    Turmeric latte
    Arthur E.

Quiet, open space with coffee smells and non-caffeinated drinks. Went to work out of the coffee shop for a bit while waiting for a coworker. There is plenty of parking on the street and at the nearby park. I don't drink caffeine, so I typically end up getting some sort of herbal tea at coffee shops. However, they had this turmeric latte - so gave it a go. Was really well made and super tasty! Had the hints of the flavors of turmeric (and ginger) without it being overwhelming. They also have hot/iced chocolate, and 3 different herbal teas if you're not feeling for the latte. Think I actually found a coffee shop I liked!

Visited Common Room while visiting LBC. Loved the open space, fresh air coming through, and real plants that adorned the space. The barista was kind, friendly, and answered any questions. We ordered a cold brew and a latte. I added lemon syrup and lemon cold foam, which was so delicious and unique. They have quite the list of house made syrups, which is always a great sign. The latte itself was good but a bit light on the coffee taste for my tastes. I would come back and try another coffee and house made cold foam.

The coffee I ordered tastes great. They made a mistake and I ended up with an extra coffee; definitely not a bad thing to ever happen. The interior is clean. You can take a look where they roast their coffee. Staff are great. The small section of clothes they sell is really SOFT and has a cool look with their logo on it. I'll have to get one the next time I go in.

Common Room is nestled behind USPS and Orizaba Park. You won't find it unless you're familiar with the area. I had the Cold Brew and it was a solid choice. The service was excellent and the roastery is on site.

This was a very cute and hidden coffee spot, right next to a community park. The inside is very cute, full of nice greenery, and had a pleasant smell. There was a limited amount of seating with some access to outlets which I was able to use, as I came midday and there was only one other patron inside and a couple outside. They have some cute merch and their own grinds if you want take home coffee. My whole milk salted caramel latte was fine, I was not super impressed but good enough. My barista was super helpful and really thoughtful about what kind of drink would be good when I asked! My only major downside was that there is Monday/ Tuesday street sweeping when you park on the street which someone working there only mentioned once they were giving out tickets . So either walk or park accordingly when coming here!

Whenever I am in the area I would go to common room for a cup of coffee. They got pastries and food items as well. Service is always great, plenty of parking, and reasonable price. Limited seating indoor for work/study, but has around 5 tables outside.

The coffee here at common room was really good. The latte was well-made and delicious, super smooth. The avocado toast was also a decent portion size and had lots of veggies, and came with a little pile of salt/red pepper flakes for you to add your own. The cafe itself was really clean, and kinda gave art gallery vibes in the sense that it felt really empty with a few things on display? Overall, good coffee but not like a cozy Sunday morning brunch feeling.

The iced chai here tastes like a churro dipped in horchata, pure magic in a cup! You can really taste the cinnamon and chai, perfectly balanced. The vibe is cozy and inviting, and the location is super convenient. The restroom feels like a spa (yes, really!), and the plants inside the café are gorgeous, they seriously call your name. It's spacious, peaceful, and they even sell some cute merch. I'll definitely be back!

I love coming here. I'm usually here every 1st Saturday because of the Beans and Beats event that is put on by my friends... you can hear great music by awesome DJs and get some really great coffee or teas along with some yummy food. I'm a fan of their quiche and their Prana Chai tea latte DELISH!!! If your into vinyl records there is an opportunity to purchase 45s and full records. The service is great too they explain it may take time to make your beverage or to make your food which I appreciate. They call out your name so make sure you're listening

Common room is always solid! The ambience it amazing with plants all around, there's decent seating, and it's tucked in a neighborhood away from the main street. There is even parking since there is a park across the street. It's perfect for studying or meeting up with a friend. If you love coffee this is the place for you!

Right off the bat, the ladies who work here were so friendly!! I got the perfect drink recommendation to match what I was feeling today- the salted caramel latte! I had a really productive work sesh and was jamming out to the music they were playing too! Super good vibes and I'll definitely be back!

