Home made goodness. Stopped in for an evening bite. We were excited to see orange bang, but the best part is their home made tortillas. Everything is fresh and so affordable! Their salsa is delicious, the service is great. Their restaurant has a lovely patio area and is so conveniently located next to Fullerton! My SIL check this hole in the wall taco bar and it didn't disappoint. They have been in business for a year and a half in this location( by Cal State fullerton) She ordered breakfast burrito while we were waiting for our coffee from Ryo coffee next door. Finally came in to try Alegro on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. We tried a burrito, bowl and quesadilla and got my 2 year old a plain taco. There were a couple of parties ahead of us, so we waited maybe 10 minutes for our food to arrive. We thought the food was good, but there are definitely better options in the area that we like better. My sister's bowl was pretty small and my burrito was missing the rice :( Service was friendly, and it's a nice touch that the food comes on real plates but eating indoors (only table available at the time) was really stuffy and hot. No customer restrooms were available and no free water either. Parking is fairly easy either on the street directly in front or in the lot behind the building. read more

Alegro Taco Bar is right across the street from the college. There is a parking lot behind, but I find it easier to park in front in Chapman, that's just limited to 5 or so cars. It's a small place with limited seating inside and outside. Service was quick and responsive, portion sizes generous for the price, flavor on the protein was robust, a great experience all around. Alegro offers different Mexican proteins, and many vehicles to get that into your mouth. The tacos are so large that 2 is probably good for an average adult. I love chorizo and found that here it's strongly flavored and also not oily, hard to do but Alegro accomplishes it. The Al Pastor has a sauce that is more peppers than pineapple, but there is swim sweetness at the end of the bite and I did enjoy it too. Lastly the carnitas is cooked and falls apart easily. Solid spot for Taco Tuesdays. They have 20% off tacos on Tuesdays. The staff was super nice, friendly, and attentive. The meat portions are generous. The options are very customizable. I really liked how they had handmade tortillas as an option. They also had homemade chips too! There's a few tables inside and some outdoor patio seating. It's not a large restaurant. I had my wife go grab dinner for taco Tuesday. I was really excited and then got my food and I was underwhelmed. 1. Chile Verde Taco - a little too salty but better than #2 2. Burrito - tortilla tasted old and perhaps overheated. It wasn't even a true FULL burrito. More Tortilla than actual meat and other ingredients. I hate to even give piss poor reviews but this was by far one of the worst burritos I've ever had. I mean it might as well had been frozen and thawed out. Quesadilla: with cheese and Asada. We had tasted better one in Santa Ana. It was all right here and the amount was generous for sure. We could not finish and packed it for to-go. Next time, I would ask as if it would be made with hand made tortilla instead of regular: ) Sprinkle with lettuce inside and a whip of sour cream. Tried this spot twice. Food was tasty and I think their best meat is the carnitas, and chile verde was second. Asada is normally my favorite but I didn't like it as it was salty and too oily. Chicken and I think al pastor were average. However, the taco prices are expensive for the size... especially the hand made tortilla tacos that were $4. Handmade tortillas are always much better but it isn't worth a $1 more each. Even with taco Tuesday discount of 20% it's almost $15 for 4 tacos which isn't as filling as alternatives like generic Chipotle, or many other taco options that are nearby. read more

Upsides: *the student discount-- amazing obvi * the hand made tortillas were delicious. some of my family thought they were a little thick almost like gorditas but still not a complaint *meat was very well seasoned! other comments: *my sister got a chicken burrito and felt that it had a lot of thick onion pieces she ended up taking out *the carne asada and chicken tacos also had a lot of big chunks of onion but for ME that was not a big issue I do not mind onion even in bigger pieces but if you like it more finely chopped then I guess ask about this ahead of time *maybe we were too quickly in and out and didn't see a salsa serve area but I would have liked to have packed some I would definitely come back and order more tacos next time :) read more

If you're ever offered a choice between handmade and regular tortillas, please have some common decency and get handmade. Do you really want to *request* packaged tortillas if you don't have to? This place has cheap tacos already so I wasn't even expecting a Taco Tuesday deal and I still got one. They even have 20% off for students. I just got back into SMC today so next time I'll have to show them. I'm never way out in the boonies of OC but I'm glad I caught this spot when it was still opening before it becomes overly popular and crowded. They even sell merch. I got four tacos, all the flavors except verde because I don't like verde sauce, and vegan which isn't really an authentic taco I'm sorry. They do have that if you're "one of those people" though. The tacos are pretty bomb but the best I think are the carne asada and whatever the shredded beef one was. Maybe it's just called beef. But I like red meat obviously. It's also good for you. None of that vegan stuff thanks. The handmade corn tortillas are worth the one extra dollar per taco too. Don't try this spot and say you missed the opportunity to have real Mexican tacos because you're cheap. Just enroll in college if that's the case and get your 20% discount. read more

