Alegro Taco Bar is right across the street from the college. There is a parking lot behind, but I find it easier to park in front in Chapman, that's just limited to 5 or so cars. It's a small place with limited seating inside and outside. Service was quick and responsive, portion sizes generous for the price, flavor on the protein was robust, a great experience all around. Alegro offers different Mexican proteins, and many vehicles to get that into your mouth. The tacos are so large that 2 is probably good for an average adult. I love chorizo and found that here it's strongly flavored and also not oily, hard to do but Alegro accomplishes it. The Al Pastor has a sauce that is more peppers than pineapple, but there is swim sweetness at the end of the bite and I did enjoy it too. Lastly the carnitas is cooked and falls apart easily. All three proteins were great as is (with some cilantro and onions), I didn't think they needed any salsa. Salsas include tomatillo, and mild/medium/hot.

I came here for a quick bit to eat. Their prices are pretty good and service was quick. I got the asada, al pastor, and carnita tacos. The asada I thought was a little saltier. The al pastor and carnita was good. The shop is small and simple. They have some seating outdoor. Good stop for a quick bite.

Solid spot for Taco Tuesdays. They have 20% off tacos on Tuesdays. The staff was super nice, friendly, and attentive. The meat portions are generous. The options are very customizable. I really liked how they had handmade tortillas as an option. They also had homemade chips too! There's a few tables inside and some outdoor patio seating. It's not a large restaurant. There's street parking or nearby parking structures.

I ordered a quesadilla and it was extremely greasy. I did not eat it all. The people are so nice but the food is lagging and sometimes they are out of ingredients. Hopeful they turn it around.

    More Tortilla than Burrito...

I had my wife go grab dinner for taco Tuesday. I was really excited and then got my food and I was underwhelmed. 1. Chile Verde Taco - a little too salty but better than #2 2. Burrito - tortilla tasted old and perhaps overheated. It wasn't even a true FULL burrito. More Tortilla than actual meat and other ingredients. I hate to even give piss poor reviews but this was by far one of the worst burritos I've ever had. I mean it might as well had been frozen and thawed out. Please don't be fooled by the solid reviews and photos! This is not it. Chips & Guac were solid but it's C & G! I wanted it to be good but major disappointment. Major disappointment primarily with the Burrito!!!!!!

Very generous with their meats so that's a plus! Order at counter and staff bring out food. 20% Discount for student with proof of school. Pretty nice! I'd totally go here often if I was still in school nearby.:P Hand Made Tortilla Tacos- THE BEST! I always love hand made tortilla and order it whenever it is offered. It was soft, tasted fresh and pastor was flavorful and tender - my favorite here. Asada was not my taste here - it was not as flavorful as pastor but my family loved it regardless. Quesadilla: with cheese and Asada. We had tasted better one in Santa Ana. It was all right here and the amount was generous for sure. We could not finish and packed it for to-go. Next time, I would ask as if it would be made with hand made tortilla instead of regular: ) Sprinkle with lettuce inside and a whip of sour cream. Tacos (regular) - Asada & Pastor: I did not enjoy it as much as the hand made tortilla tacos. Meats were tender and flavorful - same as above. Rice & Beans: on the side. I rarely order these but thought I'd give it a try. It was all right. I probably stick to hand made tortilla tacos. It was HOT inside the restaurant. Kudos to the staff who work there in that heat! Luckily it was a cool Saturday afternoon so I sat outside. However, the flies were too friendly here so I did not like that very much - eating and fighting off flies outside. The inside was clean and staff were very cordial and patient with orders. Parking - just drive around the back. It was pretty empty on a late Saturday afternoon so I did not have any trouble at all.

Craving authentic Mexican tacos right in the heart of Fullerton? Welcome to Alegro Taco Bar, your new go-to spot for mouth-watering tacos, burritos, and bowls!" Choose from their succulent Al Pastor, juicy Asada, tender Chicken, flavorful Carnitas, zesty Chile Verde, and crispy Chicharron. All served on your choice of regular or handmade tortillas!" "Vegan? They've got you covered with their delicious Soy Chorizo waiting for you. There's something for everyone!" "I couldn't get enough of the Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos. For desert they have Churros or you can upgrade to a Churros Sundae like I did. Come taste the difference at Alegro Taco Bar. See you there!"

was on a long road trip and we wanted to make a taco stop. We called ahead for our order. Upsides: *the student discount-- amazing obvi * the hand made tortillas were delicious. some of my family thought they were a little thick almost like gorditas but still not a complaint *meat was very well seasoned! other comments: *my sister got a chicken burrito and felt that it had a lot of thick onion pieces she ended up taking out *the carne asada and chicken tacos also had a lot of big chunks of onion but for ME that was not a big issue I do not mind onion even in bigger pieces but if you like it more finely chopped then I guess ask about this ahead of time *maybe we were too quickly in and out and didn't see a salsa serve area but I would have liked to have packed some I would definitely come back and order more tacos next time :)

