This was such a cute coffee spot! The interior is well decorated and very modern. There isn't much parking around so we ended up parking at a nearby lot and walked a few minutes. We were immediately greeted and the workers kindly told us about their menu and what was popular. I ended up going with one of their most popular, the ube latte. The presentation of the drink was gorgeous and the ube flavors were strong! The coffee wasn't the smoothest I've had and the drink is definitely on the sweeter side. I'd love to try more of their menu!
I had a few hours to kill, so I searched for a spot that'd make me a pourover. And bingo, Memento was here! Loved the understated signage and labels around the shop, and dug the chill vibe. Chill staff too! I chatted with a barista to find the right cup to get, then enjoyed a brew from Newbery St. (beans from Thailand!). It came out super delicious, and I enjoyed my purchase in air conditioned bliss. Pourover coffee not your thing? There's batch brew, and you can always get a cappuccino. Or matcha. Or a Thai tea. Pastries if you're hungry. Memento was an unexpected *MEMENTO*. I found out they're part of this year's "The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops" list, and this tracks. My only complaint? Wish the music wasn't as loud. Outlets if you need them. Play Pokemon Go? Memento is near a Pokemon gym.
Overpriced for the most mid coffee "experience" Decided to try a pourover and didn't even register the price until I sat down. IT WAS $13!!!! The menu said MP like it was a piece of lobster... They provided only enough coffee to fill up half the miniature cup (the water is in an espresso cup for size reference). The worst part was that the coffee was disgusting and definitely tasted like they used old beans. Originally came here to buy coffee beans but the roast dates were 3/18 and 3/30. It's already May and these beans would not hold the same flavor as they did in March. 0/5 experience, would NOT recommend

WOW. Incredible coffee spot. It may not look like anything from the outside but love their drinks!! We drove quite a bit out over the weekend to try this spot, was stuck in traffic for almost 2 hrs and it was a hot day. Found street parking luckily, especially since they don't have their own parking lot but the street didn't seem too busy. Took a few minutes to look over the menu and I knew I had to order the Ube Latte. My bf got the Memento Latte. Drinks came out really quick and such beautiful presentation. The memento latte looked a bit light but somehow still very strong! Flavors in both drinks were amazing!! They 100% nailed the ube latte and this was well worth the drive. Came in on a Saturday Morning after walking my dog. Parking is on the street, it's kind of an interesting location like off the side of a road very easy to miss as you turn in! The inside is nice, bright, clean aesthetic. They have a variety of pastries and drinks. We ended up getting the honey latte and matcha latte. Both of the drinks were made quickly despite the rush. I really enjoyed my matcha latte, it was not too sweet and had the perfect umami nutty balance. The honey latte was also great, very smooth. Will def be back to try the other drinks as well!.

Ube latte made with Strauss milk and Ube Halaya from a jar?! Count us in! Their Memento latte and ube latte were both tasty without being too sweet. That is the highest compliment in the Asian community - not too sweet is 100! Loved the simplicity of their decor too. Maximized seating in a pretty small space. The staff are so so so nice too and you can tell they all get along well in a very professional way. Great spot!
Came in today after leaving the dentist since it's down the street. I've heard of this place for awhile and passed by it a few times but haven't had the chance. They have small parking lot and mainly street parking. I like the ambiance inside. Minimal aesthetics. Drinks had good flavor. Hard for me to pass up anything Ube. Truly, enjoy trying places that have Ube inspired drinks. I got Memento Latte for the wifey & I got the Ube. Also, Complimented the barista because I appreciated his hat. "Rich in Life". Small reminder for ourselves and others.
First time being here as it was suggested by a friend. Ube latte tastes good, you can taste the ube halaya as well as the presence of coffee in the drink. It also looked nice inside to hang out with friends. There were a lot of them behind the counter so service was fast.
Such a beautiful coffee shop with delicious drinks and pastries. There's parking right in front and along the street, easily assemble parking behind also We had the Ube latte and the Matcha latte. Both were very good in flavor. Ube has fresh chunks along the cup and tasted like real Ube versus the artificial flavored very sweet Ube sometimes that shops have. Matcha was nicely earthy and not bitter even with no sweetener. Also tried the guava pastry which had fresh chunks of guava inside and was a beautiful croissant like texture that was perfect. Memento takes a very minimalist approach, and it shows in both their space and their coffee. The setup is clean and intentional, with books around to read and a radio and sound system in the corner that really set a laid-back, chill vibe. It's the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy the atmosphere, and actually take your time with your drink. I tried the ube latte with oat milk as a first-timer and it was excellent. It's sweet but not overpowering, with the coffee perfectly balanced -- not overly sweet and not bitter. Super smooth and very approachable. I also had the Memento latte, which was just as solid: simple, comforting, and well made. Shoutout to Sergio, who took our order -- super friendly and welcoming and really added to the experience. Service was great overall, the vibes were on point, and the location makes it an easy spot to relax and enjoy quality coffee. Definitely a place I'd come back to.
this was one of the last local coffee places i tried during my last few adventures around long beach, and i think it was a great way to end my time being around this city! all of the drinks sounded yummy here, but the ube latte really caught my eye from the way they used ube halaya to the gorgeous presentation of the drink. i really loved the multiple ube layers to this drink, and the coffee itself was super smooth and not too bitter or strong. the store itself is super minimal and clean, and there are a good amount of tables and chairs to relax with your drink! there was a line when i came, but the workers were all super efficient with answering any customers questions and making the drinks. there isnt much parking directly outside the shop, but there are a few surrounding parking lots nearby. read more

