I'm so glad my friends brought me here for lunch! I had no idea what I was walking into until we were inside and I saw Kobe posters and autographs. My friends let me know this was a restaurant that Kobe frequently visited and really enjoyed. I thought that was really cool! Huge mamba fan here! Inside is a regular mom and pop type of establishment with lots of seating that is buzzing with lots of people. The line does move fairly quickly but I can see that the place is busy! Especially since we went during lunchtime on a Friday. My friends love this place and recommend I try certain things. I'm not a fan of pork so I opted for the carne asada sope and we also ordered some shredded beef and potato crispy tacos. I enjoyed my food sooooo much! Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience here. From the moment we ordered, it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. The employees were unfriendly, dismissive, and came across as though they didn't want to help customers. We waited a very long time for our food while watching several parties who ordered after us receive their meals first. When my husband politely asked if our order was ready, one of the employees completely ignored him and walked away. Later, when he went to pick up our food, she again walked away even though it was obvious he still needed assistance. To make matters worse, the food didn't live up to the wait or the poor service. I wish I could give this place a better review, but mann the service has gone down over the years. Yesterday I arrived 3:40 with no one in line and I waited patiently at the ordering area and even asked one of the workers a question regarding the ordering and he told me the ladies at the register will help. Got to the car and the food was warm on the outside but the middle of the chicharrones were all cold. Had to go home and warm them up again. Was it worth 30+ mins for the food... you can judge. SO GOOD! I came here during a weekday for lunch and waited about 10 minutes for my food to come out. I got the #10 combo- tacos dorados (beef) and it was delicious. They give you a red sauce too to put on the tacos - absolute must! Adds even more flavor. You can either eat there or get your food to-go. I opted to eat in the restaurant today. Once they called my number, I got a tray of my food all hot and fresh and ready to eat. Before I knew it... my plate was clean! It was my first time there but I took the cues from other patrons and threw the trash from my tray away and placed the tray on top of the trash cans when I was all done. We love this place. When you walk in they have all the food there on display and you can watch them prepare the dishes. They have two registers to speed service and once you place your order you can find a table. This is a paper plate kinda place, bus your own table and noisy. Everything we have had (and we eat here often) tastes home made. So this visit I decided to try their Ensenada Style fish tacos and honestly these were the best fish tacos I have ever had. Came across because a friend referred me to this Mexican restaurant , and it definitely delivered. The place is simple and straightforward, but don't let that fool you--the food speaks for itself. Terrible customer service. I placed a pickup order and specifically requested pico de gallo. When I arrived, I asked for salsa, and then noticed the pico de gallo was missing from my order. The employee handed me a small bag and said the pico de gallo was inside. I then asked for two green salsas, and she told me I would have to give back two of the pico de gallo containers in exchange for the salsa. I explained that I had been very specific when I placed my order, but she insisted that I would either have to pay for the pico de gallo or exchange it for the green salsa--that I couldn't have both unless I paid extra. What should have been a simple interaction turned into an unnecessary argument over two small containers. More disappointing than the policy, if that is indeed the policy, was the employee's attitude. She was condescending, rude, and argumentative throughout the interaction. Unfortunately, this isn't the first negative experience I've had with her, and it's one of the reasons I don't choose to eat at El Camino Real. The only reason I was there today was to pick up lunch for my boss. Otherwise, I would have gone somewhere else. read more

I had watermelon agua Fresca and it was delicious and refreshing. Be careful when ordering because it's easy to over order. I had a chile relleno plate, number 12 it was. It came with rice, beans, tortillas and a small salad. I also got an al pastor tostada, but I ended up taking it home. The rice is perfect, the beans are tasty and well seasoned. I've visited a couple of times over the years. The sign up top said "Best Carnitas in Town." I've never been too impressed with them. We recently went and a got my wife the carnitas plate and myself some tacos. My wife said that the carnitas was dry. She didn't like it. The asada taco I got were okay, but I'd rather go to Tacos Los Cholos for my asada tacos. The line here was orderly. Service was good. I don't know what town the sign was referring to. Carnitas was not the best. I'll come back here when I forget what I wrote about them. read more

We did not eat at El Camino Real because they did not serve menudo on a Sunday. Why would you advertise online that you serve menudo and then not serve menudo? The lady at the front was rude and told us that if we wanted menudo we should go somewhere else so we did. She did nothing to make us feel welcome or want the tacos or hopes they were serving. Upon entering El Camino Real we noticed that the place smelled like something had climbed up in it and died. I do not recommend El Camino Rea. If you want good Mexican food and menudo in a place that doesn't smell like 2 year old diarrhea then don't eat here. read more

