Cinnamon Toast Crunch (coffee & real maple blended, topped with house-made purple whip & cereal)
    Marcus C.

I've wanted to try Rad Coffee for the longest time, but the closest one has been Long Beach (not exactly close to me). Well if Long Beach doesn't come to you, you go to Long Beach! My better half and I are in our mid-life goth era so we made the trip to satisfy our horror cravings of the day. Rad Coffee is located off of Atlantic Ave & E 35th St. There's a parking lot in front and in back, so on the rare chance it's overcrowded you can find a spot (even on the street). Lots of clashing chaotic colors inside! You order at the counter and pick up your drinks on the side counter next to the bathroom (which is closed). Also closed is a sizeable covered patio, which is a shame since it'd be nice to chill there and not just get it to go. Maybe it's another covid casualty, or maybe it's more about lack of employees to keep an eye out (there was only one during our visit). The menu has lots of specialties in addition to your usual coffee fare. We were adventurous so my wife got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch while I had the Peanut Butter Crunch. Yeah, their house creations have cereal and coffee Frankensteins so it was an interesting choice (both are super sweet). Overall we'd stop by again when we're in the area. I dug their pinball machines while you wait. They also have plenty of merch for sale (shirts, shorts, stickers, mugs, etc.). If you're on the health-conscious side, they also have a hearty selection of vegan friendly treats.

Rad coffee wasn't so rad tasting unfortunately... I'll admit it could've been my order I honestly have no idea. I was going to order something until the cashier told me what it actually was and then I was like oh I don't want a coffee shot I want a coffee... so she made it into a 16oz version. I truly don't remember what it was. But it just wasn't good. I was... not impressed. I didn't taste any vanilla and the coffee wasn't a background dancer more than anything. The Spanish latte. Was not Spanish. It was, a very bland watered down coffee. I tasted the hint of condensed milk or so I think it was. I have no idea how they make it at this establishment. The aesthetic is really different and stands out. It's a whole different vibe & it's nice to see a different coffee shop that isn't so picturesque and cutesy and moderny. I love the idea and concept. Service was quick and friendly. Menu is very large and visible for ordering. They have their own plaza for parking.

What a "rad" place! Hah. This place is such a vibe, love!! So many unique drinks to choose from which is pretty awesome. They have pinball machines which is always fun to see and they had fun merch and snacks. The worker was very nice and helpful when we couldn't decide what to order. I really wanted to try their Cinnamon Toast but it didn't have caffeine in it, I could've added but I wanted to try something as is, no modifications. My bf ended up ordering the Cinnamon Toast since he doesn't drink coffee and that way I could try it. I liked it! But definitely a "dessert" type drink. I got their Salty Caramel iced coffee which was just okay. It could've probably used an extra shot but flavor was good. I would love to come back and try their other drinks! IG: @ammysalamii

Visited this Rad while in the area. I ordered The Wolf and it was really good. Service was fast and efficient and there are a lot of cool things to look at, play, or buy, while you wait. The downsides are that their seating area was closed, and apparently it has been closed for at least a year. It's disappointing that they really don't want you to sit and enjoy your drink, study etc., just grab your drink and go. I've gone to the Riverside location, as well, and there is no where to sit. Another disappointment is the larger drinks don't come with the signature Rad logo (skull) on the cups (at both locations I've been to), so it's not very distinctive from any other coffee shop.

Tried a vegan smores bar. Good but very sweet. Also ordered a cinnamon frapp decaf. I liked that they have decaf options. The whip cream was dark purple which I guess looks cool but not a fan of color additives and it stains your lips/tongue. It was good but very sweet. I went in originally to do some work on my laptop and after I ordered I realized there are no tables in the place at all. Only a pick up and go place. I asked if I could get a refund before he made my drink but the worker said they can't give refunds without the owner there. So I spent 12 bucks and went to another coffee shop lol. My bad for not noticing and being in a rush but also there should be a refund system that works.

