first time to common room rosters today, it was between here and another place nearby. When I first saw it on yelp, I thought I had to visit it due to its industrial feel for the ambiance of it! To my surprise , it felt exactly that, the staff was super friendly and helpful for helping me narrow down a choice for cold brew at home. I also asked the suggestion of what the Chia misu was like! This spot is kind of hidden away. Not on a main drag and very simple outside. Missed it when I parked across the street at a park I wanted to checkout(the park was not great) but on my way back to the car I saw this spot and it a hidden Gem got a Long Black which consist of two shots and water and man did it kick. I was juiced till 12:30am and it's been awhile since I had a coffee do that to me. Plus it was very tasty, no sugar or milk added by the way. As I finally step away from supporting Starbucks, I shared my concerns of the way their coffee made me feel, the acid reflux and endless vile. That burnt taste reminiscent wet rag scent, I can't do anymore. Everett was right on with fresh bean smooth taste. I'm only sorry we couldn't chat more this first time. Yum!!!!! That vanilla homemade syrup was so good! Had it in a hot latte and a cold latte and the taste was so distinct. In the hot it was creamy. Overall the coffee is really good if you actually enjoy the taste of coffee, but if you like the overly sweet coffee drinks then this may not be your place. Coffee: 9/10 I got the vanilla latte and it came out good! It was pretty earthy which I didn't mind, but isn't something I particularly enjoy when drinking coffee. I opted to pay extra for the macadamia nut milk since I've never tried it, so this may have provided the different flavor to the coffee I wasn't expecting. My coffee was made fairly quickly and I didn't have to wait long at all. Ambiance: 10/10 Not a lot of seating, but enjoy for a small crowd. Some of the chairs are very low to the ground, so not good for people with bad knees. But they have three tall chairs and outside seating that would work for people. Very clean and quaint, they also have some coffee related goods for sale. The only thing that will keep me from coming back is the price. It's only one size of drinks and mine cost $6.50 and is pretty small. I hate to complain because I know small businesses don't have the luxury of lowering their prices. This is my favorite place to get avocado toast and I've gotten it about 15 times and never once has it been consistent. Sometimes I'll get salad on the side sometimes I won't sometimes it'll be just oil sometimes it'll have lemon on it. It just is very inconsistent and the avocado toast is supposed to be mashed and sometimes it'll come cubed without the feta. I don't know if it's because people are just being lazy when they make it or if they haven't been trained correctly on how to make the avocado toast. hate writing a bad review on this coffee shop because I love it so much and I keep going back because I have hope that one day I'll get a good avocado toast like I used to . It seems like this is one of your guys's best sellers so consistency in a coffee shop is extremely important. Probably the most important thing to adhere to in a coffee shop. It also cost $15 so getting an avocado toast that I paid for but isn't what I got is frustrating and disappointing but like I said, especially if it's been over 10 times and 170$, I'm not the type of person to send it back every single time because it's not right or else that would be everytime i went to the shop. This coffee shop is very tucked away with all the business complexes around it, but they have a very unique space and environment for a coffee shop. Walking in, its really big since they have their own room of their merchandise, but just a few tables here and there. I ordered an iced latte and my bf ordered a long black and we both enjoyed our drinks! Mines tasted very uniquely different from a lot of the iced lattes I tried from other places, but couldn't quite put my finger on it. It's a rather small cup too, but the prices here were also cheaper than other coffee shops i've been to. This review is long over due, also because I've been here so many times at this point they're probably wondering why I haven't left one yet! Haha! If you're looking for a quality coffee spot, look no further. If anyone knew me, they knew I've had my fair shares of coffee spots, and when I tell you that CRR's espresso is legit- trust me on it. I've been to several coffee spots in the area, and ordered the same drink, and CRR is by far the most authentic in richness and flavorful of espresso bean I've had. The (hot) vanilla lattè with oat milk is my go to and just one cup keeps me awake throughout my WFH shift. The cold brew is also strong, it comes in a cute dark glass bottle you can reuse. The ambiance is clean and spacious. I've only gone in the mornings and it's in a quiet neighborhood next to the park. The staffs & Riley is friendly and polite. The music they play, gah damn - you have no idea how many times I've used my Shazam app in here. Love the underground hip