There really wasn't any stand out flavor in the tacos and they were greasy. Tortillas seemed to be homemade which is a positive, but they were a little stiff. I paid $14 and change. For the price, I rather pay a little bit more and go across the street and get Tacos Los Cholos. Also, the lady at the front seemed a little irritated with me. I noticed a change when she spoke Spanish to me, and I responded in English. I look Hispanic, but I am not lol. After that, she was a little short with me. I told her the order was to go when she asked. Then when my order was ready, she just said, "order ready!". I looked at the other person in the restaurant which was a gentleman, because I wasn't sure if it was his order. Once I realized it was mine, she looked at me and said, "it was to go, right??" I told her yes as I was getting up to walk over to her. Once I got to the front, she asked me if I wanted red and green salsa. I said, yes. I asked her if they had the pickled carrots and jalapeño and she didn't respond and just handed me my food and said have a good day. I asked again, and she said it was in there. Like, ok...how was I supposed to know that. So, with the lackluster tacos and what I had to pay for them, and the poor customer service I will not be back. You would think being across the street from a popular Mexican food restaurant, you would step up your game, but sadly that wasn't the case here.

The Food: You can get a wide range of meals, from the usual tacos and burritos to less common mulitas and vampiros. I've tried a lot of their different options, and they are all solid, but will focus this review on my latest order: al pastor and carnitas tacos. Both had a fair amount of meat and were properly seasoned, with tortillas that were firm enough to keep things together but soft enough to enjoy. Were they the best tacos I've ever had? No, but I enjoyed them. The Atmosphere: It's a smallish medium-sized establishment with a mix of comfortable booth seating and tables. Everything is relatively clean and organized, though a bit spartan -- don't expect anything fancy. The Location: Ponchos has a State College Boulevard address, but you'll actually need to turn onto Walnut Avenue to access the parking lot. It's located in a small strip mall that's hard to spot from the road because State College Boulevard dips downward under a railroad bridge. However, there's usually free parking in the lot (as long as the nearby power lifting gym doesn't hold a competition, which always results in an overload of cars). The Pros: * Lots of different dishes with more proteins than the standard fare (i.e. lengua, shrimp.) * Customer service is usually very fast, friendly, and knowledgable. * Costs are affordable (unlike other shops that have jacked up their prices) * They offer free chips and salsa if you dine in The Cons: * During this past visit, the salsa bar had lemons instead of limes. * The bathroom meets the bare minimum but could definitely use a remodel (or at least a deep cleaning) The Conclusion: Ponchos Tacos is not perfect, but it's one of my go-to places when I want good street tacos, mulitas, or vampiros at an affordable price.

When I first came, I was really impressed by the flavor of their pastor and by the salsas they make. Since then, I've realized the quality can be a little bit hit or miss. The meats especially can vary a ton in quality depending on when you go. I haven't really figured out if there's a pattern, but sometimes you can just tell the meat has been sitting cooked and is just reheated before eating. Since everything is just sitting on the flat top, it can also come out a bit greasy sometimes. On the bright side, the flavors are always on point. They offer just about any form factor you could want, and the prices are fair. At the salsa bar, they offer everything you could really want. They have a solid salsa verde and roja, but also have a creamy jalapeño salsa that goes super well on just about anything. I also like that they serve radishes and pickled onions at their salsa bar. Their aguas frescas are also great for the most part. Don't come here expecting freshly grilled quality meats like you might find at tacos Los cholos, but you also won't find the crowd and torturous parking here either.

I found Cultura Tacos y Más on Google Maps within walkable distance from the boba shop, so I placed an order on DoorDash and went to pick them up. When I arrived, it turned out their computer system had crashed, so they hadn't noticed my online order. However, once I showed them the DoorDash details, they told me to give them 5 minutes. Within a short time, the lady at the front handed me a brown paper bag with the goods. I walked back to the boba shop and unpacked the tacos once I was back at the table with my friends. The tacos were sooo tasty! I really wish I knew about this place sooner and that we'd gone here for dinner instead. I'd come back in a heartbeat. Okay it's an unimpressive dumpy hole in the wall but we took a chance and tried it. Glad we did. Taco Lucaz is kind of a mexican taco truck type of place. Limited menu options but they certainly know what they are doing when it comes to street style tacos here. Excellent. Particularly the pollo (chicken) tacos. Wow. As was the asada tacos. Really good. A big variety of hot sauce available in squeeze bottles. All very good especially the red spicy one. Yes, I would eat here again when I'm in this area. The tacos were absolutely delicious.
