Sweet lady with the pretty name, you made my night. I'm the Kiddo who came in late around 9 or 10. My kid had a bad day at school, and a bad day at work. He came home and made dinner, which then promptly fell on the floor. His shoulders just slumped. I said, let me get you some Dave's (He loves DHC). I was also tired from a very long day at work, but drove there after pre-ordering. As soon as I walked in, there's this huge smile at the counter asking what can she do for me. I told her my kid placed an order. She found it and asked would I like any sauce and I said, I don't know. It's for my kid and she said, "I got you!" And proceeded to load me up with sauces she knew my kid would like as we chatted. She seemed to know I had a rough day and was as genuinely kind as she could be, and I'm sure she had been working all day as well and yet, she lit up the store. Went to order the Mozzarella Sticks Meal that's been recently popular, but unfortunately it was highly disappointing. Extremely salty to the point I couldn't finish one! I discarded the rest ate the bread and side to balance out my tastebuds. The food I would say one out of 10 stars. But I gave a two because of the extremely kind and patient employee at the counter. She was an all star but very under staffed at the counter. She was doing what she could, but literally 7-10 ppl at counter waiting at a time isn't a good look. Customers were a lil rude being demanding. I will update and revisit my review, since I'll give credit to the Dave's feedback management. I was left so unsatisfied I submitted my feedback and answered with credit for an opportunity to try again. So I appreciate that. I went to a Lorde concert the other day, and as I was leaving and the street vendors were trying to sell me hot dogs, all I could think about was Dave's. So of course my friend and I found one on the way home and luckily it was open late and not crowded! It was a perfect setting for a late night snack and concert debrief. My only complaint was that this location doesn't have their cauliflower options. I'm not a vegetarian but sometimes I like to get those if I'm feeling something lighter. I ended up getting the two tender combo with medium spice and replaced the fries with mac and cheese. The medium spice is honestly not very spicy, but I feel like the next level up is too much for me at 1am in the morning. I love Dave's seasoning on their chicken because it is really flavorful! I cannot believe that I haven't found this place sooner. I spend more money at KFC or Popeyes for low quality food and poor customer service. The food here tasted great and customer service was exceptional. Usually those other chains charge me to substitute fries, but Dave's does it for free. And the service was great. Friendly. Answered my questions without sounding like they hated their job or annoyed. That's what I appreciate. Both times I've been here, so far the food has been consistent! I appreciate that the menu is straightforward and simple; I've tried the mild and medium and neither were too spicy to handle (which is great because I enjoy hot but can't take too much, shh). My server the first time was named Jessica and was awesome - she explained the menu clearly and recommended trying the one tender and one slider box to see what I like. Service the second time around was more of a miss because I couldn't hear half of what the associate - didn't catch his name - was saying. The meal also took a while to prepare, but it was tasty so I won't be too salty about it! Dave's seems to be a popular hangout spot for students from Cal State Long Beach. They're open till 2am (although I couldn't tell you if it's busy then, haha). There isn't a drive-thru at this particular Dave's. In terms of accessibility, watch your step since there's a small stair in front of the door. The restaurant is located in the corner of the strip mall with a Cava, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and In-N-Out, which means parking can get a little hectic if you're there at mealtime. Service was great. Since I'd never been here before, I wanted to dine in. I like medium heat and that's what I ordered, along with Raspberry Tea to wash down the heat a bit. They have a small patio area to sit and enjoy your food. Parking can be a bit tricky. The lot has an In/Out, Marshall's, Flame Broiler to name a few businesses. The flavor of the chicken was great. I went to Dave's Hot Chicken for the Free Slider deal!! I got the Single Slider with medium spice level. I have gotten a Single Slider with mild spice level, and I thought it didn't taste spicy at all. The medium spice level gives a little kick, but I think next time I'll go for a heavier spice level. Cheese is extra so I chose not to add cheese to my Single Slider. I do recommend trying the Dave's Sauce. The restaurant was really clean despite the amount of people walking in and out, sitting down, and standing in line. There's tons of seating, and there's two kiosks near the register that you can order from. The employees were all kind despite the busyness from the Free Slider deal on October 24 for Drake's birthday. Alicia H. took my order at the register, and she was super sweet! I was visiting Long Beach, and this spot had been on my radar for some time. But while I LOVE spicy fried chicken, I admit I was coming in with major bias. That's because I live in Nashville most of the year and spend the rest of my time in Los Angeles. In Nashville, we invented hot chicken in the '80s. And since the hot chicken craze exploded around 2010, there is no limit to the number of imposters out there trying to replicate Nashville hot chicken only to fail miserably. To defend our most famous dish, I was ready to rip Dave's apart and explain to my fellow Angelenos what real hot chicken should taste like. And then I took a bite of my first Dave's chicken tender, medium-spiced, and my mind was immediately changed. It's authentic. It's complex. It probably wouldn't make the top five best hot chicken joints in Nashville, but it would probably land solidly in the top ten. And that's a HUGE compliment! The Armenian superfecta who founded this chain must have sampled the real deal in Nashville, because their product is exceptionally reminiscent of what I eat frequently in Tennessee. Well done, boys! The only letdown is that every chicken joint in the South will offer bone-in chicken breasts, and Dave's is a chicken-tender-only place. But I can respect that game plan. It works. And the fries aren't bad either. Note: Other Dave's in Greater Los Angeles have higher ratings. So what's happening here? Pay careful attention to the negative reviews bringing down the average. I ordered the #4 slider spice level was hot and the tender spice level medium. Hot is the way to go, didn't taste much with medium--ordered extra pickles because yes. One thing---what's up with the sauce it doesn't really taste like much? I still ate it anyway. This location is way better than the one they had on 2nd St! This is way faster, cleaner, and better service. I appreciated the worker as they greeted us once we walked in and took our order right away. There were not a lot of people and our order came so fast!