Rating: for customer service I needed an afternoon pick me up and found myself in the Long Beach area, so I decided to give Rad Coffee a try. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing, primarily due to the customer service. As it was our first time there, we were a little indecisive about our orders. I approached the counter and asked the worker for recommendations, mentioning that I don't like sweet drinks. Instead of being helpful, he responded in a rude manner, essentially asking, "Well, what do you like? With an attitude " and started listing off options coffee, tea, and lemonade without giving any real suggestions. He even rolled his eyes at me, which felt unprofessional and dismissive. When I finally told him I like coffee that's not sweet, he then asked quickly iced coffee or a latte? I felt rushed throughout the interaction, and the head bobbing didn't help either. The name on my cup said it was Issac, but honestly, he didn't help make our first visit enjoyable. Now, onto the taste. I went with the Ripper, but to my disappointment, it tasted watered down and had an artificial flavor. Overall, I was really hoping for a better experience at Rad Coffee, but the service and the drink did not meet my expectations.

I have never been so appalled by coffee before. This picture is my full cinnamon toast crunch drink going straight into the trash. My boyfriend got the ripper, which his was 10000x worse in flavor than mine. We both were absolutely disgusted by what we got and it's truly so sad to say that! We did not expect that based on everyone else's review of this place. I also did NOT get any cereal on top of my blended drink and there was a couple right before us who got a blended drink and got cereal on top of theirs, so i'm not sure why my drink didn't come with it. Overall, a VERY disappointing experience. I won't be back and I do not recommend this place unfortunately.

Rad coffee has so much potential! I've had the Spanish latte and it's delicious but you have to order it with 25% sweetness. Even the worker suggested it! I'm glad she did! In my last visit, I noticed that their outside patio is closed and there is no other seating area. This place has so much potential for customers, but without anywhere to sit and eat, it's easier to go down the street and find a café where you can chill. I'll give them kudos for their branding as well. Their logo and colors are pretty cool. I really want this cafe to thrive. Hopefully they open up the back patio, with some nice lighting and board games for the customers.

Was looking for coffee pre heading to Dtla, and landed on rad coffee. Super cute place with unique cereal centric options, which was fun. Barista walked us through options, where I like a sweeter more flavorful coffee and my friend was more into strong vs sweet. I landed on the cinnamon toast option and my friend got a cold brew, and they were good. A tad sweet, even for me, but this spot is super unique, has good quality beans, and very fun vibes and flavor options.

Rad coffee is a unique place with a selection of drinks. I tried cookies and scream, the staff who took my order recommended to add a shot of espresso as the drink itself does not contain caffeine and it was the best decision ever! The place has a selection of merch including shirts, stickers, and pins. Location does not have tables or chairs to hang out at, it's more of a hang out, pick up and go

They have everything from coffee, expresso, iced tea and cappuccino. Service is always a delight. Ambiance is definitely rad! They got the whole goth slash emo but make it cutsey vibe here

10/10 Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Chiller - this is my go to drink here. Omg this is literally my favorite place in the world to get speciality frappe's. Also their whipped cream is made in house from scratch! 7/10 Service- The girl who took our order looked like she hated her life. Service could be better. Cost - $6.25 in total. Wow this is so freaking greatly priced. Doesn't get better than this.

What if I have my dog with me?

Not sure but ordering is pretty fast I have never experienced long lines. Maybe your dog can wait in the car 5min.

Is it a good place to do school work or study?

There's no place for you to sit so that's a definite no. It's literally just a store that you order drinks or merchandise and take it to-go.

    Is there decaf?

Yes! Decaf Espresso. Also, any of the blends can be made with decaf and or coffee free.

Odd behavior to tell someone what they can and can't do at an establishment considering it's called a coffee AND wine bar. Maybe this is something to advertise on your yelp and website but a "laptop free zone" after 4pm is pretty ridiculous for potential customers who were just looking to eat and work. I almost feel like he just told me that because I was going to order a salad and a non alcoholic beverage and wasn't planning on ordering much. As the other 1 star reviews mention "pretentious behavior" so it's either the cashier or whoever it was is being pretentious as others mentioned or RACIST...
