This place is located in a small plaza with limited parking right next to a freeway exit. The restaurant is small to moderately sized with a couple of tables. A third of the dining room is taken up by the kitchen where you can see the workers make and package the food. To the right of the entrance is the ordering tablets along with a tip jar. There are 2 beverage machines, one containing Pepsi products and the other containing their homestyle lemonade, strawberry watermelon, and mango lemonade. The interior was clean and brightly lit with a few signs that add a bit of humor to the location. I ordered some tenders but have had their nuggets in the past with hot level spice. Order do take a while, 10-15 minutes, since they make them fresh and usually have a queue of orders. The chicken is seemingly fried, dunked in some sort of liquid (oil?) then powdered with your level of spice. It has nice crunch, a good juiciness, but an uneven coat of spice. In this way I prefer the nuggets over the tenders since there is more likelihood of missing seasoning with the tender. Hot provides a very excellent kick, and their sauce does taste pretty good (like comeback sauce). Pretty good chicken. Just a note, the fountain water tastes a little funky. I would avoid it.

Great food and customer service 10/10 experience, definitely will be back

Food was great and the service The cooks are clean and sweet, I will definitely be back

Pictured: Double Snash Burger and The Crimson * generous protein portions! * nationwide Nashville hot chicken franchise * menu has options for tenders/wings, sandwiches/wraps/burgers, loaded fries, and more 7/10

I wish I had a before and after shot, but you can look at their advertisements. The chicken used to spill 3 or 4 inches over the bun.

Beware!! Shrinkflation has hit Crimson Coward!!! The sandwich is so much smaller than it used to be. I could have gone to Ch... Fi... for half the price. I wish I would have known so I could have ordered more food. But alas not all has fallen so short because the chicken tenders are still the same. Just stay away from the sandwich if you value your dollar.

Why have I not been here sooner! Nice little chicken spot. Stop by this past Sunday to order take out. Smaller Parking lot, but we found a spot out front. The staff that took our order was very nice and welcoming. She was so helpful with our order. I ended up getting the crimson onion Joey style. This thing was huge !! So good and was freshly made while we waited. Chicken was perfect and juicy. I got The medium level and had a kick Of spicy. Fiancé got the 3 pc tenders and same as chicken in my order, tasty and juicy - chicken was Cooked perfectly. He got 2 pieces hot spicie level and 1 piece burn baby burn. The hot was spicyyy! Inside was clean and had lots of seating. Also offered bar style seating where you can see them making your food . I want to return to try the wrap And he wants to try a chicken sandwich

The girl at the front was really sweet and kind, which made for a nice first impression. When I arrived, the staff seemed a bit busy and unaware that I was there for a scheduled review, so the beginning was a little bumpy. Additionally, it took about 43 minutes for our food to arrive, which felt quite long. 10/10 The Crimson Sandwich + Fries - What truly saved the experience was the food. It was incredibly delicious. The sandwich was the biggest chicken sandwich I've ever seen in my life. It honestly felt like we got a full chicken sandwich plus a chicken strip with how much chicken we got on that patty. The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The coleslaw balanced it out really well, and you can choose your preferred spice level. The fries were good, but nothing particularly memorable as the chicken sandwich was definitely the star of the meal. 10/10 Mac and Cheese - I love mac and cheese, and this one did not disappoint. It was super cheesy and made a delicious pairing with the chicken sandwich. Cost - The Crimson Sandwich $14.00, Fries $6.00, Mac and Cheese $6.00.

This is the best Nashville style hot fried chicken that I've had in LBC. Much better than Dave's. Parking at this location can be tough because of multiple restaurants. Service is quick and friendly. The prices are decent. The food is excellent. The chicken is perfectly fried and still juicy inside. I tried medium which was not hot at all, so next time I will try the hot or extra hot one. The fried onion was great but very hard to eat! If you are a fan of hot fried chicken, you need to check them out.