Common Room Roasters is a nice coffee shop located next to the park. I went on Saturday around 11 AM. There was plenty of street parking right across at the park. For the order, I got the iced vanilla latte with three shots of espresso. I thought the drink was decent. It was not too sweet. For seating, there was a lot of indoor seating and a few options outside. While there were lots of spots inside, the seating didn't felt that comfortable. Some of the table height was low and the chair didn't have back support. The seating outside had better support, but you'll be sitting right on the sidewalk. Overall, the coffee was good and the vibe was great. This is a great coffee spot if you're in the area.

Ask the Community - Common Room Roasters

Is there wifi? Also, would you consider it to be a good place to study?

Yes, there is wifi. I think it is OK to study there. Only thing bothers me about CRR is they don't have a lots of tables... so you need to hurry to take a spot to study.

Is the coffee certified fairtrade or through direct trade?

Hi Maggie! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, our roasters source as many FTO (Fair Trade Organic) coffees as possible.… Read more

Back home it's mostly Vietnamese coffee, which I love... but one of those almost sent me into an anxiety spiral with the caffeine, so I needed something more civilized this morning. This spot hit the mark. Low-key location, easy in and out, no crowds--just coffee. The people were friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. While I was sitting there browsing and trying to smell the coffee through the little vent like a weirdo, they casually mentioned the beans had been roasted yesterday. That told me everything I needed to know. Started with a drip--simple, solid, priced right. Then I rolled the dice on a peanut butter latte, which most places completely mess up. This one didn't. Still tasted like coffee, not a melted candy bar. I also grabbed some ceremonial matcha green tea powder to go, which was legit and not an afterthought. Behind the shop there are some race cars or high-end sports cars tucked into a garage space, which was kind of perfect. This is the third coffee shop I've seen operating out of a garage setup, and honestly, if that's how you keep rent down and spend the money on good beans (or fast cars), I respect it. You can also see the roasting machine while you wait, which is always cool. They've got a couple of benches outside if you want to sit and actually enjoy your coffee instead of chugging it in traffic. Bottom line: good coffee, good people, no ego. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. Easy go-to in North Long Beach.

Luckily this means that parking is always a breeze with their large marina-side parking lot. I ordered the Honey Latte and an almond croissant. This is one of the best croissants that I've had from a local coffee shop. It was both flakey and chewy, and stuffed with the most delicious almond paste. While the drink was great, I felt that it was on the smaller side for the price tag. Especially with the cold foam topper. Sadly, due to its size and my lack of self restraint, this beverage was gone in seconds.

My review is not about her, but about the "store policy." I was told the shots would be ristretto, which is not my preference, so I responded with "I'd like about 3 ounces" and was told that it wasn't going to be that. I've learned when having these conversations, it's important to skip the labels of ristretto, espresso, and lungo and just say the outcome you want. I was then told, "It's not going to be that much," and then I asked if they could simply draw it long. The response I got told me all I needed to know: "We're not supposed to. It can dilute the flavor." I told them that I didn't want it and ordered a blueberry muffin to eat with my friends while they had their coffee. If you are an espresso drinker and you don't like it ristretto, this is not the cafe for you. I think this is a really weird hill to die on for a place that claims to serve high end coffee.

I really haven't had a memorably good coffee since I stopped being a barista a few years ago. Anyways, I like to stop by Baked Vegan Sweets which is next door, and last weekend I noticed the sidewalk sign for Scary Good Coffee & I was drawn to try it. I was shocked when I found out it was all vegan! I've been vegan for 8+ years now & I have never seen a fully plant-based coffee shop. Also don't let the word 'vegan' steer you away because this shop makes the creamiest most delicious lattes. The barista was super friendly & helped me pick a drink. I ended up trying the spanish cold brew iced latte. All I can say is WOW it's made with condensed coconut milk and cinnamon, it's the perfect amount of sweetness. The flavors of the coffee itself are just incredible. I'm tempted to get my coffee black next time, but I don't think I'll be drinking anything but the Spanish latte for a while! I tried to come again on Friday but didn't realize they're only open Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm. Still craving a coffee, I searched for the closed 5 star coffee shop and let me tell you it was majorly disappointing, so I was back at Scary Good Coffee the next day. I guess I'm back to being a coffee drinker and I can't imagine going anywhere else. This will be my regular weekend treat from now on! Cannot wait til they get popular enough to open 7 days a week.