My wife and I went for a walk, as we live just down the street, and stumbled upon Alegro Taco Bar--a hidden gem I had driven past at least 100 times in the past year. Located right across from the college, I've seen businesses come and go in this spot, but I finally decided to stop in, and wow, I'm glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly staff member who recommended their Carnitas and Carne Asada tacos. I ordered two tacos on homemade tortillas, and let me tell you--this was an absolute win. The tortillas were fresh, the meat was high-quality, and the flavors were on point. The Mrs. and I had lunch today at Alegro Taco Bar. We arrived around 11:30 and were the only diners. The menu at Alegro is simple and very reasonably priced(20% off if you present a student ID). The Mrs. and I each ordered the taco plate which came with two tacos, rice, and beans for $9.99. I had a chicken taco and a carnitas taco and the Mrs. had a beef taco, al pastor taco, and a carnitas taco. All of our tacos were good but I think the star of the show was the carnitas tacos. Just a lot of good flavor and the addition of salsa made the carnitas even better. The rice and beans were good as well. We also ordered a side of guacamole and chips which was good. I recommend you order the tacos with the homemade tortillas which are incredible. The service we received was great. The guy behind the counter was really friendly. We sat outside and it was the perfect setting. Our food was brought to us on Mexican clay pottery plates which was nice. Better than paper or styrofoam plates which seems to be the norm. The location of Alegro Taco Bar is kind of inconspicuous. It is across the street from Fullerton College next to Subway and a tea place. YUUUUUUUMMMMMM The best Al Pastor tacos I have ever had! They have a have a variety of toppings you can choose from including cheese, lettuce, corn, etc. They also have really good avocado salsa as well as a few other salsas. I love their rice and I always get double rice instead of rice and beans. The restaurant is always clean and nicely organized. The service is always great as well and the staff is so friendly. They also offer 20% off if you have your student id present. As an asada girly, this is the only place that has made me switch to Pastor. They also sell merch here! My friend and I love trying new places.... This one was posted on Instagram by one of the food influencers I follow. It stated they make handmade tortillas & that's always a turn on. We went up to counter to order. Tried to start off with guacamole & chips...WRONG...they are out of Guacamole & Avocado. We then went on to order some tacos...Al Pastor & Carnitas on a handmade tortilla. Since they didn't have guacamole we ordered chips & salsa and side of beans...Xtra cheese( which didn't make it to the beans) and I love Jamaica. But they were also out of Aqua frescas too!! The carnitas taco was good...the Al Pastor was way overcooked small bits of meat. The tortillas handmade but size of street taco.The chips were also overcooked...which I asked if he had any different ones... he said no..he just cooked those this morning. Beans looked nice but lacked salt & cheese. The salsa was very good... More than likely we won't return. Can't knock that pre pre opening hustle lol. I drove by last weekend and saw someone setting up in front of this place so I thought either they're bold to set up in front of a soon to open restaurant or they are that soon to be open restaurant testing out community engagement. I'm all about that drive by taco stand culture. I see a taco stand on the side of the road and if there's people there must be good food to be had. I'll say the chicken taco was the best of the three I got and the salsa on top had a great tangy flavor. Al pastor could be a bit more flavorful or bigger meat chunks. Despite there being a ton of Mexican spots in the area, not many places make fresh and flavorful tacos. You have the cheap spots that are a dime a dozen and the "modern" expensive places that leave you underwhelmed. I was really pleased to discover the food here is not only affordable but tasty and made with love. They don't just throw the tacos together. It's very clean inside and comfortable to dine in. There is a restroom in the back if you ask. My favorite was the al pastor. I don't always like pork because of the smell, however, this one luckily had no unpleasant one. The soyrizo potato was great as well. Not too salty, which is important. Wasn't a fan of the carne asada, but not a big deal. Loved the homemade guacamole and chips. Their salsa is fantastic! They have several options and my favorite was probably the verde one. Service was hospitable and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hidden gem! read more

Finally!!! A legit taqueria in East Fullerton! This small spot is just across the street from Fullerton College. It's got a few spots indoors to sit at, and nice seating outdoors. I got the asada bowl and it was just ok. I liked the beans and salsa. The meat was alright. The rice was not good, at all. It was mushy and watery and ruined the entire plate for me, you can even see it in the picture. I wouldn't go back unless I got something completely different to try. read more

Whenever I go to a new taco place, I always get their bean and cheese burrito. If the beans aren't good, I'm not going further. That bean and cheese was delicious. So I went a second time. The food is delicious. They make their own tortillas. They don't have all the meats some other tacos places have and I like it that way; they show off what their good at. Chicken? delicious.
