okay. Nothing special, nothing terrible. Now, the location? You can't beat it. Being upstairs at 2nd & PCH with the Alamitos Bay view is a whole vibe. It's a perfect setting for date night or drinks with friends. They don't validate parking, but the first 90 minutes are free, which helps. Overall: great drinks, amazing chips and salsa, beautiful location , but the food (at least this time) didn't quite match the price point.
