What a great first impression! This was my first time at Goodfellows and the lady at the register was so kind and helpful. That is hard to come by these days. Even a hello greeting is rare. She seemed happy to be there and I am grateful our mornings crossed paths! I don't get her name but the name Bridget was on my receipt. I got a Spanish latte which was great and the recommended bagel sandwich which was also delicious. I didn't realize there was so egg on it but it was still very good! All of the staff are incredible here and noticeably attentive to their work and guests. I have not tried all of the drinks here but what I've tried thus far has been amazing. DON'T GO HERE. I'm surprised that this place has as many stars as it does on yelp, given their poor level of service. I live in Cypress and generally avoid this place as it's not very good (the coffee was much better under the prior ownership, Java Connection), but it is so close to my house in Sorrento that I decided to stop by last week. After receiving my vanilla latte, I asked the barista if she could add a pump of vanilla, as it tasted very bitter. She told me in a rude tone that they charge for extra vanilla but that there is syrup on the shelf which I could add myself. I gave her an incredulous look and told her I didn't have this problem with the hazelnut, and that I could pay the difference. She proceeded to pump some vanilla into a paper cup and hand it to me. Yes..she expected me to adjust my own vanilla latte. She then stated that next time I need to tell them in advance that I would like it sweeter. What a joke...there will be no next time! Goodfellows needs a basic lesson on how to run a coffee shop business. When you charge $7-8 for a cup of coffee, you are selling what is known as a CUSTOM drink. In simple terms, this means you make adjustments to make it right, rather than telling customers to fix it themselves. This is standard across coffee shops. This is an absolute ludicrous level of service compared to any other coffee shop in the area or anywhere else. I would much rather go to the Starbucks inside Ralphs or Bunny Cha next door, than ever set foot in this joke of an establishment again. I regret having given my hairstylist a $50 gift card for this place last Christmas, which I did only because it is convenient for her. Following this incident, I did reach out to let them know what my experience had been, but I received no response. We can only hope this place goes out of business soon, and that a real coffee shop opens in its place! What a waste of limited Cypress retail space! In considering the behavior of the barista as well as the response of the business in contrast to their response to other yelp complaints, this appears to likely have been a racially motivated microaggression backed by management. Therefore, if you are a person of color (as much of this community is) or care about how all people are treated in general, it would be in your best interest to avoid this business. UPDATE: In response to Goodfellows, of course everyone's tastes are different; thus the concept of a custom drink. And no, the rude barista wasn't offering explanations or solutions per se. This was a brief exchange in which she was insistent on my adjusting my drink myself, rather than taking it back and adjusting it or offering to remake it. The cost was not the issue, but rather the complete lack of customer service. If you have ever been to another coffee shop before, you would understand what a poor level of service this is. And, I won't be needing that refund. Consider it a donation- maybe you guys could use my $8 to subsidize the cost of making some customers a decent custom coffee. read more

Asked for less ice and cup was his over halfway full. What the heck?! Tasted bitter, it was bad. Also super sweet, you couldn't taste the coffee. On top of that it left a bad aftertaste from the syrup and so much of it. $6.75 for a small honey lavender latte and $7.25 for a large. We asked for easy ice and she told us less ice means space at the top, they won't fill the drink fully. Didn't know leave meant 2 or more inches of nothing at the top! They charge for everything, upgraded milk, sold form, whatever else. And prices expensive to begin with. If they give a few less ice cubes, they can't give me a splash more of whole milk? Our cups were just over half full! That shows how much drink they're really making you to begin with, which is nothing... then to taste bitter and overly sweet top of it? They play moody pumpkin latte girl music, I guess you call it indie music? Idk. People hanging out in there on their laptop like in Starbucks and other coffee shops. Not worth the money. I had croissant from Trader Joe's that heat up in my toaster oven that tasted better than that nonsense. They're passing off as croissant. Cute spot, warm service, coffee is good. I am new to the area. Not very many coffee shops around here from what I've seen, grateful there is a good local one! I usually stop by Friday mornings before run club. I always get a gingerbread flat white and a small hot coffee with whipped cream. Something about having 2 cups of coffee at 7am. Very affordable menu. Can always count on good music playing. Today I tried a chocolate croissant warmed up, that was delicious. The space is very clean, organized, and inviting. I have been visiting this establishment for at least two months. Throughout this period, the management and staff have generally been accommodating, with the exception of one individual. This individual, Claudia, I questioned why my beverage was smaller than usual, explaining that it was because I requested light ice. She also indicated that requesting additional milk would incur a charge of .50. It is important to note that during my past visits, I have never encountered an issue with my drink. When I attempted to clarify that management has consistently prepared my drinks without concern or issue, she dismissed my explanation. I also tried to discuss my concern with another barista to gain insight into the reasoning behind the light beverage request. However, she responded with the same perspective as Claudia. At this point, Claudia interjected, becoming defensive and unprofessional, speaking to me in a rude manner. She interrupted both myself and the other employee while I was speaking. Such conduct does not create a welcoming atmosphere or foster customer satisfaction. Despite remaining calm and composed, Claudia persisted in displaying a defensive and inconsiderate attitude. I ordered the Mexican Mocha, Honey Rose Latte, blueberry muffin, mini bear claw, and a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. I recommend getting your lattes half sweet because they were too sweet for my liking. I was disappointed because both lattes were lukewarm as if they were sitting out for 20 minutes, so unfortunately they weren't hot. The pastries were just okay, nothing I would order again. I bring my daughter in (almost) every sunday to grab coffee for my wife and I. The staff is always friendly and the coffee is great. For my wife it's a Strawberry Matcha or Yuzu Matcha Tonic, for me it's a good old Vanilla Latte. My daughter loves the muffins. Drinks are decent and I liked the rooster breakfast burritos they had here for some time. I recently came back for those burritos and they switched it to Solrad burritos.
