First visit on a Sunday at 10 a.m.. All about supporting local businesses but to run out of basic bagel flavors and 1 muffin in the bakery case is disappointing. Would like to see this business thrive but at least have a decent supply of bakery items. No prices on food board at all. This is a great local coffee shop! The staff was friendly and welcoming! My wife and I tried their specials, Iced Chocolate Covered Cherry Mocha and an Iced Strawberry Shortcake. These were really delicious and reasonably priced! This is right next to the Fairfield by Marriott Los Alamitos, which is how we came across it! First time visiting this location. Business is located in a shared parking lot, which can get very full fast. There are two entry points one from the back of the lot with a cool sign and one facing Los Al. The inside is very spacious and adequate seating without feeling on top of one another. I did visit at 11am, was able to find parking easily and a table although there was a crowd. I ordered a 562 to drink (yummy) and had a lox sandwich on ciabatta as they had already run out of plain bagels. (Hence my 4 stars) It was still very good. I ordered no capers and the chef put capers on accident I mentioned I could scrape them off but she built a new sandwich- this showed me their customer service is at the forefront for them. I drive by this place all the time and never realized it's bigger and more modern inside than you'd expect. It's clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed, with cute merch and windows all around. I loved sitting there and just watching the traffic pass by. It was Valentine's Day, and they had an old-school R&B playlist playing, which really elevated the vibe. What I Ordered I came in knowing exactly what I wanted: an almond croissant and an iced chai. The croissant was solid, warm, and flaky like it's supposed to be. The iced chai with almond milk was a little on the sweet side, but still really good and I finished it happily. The Service The service was the real standout. This was my first visit, and the guy behind the counter was genuinely welcoming. Not forced, not scripted. When I mentioned it was my first time, he upgraded the size of my drink, which was such a cute little touch. He also signed me up for their rewards program and let me know my 12th drink is free. This quiet coffee cafe sits on a corner with parking in a small lot behind the building (I never saw signage saying the lot was for Local Grind but I'm assuming it's okay). The interior has a dozen tables and the vibe is quiet and minimalistic in the decor department. I found the workers, both the person taking orders and the barista, to have personalities reflecting the weather that day - gloomy. I ordered off the seasonal menu on the wall, a hot gingerbread latte, and chose a cinnamon roll (yes, heated please). After five minutes my order was ready. There was one open table with a single chair that I grabbed. The gingerbread latte was pretty darn good. It really did taste like gingerbread with a little spice to it. After drinking half of it I realized the flavor was getting bolder so I stirred it up to even out the taste (looked like whatever they used to flavor the drink was settling in the bottom of the cup). The cinnamon roll was above average with an emphasis on the cinnamon (yay!) although the outer ring of the roll was a bit tough. Probably a 3.5 experience that I'm rounding up. Perfect study spot in the area! I love how they have build your own bagels with so many options. I really liked the sausage they offer and the jalapeño cheddar bagel. I always drive by here but never had the chance to step in until today. What a lovely cafe!!!! I had an iced americano and a ham/cheese warm croissant. My post workout treat coffee , vanilla latte with 1 pump vanilla only is good. Nothing crazy but pretty standard and doesn't need extra shots or anything to be good. Tried their turkey sandwich today. Was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. When I first saw it I thought it might have too much tomato pesto, but it's actually amazing. The only downside is i wish it was bigger for the price , or cheaper because of the size. This sandwich was $15. On the other hand it's about the same price as Panera so I don't mind paying it. Well I'm sure that Laura and Robert, the owners, will love to know that the snippy blonde with a bun on top of her head who works there, is proud of the fact that she "doesn't answer the phone when she's busy with customers that are actually in the store". There is plenty of parking in the back lot and two entrances - one from the lot and a front entrance on Los Alamitos Blvd & Briggeman Dr. Plenty of seating with soft lighting and neutral tones. I ordered their 16oz hot Mocha and their Lox on a jalapeño bagel. The total was about $20. There was a short queue when I had arrived, and my order was ready in 10-15 minutes. I'm pretty bias about Lox Bagels (I can't remember the last time I've had a bad one). This one was a bit heavy on the capers and I wouldn't have been able to tell it was a jalapeño bagel if my eyes were closed, but overall I enjoyed it. (Update: I went home and scaled it and it barely met 6 oz). Location: corner shop, near the post office. It's at the same plaza as a dance studio and nail salon. Parking in rear. Menu: coffee, tea, food, hot/cold. Saw some bakery goods and bagels. Experience: it looks nice inside, lots of seating for a coffee shop. There's some goods for sale on the side, like mugs and stickers for sale. Unfortunately, overall, I had a bad experience ): I ordered the macchiato (only comes in 12 oz), and when she asked if I wanted oat milk, I said "whole milk" but they gave me the oat milk anyway. The screen did not read "oat milk" so I assumed it was tax that I was seeing. My fault was that I didn't look at my printed receipt which did say oat milk. It was also kinda hard to hear when the order came out too. When I got my cup... it was half empty. I have a very hard time accepting this was 12 oz. More like 8 oz? For $5? Idk. Maybe this was a fluke.. but for now, disappointed. I'm actually really unsure if I'll return. It tasted nice but I think it was a bit too light on the coffee flavor. I was impressed with all the seating and light from the large windows. They have a small shopping section off to one side from which you can purchase shirts, totes, cups, cards, etc. Oh, and I ordered the "funky monkey" latte; it has peanut-butter, chocolate, and banana flavor.