Ugh I wish I liked it. Too weak of beans, too milky latte and the vanilla is homemade but it's not even the least bit strong. Overall a let down. Super simple menu so I was happy to not see a cereal mocha coco puff s'mores cheesecake cookie drink but if your menu is limited it should be great. read more
Memento coffee. Located on a fairly busy street. Luckily we got parking right in front on the street. I did not like how they have the menu on the counter where you wait in line. One more is needed on a screen or at the register. Got myself a memento latte which has coconut sugar and whipped milk. I had to add some simple syrup that's on the counter. After I did. This is a new coffee shop in East Long Beach. The coffee is excellent! Also, served in a real cup!! We also tried one of their Ube beverages, and it to was delicious This place is somewhat "minimalist" in decor. The sound bouncing off the hard surfaces make it a bit noisy. I think the addition of plants could go a long way in softening the atmosphere. I must say that the chairs are very comfortable I would add this to our weekly coffee rotation because the coffee is so good and the service was terrific! I love this type of coffee shop. Small, minimalist, simple menu, few specialties, high quality machinery and ingredients, and great coffee. Of course being our first time here we had to try their Memento iced latte and Ube iced latte. Both did not disappoint. I'd totally come here all the time if I didn't live far away but will definitely be here everyday while I'm visiting to try all their other offerings. read more

3.5 stars. Nice coffee spot. I had an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, which was pretty good. They make their own vanilla syrup in house. Service is fairly friendly and prompt, and the interior is clean and modern. Quite a lot of people studying or doing work. The old school music playing in the background (Beegees, Abba) was a nice touch. Would come back to try more drinks if I'm nearby. Note that parking is a very small lot consisting of five spots, though with some (potential) adjacent street parking. read more

