I've been coming to Tacos El Patron ever since I moved nearby. It's got super long hours and it's never crowded like Tacos Los Cholos down the street. When I first came, I was really impressed by the flavor of their pastor and by the salsas they make. Since then, I've realized the quality can be a little bit hit or miss. The meats especially can vary a ton in quality depending on when you go. I haven't really figured out if there's a pattern, but sometimes you can just tell the meat has been sitting cooked and is just reheated before eating. Since everything is just sitting on the flat top, it can also come out a bit greasy sometimes. On the bright side, the flavors are always on point. They offer just about any form factor you could want, and the prices are fair. At the salsa bar, they offer everything you could really want. They have a solid salsa verde and roja, but also have a creamy jalapeño salsa that goes super well on just about anything. I also like that they serve radishes and pickled onions at their salsa bar. Their aguas frescas are also great for the most part. Don't come here expecting freshly grilled quality meats like you might find at tacos Los cholos, but you also won't find the crowd and torturous parking here either. read more

I've been eating the food here for years. Food has been good and consistent. Main reason for only 2 stars is that there have been so many times my family and I have tried to call in for a to-go order and there is 1 lady who refuses to speak English, sometimes. My husband has called and she'll say "No English, sorry" then hang up. I call right after, same lady answers and she speaks to me in English. Wtf? This has happened MULTIPLE TIMES. Many to-go orders have been wrong as well and when we've called to fix the order, same lady will say the same thing and hang up. We do enjoy the food so it's a hard decision if we want to order from here. We're never rude over the phone or when we're at the restaurant. The tacos are loaded with meat, and the al pastor is my go-to, topped with fresh cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime. Ambiance of the taco spot is nothing fabulous, but sometimes it's not always about the look- it's the FOOD Service is always fast, and there's plenty of seating if you decide to eat there. Their Al Pastor tacos were the star of the show--perfectly seasoned, insanely flavorful, and cooked just right with that ideal balance of savory, juicy, and slightly crispy goodness. Best tortas in Southern California! They are MASSIVE and so flavorful! I always get the chorizo one because I like the little bits of crispy chorizo that add texture. I suggest squeezing lime and guacamole salsa into each bite as you enjoy. read more

I get to the place to pick up my food and they say guacamole is extra I show her that it says on the app that it served with it. I've been coming to Tacos El Patron for years because I genuinely enjoy the food, especially the birria tacos. The food is the reason I keep coming back, but unfortunately, I've had too many issues with my to-go orders over the years. I usually call ahead because the restaurant is often busy and seating is limited, so I've never really dined in. While the food is consistently good, my pickup orders are frequently incorrect or incomplete. Today's order was the final straw. I ordered two orders of birria tacos with consommé and specifically requested no cheese. Both orders came with cheese, and neither included the consommé. This is actually the second time the consommé has been forgotten. I understand that I share some responsibility for not checking the order before leaving, but I also expect my order to be prepared correctly and completely. By the time I noticed, I was already home and settled in to watch a game. When I called, they offered for me to come back and pick up the missing consommé, but that wasn't practical at that point. The food is great, which is why I've remained a customer for so many years. I just wish there was more attention to detail with takeout orders. Delivery order: Ordered from here again through a delivery app and I enjoyed it much more than my first time! Ordered the pastor burrito and chicken mulita and both were very good. Al pastor burrito: The burrito was hefty and the meat was flavorful. The burrito has meat, cheese, beans, rice, onions and cilantro. I enjoyed the burrito but my husband said it had too much rice in it. Chicken mulita: First time ordering it and I really enjoyed it! I reminded me of a small quesadilla made with taco-sized corn tortillas, filled with cheese and meat. I opened up the mulita to put in some of the onions and cilantro they provide and it was delicious! Would order this again. I ordered food to-go and brought it home a few minutes down the street. The restaurant was clean and the right amount of busy for a Friday night. The service was fairly quick. I ordered the hardshell potato tacos, a couple of tacos al pastor, and a quesabirria taco. The potato tacos are perfectly flavored and still the perfect crunchiness after transport, which is always a fear of mine when ordering food that is intended to be crispy and crunchy. The al pastor is juicy and delicious, the tacos are a good size each. The quesabirria taco shell was the perfect amount of crispy and the meat inside was so tender. It was a great taco. Found this spot while I was around the area.. decided to try it based off reviews and I was not disappointed!! The portions are pretty big enough and I purposely didn't finish my food to have leftovers for the next day. It was just as delicious! This place is definitely worth driving 30min for! Decide to try this place since there's always a line. So glad I came and checked it out. The food was delicious and the prices were decent. We 2 orders of the 3 birria tacos with a side of consume. On my order I got 2 birria and chivo, the meat (chivo) was tough and not tender but good flavor. The beef birria was super delicious. Also the vampiros were so good. Accidentally ordered food from this restaurant (Google directed me to this one when I intended to order from the name name restaurant in Phoenix). When I immediately noticed the mistake after order, I called the restaurant repeatedly and even emailed. Phone rang, but no answer, then they turned the phone off. Emails went unanswered. I reached out to their online service software (GetBento) who also were unable to get a response from them. I ended up having to dispute the charge through my credit card company. I repeated 3x no cheese because there was a little bit of a language barrier. No queso 3x. I go in to get my food and the receipt said it had cheese. I open the meal and there was cheese inside.