I've seen this place all over IG advertised as "Kobe's favorite Mexican Restaurant." I thought mmmm ok I will bookmark it & maybe one day I will give it a try. Well my son & I gave it a try & I was impressed. The menu is pretty large. We decided to get the carne asada burrito & a half order of chicken nachos. We did this so we could both try two things. Let's just say we could have eaten a whole burrito. The food was amazing. It was very flavorful and filling. They have a pretty large seating area but you can also take your food to go. My son said he was in taco heaven! This was the first time that we had brought him on his own my wife and I, and he loved the Carne Asada tacos. My wife and I had the potato taco plates with rice and beans and they were absolutely delicious! The service is a little abrupt, just meaning that they aren't super friendly because they're so busy, but they warm up when you ask them questions or ask for napkins or water or whatever. I'm updating my review to be fresh. My regular morning order here (about twice a month) is a machaca plate with no rice. The rice is fine but I'm cutting back on grains. That leaves them a compartment to fill with beans which are perhaps the best in OC right here. They are brown-gray, smooth, porky, and perfect. The Machaca has shreds of beef, egg, onions, tomatoes and peppers. The tiny diced veggies take more time but show more care for the dish. I add some of their fresh salsa verde to my machaca and eggs but they don't need it. The plate is always seasoned well. read more

Long overdue review! My wife and I have been coming here for over 20 years. It is delicious! What has kept us coming is their almost perfect consistency. They do not change their recipes nor products used. It is almost exactly the same as it was when we first started coming here and that is great. Some restaurants try changing up their recipes or try saving cost on using less expensive products and ruin it. Not here! First, the Carne Asada Torta. I have had Tortas from so many places and many that are much much bigger but never have any been better than the one here. They are again made to a like almost measured perfection. Perfect taste and balance for a Torta. The Chile Verde is another favorite. Just simple and so good. Goes great with their house made chips and tortillas. Chips and Salsa: For years this was one of their best offerings because it was free if you dined in. One of the best picos. After Covid they got rid of the house made chips but brought them back thereafter for a fee now. Still very good though. They have delicious Carne Asada Quesadillas as well. Their tacos are good but not what shines here. They use to have a fruit stand inside where they would make amazing Hawaiiana Fruit Salads. I wish they still offered them but they sadly removed the stand and stopped offering them. They also had a panaderia inside that was also removed. There is always a good amount of parking located near a Stater Brothers. It is lively and can get full. A lot of there staff has been there for the near 20+ years we have been going there which is awesome. read more

I was in the neighborhood and craving nachos and El Camino Real popped up on my search results. They're in West Fullerton in a small shopping center. There's plenty of parking in the lot. I walked in and ordered asada nachos and the cashier asked if I wanted a half or full order! It's rare to find places that offer a half order of nachos! I ordered the half and asked for green and red sauce and sat down to eat and noticed out of the corner of my eye the big photo of Kobe on the wall and realized this is the spot where Kobe ate! After that realization I tried the nachos and they were great, but the proportion of toppings to chips was off. I had to buy another bag of tortilla chips to finish off the rest of the nachos since there was at least a 1/4 cup of toppings left. Definitely would recommend especially if you want a half order of nachos! read more

Lucky for us, their dinner rush started fraction of a second after we placed our order. Phewwww. Ian got their Nachos. We failed to request No beans on his Nachos. The taste is far superior without beans according to Ian. Next time! Chili Relleno Burrito was adequately priced for the portion. However the chili to Burrito ratio should be a little bit higher! I honestly went here because it's been reported by many outlets that this restaurant is Kobe Bryant's favorite Mexican restaurant. This place was shockingly really amazing. For a location in Fullerton/OC, it reminded me of a restaurant that I would expect to find in a local neighborhood in LA. They have a large menu, but I highly recommend their hard shell tacos and tostadas. Every order is made fresh to order, so I would recommend getting something that involves the tortilla to be fried, because it tastes so good and fresh from this location. Tried El Camino Real for the first time and overall, we really enjoyed it. The food was great, authentic street taco vibes all around. The tacos were spot on, and while the enchiladas were a little on the smaller side, they were still packed with flavor. The rice was decent, though it felt like it was missing a little something. Maybe I'm biased because I'm used to my grandma's homemade rice, but nothing really beats that! One small heads-up for first-timers: they call order numbers out in Spanish, and while I appreciate the cultural authenticity, it was a bit tough to understand at times due to some language barriers. Also, we weren't asked if we were dining in or taking out, so everything came out in Styrofoam containers. Not a huge deal, but a plate would've been nice for the dine-in experience. Sad to see where this place is now. I've been coming here for years and though the food is still good the service and vibe has become so unwelcoming. I came in today and stood in front of the register while a female worker looked at me and just walked away. Another one decided to walk by and completely ignore me. The original female, who stared straight to my face, walked out and told another to "deal with me". I don't think they knew that I spoke Spanish, but it was very clear that they didn't care about customer service. While I was waiting for my food, it was very evident that there was no sense of urgency. Most of the workers were joking around with each other and taking their time to process orders. The cook, not wearing any gloves was throwing tortillas into a crockpot while also wiping his hands on his dirty apron. Overall, it was just a terrible experience. I truly hope the owner sees the reviews that have been left regarding service and makes a change. The food is good, but the practices are iffy. read more
