I normally only patronize independent coffee cafes, ones that have a single or few locations. The only big chain coffee place I will willingly visit is Peet's. This location is tucked into a corner of a plaza, The Shops at Rossmoor. I came here late on a weekday afternoon. This location has a dozen seats inside and a few tables with umbrellas outside. Every indoor table, most being two-tops, had a single visitor sitting at it. I realized that if I was going to sit down and relax while enjoying my coffee, I'd need to sit outside, even though it was a cloudy, chilly day. After a relatively short wait in a 4-person line, I ordered a hot vanilla latte and a salted chocolate chip cookie (the last one in the pastry case) from the congenial staff. My order came up quickly and I went outside and sat. The coffee was very hot, taking about 10 minutes before I could drink it (I'm admittedly a bit heat sensitive). The latte was okay, although the vanilla flavor was barely perceptible. The cookie was good, not the greatest nor was it disappointing; just okay. About the time I finished the cookie and the latte was drinkable, the clouds opened up and the rain poured down. I dashed to my car and had a few more sips before driving off. Later that night I got in my car and saw the half-full cup (or was it half empty?) still in my cup holder, never to be finished. read more

First time at Peet's Coffee in Seal Beach, and even though I was just tagging along with my coffee-obsessed brother, I really enjoyed it. It's in a small shopping center and usually busy, but parking is doable with a little patience. One of the highlights of this location is the outdoor seating area. There's a fountain and covered tables, which makes it a nice option if you want to sit outside without being in direct sun. We went midday and the space felt lively but comfortable. It was very clean, and I noticed outlets along the wall where you can plug in a laptop, which makes this a great spot if you want to get some work done or stay awhile. When we ordered, Alyssa was kind and patient while helping my brother with issues on his app. That level of attentiveness stood out. We ordered two pistachio lattes and a chocolate croissant. The pistachio latte was delicious. Not too sweet, with a great pistachio flavor and little sweet, almost caramel-like pieces on top that added a nice bit of texture. There was a mix-up with our order, but Christine handled it perfectly and remade everything without hesitation. Friendly, calm, and no stress at all. My son has hooked me on Peet's Caramel Frappe with whipped cream. When they're done right, they can't be beat. We come nearly every day when he's home, and it's our favorite simple pleasure. The service is always good: attentive, friendly, and unfailingly polite, and this location has both inside and particularly nice outside seating (though we never take advantage). The only constructive criticism is to figure out a way to standardize the making of this drink. As it is, the frappes are hit-or-miss: when they're good, they're out of this world, but when they're not good (watery/thin and/or flavorless), it's very disappointing. There is a female employee (I'm so sorry I've never gotten your name!) who is an expert frappe maker (you know who you are!), so maybe she could train the other employees? Anyway, she's a gem. I love having a convenient alternative to Starbucks, and Peet's has earned my continued business. read more

Stumbled into Peet's Coffee while doing some random shopping at the stores nearby. Since it was cold and rainy outside, my husband and I ordered a hot caramel macchiato and their version of a 'medicine ball'. My caramel macchiato was good. It wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be, or in comparison to other coffee shop's versions, but it was still good. I'm not sure how their 'medicine ball' was but my husband said it was good and helped with his mild cold. This location seemed to have a lot of people who were there to work/study. Since the start of this year I have become a big Peet's coffee guy since Starcrooks installed automatic coffee makers (that I call vending machines) in their stores making bad coffee. This Peet's is fine, but not my favorite. It's in a bland strip shopping center not anywhere near the actual Seal Beach and Pier--which is a great place to hang out. The employees here are okay but when I was in--I was not sensing the enthusiasm like at other Peet's. I prefer the location and atmosphere of Peet's in Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Irvine or Newport Beach much better. I would have to be in this area for something else to come back here--but there is no reason you should not come here--the coffee is just as good. And you can sit outside and watch people shop. I really love Peet's. And on this particular day, husband and I stopped in before grabbing lunch nearby. It was packed! indoor and outdoor! But we were only 2nd in line and the order came through mighty quickly. Impressive. (You can always order in advance via app for even faster service) We both ordered the Havana Cappuccino. It's amazing. If you ever had a cortadito (cuban espresso with a little steamed milk, usually sweetened to your taste) you may fall in love with this coffee drink. It is lighly sweetened with condensed milk and topped with steamed milk and cinnamon. Oh my, not too sweet either and may become your new favorite! Service is friendly and welcoming. I placed an online order and the website and outdoor signage stated the store closes at 7 pm. I arrived at 645 pm. The doors were locked with keys hanging inside of the door lock. I called the location twice with no answer. I knocked several times. I did see a worker in the back but was ignored. Subsequently, about 700 pm, a female worker came to the door and told me that I had to move away from the door because they were leaving and going to turn on the security system. Question then for owners and district managers... what were you employees doing in the back for that time? The shop was already clean in front so why state that you close at 7 pm when doors are locked 15 mins prior and shop already closed down? Are you actually managing your people or does your sign need to be changed. Disappointed in the quality of service, the slight rudeness of the female employee, and being ignored by the other employee after he made eye contact with me. Unfortunately the poor customer experience will not have me coming back and I will give my income and sales to the local coffee shop up the street (burnt ember) that has great customer service and fantastic coffee. read more

Have been coming here since I was in elementary school and the iced vanilla lattes are always sooo good! They're the perfect balance of bitter espresso and sweet vanilla. I also love Peet's matcha lattes and the Black Tie, which is a unique cold brew condensed milk drink! The food is really nice too, I especially love the Chorizo breakfast wrap and vegan bagel sandwich. Service has always been super friendly every time I come here! Out of the Peets I've visited, this one is my favorite location. There's a really pretty outdoor seating area but the indoor seating is great too. So I've been here twice and both times I have had nothing but a positive experience. I'm a huge coffee addict, have to admit I patronize the other huge coffee giant. However, sometimes it's good to explore other options. Seeing on Facebook postings about an horchata drink here just had to push me to come in and try a nice refreshing drink. Customer service was amazing, my interaction from beginning to end was great. The employee recommended several drinks before I got the horchata drink. Second time around I got the matcha drink in strawberry which was heavenly. The barista recommended I download the app and it tracks my visits and I can save for free drinks. I stop at this Peet's every other month or so to re-up my grounds for making coffee at home, and usually get a little to go drink as a treat. I've never had a bad experience but this last time, Christine just blew me away with her customer service! Not only helping me with making sure I could use my rewards from the app, but recognizing a regular, calling them by their name and chatting it up with them. She was so genuine and authentic and I so appreciated that and felt the need to leave this review! I've ordered delivery through their app and it's always been a smooth process. I'm always thankful for that no contact delivery, especially when the order is correct and arrives on time. It definitely helps to save time. My favorite thing to get here is the everything plant based sandwich. It's a small everything bagel with just egg, vegan cheese, and beyond sausage. Can I make this at home technically? Yes. Is it simpler to just order it sometimes? Also yes. It's a solid breakfast sandwich option, and I'm thankful they offer it. They also have a vegan blueberry muffin and a peanut butter cookie as plant based options, so that's awesome that they have those staples as well. So far for coffee, I've tried their iced horchata cold brew oat latte, and it was super strong! I got a medium and it tasted like really strong espresso with little notes of horchata here and there. If you like strong coffee drinks, I highly recommend this one. Definitely check out their app for ordering ahead or for delivery.