We were in town for the week and were craving a chicken sandwich. We found this spot across our way and decided to give it a go. The customer service was on point. Very informative since it was our first time. We ordered the two chicken sliders that came with a scoop of crinkle fries for $18! We also ordered the blooming onion which was amazing. The sauce the sandwiches and blooming onion came with is amazing. The chicken is flavorful. Glad we stopped by! Will be stopping by again when we return.

*Update: Their manager was really nice and responsive when I reached out. Bumping it up a star. --- *cue the ultra sad violin music* It takes a lot to get me to write tragedy on Yelp, but like...our crimson onion was like 1/2 uncooked, with like the core of the onion still intact. Pretty sure it would have crunched had I bitten it. After years and years of hype and social media influence, a pillar of raw onion in the middle of my Crimson Onion broke my heart. The sandwiches were delicious BUT our boxes weren't labeled so we had to play spicy chicken roulette -- which I lost, making the whole situation even more sad. Luckily the food was delicious (minus the straight up onion column), but the experience overall was kind of a major bummer.

If you are in the mood for a good chicken sandwich, Crimson Coward is worth visiting. I ordered The Crimson, their signature sandwich, with a side of fries. The sandwich was incredibly fresh. I could practically hear the hot oil crackling. It was also huge. The chicken hung so far past the bun that I could have made a second sandwich with it. Most importantly, it was delicious. I chose mild since I was not sure how hot their spice levels were, and I was on my work break, so I did not want to test my limits. I guess that makes me the coward in this scenario. My coworker might be allergic to capsicum, so she chose Country Style, which has zero heat but is still full of flavor. The fries were tasty as well. They were crispy, fresh, and well seasoned, which made them a perfect complement to the sandwich. For those who care, they offer Pepsi products. I served myself a half sweet tea and half pink lemonade mix, which was the perfect drink to go with my meal. There were a few tables available, and the AC was nice and cold. That is definitely helpful if you order something super spicy. The staff were very friendly, although I think they could use a bit more help. Only two people were running the entire store during lunch. One person took orders while the other prepared them. This did not affect my visit too much, but I can see it becoming an issue if they get any busier. Everything is made fresh, and hiring at least one more person would likely improve the experience. All in all, this place is great and definitely worth a visit.

The Crimson sandwich hot; some fries and a waffle piece that were being shared!

Finally got to try this place after they added their Long Beach location--in the past several years Long Beach sort of exploded with Nashville hot chicken spots. Crimson Coward knows what it's doing and is a great addition to the arsenal! What I like is that their menu isn't overwhelmingly large, which makes it easy to choose. They mostly pretty much have tenders and some wings, although the sandwich is nice in that it is not just a tender slapped onto a bun (although they do have a slider that is that style). Something you might not see off the menu (but apparent from pictures/once you try to order) is that the tender combos etc. come with some comeback sauce, so don't accidentally order extra. Personally I got the Crimson sandwich with Hot level spicy and it is pretty spicy--kicked my ass pretty good but still tasty. Most places seem to be skimping out on the spice a little bit over the years so glad to know the spice is still potent here! I would probably stick with mild if you're afraid of going too spicy though since I can totally see medium still being pretty intense. I like that they have fried pickles which you don't see around too often; the mac and cheese was nice and creamy and pretty flavorful. I tried a piece of the waffle (you get 4 pieces with an order) and it was nice and chewy and dense--like a lot of chicken and waffles, don't expect it to be crispy! They serve it with a side of maple syrup. I ordered for pickup but eating 15 minutes later the food still tasted fresh and warm. Would definitely come back if craving Nashville hot again! The inside seating is really nice and the vibes are great too. Service was fast and really friendly, and my pickup order was in and out in minutes.

