I've been craving a GOOD bean and cheese burrito. The place I normally went to raised their price quite a a bit and also shrank the burrito. :-/ I decided to call here and ask them how much their bean and cheese burrito was. She said it was $6.50 (plus tax) but they have a special that you get two of them for $9.95 including tax. It also came with chips and salsa. These suckers were HUGE. The bag of food was HEAVY too, had to have been like 5 pounds. They loaded the burritos and didn't skimp on the cheese! YUM. They aren't fancy but I'm not boujee when it comes to my food, I like simple and good. If you like lots of food for a great deal come here. I got 2 meals out of this for $10 bucks! read more

Perhaps some of the most mid Mexican food I've ever eaten. Not very clean inside and lots of the upholstery is peeling or falling apart. Okay, so admittedly, the vibes sitting down here were WAY off. The floor and a few tables were dirty, there were no other diners inside. The menus were slightly sticky from probably years of chip grease-laden fingers perusing them. If you have even a remote preference for ambiance, consider eating on the patio or taking it to go. The restaurant just had a funky energy, smelled like old furniture and cooking oil, so maybe don't bring a date or business lunch there. Unless, of course, they are into the kinda neglected dive-y vibe and your whole purpose is to impress them with the deliciousness of the food. Yes, it's greasy. Yes, it's extra cheesy. It's also the best shredded beef crunchy tacos and slathered super deluxe wet burritos. Hands down. Bring a healthy appetite and maybe a bib. It gets messy. For fellow South Bay natives, this is verifiably LBJ's little cousin. The recipes are super similar, if not the same. Gen X'ers and Millenials -- they have our Special C. If you were going to fast food at the beach come here instead. It's even cheaper. The food is traditional Mexican and it's right by the pier. Very reasonable prices. The food was adequate barring the tasteless shredded beef taco but the disrepair of the facility is off-putting ESPECIALLY the disgusting bathrooms. One thing I have to say about this place is the food is still delicious like back in the days . I could not believe it but the only thing that made me mad. I found some hair in my salsa. That was a big turn off, but I ordered 2 shedding beef burritos and 1 chunky beef wet burrito it was fire but they didn't give us any guacamole or sour cream on top of our burrito. I was so mad about that. but besides that the food was good the place needed to be kept up a little bit. Arrived in LB after torturing trek from Sac'to to see the kid at his dorm but he had frat and club activities so we left and checked into our hotel. After we unloaded my wife and I looked at each other with that...."what's for dinner" look so I perused Yelp to see what sounds good. I saw a Mexican place near the college so we hopped into the car and saw El Burrito Grill as we left the parking lot but it didn't have anyone inside so I proceeded to my first choice but after looking at their menu board we decided to head back to El Burrito Grill. Upon parking we saw a few people inside which made me feel better about the restaurant. As we walked in there's pictures of food they serve and I decided on a wet burrito and my wife the nachos. They serve whole fried tortillas for chips instead of the normal triangle shaped ones. The burrito itself was very delicious but the sauce seemed like just plain enchilada sauce. My wife's nachos was delicious too but the whole tortilla chips made it hard to eat because she had to use her fork to break up the chips into manageable pieces to eat. All in all the meal was good and on a pinch I'd come back to try their dinner plates. The young gal at the counter was very sweet which was a bonus and made our experience pleasurable. The most bizarre awful experience. I walked in with my brother for the first time ever and the manager and cook claimed that we were there the day before and never paid for our food. I was so confused and felt awful for being accused. My brother and I explained that we had never been there before. The manager was rude to us and said that is what the cook said. I was so upset and almost cried. My brother talked to the manager assuring him that we were not the criminals and the manager ended up realizing that they were wrong and said he would serve us. I said no thank you because I was so upset and we left. I would like to add that the restaurant looks worn down. There was tape all over the booth seats. This place doesn't have good reviews and now I know why. The cook needs to get his eyes checked. The manager should have handled that situation differently. This is one of only "El Burrito Grill" locations, both in Long Beach. People compare it to the El Burrito Jr., Inc., which has 4 locations, none of which are the local Seal Beach one, which is also El Burrito Jr. but inkless. Maybe there's even a Los Angeles El Burrito of Anaheim. Who knows? I can't be sure which donkey-branded joint belongs to what-there's just a bunch of asses everywhere. But I can say they all kick ass: big, greasy, cheesy, portions of Mexican food at a decent price. read more

They let us order our sodas before telling us they had no ice! If we knew that we wouldn't have spent our money on them. Despite their location next to a liquor store, I guess they don't care enough to make sure they have Ice. Place was dead. Not a single other person in there, and yet it still took 25 min for our food. Considering walking out multiple times during this wait. Complimentary chips and salsa were bad, chips were stale. Then when walking out, I noticed a massive bin of chips made already sitting in the back of the kitchen! Who are those for!? It's dead! It takes 15 seconds to fry the tortillas to make the chips, no wonder they're stale. I had a bad experience here before, but decided to give it another chance since I'm local.
