I love this coffee shop! The staff is always kind and welcoming, and the coffee is absolutely delicious. My go-to order is the 007, which is phenomenal. I also love that their coffee is imported from El Salvador, you can really taste the quality of the beans. It's a great place to study or get some work done, and the atmosphere is inviting. This past Saturday was my first time at Black Dog Coffee Roasters. This Location is on 3rd and Cerritos in the North Alamitos Beach Neighborhood of Long Beach. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Charming coffee shop with a brick facade. The interior decor is rustic, warm and cozy with low lighting and great laid back tunes playing in the background through some classic Bose 301 Speakers[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offer free wifi making it a good space to do some work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have indoor and outdoor sidewalk seating under market umbrellas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is even enough space inside if you wanted to bring your bicycle in or a scooter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is street parking in front of the shop and around the area. Their beans are sourced from a farm in El Salvador and roasted on location. You can of course purchase their beans pre packaged. They have a really nice menu that includes hot or iced coffees made using different techniques of choice, as well as some great house specialties. They also have a Chai and Matcha selection. They offer a variety of sweeteners including a sugar free one, Different types of milks including dairy free And they even have a breakfast menu which i will pick from next time. I had one of their specialty drinks. The 007 with Oat Milk and agave over ice. It is basically a shaken espresso with oat milk and agave. It was light and smooth with the perfect amount of sweetener and it was very refreshing. The baristas are super friendly and accommodating. Prices are average and if i remember correctly. Their marked prices also include tax. I had a great first time experience. So, I will definitely be back. I may also check out their Signal Hill Location. Walked here from my hotel while visiting Long Beach & loved it! Staff was friendly & got my iced coffee out promptly. Appreciated that they had alternative milk for my lactose intolerant self. The Long Beach parking gods were on my side the day I went to visit dog. I was able to find a parking on the next block so I had a really good feeling about this visit. My instincts were right. Black dog is located right on the corner with some very cool outside tables walked in and everyone was very welcoming saying hello. I do wish that they had had a menu I could look at instead of in front of the register because the people in front of me were blocking it so I wasn't able to look at their drink options until I got to the register. I ordered the 007 after a recommendation from the barista and so glad I did. It was a combination of a little bit of sweet but really great coffee. I took my time sipping it because I really did not want the experience to end. The place is really cozy. They have some pub tables and one smaller table inside. I was able to sit and read my book while enjoying my coffee taking in the surroundings. read more

This is definitely long overdue of a review to highlight the kind and warm services of Luke and I believe Liz that day when my friend and I visited this coffee shop. They were very welcoming, patient, and took the time explaining the beans they used, and clearly one can see the love that goes into their passion for coffee creation. The two shared their knowledge and imparted their wisdom on making perfect drinks, which is very kind of them. I was quite impressed with the hot vanilla latte and also the hot peanut butter latte here, so I ended up purchasing their Ethiopia beans to recreate coffee at home. The place is very cozy inside and clean. Parking can be challenging though, since the location is around residential areas, ane there is not a whole lot of open parking spots. I also really loved the barista, she was kind and friendly and we talked about good places to eat lunch in Long Beach. Her name was Kenia. I've been to the Signal Hill location many times so I was excited when they finally opened this location. The interior is spacious and well decorated with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Service was friendly. I usually order the Sweet Little Hulk but they replaced the rose syrup with strawberry. It wasn't as sweet and a tad underwhelming this time so not sure if it was bc of the syrup swap. Hopefully it's not a permanent change to the drink. That's crazy I was in the area for another reason and this was just the closest coffee shop. Super dog friendly and they have a rescue posted at the counter with available senior dogs. Basic coffee and tea no menu except the pastries. Didn't happen to try those, not sure if they're homemade but in any case. Good service and good stuff. Slightly expensive probably cuz real estate ain't cheap by the beach, nothing outrageous though unless you really dress up your drink. read more

Discovered this place randomly when checking out nearby apartments (looking to potentially move to the area). So after apartment hunting, I found it walkable and headed over. The neighborhood is so cozy and a touch suburban but in a good way. The shop is small but well spaced to accommodate its guests. Its decor is rustic and international, with a great selection of drinks. When I visited, there was only one type of pastry and only one barista onsite, and I'm sure on other days there's more. The prices did go up and actually there was a discrepancy between what was on the menu and what was charged with the charge being LOWER than the menu price. I actually brought it up and they honored the lower price (Suppose they had to since they wouldn't have known if I didn't say anything). Although they did say if I order another its the new price. I tried their Vegan burrito which was actually a vendor who cooks it literally just outside. The music is a bit loud if you do want to have a meeting and its not super private or comfortable for a meeting but for an hour or so it will do.