If it was just the chicken, this would get a 4 star but the overall was not great. We wanted Nashville hot chicken but didn't want to drive to get Howlin Rays and I think that place in the LBX Hangar is just average. So you order on a tablet which is convenient but their tablet isn't designed to customize orders well so that was a bummer. We got the straps, cole slaw, and fried pickles. The pickles and fries were WAY over-salted. Some were inedible and others, if you rubbed the salt off were OK. That was a pretty big issue. Pretty much ruined the fried pickles for me. The cole slaw was, in contrast, super bland. Maybe my taste buds got messed up with all the salt but this was a very bland cole slaw and I don't recommend you order it. What saved this place and led to a decent rating is the chicken was very good. Really well cooked, very crispy on the outside, tender inside. The Nashville hot chicken flavors were spot on with a nice blend of heat, salt, and a little bit of sweet. Not quite Howlin Rays but better than a lot of spots around town. The restaurant is small with just a line of tables that could seat 4 per table but it's bright and a comfortable place to eat. I'd go back for the chicken but would either skip the sides unless they can season it less.

Menu of great food

Second time coming here at it's the best spot on the long beach area side , very friendly and welcoming people at this place. I recommend coming here !

There's nothing like eating a Nashville hot chicken at Jay Bird's inside of the Hangar (Long Beach,…read moreCalifornia). i've came here twice already. Let me tell you, this is a very good spot if you want quick casual food, and that's tasty. During my 1st visit.... I ordered the chicken sandwich (mild heat) and fries... with extra comeback sauce aside. I must say, this gonna be the tastiest chicken sandwich I've tasted. Chicken is cooked perfectly: With the extra sauce, I was able to enjoy it alot more. For the 2nd visit, mac daddy and fries (chicken sandwich with mac and cheese). I normally don't eat chicken sandwich with mac and cheese, but it looks real good. Sure enough, it was delicious. Service is quick and great. Overall.... if you good food inside the hangar, this is your best bet.

Jay Bird's Chicken - Mac Daddy Sandwich Review 2.5/5 stars…read moreI went in hyped for their signature Mac Daddy--a Nashville hot chicken sandwich topped with mac & cheese, comeback sauce, and served on a brioche bun (usually with spicy fries on the side). It's one of their most popular items, and plenty of people rave about the juicy chicken and creative twist. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The chicken itself was mediocre at best--decently crispy on the outside and juicy enough, but it lacked that bold, flavorful punch you expect from real Nashville hot spots. The seasoning felt muted compared to places like Howlin' Rays, Dave's, or even Prince's back in Nashville. It just didn't have the same depth or soul in the spice blend. The "hot" level was a big letdown too. I went for some heat, but there was barely any burn or lingering kick--it was more like mild cayenne vibes than anything that lives up to the Nashville hot name. Same issue with the tenders; they were fine texturally but underwhelming in flavor and spice. The mac & cheese topping was okay--creamy and cheesy--but it didn't elevate the sandwich much. Overall, it felt like a gimmicky add-on rather than a game-changer, and the whole thing came across as average fast-casual fried chicken rather than standout hot chicken. If you're craving legit flavorful, fiery Nashville-style chicken in the LA area, I'd probably skip Jay Bird's and hit up one of the heavier hitters instead. Solid concept, but execution was just meh this time. Maybe consistency varies by location or day, but based on this visit: not worth a repeat for me.

