Reuben sandwich with fries. The sandwich was tasty but due to the nature of a Reuben, it was quite wet. They use good quality corned beef. The fries were delicious. Drunken Shepard's pie. Kevin had never had shepherds pie and really enjoyed it. I didn't taste it, but it looked delicious. It comes with garlic bread. Buffalo Cobb salad. What an interesting concept for a Cobb salad. The buffalo sauce and the blue cheese dressing went really well together on the salad. The salad was full of fresh ingredients. Marrow fat peas. I was really intrigued by this dish because I had had mushy in England in 1985 and haven't been able to find comparable ones since. I looked up what marrow fat peas are, and they are peas that were just left longer on the vine. I thought they were tasty with a good tooth. Kevin wasn't a big fan. I had a Trademark West Coast IPA while I was waiting for my food to be prepared. It was yummy and a perfect seven ABV. There's a very nice beer selection all around. I received very good service from Rudy. My order was correct and had everything I ordered/requested in the bag. The pub was quite busy for 2:30 in the afternoon. The hosts are attentive and always top-off your water and soda cups. My go-to's are the Buffalo Wings, Fish and Chips and any of the burgers. Their fries are always crispy. It's a great place to watch games because they have plenty of TVs. EJ's is definitely a step above the standard pubs I've been into. EJ's Pub is a 3.5 star spot that I'm happily rounding up to 4, and that extra bump is all because of one person and that's Tanner. He's easily one of my favorite bartenders in Long Beach. Always great service, super friendly and attentive, heavy hand on the pours (no complaints there), and he really knows how to make you feel at home. 5 stars for Tanner every time. Me and my girl came in to watch some football and decided to get a little adventurous with their huge menu instead of sticking to our usual favorites. One thing you cannot skip at EJ's though is the wings. They always hit. I have them do a special mix of buffalo sauce and lemon pepper seasoning and it comes out perfect every time. Straight up fire . For the "let's try something new" part of the night, my girl ordered the chili and she enjoyed it. I went with the fish and chips, which was a miss for me. I probably should've gone with the cod version and might've had better luck there, but the onion rings on the side were tasty. We also tried the jalapeño poppers that were a special of the day and they ended up being pretty forgettable. We ran through rounds and rounds of drinks and Tanner never missed a beat. We even tried a more adventurous cocktail, the Sexy Alligator, and it was actually pretty good. Overall EJ's has great bar food, great service, and a laid back vibe. Had menus and ready to order, but no one ever came to even take our drink order. Finally had to get up and go to Knolls down the street. I really hope someone else doesn't have the same experience. After opening up sealed bag, the burger didn't have any onions at all, and the french dip had no au jus. Pretty plain without the "dip"! Called and spoke to manager and wanted only the French dip covered so offered. $6 refund for the au jus. His response was, "well you got the sandwich." My husband and I used to be fans of EJ's about 2 years ago. But something has changed and the quality of their food has drastically declined while the prices have risen to in ridiculous amount. We paid nearly $50 for two burgers with two sides. Both of our burgers were woefully overcooked even though we asked for them to be medium rare. Both burgers were placed in the box with no love or care--just lopsided and disheveled. And worse yet, they did not taste good. I appreciate the $5 burger at Louie's III more than I appreciated my $20 Hangover Burger with overcooked patty, egg, and bacon. I wanted to call and complain, especially since our burgers were cooked incorrectly, but.... They don't pick up their phone. I am very sad to say I likely won't return. read more

There's literally nothing not to like about EJ's. The fact that it's walking distance from my house is a huge added plus. My go to dish is the Buffalo Cobb Salad, and I sub cheddar cheese instead of blue cheese. Drinks are always good, and I typically get the Gran Mimosa(s). Hubby loves the poutine fries with short rib. Arrived on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Parking is a bit of a hassle. They have 3 parking spots (literally - 3) in the back. I had to drive around the block a few times to find street parking. Inside is somewhat small but definitely liked the vibe. Tvs were everywhere so it seems like an ideal place to watch a game. For drinks, I ordered their Bluegrass Burrio. I usually order an old fashion when I order whiskey but this was definitely good. My coworker and I ordered their fish and chips and my other colleague ordered their hamburger. For their fish and chips, you can choose halibut or cod. I chose cod and it was really good. Fried till it was golden brown and the fries were too. Our server, Amy was nice and somewhere attentive. I asked for a to go box and a container for the tarter sauce. She brought a box and a small container of tarter sauce. When the bill came, I was surprised to see a charge for the tarter sauce. I still had some left and could of put it in a sauce container. I was taken back to charge me for more tarter sauce and not say anything. Common courtesy is to inform someone when you are charging them extra. But I guess common courtesy no longer exists just like common sense. This is a great sports bar. We stopped in for the gorgonzola fries (delicious and decadent) and some drinks. The Bluegrass Burro with muddled strawberries was super refreshing and the Keoke Coffee cocktail was very tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Everything went well! My brother and I went there to watch a game and the food and service were excellent. I was recommended the Fish and Chips and the crunch from fish was very satisfying. The bathrooms were clean and the ambiance was enjoyable. There were a few other games happening at the same time so the restaurant was full, but, it wasn't annoyingly roudy. It's a little classier than the average sports bar. We had such a great experience that we brought our mom a few days later to watch the 2nd game of the Post Season! I have been coming to this restaurant for years and today we were not sure of what to have for dinner so we decided to look at happy hours in Bixby Knolls and saw on the website of EJ's (because it is one of her favorite restaurants) that their happy hour was until 7 PM. When we arrived and asked for the happy hour menu, we were told that it had finished at 6 PM. I informed the waitress that their website state 7 PM, she went to management only to come back and tell us that be happy hour menu hours are posted on the outside of the building and on their menu. Therefore they would not honor it. So for all of you, who are looking for a good happy hour. EJ's has the best wings, but make sure you don't rely on their website to decide where to take your business. What is really sad is that the cost of food is relatively low for a restaurant And they could've honored their pricing instead of making us pay for their mistake of not updating their website. Came here to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time. We made the apparently unforgivable mistake of sitting at the bar, talking, and laughing like paying customers who were enjoying themselves. Without any warning or attempt at basic professionalism, the bar manager decided to start yelling at my friend, accusing him of being disrespectful. This was extra confusing considering we were only speaking to each other and not causing any disruption beyond having a conversation. If the establishment prefers silent, joyless patrons who communicate exclusively through eye contact, that should probably be stated upfront. Being shouted at by management for talking to your own friend is certainly... a choice. Plenty of bars manage to serve drinks without scolding their customers. Unfortunately, this one seems to struggle with that concept. Spend your money somewhere that understands what a bar is actually for. His name is Vari.Apparently he does this all the time.
