Had dinner their the other night. Patty was pleasant and very attentive. I always judge a Mexican food place by its nachos so i did their nachos to try it out. Portion size is great almost didnt finish it. However you get either a choice of sour cream or guacamole for a topping! That should be standard on nachos! And since i held the tomatoes and jalapeño's I should have gotten the guacamole to replace. Overall tho they were pretty good, little heavy on the beans. read more

The chips are what seems to be fresh tostadas and their salsa tastes nice and fresh Cool spot if you're in the mood for Mexican food, no dress code type of spot. Expect it to be semi busy (every time I've been here it's been pretty busy but it's always around 6pm.) Parking situation is very nice since it's a big open parking lot. When I come here I always get the carnitas enchiladas and they never miss. You can never go wrong with a side of Horchata either. Their service is great as well, they always check up on you whether it's for a drink refill, chips and salsa refill, or just to check in and see if you need anything. Let me tell you about their adult beverages, simply on point, ask for the OG Margarita, one is enough. What really makes this place special is the employees, from the moment we walked in, and through our visit we were greeted. The staff is fun, truly made it a wonderful experience. Years ago, I gave this place 4 stars. I take that back. Since then, it's become my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The staff is so nice and all the bartenders know my order of rum and soda water before I even order it haha. The food is fantastic. My family and I ate here on a Saturday evening and had great and filling Mexican food. I got the carnitas plate ($16), which came with refried beans, a green chile pepper, rice, guacamole, and tortillas. They had a sale for each day of the week and had their carnitas plate on a discounted price. They provided complementary chips and salsa. The chips were large, which required you to break them into pieces. Their mildest salsa had a medium-level spice, which might not be for everyone. I learned that this restaurant had a queuing system via Yelp, allowing people to wait for a table. While we didn't queue on Yelp, we got a table within a few minutes of waiting. Super Mex is super good! I recently dined here on a Thursday night and I was pleasantly surprised. For my entree, I ordered the one taco + one enchilada rice and beans combo ($16.25). You get your choice of protein for each item. My ground beef taco was delicious - granted the crispy shell quickly succumbed to its inerts, but I made due and it was exactly what I wanted in an Americanized taco: a crunchy shell stuffed with ground beef, shredded lettuce and topped with cheddar cheese. My chicken enchilada was equally as good. It's smothered in red sauce (thought I was a green sauce person) and oh so good. I usually find the chicken in enchiladas to be a bit bland and heavily reliant on the sauce, but here, the chicken was perfectly seasoned. I also had bites of the Super Mex carne asada burrito ($16.95). This massive burrito comes stuffed with carne asada, rice, beans + lettuce and topped with sauce, cheese, and sour cream. The carne asada was quite good - nice and tender with no chew - and along with the fixings, made for the perfect bite. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a burrito. Another GREAT Yelp find! We were looking for a good place to eat in an area about 30 minutes away from where we live. I had heard of this place before because one of my neighbors used to go here a lot (i'm sure he misses it since they have moved away) We walked in and were seated right away. The staff was really really friendly. Once we ordered, our food came out unbelievably quick and was very fresh and served on a warm plate. Their salsa was absolutely delicious (and I am not normally a huge fan of salsa. One of the things I liked the most about this restaurant was there was always employees walking around and even if they were not our server, they would check in with us, they would refill our drinks, ask us if everything was OK etc. I really like when restaurants are full of employees helping each other out, not only is it good for service but it's a really good vibe between all of the employees... and the customers are always happy because if they need anything there is someone right there to happily get it for them. Been going to this restaurant for years. The place is ok but a bit expensive for the quality. The last few times I've gone there I felt uncomfortable. Three weeks ago I recommended the place for a quick business lunch, and to be honest the staff was not rude but dismissive to three of us while doing a great job with one person in our party to the point of the others in the group commenting on the service to me. Today my wife wanted to take a friend to the restaurant for a birthday lunch. While there, my friend and wife were given great service. I was basically ignored until the check came. That was the only time I was given something promptly. It was so blatant that all through the meal my friend and I were quietly cracking jokes about it to ourselves. I can literally say that I have eaten at Super Mex hundreds of times. I just can't do it anymore. Last night was the end. We only eat there now when the kid is home from college. She grew up there but she is going to be 20 in a few weeks and while we still reminisce about her being 3 and us sitting next to the window delighting in the reflection of the lights outside she is ok with this long term relationship ending. The quality of the food is maybe 50% of what it used to be. I wish I took a picture of my 'dinner' tonight. I got the #15. A 3 enchilada meal. I told the server Patricia that last time I ordered the same meal there was barely any sauce on top. Not this time. You COULD NOT see the enchiladas or the beans because they were covered by sauce. The dish was inedible and should have been sent back. The ultimate irony here is that she had the nerve to charge me for extra sauce! The ground beef in the enchiladas also had a weird taste. Didn't want to get sick so it was all left on my plate. I know what it's supposed to taste like. Hundreds of times. Lakewood for at least 10 years and after moving Fullerton for the past 20 years. We ate here today. I ordered my usual the 2 cheese enchilada plate. First of all the plate was the size of a child's plate. Not to mention the prices have gone up for what you're served. I always had enjoyed the deep smoky taste of the red enchiladas sauce in the past but today it tasted like tomato sauce. It was more like an entomatada. What happened to the red sauce!!!! Please bring it back. I noticed a change in the food. Is there a different cook or did they change the recipe? My husband had the albondiga soup which tasted pretty good. He requested that they include chayote squash in his soup and they told him they do not do that. This is another change because they use to include it in the soup before!.? It's not that they don't have chayote available because it's included in their beef cocido soup! You think they would accommodate his request like many other restaurants do. I think I won't be including Super Mex in our rotation of Mexican restaurants. I might come back one more time to see if it was an off day.