***UPDATE FOLLOWING DIANA M'S *EDITED* RESPONSE***…read more After deleting her prior response to this review, she is now just focusing on the complaint about the online service fee. I never suggested that it was a "hidden fee", I just pointed out that it is a very high fee for ordering online. As pointed out before, ordering online directly from a restaurant does not usually incur a fee, let alone a $6 fee. If Diana feels that ordering online is so onerous, then maybe she should deactivate that feature and encourage her customers to phone in their orders. Diana should also consider not badgering customers that did not have a good experience with her restaurant and consider taking some classes in Customer Service 101. It's not a good way to run a business and the fastest way to lose customers. ***UPDATE FOLLOWING DIANA M's RESPONSE*** It's unfortunate that the owner responded with excuses and condescension. A simple "Hey, sorry for the mishap, we will make sure it won't happen again" would have sufficed. At least that way, she likely would have had a returning customer since the food is good. But now, no way Jose. And the $5.00 online service fee is egregious. I order quite a bit online and always try to order directly through the restaurants website to avoid fees. I don't know if any other restaurants that charge fees to order online unless there is a delivery involved. --------------------------- Well, not sure what to say. We put in an online order last night, which went through with a $4.95 service fee. (We ordered through their direct site rather than a third party sight to save on fees) If that wasn't bad enough, I showed up at the designated pick up time, and the place was closed. WTF? About an hour later, we were refunded our money, but why is the website taking orders and collecting payments when you're not even open? Talk about inconvenience. And clearly their posted operating hours are inconsistent.

I recently stopped by and was honestly impressed, especially with the portion sizes and flavor. I ordered the two-tender combo, and right away I noticed these weren't your average tenders--they were jumbo. Thick, crispy, and cooked just right. The outside had that perfect crunch while the inside stayed juicy and tender. You also get to pick your heat level, which is clutch whether you like it mild or want that real Nashville kick. The combo came with Texas toast, pickles, and their signature comeback sauce. The Texas toast was buttery and soft, perfect for balancing out the spice. The pickles added that tangy bite that cuts through the richness of the chicken, and the comeback sauce tied everything together--it's creamy, slightly tangy, and honestly addicting. I also ordered the Cluckin' fries, which come loaded with their comeback sauce and your choice of heat on the chicken. These were a whole meal on their own. Crispy fries topped with flavorful chicken and sauce--it's messy in the best way possible. I gave their mac & cheese a try too--it was okay, not bad, but definitely not the standout compared to everything else. Stick to the chicken and fries and you'll be happy. Pro tip: let your friends order extra pickles... you're gonna want more once you start eating. Overall, Cluck and Blaze delivers on flavor, portion size, and that classic Nashville hot chicken experience. The mini-pak ($22.99) consists of one whole, chopped up chicken with sides of beans, potato salad, and chicken rice. It comes with tortillas and salsa. The one outstanding thing about the meal was the well crisped and flavorful chicken skin. As for the meat, the dark thigh meat was really good, the white meat OK, but the drumstick meat was dry/gummy/mealy. And the chicken size was about the one that comes from a regular grocery store (not Costco). I liked the potato salad, as the potato pieces were chopped pretty fine, and the chicken rice did have chicken pieces in it, but wasn't particularly flavorful. The beans were bland, and the tortillas even more so. There is a more famous grilled chicken chain, that is closer, cheaper, and somewhat better tasting for me. Always good to try new places though.

Serving up Louisiana style fried chicken in the LA area, Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken has over…read more100 locations throughout the US, though none in Louisiana itself. Our group of four had a chance to stop by for an early dine-in dinner, and found the chicken to well prepared and tasty. Originally founded in 1976 in Los Angeles by a enterprising franchisee who wanted to create his own fast food brand, Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken soon became very popular with LA residents. As sometimes happens with immigrant communities by word of mouth and 'paying it forward', the burgeoning Cambodians began to be the majority owners of franchisees, until it resulted in the brand being sold to a Cambodian in 2009. Considering the largest concentration of Cambodians outside of Cambodia is in Long Beach, California, I wanted to try this particular location. They also sell donuts here, and my credit card bill actually listed the donut shop as the vendor...this for me is not a selling point, but was not noticeable during our visit. It's a walk-up set-up, where you order/pay for your food through security windows. We ordered a 12-piece family combo for $35.45, which included 3 pieces of breast/thigh/wing/leg, 2 small orders of fries, a coleslaw and 6 rolls. They also sell fried catfish and shrimp, so got a 4 pc shrimp ($3.85). They only sell drinks by cans or bottles, so got 4 cans of Coke/Pepsi/Squirt. It is clearly stated that each order is fried fresh, taking about 20 minutes. Our order was ready in 15 minutes, and we decided to dine-in (a small makeshift outdoor dining area with temporary tables was set-up). The chicken was well brined and had been fried well (leaving plenty of space between the chicken), with the outer coat being crunchy with a little bit of spice. For me it tasted very similar to the popular national chain, but with more consistency. The 'small' fries were not that at all, but very large...with one being enough to feed the four of us. The fries looked underdone, but were not. There were no condiments available, so the saving grace was the thin hot sauce that you could dip your fries and chicken into. The rolls were forgettable, and the coleslaw was grocery store quality (which I actually like). In fact, the chicken and sides reminded me of what you could get at a grocery store deli, except always getting the chicken fresh, instead of ones that have been fried too many to a basket and sitting too long under a heat lamp. Freshness definitely matters here. There was plenty of food for the 4 of us, with us taking half of the meal home. It reheated very well, providing us a good lunch the following day.