I gave four stars because the coffee was great, but the customer service could have been better. We got attitude for suggesting a coffee sign or something outside that can be seen or distinguish the building because there's nothing that stands out to say coffee. No smiles or positive vibes. Hopefully, my experience will be a better one next time. read more
Been wanting to try this new place and coffee was good but portions were TINY! Located on a busy, small street, this place could be easy to miss so keep your eyes peeled. Parking lot is very small. Clean, minimalist aesthetic inside. Surprisingly spacious. Simple menu as well. Nice workers, not very engaged with customers tho. I ordered the Memento Latte with oat milk and it was good, nothing too special but good nonetheless. I did want it a bit sweeter so I added the coconut sugar that was by the barista station and it was better. Unfortunately, what got me was the latte not even filling up the entire cup. The froth/bubbles from the drink being shaken took up almost half of the cup. By the time it dissipated, you were left with like 50% of a drink. Super disappointed. I'm guessing this is the only drink that this happens with because the ube latte and mocha filled up their entire cups respectively but not this one which was weird. 3/5 Overall, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to try this place again just because my drink was not really anything special and the portion was deceiving. I paid for a cup of coffee that was halfway empty before I even took my first sip due to the excessive froth. read more
Quality and flavor! I ordered their iced ube latte and its layer with quality ingredients. Paid $7.76 after tax Tip: they dont have a big sign or anything when you're looking for the place just know its a white corner building by itself directly across the street from VONS. Street parking available Nice little space to do work and barstool seats available. They have a small menu on their counter so i recommend looking online for their items as well read more
Bright modern coffee & tea cafe. There are some tables & bar seating if you want to sit and enjoy your drink, and if you're not taking it to go they serve your drink in a real cup. Wish they had plates for the pastries as they are messy. The matcha latte is made with quality ingredients and was perfectly sweetened: not too sweet, not too bitter. You can also get it unsweetened if you prefer. I came back The day after my first visit for another one, which tells you how good it was. The kouign Amann came with passion fruit curd which was a lovely addition to this traditional pastry. I'd like to see some savory pastries/food options as they grow. read more
Quaint coffee shop on a business strip. LOve the minimalistic design with music lightly playing in the background . There is limited seating and parking. Perfect for those who love their order to go. Welcome to the neighborhood! I love what they've managed to build in a space originally occupied by a salon, creating a clean, modern space. Probably a wonderful coffee work-date spot, I felt slightly more like a grown up leaving from there. They've got a small menu on a display near the cash register, and I noticed that they had a few devices that allow you to smell the different coffees/teas they may have on offer. We tried: Memento Latte: Their namesake drink definitely did not shy away from the robust espresso flavor, and was lightly sweetened with coconut sugar and rounded out with the creaminess from the milk. It felt classy and went down slow. Iced Chocolate: Don't call this chocolate milk. This ain't no Nesquik. Think European-style drinking chocolate: semi-sweet, cacao-rich and slightly bitter, balanced out with milk. Definitely caffeinated. Good for adults and sophisticated tastes, maybe don't get it for your toddler. They also had some pastries in their case that definitely had that Nonna Mercato look, but I'm not sure. Either way, seemed delectable and a good compliment to the classy coffee experience. read more
Okay, this place hits!!! You're probably scrolling to find a spot to go to and I'm telling you now, get your ass over here. Love love love the aesthetics of the place and of their drinks. Very minimalist and overall a big spot to go study or do work!! I was greeted by the employees and they were all so so nice!!! Their menu is on the corner :) Tried their Ube Latte and Memento Latte. Both an 8/10!!! If you like your coffee on the stronger side, this was the right balance for me. Not too sweet, but not too bitter either. Im not the biggest fan of Ube but I would say this is a better Ube Latte than most I've had. Not too watery :) Cant wait to go back and try their matchas. Parking is not too bad either!!! Tbh I go back to coffee spots for the customer service and price (this economy is not cheap) but I would say this is definitely #besteafied!!! My partner is a coffee addict so we came to try this local spot out. We both saw a negative review on Instagram and wanted to come ourselves to confirm or deny. I'm not a coffee person so I'm always on the look out for Chai or matcha and I can tell you they have a nice variety on the menu. It's a nice shop coffee is good as well as matcha they had. I ordered the Usucha Matcha and my partner got the "dorty" that's what it's called. Both drinks were awesome. She also got a Nutella croissant and she said it has to much Nutella for her liking if you like a lot of it then you're good. The space itself is nice and minimal, clean and modern. Personally it's my style. Would we come back. Yes absolutely the person on Instagram was trippin. Also for the reviews talking about matcha. There are different ways to prepare matcha. Not every matcha is what you would expect from "Starbucks" There's Usucha and Koicha and then there's variations in the grade as well. read more

I was in the area and wanted to check out a coffee shop and this place came up. It's street parking only but there were plenty of spots. Inside, the ambiance was simple and it was a pretty small space with limited tables. For my drink, I ordered the ube latte as it's their most popular drink. The drink was good, coffee tasted strong and the Ube was fresh and complimented the coffee well. Overall, a great coffee spot to come to in the area. read more
I came here to do work a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the lighting, aesthetic and seating with outlets in here! My drinks were out super fast and the environment was very conducive to working when I went. The drinks are great, and it's nice to find a place with good coffee AND matcha! The place was pretty and clean! Service was also quick and friendly. Mainly street parking! I got the memento latte and it was okay. I added another espresso shot but it didn't feel strong. Definitely want to try it again, but didn't love the first drink I got. read more

Memento Coffee Works is phenomenal! The chai was perfectly spiced, and every drink was consistently amazing. You can really tell they care about the presentation as much as the flavor. Great vibes and even better drinks--this place is a total masterpiece. read more

I got the matcha latte sweetened with agave and oat milk and it is pretty good! Your standard matcha latte without being too sweet! I also the got the ham and cheese croissant and it was warm and fluffy. Limited seating but the interior is very pretty. Staff are helpful and give you recommendations as well! read more
Memento has a really nice aesthetic. It feels retro and vintage with a wabi-sabi touch, paired with subtle metallic accents. I didn't see any matcha options on the menu, which surprised me, but it didn't take away from the experience. The barista who helped me was super friendly and helpful, and I believe he may have been the owner. I ordered an ube latte, and it was done well. The espresso quality really came through, and the ube was simple and not overly sweet, which made it feel like a true latte rather than a dessert drink. Parking seems limited and looks like it's mostly street parking given where the shop is located. Overall, I'd definitely come back and could see myself studying here soon. read more
