Visited the 626 night market tonight at the OC fair. Gotta say it was the best Poutine I have had in awhile. I got the regular version, no meat toppings and it was really great. It feels bad to leave a review like this for such a great group of people, but I have to be honest to hopefully provide some level of useful feedback. I saw this place outside a brewery I was visiting and was excited to see a poutine food truck for the first time, knowing its a scarce beast in the area and even Kroft tends to take serious liberties with their own poutine varieties. I was stoked at the amazing offerings and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. I picked the short rib poutine and the cashier told me that was his favorite. I was excited. The poutine came out quick, maybe five minutes max. It looked delicious, but...I'm sad to say I was disappointed. The short rib was lacking juiciness though it was clearly a decent piece of meat, and the sauce really ruined things. It was incredibly runny and thin, more like a broth than anything resembling a brown gravy. The flavor was thin and weak, lacking enough flavor and the thick texture necessary to bring everything together. The fries were okay but fairly typical thin natural-cut from what I could tell. The cheese curds seemed fine. Hopefully this was just a fluke and I'm sure to try this place again if they're around to see because poutine is just the best thing ever especially with some good beer. Sadly disappointed :( went to brewery x on a saturday and was excited to try this food truck because who doesn't love fries! Arrived by 7pm so they ran out of a lot of ingredients by that time, so I didn't get to try the short rib poutine that I originally wanted. Ended up getting the smoked pork poutine which had TONS of meat but I felt like the fries to meat ratio was off, my food was lukewarm, the gravy was salty and watery. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and probably say the food would have been better earlier in the day but I at least wanted my food to come out hot. Today marked their official debut in OC, and fortunately they were close to my office, so I went over with a coworker. Super friendly guys working the truck. I ordered the short rib poutine, with some avocado added in. You also get to choose from 4 different types of fries, and I'm partial to waffle fries. Their gravy is so full of flavor I would eat it alone if I could. The pork is cooked perfectly and their cheese curds add the perfect cherry on top of an amazing dish! The menu has so many great options I wanted to order everything. The poutine brothers (SO HELPFUL) suggested I try the Short Rib and Chicken Tikka Masala.... and it was heavenly delish! So rich and filling. Both made with homemade gravy and cheese. What's better than that?! I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and Short Rib poutine for my boyfriend and I but, we could of easily split one. The sizes are reasonable, and loaded with meat. Totally worth every penny! They also have vegan poutine which I'm curious to try next time. The service was great.