Shlap Muan Chicken Wings is a Khmer-style (Cambodian) chicken wing shop located in Long Beach and…read morethey recently opened another location in Monrovia. This Long Beach location was ranked #11 on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025 ( https://www.yelp.com/article/top-100-us-restaurants-2025 ) and was also featured on Yelp's Top Places to Eat in Los Angeles County in 2024 ( https://www.yelp.com/collection/aZNpF_pkeP4dRlKMoIVabw/Top-100-Places-to-Eat-in-LA-County-2024 ) and 2025 ( https://www.yelp.com/collection/7W0mtzOd0VN51jeIAL2_Bg/Top-100-Places-to-Eat-in-LA-County-2025 ). Customers can also find Shlap Muan Chicken Wings at Smorgasburg at ROW DTLA every Sunday. [Parking]: Easy and free strip mall parking. [Atmosphere]: The shop has indoor tables but no TVs, so don't come here expecting to watch sports games. [Ordering]: I placed an online pickup order and my food was ready 5 minutes before my specified pickup time. [Menu]: For wings, there are pan sauces and wok sauces. Their popular Dirty Elvis flavor falls under the wok sauce category (wings tossed in a sweet and smoky caramel sauce). Each order of Dirty Elvis comes with a minimum of 10 wings, but customers can choose a split-flavor option with 5 pieces of Dirty Elvis and 5 pieces of another selected flavor with online orders. For Shlap Muan Wings (pan sauces), customers can order a minimum of 4 pieces per flavor and two highlighted flavors are Cambodian Dirt (lemon pepper) and Water Buffalo. *** Dirty Elvis (10 pieces total - Split Flavor on Cambodian Dirt - $16.00): Those 5 Dirty Elvis wings were absolutely amazing - crispy and saucy. The Cambodian Dirt (lemon pepper) wings were solid, but in hindsight I probably should have just doubled down and gone with all 10 pieces of Dirty Elvis. Shlap Muan Wings (4 Pieces - Water Buffalo, $6.50): The dipping sauce had a good spicy kick, but it definitely will not be everyone's cup of tea especially for people who (1) are not fans of Buffalo wings or (2) cannot handle a mild version of Sriracha spicy level. *** S-tier for the Dirty Elvis wings and A-tier for the Shlap Muan Wings. For anyone who is a fan of Korean fried chicken or even Vietnamese fried chicken like Mama Hieu's, then Shlap Muan Chicken Wings is definitely worth trying.

The interior is no frills, which means they prioritize focus on the food. I got the 2-3 peeps, which includes 16 wings and a large side. I got the garlic noodles, which was a solid and filling choice. There was an option to choose up to 3 flavors for the wings, so I went with Cambodian dirt and wet buffalo. Both were delicious! I will warn you that the buffalos is a bit spicier than expected, and tasted a bit different than what I had at their Smorgasburg booth. Nonetheless, I loved my meal. Overall, I love Shlap Muan's chicken wings. Service was also A+. I'll definitely be back