hop! What an absolute gem this place is. The coffee is the best around, and the staff both are very good at what they do, and are genuinely friendly people. I enjoy going here and try to do so often. A great space that invites you in and welcomes you to stay. Would not be out of place at all in Berlin or Lyon. As some have mentioned, sometimes (definitely not always) the music could be a bit lower. You know what would be really sweet? WHAT CAN I SAY SOME OF THE BEST COFFEE IN LBC. Surprising my wife with a coffee adventure this past weekend. We both love Common Room since our first experience when they were still in Costa Mesa/ Newport area. The aesthetic of the coffee shop was so different from all the other coffee shops we've been too. So when we heard they were moving to LBC we were excited since we are from the area. Upon arrival it looked very simple and bare. We were so used to all the lush greenery and glass with touches of white oak and stone. I also kind of miss seeing the bicycles hung up in the shop and the plates. But the one thing that hasn't changed is the great choice in music. And most important the great quality of coffee. The barista was very kind and helpful. I usually order hot coffees when I visit coffee shops for the first time but that day I wanted something refreshing. My wife and I both got cold brews but I got their nitro because I've never tried their nitro before. Let me tell you that thing can get you GOING! Overall the experience was good but I just wish they took some of that old soul they had from the OG spot and applied it here. One of the best coffee shops in Long Beach. Originally from Australia, Common Room is a small scale roaster and specialty cafe, with just one location. They are a transparent operation of sourcing, roasting, and brewing the highest quality single origin and blended coffees in the world. When my husband ordered a Macchiato and the barista asked, "this is a classic Macchiato, served with seltzer, is that okay?", we knew we were in a great place. Starbucks has taught people that a macchiato is a caramel drizzled latte, but it is actually just a shot of espresso, marked with a small amount of steamed milk on top. I got a Flat White, and a cup of brewed coffee as well, both of which were excellent. They have different options for seating low rise tables , height barstool, and outdoors . Located right across the street from the park we opted to have our coffee on their outdoors then moved to a bench at the park. Was very pleasant. Coffee is delish and averages priced. Had a lavender latte and finished it in almost one sip. Wasn't overly sweet so very good. Actually should be 3.5 stars but rounded up since the beans are still good. Recently my coffee from Common Room has been disappointing and quite frankly really nasty. The past two times I have gotten their oat milk latte, it has tasted like watered down cold brew that is not creamy or good at all. It is gross. Idk if it's because they are planning on closing this location and moving to Long Beach so they just don't care for now or what. Today I had to get another oat latte because they were out of cold brew which is what I usually get here. Still nasty. My bf's iced coffee was also nasty. Last week I got a latte from Sidecar donuts who uses their beans and it was exponentially better than what I got here. It's pretty sad when another fav coffee shop is no longer a fav. I had the Nitro Cold Brew the first time around, and the traditional Cold Brew today. Both were delicious. I'd rate the Nitro CB 4/5 and the CB 5/5. The ambiance was very relaxing. The smell of the coffee roasting was so amazing. This place had definitely become a fave stop of mine. Stopped by this morning, and was very intrigued by the decor and setup. One room was the ordering area/ hangout, the other looked like a mini store where you can buy coffee products. I'm sure if they optimized there space better and added more tables, it can definitely become a cool hangout/workspace area, that will bring in more foot traffic. Now to the coffee, I had an iced mocha, and pastry (unsure of the name). The iced mocha was good, not the best I've had, but it was alot better than the usual chain coffee shops. The pastry I had was very delicious! The price of the coffee and pastry wasn't overly expensive, which was a plus. This place has so much more potential, especially with Coastline Community College nextdoor. I look forward to visiting this place more often, and hoping it can become my favorite coffee shop somewhere in the near future. Amazing coffee and an incredible cafe right in the heart of their roastery. I love that there is plenty of street parking available. This place is tucked just off the main road too so it's more peaceful should you decide to sit outside. As for their coffee, it is pulled to perfection. I tried a hot chocolate latte and an iced latte. The mocha was not too sweet and very rich in chocolate goodness. The standard iced latte was fantastic with a nice bold flavor from their coffee, not too acidic either which is to my liking. I will definitely be stopping by again! read more