The Mrs. and I had lunch today at Alegro Taco Bar. We arrived around 11:30 and were the only diners. The menu at Alegro is simple and very reasonably priced(20% off if you present a student ID). The Mrs. and I each ordered the taco plate which came with two tacos, rice, and beans for $9.99. I had a chicken taco and a carnitas taco and the Mrs. had a beef taco, al pastor taco, and a carnitas taco. All of our tacos were good but I think the star of the show was the carnitas tacos. Just a lot of good flavor and the addition of salsa made the carnitas even better. The rice and beans were good as well. We also ordered a side of guacamole and chips which was good. I recommend you order the tacos with the homemade tortillas which are incredible. The service we received was great. The guy behind the counter was really friendly. We sat outside and it was the perfect setting. Our food was brought to us on Mexican clay pottery plates which was nice. Better than paper or styrofoam plates which seems to be the norm. The location of Alegro Taco Bar is kind of inconspicuous. It is across the street from Fullerton College next to Subway and a tea place. Parking is available on the street and in the small parking lot located next to and behind the building.

YUUUUUUUMMMMMM The best Al Pastor tacos I have ever had! They have a have a variety of toppings you can choose from including cheese, lettuce, corn, etc. They also have really good avocado salsa as well as a few other salsas. I love their rice and I always get double rice instead of rice and beans. The restaurant is always clean and nicely organized. The service is always great as well and the staff is so friendly. They also offer 20% off if you have your student id present. As an asada girly, this is the only place that has made me switch to Pastor. They also sell merch here! I recommend their handmade tortillas, the extra cost is worth it! I love this taco spot and will continue to come back and support.

This is a hidden gem in Fullerton for tacos and burritos. The carnitas and al pastor tacos were fire. Also got a carnitas quesadilla that was super bomb. To top it off, they have churro ice cream sundaes. Forget about it. You gotta try this spot.

Can't knock that pre pre opening hustle lol. I drove by last weekend and saw someone setting up in front of this place so I thought either they're bold to set up in front of a soon to open restaurant or they are that soon to be open restaurant testing out community engagement. I'm all about that drive by taco stand culture. I see a taco stand on the side of the road and if there's people there must be good food to be had. I'll say the chicken taco was the best of the three I got and the salsa on top had a great tangy flavor. Al pastor could be a bit more flavorful or bigger meat chunks. I didn't get to try the carnitas cause gf finished it, but there'll be a next time since food was fast!

That's a lot for a $19 order (4 tacos and one burrito). I did not see any notices for a credit card fee. If there are any signs, someone feel free to correct me and show me a photo and time stamp, I'll gladly revise my review. This is a very small taco place with very limited parking. You're better off parking along the streets and walking here. It's a casual dining so you order and then sit wherever you want. There's indoor and outdoor seating. During rush hour, it's pretty hectic. The salsa and toppings bar is located right next to the ordering line, so people were constantly squeezing past each other to get through. It wasn't very convenient, and with the restaurant already being on the smaller side, it could easily feel cramped and overwhelming for anyone who doesn't like tight spaces. However, I do like that there is an open salsa and toppings bar. They even have pickled onions, radish, and carrots. The salsas were very good as well, not overly spicy. I tried the carne asada, pastor, and chicken tacos. All of which were really good and well marinated. Meats were tender and not dry at all. Just on the taste alone, I'll definitely be back and will be paying with cash or debit next time. They definitely need a warning for credit surcharges and hopefully it won't be a rush hour next time I go.

The Food: You can get a wide range of meals, from the usual tacos and burritos to less common mulitas and vampiros. I've tried a lot of their different options, and they are all solid, but will focus this review on my latest order: al pastor and carnitas tacos. Both had a fair amount of meat and were properly seasoned, with tortillas that were firm enough to keep things together but soft enough to enjoy. Were they the best tacos I've ever had? No, but I enjoyed them. The Atmosphere: It's a smallish medium-sized establishment with a mix of comfortable booth seating and tables. Everything is relatively clean and organized, though a bit spartan -- don't expect anything fancy. The Location: Ponchos has a State College Boulevard address, but you'll actually need to turn onto Walnut Avenue to access the parking lot. It's located in a small strip mall that's hard to spot from the road because State College Boulevard dips downward under a railroad bridge. However, there's usually free parking in the lot (as long as the nearby power lifting gym doesn't hold a competition, which always results in an overload of cars). The Pros: * Lots of different dishes with more proteins than the standard fare (i.e. lengua, shrimp.) * Customer service is usually very fast, friendly, and knowledgable. * Costs are affordable (unlike other shops that have jacked up their prices) * They offer free chips and salsa if you dine in The Cons: * During this past visit, the salsa bar had lemons instead of limes. * The bathroom meets the bare minimum but could definitely use a remodel (or at least a deep cleaning) The Conclusion: Ponchos Tacos is not perfect, but it's one of my go-to places when I want good street tacos, mulitas, or vampiros at an affordable price.
